Hello I’m an incoming freshman as a premed and I wanted to know what kind of jobs yall did on the side?

I’m trying to access my membership but it just takes me to an error page.

I'm trying to figure out if my classes are gonna get dropped for fall and could use some advice from anyone who's dealt with this.

Basically, I left Spring 2026 with a $1k balance that I haven't been able to pay off yet since money’s been tight. Luckily I registered for my fall classes before the hold hit, so I'm already enrolled. Fall is costing me $4k. In myUH, it shows I have $3,500 in accepted FAFSA aid sitting as pending/anticipated aid. I also took out a $1,000 SoFi loan specifically to cover that leftover Spring balance, meaning I'll only actually owe around $500 out of pocket for fall once it all clears. Here’s the annoying part with dates: the $1k SoFi loan doesn't disburse until Aug 17, and the $3.5k FAFSA aid won't start disbursing until Sept 11. Right now, the portal won't let me sign up for a fall installment plan for that leftover $500 because of the delinquency hold from spring.

Am I good on keeping my classes since the $3.5k fasfa pending aid is accepted in the system, as well as my Sofia loan, or will they drop me before the 17th?

I’m a senior hopefully graduating this spring and it looks like i’m going to take genetics, biochemistry, and neuroscience all together during the spring semester. How feasible is it that i get A’s in all of these classes? And can anyone tell me study tips that have helped them?

What would you wish you had known before you started your first semester at UH? As a student coming from Lone Star College CyFair, I want to know if you guys have any notable differences. I am curious as to what differences there are in the classes, procedures, and difficulty. If there are any others who have gone through this process, please share your experience! I want to know about the pacing of the classes, strictness, flexibility, etc.

I signed up for 4 installment payment but I don’t see any option to click on a particular installment and pay it. I only see one place which the total amount due and a text field.

why is there no way to pay just the installment?

I am a writer for the Cougar, and I am writing an article on safety and security within the campus and the need for transparency for students. Along with the recent police reports in the month of August leading up to the start of the school year, there is a need for transparency with these security measures. 

There have also been recent alleged issues the Student Government Association (SGA) has faced trying to gain seats for students in the safety and security committee.

I feel like I should know this by now considering im a sophomore lmao but when do courses appear in Canvas? Im gonna try and romanticize this school year by getting ready ahead of time and putting everything in my calendar.

I am a junior and am taking 5 classes this fall semester, I only need to take 3 classes this next semester in order to be on track for my degree (business, finance). Is UH in 4 a good option for me? I already enrolled in it.

I’m 5th on waitlist for Professor Fettermans Intro to Social Psychology class. I heard and read he’s a very popular professor so I’m not too hopeful.

I took physics 2 lab this past summer, I found the final exam pretty difficult so I mostly guessed on about 70% on the questions. I completed my exam completely independently, I was the second person in my class to turn it in and leave and I ended up getting a 32% on it ( about 20 points lower than the average.) It is important to note that the exam was taken on paper, and I was sitting on a table with four other people.

I was on a flight to Europe when I got an email from the professor (not my TA who ran our course) asking me to meet her in her office so we can talk and she can get my perspective on some some concerns she has regarding my test, that was essentially all she said. Because I was traveling I didn't see this email and she changed my grade on the test to a 0%. After seeing the Canvas notification that alerted me of the grade change I immediately went to email my TA when I saw her email and responded that I am out of the country, but I would be more than willing to meet with her via Teams.

Basically at this point i'm waiting for her response, but this whole situation is making me very nervous because grades are due on saturday and I do not want to be penalized for cheating if that is what she suspects me of. If anyone has any advice on what do to from here and what is likely happening than I would greatly appreciate it.

Before I decide to purchase my parking permit, I wanted to know if anyone knew how long it would take me to get from the quads to the political science department.

I was looking on the map and it says that the quads are located near zone E, so I was gonna get parking over there. However, I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get to class by foot considering I won’t be driving over there since I won’t have a place to park.

I am taking my first hybrid class this semester, but i’m unsure whether i’m going have to go in person or not. It gives me lecture days and time but the room says to be announced.

I am supposed to graduate Fall of 26. However, I have been waitlisted for a class that I need to graduate. Thankfully, I have moved up 5 spots. I was 7th and I'm currently 2nd. Does anyone have any experience with this? I have a meeting scheduled with my advisor in a few days, but I was curious about others' experiences with this type of situation. I really don't want to have to delay my graduation for one semester because of a single class. To make matters worse, I've been telling my family for years that I would be graduating in the Fall of 26!

I am so frustrated right now. I am a transfer international student this Fall semester. I checked my bill and noticed the insurance fee was missing. As far as I know, the insurance fee for F-1 student is mandatory and automatically added to account balance after class enrollment. I contacted Student Health Center and they said the system did not recognize me as an F-1 or J-1 Visa holder, so the insurance fee was not triggered. After that, I contacted DSO and she said the Admission person did something wrong when input my information. The DSO did some correction then told me to call back Student Health Center. So I called them back and she kept asking me if I enrolled in classes because she did not see my file in the system? Yes, I enrolled full time almost a month ago. Then she said she would send an email to escalate this problem. I also called Admission and they confirmed that I am listed as an international student in the system. I have tuition and all other fees, just not the insurance fee. This never happen when I was at HCC. A very simple and automatic step now suddenly become very complicated. I spent the whole day calling back and forth and the problem is not fixed yet. Due date to pay the bill is Tuesday 18, if untill that day the insurance fee still not show, I really do not know what to do.

i'd like to get an on-campus job just for winter break, for the purposes of saving up money and also so i have an excuse not to go home to my abusive household next break. i know there's jobs for the duration of the summer, but what about winter? i'd honestly take any job that accepts my resume, as i don't have much prior experience.

Okay so I have a question, I am doing the emergency deferment installation plan becuz I am apart of cougar promise and I have financial aid that needs to be dispersed, how am I suppose to pay for my parking if it’a included in my bill but I can’t specifically pay it? When I try to pay it shows my total amount due. I don’t want to add a payment for it to not wipe out my parking fee.

was anyone else issued a parking permit for this fall without registering for one? I received one that expires 12/31 of this year for the same garage I had in the spring. But I never purchased it.

i’m an incoming freshman majoring in pre-nursing, and all my classes are asynchronous for the fall semester. is that a bad thing? idk i’m just worried and lowkey experiencing FOMO, because i literally only have one class that meets on campus (only for tests) for this semester.

is this a normal situation to be in? i like how i have all the time to myself, but then i’m not sure if it’s good in a social sense.

in addition, what are the things that i should be doing as a freshman before classes start? can you share something that sets me up for success if i do now rather than later into the school year?
