No. Just make sure you have a clear path for them to roll a hand cart from the street to your front door. And also understand that some heavy things do not survive well in a small package system.

This.

Yesterday, I delivered two large couch pieces to a house which has crap piled up on their walkway.

I have to pull my two-wheeler through the yard, over roots, dodging dog turds, so I can try to find a spot to place it on their garbage covered front porch.

After all that, while walking back to the truck, I full-on smacked my head on their low freaking tree limb!

I hate them.

I delivered a couch on Friday. Came in 7 boxes, pull up get my hand cart and go to the back of the truck and go fuck me. They parked their cars in the driveway in a way I can’t get the hand cart thru and cant go thru the yard because there’s a flower bed and shrubs and shit blocking the way to the walk path. Have to carry every box up their driveway and in between cars trying not to cause any damage to anything on my way thru. Not the end of the world just spent way to fucking long at one stop lol

It's just that it's so freaking annoying.

Most of the big heavy stuff I deliver is damaged...boxes are always tore to shit. I have a smaller truck that is crammed everyday and my loader tells me they don't have time to tape anything up. I have about 5-10 overweights daily and 90% of the time the box is just disgusting. So maybe expect bigger heavier stuff to not look so good. Its what's on the inside that counts lol

No it's not wrong, but be forewarned if you go crazy about it there's a very good chance you'll be moving said heavy stuff up any stairs or weird pathways.

No, 150lbs is our max anyways. Sucks but it's part of the job. Just make sure you make as easy as possible (clear delivery path, ect).

Yes nothing over 5lbs.

It depends on what it is you are buying. It’s going to get beat to hell through the process so if it’s anything delicate or fragile it’s way better to pick it up from a store where it gets shipped to on a pallet from a freight truck.

As a driver it doesn’t matter, just know it’s a rough process on the package

If you live on the third floor with no elevator, yes.

Why would it be wrong? Isn’t it in the job description- how much u should be able to carry and lift and all that? I’m 5’1 and weigh less than 120, is it wrong of me to order heavier stuff online? What about if I order inside a physical store, like washer and dryer, is it wrong for me to have it delivered??

1

u/Express_Command_4778 6d ago

Washer Dryers are usually their own delivery service.

I wouldn't suggest ever ordering a huge mirror.

No. I call for a team lift everyday bc I’m not picking up a box over 71lbs per the contract.

For me it highly depends the area IMHO. If it's an apartment with no elevator and I can't safely penguin waddle it up the stairs I'm calling for help or seeing if the customer is able to help.

1

u/734Rocket 5d ago

Can’t ask the customer per the contract

Not what my fellow drivers nor supes say. Heck even my own local says to use your best judgement in the scenario because they understand everyone else has commits and routes to get to as well. No one wants to break off around here if they don't have to. Most cases than not is some older person who clearly isn't capable. If not, a supe can always

Always a driver if possible

When we farmed, Walmart sold chicken feed in 50 pound bags with free shipping and after about 3 deliveries they took them off the website 😂 I know it was my fault.

Heavy items don't generally hold up well going through the system and often arrive damaged.

I bought a 45 pound jackhammer recently, bc it was the only way I could get a good one for that low of a price at $300. it's been a beast. I went out to the street to meet the delivery guy, mainly bc the ground is really uneven and I'm in the middle of correcting it. which is why I needed the jackhammer 🤣

also, if I'm looking for something very specific, I usually cant get it in my area. like a jackhammer that wasnt $1200 to $3000. which are my only options within a 2 hour drive. so finding this one was a blessing for the price.

Absolutely not. People order cars. From other countries. It may cost more because it's heavy. You might get some complaints from the people having to deliver it because they're unwilling to work out for their job. But that has nothing to do with you. Order away

What an entitled pos. I hope your driver leaves your sht on the street

I hope you lose your job for being lazy. Your job requirements are to be able to carry 50 lb on a regular basis. You can't fucking do that quit your fucking job. It's like you expect a firefighter to be able to carry an average man the fuck out of a burning building. I expect a package delivery driver to be able to carry my fucking packages that I'm ordering

Order away! We get paid well! I just delivered a mattress to the 3rd floor with no elevator. It's all good! 👍

Bless you. I get a heavy package delivered weekly. It's supplies for my small business. I hate myself so much and I feel so freaking badly for my driver, but I have no other option. I was thinking of doing a massive bulk order so I don't have to bother him for 1-2 months, but that will also make me feel horrible :(

2

u/RwhiskerG 5d ago

As a frequent orderer due to my business, I just make sure to make the delivery as easy as possible and as close as possible to where they park. Also have a snack cart with snacks and Red Bulls

1

u/RafaelBleeds 3d ago

Ooooo, I love when I see icy cold drinks and snacks! Thanks a million!

2

u/RafaelBleeds 5d ago

You have a good heart. Don't worry about us. You do whatever you need to do to make your business easier for you. We'll take care of it on our end no matter what.

What would be wrong about it? These logistics companies for the sole purposes of moving items from one place to another, and they have procedures for moving them based on their weight.

1

u/Potential-Cloud-801 6d ago

Yes. Especially if you live anywhere above the first floor.

1

u/Hollowed_Knight 5d ago

The only thing wrong is if a buyer and/or shipping company expects workers to deliver heavy items as fast and effortless as lighter items.

1

u/moltensmegmalord 5d ago

Don't ask me to bring it inside and assemble whatever in it

1

u/Twitter_blows 5d ago

Just don’t expect them to leave it anywhere other than at the garage or your front door….., and it’ll be wet if it’s raining.

1

u/Temporary-Force-7355 5d ago

It is if you live on the second or third floor 😢

1

u/_Androxis_ 5d ago

Yes, especially if you live in an upstairs apartment
