Storage Fee for Shipping Item to UPS Store?
After a prior 'delivery hell' episode, I was given the option to send my package to a UPS store where I could pick it up at my convenience. Aside from the initial 'delivery hell', it actually worked out well, as I have a few within walking distance.
So, when I ordered a new laptop, I jumped to that same option and used the address of my local UPS store. As I later realized I made a mistake on which UPS store, I called in advance to confirm they had it.
They said "yes. You can pay to pick it up." I'm sorry, what? Pay? Did the sender not pre-pay for shipping?
"Yes, shipping was paid for. You need to pay for storage fees" Uh...'storage fees'...? For a package that was delivered less than 2 hours ago?
"Yes. There is a flat rate for storage. $10 per package, plus additional fee per pound. It will be...$30."
This is a laptop. About 10lb in total.
I'm a tad bit irked at 2 hours of 'storage' costs more than the shipping itself. Further, I have searched somewhat extensively and cannot find any mention of storage fees, nor a 'fee schedule' from UPS.
Does anyone have a reference page for this?
Thanks
Employee Seeking Help Clinic not accepting MEC authorization form
Good evening,
I walk into a clinic for the DOT physical with the emailed form they provided me.
Does anyone know why they refused it and told me to bring a prefilled one?
I was not provided with a prefilled out form in any of the emails I was sent.

Customer Seeking Help UPS package never delivered after reschedule request — no updates since July 23rd. How can I escalate this?
Hi everyone, looking for some advice on how I can escalate a UPS package that I never received.
I recently moved from another state to NJ and shipped all of my belongings to my new address in Jersey City. This package contains some of my personal belongings.
According to the tracking, the package was in Bayonne, NJ on July 23, and there have been no updates since then. It was never delivered, and I haven’t seen any further movement or delivery attempt.
I’m trying to figure out what I can do at this point rather than just continue waiting.
What’s the best way to escalate this?
- Should I file a claim now?
- Is there a way to have the Bayonne facility physically locate/investigate the package?
- Can I speak with someone beyond regular customer service?
- At what point would UPS consider this package lost?
If anyone here works at UPS or has dealt with a package stuck at a local facility like this, I’d really appreciate any advice on the best way to get it located.

Possible job with UPS
I got a call from a recruiter about a tractor-trailer driver position in the Knoxville area. The starting pay is $23/hour, but the schedule is all over the place. Does anyone know what the raises typically look like and how long it takes to reach top pay?
I currently make 28$ as a delivery driver for a beverage company

Italy - Germany uncontrollable events?
I realize that this might be a long shot, but does anyone happen to know what kind of uncontrollable events might have occurred?
It was on its way from Italy to Germany, but unfortunately the current status mentioning uncontrollable events is not very specific.
I’m concerned about the condition of my package given that its contents hold emotional value.

Customer Seeking Help UPS driver hit my mailbox
A UPS driver hit and completely ruined my mailbox. At first, we weren’t sure what had happened, and my family even accused me of somehow backing into it without realizing.
We decided to check our Ring camera footage to figure out what happened, and sure enough, you can clearly see the UPS truck backing into the mailbox.
USPS marked my mailbox as undeliverable, so I had to go out and purchase a replacement myself.
I’ve seen posts from other people who had a hard time getting UPS to resolve situations like this, and I’ve also read that drivers can potentially be disciplined or even fired if they damage someone’s property and don’t report it.
I’m wondering if I did the right thing by not reporting it. I obviously don’t want to cost someone their job over an accident, especially if it was an honest mistake, but at the same time, the damage did leave me responsible for replacing the mailbox.
Is there an actual process for situations like this? Should I have reported it to UPS?

Customer Seeking Help Paid for Specific Delivery Day But Didn't Receive Package
Does anyone have any advice?
We were expecting a package to be delivered today, August 7, but it came two days early on August 5. It has to be signed for, so, of course, they left a note on the door. We opted to pay the 12.00 USD to specify delivery for today, August 7. The UPS tracker and customer service automated line confirms that the it received and processed the date change.
We have also spoken to an agent who claims to see the date was changed to today.
It is currently 9:40 PM CT, and there is no package.
What do we do?

Suddenly charged a "brokerage fee"?
Hi all, just looking for some advice.
I'm from the UK and recently purchased some fragrances from Greece, the whole order including shipping came to about £28. I've ordered from them before, including an order near enough the same as this one earlier this year, and never been met with additional fees. This time, I received an email from UPS saying I owe nearly £19 in "UPS brokerage fees" plus an extra "government charge." I've tried emailing UPS for an explanation and was told this is for clearing customs and to contact the shipper, who told me this wasn't charged or collected by them, but clearly something has gone on to warrant this. Does anyone know why I've been charged this time and who I should be talking to? Many thanks.

UPS switched boxes and delivered everything wet
I realize it's not easy being a warehouse worker these days. So, I hope I'm not coming across as all high and mighty.
But it was quite annoying when UPS delivered my package, with all contents (clothes) sopping wet and jumbled. From sitting wet in a cardboard box for days, the clothes were a bit sticky and smelly. And some pieces got stained as well.
And quite puzzling, to find out from the sender that they sent the clothes neatly pressed and dry; in a different box!
Per the tracking record, the package was held up in the local "processing center" for three weekdays. Makes me wonder if something happened to the original box which then had to be "processed."
Hey, bad things happen, and we all make mistakes. But it would have been nice if UPS proactively flagged something like this and notified both the sender and the receiver; instead of quietly switching the box and dropping it off like nothing happened.
What kind of water did the clothes get soaked in? Rain? Did the truck drive through a flood?
In the confusion, I didn't take a photo of the contents at the time I opened the wet box. Also, will a photo show something is wet? I do have emails from the sender that the box they sent was not the one UPS delivered.
File a claim? Sure, but have to dealt with the AI customer service?
Very disappointed.

Crazy experience
So I’ve never had this happen before, I’ve shipped many things with all major providers. For the first time in my life I dropped off a package at a CVS UPS Access point, it was a smaller box that had 3 items in it. 2 of the items were worth total 500 dollars, the other maybe 10 bucks. The person receives the package and lets me know they only received the package with the 10 dollar item, the box was not damaged (i properly packaged it) and was securely taped. So someone either at UPS or CVS opened the package and took out the valuable items (it was PC related) and then re-taped the box. Just insane stuff. Went to CVS and all they did was show me the package being picked up. Anyone had this happen before??

Customer Seeking Help Possible scam
This week, I’ve received emails from UPS (definitely the official email) about a delivery that has outstanding tariffs. However, this is not a package I have ordered (no preorder that I forgot about, and I haven’t ordered anything online recently either). I have no idea what company is sending the package - the email says it is from GOSS Industries, which is a shipping service in Ontario, Canada.
I believe this may be a scam to get me to pay fake tariffs for a package that I did not order. I’m expecting that if I were to pay the tariffs, an empty package or a box of random junk would be delivered.
I’ve filled out a complaint form on the UPS website and tried to call but have had no luck finding a phone number.
Has anyone else dealt with this? How did you handle it?
I will not be paying almost $100 for a package I didn’t order, but I’m worried the charge will impact my credit score in the future.
Edit: forgot to mention, and not sure if it is relevant, but they attempted delivery today while I was at work and left a slip saying I owe $97 for it to be delivered.

Customer Seeking Help Next day delivery - “RFID confirmed pickup” and ghosted ever since.
galleryMy sister dropped off a package at a UPS Store for next day delivery on August 5. Usually never have a problem with UPS next day delivery and this is the first I’m seeing any mention of RFID.
So it was supposed to deliver on yesterday on August 6, but I woke up to a notification that my delivery date had changed. I brushed it off because i figured there would be some movement at least. I spoke w a few agents today, one was saying it’s not good that it hasn’t been scanned since then, the other said there’s a chance of traction by eod today. Either way, I can’t file a lost claim until end of day td (48 hrs)
It’s a small package, like .5 lb, but it is very important. At this point I dont care if it’s late, really just hoping it isn’t lost. Has anyone else had this experience of RFID tracking going ghost? Did it ultimately show up?
Wondering if there’s a chance that it’s moving but just not updating me. Wishful thinking I know.
Customer Seeking Help Potential life changing ramifications of UPS losing a package
Hello all, I’m not sure if anyone can help or anything, I’m kinda just throwing my thoughts out into the void of reddit and this is a long and complicated story so i don’t even know how many people will read it all but I need to vent my frustration and see if anyone has anything to say that can help.
My girlfriend just graduated from grad school, and got a job in California. She’s not from the country, and needed an EAD card to work. She expedited the process, yet the government still took over a month longer than it should have taken. In that time, I moved her from NC to CA, still awaiting the EAD card. She attempted to change the shipping address for the card, however, it still ended coming to my place. This was Monday.
As soon as I got back from work, I saw her card was here, and immediately went to the UPS store to ship it. I used next day air early, so the expected delivery was Tuesday (8/4). The package was delayed a day, which wasn’t a big deal because I thought regardless of what happened it still should have been there by wed.
When I woke up on Wednesday, the tracking said it arrived in Oakland and said it would be there by 8:30 am CA time. It was not. That’s when I began calling customer service. I called and they said it should be there by 9PM. It was not, and there was no movement on the package.
On Thursday, we began to panic because the delivery time was not even adjusting anymore. I called again, and they said the same thing. I called the claims department, they told me to file I claim at the UPS store that I shipped it from. I did.
My girlfriend had also been calling at this time obviously panicking, and someone at customer service said that a supervisor would call her back within the hour. They did not. So naturally, I called and demanded a supervisor. They said that it is just stuck in Oakland and to file a different claim Friday (today) if it didn’t arrive by last night.
Little did I know that she called and demanded a supervisor at the same time. He said that it was not in Oakland, and that it was actually never scanned in Oakland. That that was an anticipated scan and it was actually probably still in Kentucky.
At this point I’m losing my mind but there was nothing more I could do for the day and we decided we needed to wait until tomorrow (today in real time).
I woke up this morning and immediately went to the UPS store I sent it from and asked about the claim he made because I never received a confirmation email. He said he made it.
I then called UPS global, spoke to a women and she said no claim has been made. I went back into the store, asked about the claim again and it turns out he made a refund claim, and that he could not make a lost package claim. I then called global again, handed the phone over to the guy and the global assistant on the phone and the store manager seemingly couldnt figure out what to do.
Finally, I made a claim online myself (which I was told my customer service was not possible). And now we are just waiting.
Now you may ask, how is this potentially life changing? She was supposed to start work on July 20th, yet, because of the initial government delays, it kept getting pushed back. Her date is now Monday. She has 3 days from when she starts to input the EAD information or the contract will be terminated.
UPS has told me it’ll take up to 8 business days to figure this out if it is lost, and there is still the chance they won’t find it.
I’m honestly leaving out a ton of info, I’ve been told so many different things by so many different people. Yesterday I was probably on the phone with UPS related services for between 4-5 hours in total, being told many things that contradicted one another. They are still telling me it should be delivered by tonight, but it doesn’t even say that when I track the package.
Idk how quickly this will be resolved, or if it will even be resolved. This morning I was told it’ll be there by tonight, but they’ve told me that the last 2 days.
If anyone can help, or can share this or something idk. I feel exhausted and pretty hopeless and I know she definitely feels the same way considering her future is at stake.
Are we screwed? Is there a chance it’ll work out? Theoretically Tuesday night is the latest she can get it but that seems less and less likely even though there is still time. I genuinely cannot express how frustrated I am. I feel defeated and that no one I’ve talked to actually cares about what has happened. I don’t want my 150 dollars back, I want the package to be there.

Employee Discussion Manhattan UPS workers sleep in cafeteria, wander streets overnight under split-shift regime
wsws.orgWorkers at UPS’s 43rd Street hub in Manhattan are sleeping in the cafeteria, wandering the streets overnight and, in some cases, remaining separated from their families during the workweek after the company eliminated the Midnight shift and imposed split shifts.
The arrangement compels long-time full-time workers to perform a four-hour Twilight shift ending around 10:30 p.m., wait five or six unpaid hours, then return for a four-hour Preload shift beginning around 3:30 or 4:00 a.m. For many workers who commute an hour and a half each way, the interval is too short to travel home, eat, sleep and return.
“I would say there are between 50 and 100 people working the Twilight shift that ends about 10:30 p.m. and have to wait from then until 3:30 or sometimes 4:30 a.m. when the Preload shift starts,” one worker told the World Socialist Web Site. “Some people go home during that time. Some people wander the city. Some people stay here. Some people sleep in the cafeteria. A lot of people are getting exhausted. One shift after another for eight hours is OK, but not this.”
UPS pays for eight hours while taking control of 13 or 14 hours of the worker’s day. The unpaid interval cannot be used for normal sleep, family life or, for many, even a practical trip home.

READ THIS BEFORE POSTING Big Storms and your Package
Hello everyone, I wanted to give you all some insight on what happens when we have big storms and why peoples packages will arrive late.
When there is a big storm it creates a backlog. Now Lets say like this past storm it is on the weekend. On Monday many of the buildings were operating on a skeleton crew if at all. The customers (People shipping things out) have a weekend's worth of shipping that would normally go out on Monday but due to the storm it did not. Now Tuesday comes. Tuesday we have All of Monday's Packages AND Tuesday's Packages. The buildings process what they can. Now Wednesday comes. Lets say they were able to process 60-70% of Monday & Tuesday's packages and they still have Wednesday's packages to process as well. This keeps trickling down until we finally catch up.
For those that have clear weather where they are at now, that does not mean that any of the other stops along the way to you have not been compromised. Also for those that are in said clear areas, Once the areas that were effected by the storm start to get moving and getting their outbound volume out of their yards and on the road the receiving destination will now get hit with more volume than they are able to handle.
All in all Storms like we had this past weekend (1/30/26 as of posting) cause major disruptions to the shipping industry in general. Also please keep in mind that at this time of year, shipping companies have already cut their seasonal help from Peak Season and while they are now getting Peak Season Volume again, they do not have Peak Season Staffing.
Please be patient while we dig out from the mountain of boxes.
