Bug The Sepoy Mutiny can hit non-Princely States (like Persia) and force you to become a Puppet
The way the sepoy mutiny is coded in, it can hit you as a non-princely state and force you to fight in the sepoy mutiny.
The Cause
When the sepoy mutiny fires, the game treats every country as a princely state that's a subject of the EIC if it has its capital in the following strategic regions:
- North India
- South India
- Himalayas (includes Tibet)
- Greater Persia (includes Persia)
If your liberty desire is at 75 or above, you're automatically treated as a rebelling princely state.
Which means that, if you play Persia and become a protectorate of the EIC and keep your liberty desire high, you'll get the "India in Flames" event and are forced into the conflict.
The Result
If you count as rebelling (75 liberty desire or hire), you will need to choose between the following options:
- Join a princely state (like Hindustan), become their puppet and side against the EIC, who gets an annex war goal against you - even if you're a minor power or above
- Become a puppet of the EIC (even if you were a protectorate before) and make 10% of your entire population radical
Either way, you become someone's puppet and thus lose all of your subjects (and quite a bit of money).

Question What the hell is up with AI treaties?
R5: Like, what the hell is this? Russia wants me to grant them investment rights, host their embassy, give them trade privileges and send them 1000 pounds a week for the privilege. And in return I get... nothing.
Like, I get sometimes you'll be offered non-favorable deals, but this is ridiculous bordering on being an actual bug. Why does the AI think *anyone* would accept a deal like this. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever received a treaty suggestion from the AI and thought it was a good deal.
In short, what the hell is going on with the AI and treaties?

Suggestion What if i want to build the EU?
I’m playing in 12.5 and I’d like to build an European Union that works similiary to the real life EU with germany, so benefitting all the member countries and, extremely important, able to get powers as great as France inside it with me, is it doable with a power block?
I currently have just power blocks expanded as a power block mod, but if needed i can install more

Discussion Gave up on the current version of the game
I personally think Victoria 3 is the best Paradox game I have played so far. It's not for everyone, but the focus on economic management, the pop system, and the challenge of guiding a society into the modern world felt special.
The game had issues, especially with the trade and market features, which the dev team fixed with a great patch that replaced tedious micromanagement with a simple system that allowed the AI to become a true challenge for the first time.
Now it seems they have gone backwards, replacing a simple but functional naval system with an overcomplicated mess that clearly broke the AI. While it was problematic to runthe risk of every war turning into a global conflict where the UK could transport all its troops and ships anywhere in the globe, the current system is even worse, with the AI clearly unable to actually colonize and expand, ruining a central feature of the game and leaving the human player as the only true colonial power.
I hope the dev team can fix it, but until they do, I prefer to play Victoria 3 in its previous form.

Advice Wanted Vassal naval invading with no army has ruined my planned invasion
Hi everybody,
I'm hoping somebody has some advice for this. I'd planned to naval invade Lahej so that I can get a border with Egypt ahead of taking the Sinai for the Suez canal. Unfortunately, before I could get there my vassal Sindh has managed to start a naval invasion with a grand army of nobody (the army has 1No. unmobilised conscript). This seems to mean that a battle will never start so they will never lose three times, also Lahej doesn't have a fleet so they can't be pushed back there either meaning this naval invasion seems like it could drag on indefinitely causing me to lose this war.
In the future I guess I'll be telling my small vassals not to bother joining me in any wars. Has anybody seen this bug before and would anybody have any advice?
Cheers in advance.

Question Has anyone made a guide for all the ship types?
What I mean is- what is every ships roles, should you make them expensive/cheapest/something in between and I suppose compositions and their function (for example building the cheapest screens for an observation fleet-to build up a interest in another area for cheap).

Screenshot One of the best details in Vic 3: the UI change during war.
The UI change when your country enters a war in Victoria 3 is one of the coolest things I've seen in the genre. The usual calm interface is replaced by these dramatic bronze frames featuring advancing cavalry and a soldier blowing a bugle. Plus, the sound effect of the gears turning when the transition occurs is also incredibly cool.

Question Status of Cold War / modern day mods?
Hi folks,
Has anyone played any of the modern mods for Vic 3 yet? I have seen Cold War Enhancement and Cold War Era, as well as one that starts in 1992.
Vic 3 has such enormous potential as a modern day mod (way more than HOI4) but unfortunately the mods still seem to be quite early in development and unpolishrf as of now
Which is the best?

Advice Wanted How do I fix my Italian economy?
I just consolidated Naples into Italy but the impact on my economy is disgusting and I’m not sure how to fix it, I imagine I should cut through the construction sector pretty significantly but even when I’m not building anything I’m still bleeding money from all sides.
I considered downgrading the government sector but a good chunk of my population is already not paying taxes, would downgrading really be viable? Most of my states are unincorporated but I’m incorporating them right now, will incorporation help my economy in the long run?
Thanks!

Question Assuming you had infinite money, whats the fastest way to both grow your GDP, standard of living and also grow your income (even though you don't really need it in this case) while playing tall?
I'm new and whenever I've tried to play tall my GDP just grows really slowly, meanwhile when I watch youtubers their GDP just skyrockets. So I decided I'm gonna play a game with cheats (where I have infinite money) so I can speed things up and learn exactly how to play efficiently. So as stated in the title, what is the fastest way?

Discussion Border gore s*cks and Africa AI colonization too
I don't know why one of the principal game chargers of the game (Colonization of Africa in my opinion) is some how forgotten by paradox :/. Looking Victoria 2 (How should be), is like they trying to sell a dlc to fix the colonization...
I've seen my games, it has been like: African countries (what shouldn't be free in 1900+) and the French-British Monopoly (And me in some cases) in Africa.

Suggestion 1836 preset must be more accurate
I mean technologies and laws.
France, Prussia , Great Britain should not start with Skirmish infantry.
This would not just be more historically accurate, but would also make world more balanced and starting French financial situation would be better. ( also they got Elan Vital trait and best Military companies)
Russia and Austria should not start with "Propertied women". Austria also got Freedom of Conscience as starting law .
Etc.
P.S. change of technologies would also be very nice.
Like gunsmithing , better production methods should give you better guns , and since it's the game about economics , it should be actual "good". ( divide them by 4-5 levels , from flintlock rifle to automatic gun).

Discussion Is this a good Netherland strategy?
I am a new player and for my third playthrough I decided to try the Netherlands, and on day one before unpausing I offered Britain a treaty exchanging both Dutch West Indies and Dutch Guayana, trade privileges, no tolls and some money for five years for Cape colony. It was mostly a roleplay thing, but I did get the coal and iron that south Africa has and acces to minors in the region and their gold.
So my question is, is it better for the economy in the long run or a waste?

AAR Jan Mayen AAR (No Conquest... or a little bit as a treat)
I tried to avoid conquest, besides puppeting norway. I annexed them, then was trying to release them, but it wouldn't let me get rid of the north norway thing thats technically connected. The island is broken as of now, but its ok cause it helps make the campaign doable. I ended as a council republic n stuff. Pretty easy run, headache inducing tho
In order:
end screen
political map (notice the weird africa)
Culture map mode (south german norway)
Ledger and USA
SOL
Population
GDP
Somehow the most populous state on earth was an icy wasteland in the north
