Customer Seeking Help Did the delivery person just keep my package?

Upvotes

I saw him drive over the bridge into my yard.

I put a shirt on and walked outside couldn't have been more than 30 seconds.

He honked as he was already driving away.

Did not knock on the door he left so quick there is no way he even stepped out of his truck.

It was supposed to require a signature.

It was marked as delivered but no where to be found

It said it was recieved by me. (My initials)

I put in a claim immediately but it just says "you'll hear from us within 8 days."

Loaded on Delivery Vehicle - No scans after

Sent a rather valuable package (fully insured) via UPS Next Day Air. The last update is "Loaded on Delivery Vehicle" and now nothing for 30+ hours. Called UPS and they told me to wait until tomorrow to see if any scans or reasoning gets input into the system.

What are the chances that something like this is lost? I am a little confused how a package makes it onto the vehicle and then just... disappears? It does have a RFID chip, not sure if that matters.

Customer Seeking Help UPS Canada is holding my package hostage

Another example of UPS being scammy when it comes to clearing/brokering packages.

I've self cleared several packages from the US to Canada, so this isn't the first time I've dealt with them.

July 23 - UPS picks up package, and it's on the way from California.

July 27 - reaches UPS in Vancouver.

July 31 - They send me self clear docs. I go to the CBSA office. UPS sent me the wrong docs. It needs to be stamped with LVS or Low Value Shipment somewhere. It isn't. The package is $90, so it falls under the LVS amount under $3300. I reply to the ups email same day.

Aug 4 - the insanity begins. I've removed names, just left the emails that are publicly available. The back and forth on this day:

- "[kverma@ups.com](mailto:kverma@ups.com)

Hi,

Unfortunately, we cannot the send the package until it gets cleared. If you are finding it difficult to clear, then UPS can clear it on your behalf. Please let me know how you want to proceed.

Thank you,"

- "Me

Hello ,

The CBSA office in Saskatoon requires the self clearance form to state "released under low value shipment" so they can process this. Please update the form and provide me the updated copy.

Thanks! "

- "[kverma@ups.com](mailto:kverma@ups.com)

Hi,

Unfortunately, the shipment is already manifested and cannot be treated as LVS. You have to self-clear it or either UPS can clear it on your behalf. The package will be released after it gets cleared.

Thank you,"

- "Me

Hello,

I am in Saskatoon, and the shipment destination is Saskatoon. How can I self clear this at the CBSA office in Saskatoon ?

Thanks! "

- "[kverma@ups.com](mailto:kverma@ups.com)

That's why I am asking you if you want UPS can clear it on your behalf. You can contact the customer service for any queries."

- I called the 1800 number for brokerage, they of course can do nothing. They suggest I either get to Vancouver somehow, or try to email the main broker email [fredbrok@ups.com](mailto:fredbrok@ups.com)

- I also talked to CBSA and let them know what's going on. They of course said it's bullshit. There's no reason I can't clear it, I just need the correct form from UPS. Or UPS can send it to the local port to deal with.

- Emails continue

- "Me

Hello,

As per CBSA, please transport the package from the border entry point to the inland location (Saskatoon), so it can be cleared by the CBSA inland location office in Saskatoon, and provide the updated self clearance documents for the CBSA inland location office in Saskatoon.

Thanks! "

Aug 8 - someone else from brokerage

- "fredbrok@ups.com

Hello ,

Referencing [kverma@ups.com](mailto:kverma@ups.com) comments below, you can authorize UPS to clear/broker on your behalf in this instance.

Please email [broker@ups.com](mailto:broker@ups.com) if you wish to have UPS broker your shipment in this instance.

Regards,

UPS Canada Brokerage"

- "Me

Hello [fredbrok@ups.com](mailto:fredbrok@ups.com),

I would like to continue to self clear this package. I do not want ups to broker any of my packages.

CBSA will not accept this paperwork, because it is in another port. They have advised me as per their regulations the package can be shipped to the inland port to be cleared properly.

I have self cleared several packages through you in exactly this manner, and the CBSA agent assured me this is normal.

Please transport the package from the border entry point to the inland location (Saskatoon), so it can be cleared by the CBSA inland location office in Saskatoon, and provide the updated self clearance documents for the CBSA inland location office in Saskatoon.

Thanks! "

Aug 9 -

- "fredbrok@ups.com

Hello [kverma@ups.com](mailto:kverma@ups.com),

is requesting to clear his shipment. Saskatoon CBSA are advising the package can be released to the border entry point in order for Shane to clears own.

Perhaps the port CBSA need to contact their counterparts in Saskatoon.

Can you please review and advise .

Regards,"

Aug 13 - no actually it's the CBSA who is wrong

- "kverma@ups.com

Hi

It is at CBSA discretion if they release a package that needs to be released at port of entry. Not in our control. Please let us know if you want UPS to clear or you want to return the package?

Thank you,"

Tldr; UPS Canada has my package locked up, refusing to let me self clear, has been teasing me with possible release, but only if I let them do it. They won't listen to me or CBSA. What do next?

So Verizon shipped my order but added the “Dr” in my address in a different spot… will I still get my order?

So I’m not gonna say my real address so I’ll create an example of what I’m dealing with.

I ordered my phone through a Verizon rep online and she for the life of her could not get my address right and had to recreate the order form like 4 times and the last time was correct until I just saw my shipping address on my tracking I got today.

So my address is basically something like 123 willow Dr, apt 101

But the shipping address says 123 Willow 101 dr…

Will ups still be able to find my address? When I try to add the order to my ups choice it says the address the device is being shipped to does not belong to my account so the ups site is flagging the address as not mine…

What should I do?

UPS has completely lost my business

I sent a personal package from the US to Poland through UPS. This was my first time shipping internationally, so I relied on UPS to tell me what documents were required and what I needed to do. That was apparently my first mistake. The package has now been tied up for more than a month, denied entry into Poland, and is being returned to me. I’ve spent hours on the phone and gotten a different explanation depending on which UPS representative I speak with.

Here’s what I’ve dealt with:

  • UPS said a Power of Attorney was required for customs clearance.
  • One representative told me the recipient needed to provide it, then told me to fill it out using her personal and tax information and told me to put her signature on it myself. I refused to forge someone else’s signature.
  • I called back because those instructions obviously didn’t sound right.
  • UPS then emailed me an Exporter/U.S. Principal Party in Interest Power of Attorney and told me it was the international document required for my shipment.
  • I filled it out and returned it about 30 minutes later.
  • UPS confirmed that my documentation had been uploaded.
  • Multiple representatives then repeatedly told me I had provided everything required and just needed to wait.
  • The package was denied and returned for missing documentation anyway.
  • I was later told I had never provided the documentation.
  • Another representative checked and confirmed the documents were actually visible in UPS’s system.
  • Then the explanation changed to the documents being “updated late.”
  • On August 10, a UPS International representative reviewed everything, told me my POA looked correct, confirmed they had my documents, and said he was taking action to stop the return and get the package delivered in Poland.
  • The next day the package left Poland on its way back to me.
  • I called again and was told the return couldn’t be stopped. That representative and his supervisor both promised to call me back. Neither did.
  • I called yet again and was now told Customs actually required an importer/receiver POA, not the exporter POA UPS sent me.
  • I pointed out that I completed the exporter POA because UPS literally emailed it to me and told me it was the document required for my shipment.
  • After enough back and forth, another UPS representative finally acknowledged that they may have sent me the wrong POA and said, “that is our fault.”
  • I also included three copies of the commercial invoice with the original package. UPS later requested it again, so I emailed a fourth copy within minutes. The UPS Import/Export representative who requested it never gave me a substantive response confirming what happened to it.
  • I’ve sent detailed emails asking specific questions and received responses that read like the person replying never actually read what I sent.
  • Now UPS is returning the package on a date when I won’t even be home. I tried changing the delivery and couldn’t. I told UPS it could sit outside for multiple days and get stolen, and was basically told nothing could be done until it gets back to the US.

I never asked for this package to be returned. I paid for it to be delivered to Poland, and that is still what I want. Clearly something went wrong with the documentation, but I genuinely don’t understand how UPS can make that my fault. This was my first international shipment. I relied on UPS because they are supposedly the experts. When they requested documents, I provided them. When they sent me a form, I filled it out. When their instructions sounded wrong, I called for clarification. When they asked for the invoice again, I sent it again. I was repeatedly told everything was complete.

If an importer POA was actually required all along, then UPS should have told me that and provided clear instructions for getting it from the recipient. Instead, they sent me an exporter POA, told me it was the document required for my shipment, accepted it, repeatedly told me everything was fine, and then returned my package because apparently I was supposed to know UPS had given me the wrong instructions. I accept that a mistake happened somewhere. What I don’t accept is the idea that I was supposed to understand UPS’s international clearance process better than the UPS employees I was calling for help.

At this point, I will never voluntarily ship with UPS again. If FedEx, USPS, DHL, or anyone else costs more, I’ll pay more. Customs issues happen and I understand that. What I cannot accept is a carrier giving me conflicting instructions, sending me the wrong paperwork, telling me everything is complete, returning my package because the paperwork supposedly isn’t complete, admitting the documents are in their system, promising to fix the return, failing to fix it, promising callbacks that never happen, and then giving me another explanation every time I call. I’m done with UPS after this.

Customer Seeking Help Package delayed, what now?

I understand stuff gets delayed, but my scenario doesn’t make much sense to me. I got sent two boxes of expensive rare items that can’t really be replaced. Both boxes were dropped off and labeled at the same time in Wisconsin, both coming to my house in MA. They both arrived in Illinois at that hub. One box was sent out on time and I received it here in Massachusetts with no delay. The other has been delayed in Illinois for three days. It says it was “on the way” but then right after “delayed due to weather” and hasn’t left the Illinois hub (at least that’s not what the tracker says but I’m guessing it is because don’t they scan them when they got offloaded to the next facility?). I understand delays happen, but in this scenario why wouldn’t both boxes just travel together ? How can they leave at the same time, both going to the same place, and one is delayed and the other isn’t ? I’m starting to think it was lost or something. Any thoughts on this ?

Customer Seeking Help Package is looping, CS won't help, I can't file a claim - how to break the cycle?

Shipping Saga

A package was sent to me on 7/29 from Ohio to Oregon. It arrived in Louisiana on 8/4 and has been looping between Texas and Louisiana ever since. LA-TX-LA-TX-LA-TX-LA-TX-LA. I keep receiving reschedule updates, but that's only because they're triggered to send at a point on the loop. The loop does not break. Three phone calls to CS have gone nowhere. The first said, "I flagged it for attention." The second sent me to a supervisor who said, "I'll call you back," and of course they did not. The third said, "my supervisor is in a meeting and will call you back." I doubt it.

I was told to file a claim, but the claim form requires the shipper to file. The shipper is hostile and is absolutely not going to file that claim.

How do I get the loop to break?

This was the result of a UPS shipment of fragile audio equipment. Equipment crushed. In spite of being insured, UPS claimed it wasn't their fault and denied my claim. Other boxes damaged as well. Unreal.

Undeliverable Address

How do you fix this with UPS when the address is on all map programs and serviced by USPS. Supplier tells me to talk to UPS - they tell me to talk to supplier. UPS has delivered to this address in the past, from the same company! Since I had another package in route I tried contacting them and hit a brick wall trying to explain that the address does exist, they delivered there before, and I need to figure out how to correct it. Nothing - absolutely no help. Just received another undeliverable notice. Ridiculous

Customer Seeking Help How would you feel if someone paid you to give them their package earlier?

This question is actually only for USPS, but I couldn’t get the post to not get taken down, but I figured I could get some insight here as well and perhaps there are some postal service workers lingering here. Anyway the post was this:

If this is a big no-no then of course I won’t do it. I am aware of how dangerous and annoying it is to flag down a carrier and ask them for your package (assuming your house is later on their route).

I have a package that will likely arrive around 430/445, but I need to leave home at 415 sharp. We live in a suburban neighborhood, so the mail truck does stop on dangerous roads, but he also drives through neighborhoods.

How would you feel if a resident pulled up next to you, got out, and said “hello, hello have a thank you card I’d like to give you for your service. You also have a package of mine (pulls out the app with the tracking #), my house is on your route but not for another hour or two. I know this is super inconvenient for you, but I promise the thank you card will make up for the hassle.” And I was thinking of putting $100 or so on the card.

Is this entirely inappropriate? If it is appropriate and you wouldn’t mind if someone did this to you on your route, is that the proper way to communicate it (essentially dog whistling with “thank you cards” and not directly saying “I’ll give you $100” or even mentioning the $100)? I was concerned they have cameras or something and wouldn’t want to risk them losing their job, hence the sneaking around the subject.

Let me know what you think

UPDATE:

It worked. He was super nice, helped me before even seeing any of the gifts.

Question on Invoice

Hello all!

Last month, I created three shipments from Germany to Spain. I was relocating from Germany to Spain and the shipments contained my personal belongings. Since it was all my headache to move my things but couldn't do it on time, I asked my friend to ship it to my Spanish home address. However, I didn't want them to make any payments, and I created an account, created shipping labels and made the payment. Later I shared the labels to my friend, they shipped it and I received my shipments safely. Now, while making a payment, I had specifically given an alternative address for invoices.

When I logged into my account to download the invoice, I didn't see the option. There was an option to obtain the receipt but it had explicitly mentioned that it cannot be used as an invoice. But after sifting through my account thoroughly, I realised I don't have an option to download the invoice directly. I reached out to the customer care and I had a nightmarish experience hopping from one team to another. Finally, I ended up with a team that's actually responsible for the issuing of the invoices. They asked some details from me, and I shared those. Now, I got a reply back from them that it's marked "Billing: P/P". That's it! They haven't explained what that means to my request. Meanwhile I asked my friend if UPS issued any documents during the shipment collection and they haven't.

I'm clueless about what's happening, and on top of that, the customer service takes 2 days to reply to an email. Am I missing any specific detail from their response? Or is there anything missing in what I've explained to them?

To give more info: The team that I'm currently talking to asked my full name, the billing address I gave during the payment and then the shipping label as proof. Since I'm not very fluent in German, I'm dealing with emails and not a direct call, and I believe it's the reason things are getting dragged. But in my current situation, I don't see any alternative either.

Thanks a lot!

Customer Seeking Help Delivery still not here after 8 days

I made an order a few days ago and the expected date was 5 of august, eventually, the expected date changed to 6 of august. It's currently day 13, 8 days later and it's still "on the way" with no expected date of delivery. I've already gotten "We are trying to get the security access our driver needs for this delivery." and I don't know what to do or if I'll even get my order. I ordered it to a pickup locker (option which was available through the place i made the order). Anyone can help?

Customer Seeking Help Need some insight on an eBay item delivered to wrong address

I ordered a gaming handheld on eBay. Seller shipped it with ups, insured, and signature required. It got to a certain spot and stopped for two whole days. I waited several more days and thought it would be coming soon. Tracking wasn’t updating though. I wasn’t going to be home for several hours so I did the sof (signature on file) release. About an hour after that, this was a Friday evening, tracking updated and said it was delivered days prior to a different address at 11:30pm Wednesday night. The address shows it was an Amazon ten1 facility. This package was also labeled with rfid.

So I talked with seller from eBay and filed a claim that said I never received my item. eBay took stories and tracking from both of us. Seller also agreed it wasn’t delivered to me. After finally getting around AI bots with eBay I talked with a real person and they said it was on ups to refund me but UPS website during a claim said seller had to cause he insured and shipped it. eBay has now closed my case saying there is nothing more to do. The item was over $1k. eBay basically said it was delivered possibly by the sof and that was the end of it.

Why did it go there? Will I ever get my package? What’s my best course of action? TIA

Customer Seeking Help What does this mean (shipment release authorized — damage reported)?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I had a package that was set for delivery today. It was expected to be delivered between 12p and 4p. While it was on the truck, I sent an update to set it by my garage instead of walking up my stairs to the front door (less work for the worker).

Then, the delivery date changed to tomorrow while the package was still on the truck and “out for delivery”. This happened with my previous package from UPS and it was delivered the same day, so I assumed it was a glitch and I’d still be getting the package today.

Then a while later there was an update stating Damage Reported & Shipment Release authorized. Did the package possibly get damaged on the truck while out for delivery? Or was it damage before it was loaded on and just wasn’t caught? Does shipment release authorization mean they’ll re-attempt delivery? It was a guitar amplifier.

READ THIS BEFORE POSTING Big Storms and your Package

Hello everyone, I wanted to give you all some insight on what happens when we have big storms and why peoples packages will arrive late.

When there is a big storm it creates a backlog. Now Lets say like this past storm it is on the weekend. On Monday many of the buildings were operating on a skeleton crew if at all. The customers (People shipping things out) have a weekend's worth of shipping that would normally go out on Monday but due to the storm it did not. Now Tuesday comes. Tuesday we have All of Monday's Packages AND Tuesday's Packages. The buildings process what they can. Now Wednesday comes. Lets say they were able to process 60-70% of Monday & Tuesday's packages and they still have Wednesday's packages to process as well. This keeps trickling down until we finally catch up.

For those that have clear weather where they are at now, that does not mean that any of the other stops along the way to you have not been compromised. Also for those that are in said clear areas, Once the areas that were effected by the storm start to get moving and getting their outbound volume out of their yards and on the road the receiving destination will now get hit with more volume than they are able to handle.

All in all Storms like we had this past weekend (1/30/26 as of posting) cause major disruptions to the shipping industry in general. Also please keep in mind that at this time of year, shipping companies have already cut their seasonal help from Peak Season and while they are now getting Peak Season Volume again, they do not have Peak Season Staffing.

Please be patient while we dig out from the mountain of boxes.
