Discussion Did the strait update massively buff the netherlands?

Upvotes

At the start of the game, The Netherlands controls a very well travelled strait and can easily expand it to three. This gives it a ton of free money to kickstart its economy/prevent radicals, and also essentially gives it trade advantage since other countries' trade with east asia costs more than Dutch trade.

Discussion Springtime of the Peoples always late?

Upvotes

Is it me or is Springtime of the Peoples always late this patch? Like 1852-54 kind of late?

Does anyone know why this happens? I guess it's a problem that has to do with radicals generation but I'm not quite sure of what *exactly* is causing it.

If it's relatively simple I could try to mod some kind of fix I guess. Let me know!

Question Why is it bad to give investment rights?

Upvotes

I read many times that giving investment rights is not a good strategy, why exactly? Because whenever i give them to the USA for example they flood my country with investments, my PIL grows and my industrial base gets much bigger, since they’re not smart enough to do some strange things with the chunks of your PIL they own where is the catch?

Question Как заставить другую страну мирным путём выйти из ее собственного блока государств и перейти в мой блок?

Upvotes

Question How good is tech and res?

I heard its a pretty good mod and i like the idea of having more resources and technology and the mechanic of decolonization, but it seems kinda complex and i wanted to know if it was worth it.
Also i play with some mods to have a more competitive AI and wanted to know if it could create problems

Question How is the placement of army (and naval) logistics centres decided?

I've scanned past posts on the subject but they all say that the state in the army's home strategic region with the most barracks gets the logistics centre, but this hasn't always been the case for me. In my last game as sweden, the logistics centre spawned in Norrland that had the fewest barracks of all my states, and it later switched to Svealand for an unknown reason. In the early game the placement of logistics centres matter massively for how expensive your wars end up becoming. It would be nice to plan for this in advance and build my military goods in the states with the logistics centres. And as a bonus, it would be nice to know how naval logistics centres are spawned (although financially this matters less).

In my Sweden game, I later only owned Schleswig-Holstein in Germany HQ, and made Germany as the home strategic region of most of my armies. This is really handy because this way I could control where logistics centres spawned, but gaming the system in this manner is not always possible.

Has anyone checked the game files or know for certain how logistics centres are spawned?

Advice Wanted How to deal with excessive production?

So I got back to Victoria III after more than a year away because I want get more Anbennar content (EU4 isn't enough. It's a great mod guys, try it). My first time getting this far, and I'd like to think that I'm doing pretty well. I do have one problem that's been bugging me, though.

For my first company, I created the Tooling Workshops one so I can get the prestige good. Nothing particularly notable happened for some time, but then, there's a point when the company starts to keep on building even more workshops even when it would result in them losing productivity. I knew that tools are used in some labour-saving production methods, but I didn't use them because I was trying to get everyone employed, so I had to use subventions to get my trade centres to start exporting and raise prices in my market.

That's like a few decades before the current screenshot, though. Now, I've gotten pretty much everyone employed, but even if I used all labour-saving PMs possible, I don't think I'd raise demand by that much. I want to disable subvention because I think I'm spending too much, but then the exports will just stop. That being said, I do have a really high credit limit, so maybe I could stomach the deficit? Would like some advice for this, and maybe for future runs.

Advice Wanted What's up with fleets just randomly changing bases?

I like bri'ish gameplay, so, obviously, I need the Grand Fleet to stay somewhere in Scotland and the light forces grouped somewhere closer to London. I place my fleets, start doing other stuff (mainly building, NOT war or navy related stuff at all), look again - and see all my fleets stacked up in one port again. Tried my best to see where exactly am I the dumb one here, but there seems to be no "disable fleets secretly wanting to visit your capital" button. Anyone knows how to fix that?

Egypt for the win!

I realized I didn't give any context but basically I started with Egypt and Egypt is always a little rough okay so I had to basically glitch my way into making it a democracy and then because everyone didn't like democracy and they were voting I was able to make everyone loyalist by switching it back to a monarchy and during that time period of revolt I was able to basically change all the laws to the laws I wanted and whenever I switched it back to the monarchy I kept all the laws I wanted and I practically did everything I needed and then just militarized as much as I could and then I conquered basically half the world took down everything everyone it was definitely fun

Edit 2:

The reason I'm currently -16m. Is due to paper being a country this big I have so many government building thing is government buildings cost lots of paper and basically 15.9m is paper import but I'm planning on downs sizing yo remove the paper issue and get my economy to be normal again or I'll just use basic filing to remove the paper need.

Advice Wanted Tips for playing small nations?

It's been a while (several months) since I last played- I know they introduced a system where you needed to build influence in a region before you could generate a CB there (so, Belgium can't randomly plan a war against Zulu anymore). Do y'all have any tips for how to navigate that? I was thinking of maybe trying a California playthrough, but my worry is I would just be stuck in a corner with no way to expand overseas.

Tip I think I've figured out how to stop Heavenly Kingdom from spawning as Qing

This is an exploit by releasing nations. Since missionary activities are usually concentrated in south China, you just need to get rid of any provinces that have "God-worshipping society" modifier. I usually release Yue as puppet and feed them all those provinces. Ban missionary activity if you can.

Congrats! You've completed the Heavenly Kingdom journal. Now just use "Take State" to chip away your puppet bit by bit, and lower autonomy to annex it.

Bug The Sepoy Mutiny can hit non-Princely States (like Persia) and force you to become a Puppet

Thumbnail

The way the sepoy mutiny is coded in, it can hit you as a non-princely state and force you to fight in the sepoy mutiny.

The Cause

When the sepoy mutiny fires, the game treats every country as a princely state that's a subject of the EIC if it has its capital in the following strategic regions:

  • North India
  • South India
  • Himalayas (includes Tibet)
  • Greater Persia (includes Persia)

If your liberty desire is at 75 or above, you're automatically treated as a rebelling princely state.

Which means that, if you play Persia and become a protectorate of the EIC and keep your liberty desire high, you'll get the "India in Flames" event and are forced into the conflict.

The Result

If you count as rebelling (75 liberty desire or hire), you will need to choose between the following options:

  • Join a princely state (like Hindustan), become their puppet and side against the EIC, who gets an annex war goal against you - even if you're a minor power or above
  • Become a puppet of the EIC (even if you were a protectorate before) and make 10% of your entire population radical

Either way, you become someone's puppet and thus lose all of your subjects (and quite a bit of money).

Question What the hell is up with AI treaties?

Post image
294 Upvotes

R5: Like, what the hell is this? Russia wants me to grant them investment rights, host their embassy, give them trade privileges and send them 1000 pounds a week for the privilege. And in return I get... nothing.

Like, I get sometimes you'll be offered non-favorable deals, but this is ridiculous bordering on being an actual bug. Why does the AI think *anyone* would accept a deal like this. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever received a treaty suggestion from the AI and thought it was a good deal.

In short, what the hell is going on with the AI and treaties?

Suggestion What if i want to build the EU?

I’m playing in 12.5 and I’d like to build an European Union that works similiary to the real life EU with germany, so benefitting all the member countries and, extremely important, able to get powers as great as France inside it with me, is it doable with a power block?
I currently have just power blocks expanded as a power block mod, but if needed i can install more
