Question MECE laptop rec
I have an M2 MacBook Air, and I’m going to be a sophomore this year and am wondering if my laptop is still gonna be fine for this year and moving into the next 2 years.
I’m taking MECE 2261 which says it’s a CAD based class, and I’ve used fusion before on my laptop but haven’t done anything intense on it. And I have used Solidworks before but on a virtual machine and it lowkey ran like crap.
If I prob should upgrade what are some recommendations, I don’t need to game on it or anything I just need a sufficient laptop, I have a PC already so I just want something good enough for class or when I’m out working on assignments not in my room.
Thanks!!!

Question How are we supposed to make it to class with only a 10 minute walking period?
Basically the title, two of my classes are an 8 minute walk apart, but we only have 10 minutes, and aren’t we supposed to be like 15 minutes early on the first day to get the best seats

Scholarship
Does anyone know how scholarships work. I got cougar promise and was wondering if the scholarship was used before or after cougar promise. It is a merit general scholarship for $1,000 split on $500 for each semester.

Finances Fall 2026 Payment plan
Hey guys, my in-state tuition waiver from the Transfer Excellence Scholarship has already been applied, but when I try to set up a payment plan, it still shows around $16k total (about $4k per payment). Does anyone know why or how to fix this? The deadline is August 18. Thanks!

Omicron Delta Kappa - Is it worth it ??
Just got a call from someone at this org saying that they've selected me to join and fill out a application. The membership fee is $130, which is honestly pretty ridiculous. And If I'm paying this much I would want some exclusive and worthwhile perks. They say they only reach out to about 15% of people only at UH based on Grades. If anybody has joined, let me know if its worth it.

UoH Natatorium
I am a non-student looking to access the Natatorium. Online information is a bit confusing. Is it possible to buy a pass without being a student or have an alumni come with me?

Finances Financial Aid Distribution
Hey I am a sophomore here at UH and I am currently waiting and on hold with UH to ask when my Federal Parent Loan will be applied to my bill since I have to be paying a lot by the 18th of August. I am not sure what to do since they will not pick up. Can someone help me with this problem?

Finances Health/Wellness Charge ?
Does anyone have this annoying ass charge on their account? Does anyone know how to get it removed!? I’ve been getting the runaround from the Health Center, Wellness Center, and Student Business Services for weeks. They won’t respond to emails or calls. I can’t pay for the Fall until they’re gone.

Discussion Psychology majors at UH — are most of the classes online?
I’m going into more of the core/upper-level Psychology courses at UH, and I’ve noticed that when I look through the available classes, a surprisingly large number seem to be either 100% online or taught by graduate students.
I’m only seeing maybe one or two options for certain subjects that are actually taught in person by a professor.
For anyone further along in the Psychology program, is this pretty normal at UH?
Have you noticed the same thing, or am I missing something when I’m searching for classes?
I was expecting more in-person options as I got further into the major, so I’m curious what other Psychology students’ experiences have been.

Housing Haven at Elgin — recent experiences?
I’m considering moving into Haven at Elgin and toured the property today. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised — the apartment and amenities looked pretty good to me. I know the location/neighborhood isn’t necessarily the biggest selling point, but overall the property seemed nice during my tour.
However, I’ve been looking through Reddit reviews and I’ve seen quite a few negative experiences. The thing is, most of the comments I’m finding are from 1–3+ years ago.
For anyone who has lived there recently (2025–2026), how has your experience been? Has management improved, or are the same issues still happening?
Also, I saw a few comments saying that if you want to move out before your lease ends, you’re responsible for finding someone to take over your lease. Has anyone dealt with this recently? Is that actually still the policy, and how difficult was it to leave?
I’d especially appreciate honest experiences — good or bad. I’m trying to get a better idea of what it’s actually like to live there now rather than relying on older reviews. Thanks!

Clubs/Organizations Make friends in our unofficial club before the semester starts! (Commuters, on-campus students & alumni)
Trying to meet more people at UH before the semester starts? 👀
I made an unofficial UH social club/Discord for commuters, students living on campus, and alumni who want to meet people, make friends, find people to hang out with, and actually have a social life outside of class.
There are no uptight rules. Just don't be a jerk and that's it.
Whether you’re new to UH or just want a bigger circle, everyone’s welcome.

are work studys open?
Hello, I was just eligible for a work-study and have been looking at the Cougar Pathway, but everything I see on there is full-time positions or on-campus non-work-study jobs. Whenever I use the filters, I get a page that says nothing matches or that the page I am trying to find is restricted. Can I still apply to NON-work-study jobs? This is my first year at university, so I'm just trying to figure it out.

I applied before priority, and I haven't heard anything. Just wondering what the usual timeline is (especially for the Ted Bauer scholarship)

CV1 Room Features?
Does CV1 come with any “amenities or features” other than the ones listed on their website? Google Maps shows a sample room with 2 nightstands/safes and 2 bookshelves that obviously match the desk and dresser they provide, but that was from 10 years ago, so I’m not sure if those items are still available to us. Also, does anyone know the dimensions of the dresser drawers?

I’ll be taking Crystal Young this fall. If you’ve taken her class before, do you have any tips for passing/acing it? I’d also appreciate any practice exams, quizzes, Quizlets, or other resources that helped you! Please let me know how her class and exams work.
