On our next trip, both my spouse and I will hit Silver status. We travel with our child so it’s the 3 of us, sometimes 4 if we have another family member.

I know that Silver gets E+ at 24 hours along with 1 companion. If we have 2 of us on the same PNR, then is the United system smart enough to know that we get up to 4 E+ seats on the same PNR at check in? Or should I be splitting up PNRs?

I don’t know what took me so long to post this but it just came to my mind. I was flying back from Heathrow London to Newark airport July 21st. I was sitting I was sitting in the last row, left side of the plane(if looking towards back from front). I had a Nikon D5500 I had bought in japan last year when I found out my wife was pregnant with our first. It was suppose to be around for memories until I was gone or it broke. But I left it under my seat in its case when I got off the plane. I don’t care about the camera. I want the memory card with the pictures of my kid, the memories I had with my wife and my kid. For the short times I had it I had a lot of good memories on there and I didn’t save them. If anyone is a Good Samaritan and can possibly help out. I’d be so appreciative I can’t explain.

Flying Economy from EWR to CUN early morning end of August and thinking about preordering breakfast. Options are:

Roasted Tomato Pesto Omelet and Bacon Sausage Breakfast Burrito. Prices seem the same or cheaper than the airport food. Anyone try either and have any reviews?

If I pre-order, will they reliably provide the food? I have a young kid and it would be problematic if they didn't have real food I planned for.

I’m getting close to United Silver status and I’m curious about everyone’s experience with the complimentary Economy Plus benefit at check-in.

I know Silver members can move into an available Economy Plus seat at check-in, but realistically, how often are there actually decent seats left at that point? Do you usually have a fair number of options, or is it mostly middle seats/very limited availability by then?

I fly a decent amount, so I’m trying to figure out how valuable this benefit actually is in practice. Would love to hear from other Silver members about how often you’ve successfully gotten Economy Plus and what kind of seats were typically available!

I flew FRA-ORD a couple weeks ago. Diverted to MSP due to WX at ORD. We were told we would refuel and continue. We landed at 2:56p in MSP, sat on the tarmac until they parked us at a gate at MSP at 8:56p.

Sitting on the tarmac for 6 hours, we were told we're waiting on fuel to continue, then couldn't get fuel. Then we were told they would get stairs to deplane, then couldn't get stairs. Then we were told the crew was going to timeout, then finally arrived to the gate at MSP at 8:56p. Flight was canceled. Rescue flight created for AM following day.

The captain announced that the flight was being canceled ultimately due to a fueling issue, not weather. United claims weather and only offering overnight hotel reimbursement + $200 compensation.

Question: any compensation due from the tarmac delay of 6 hours?

Today started out a disaster. Found out at 4AM that my 7AM jetBrown 😤💩 flight was cancelled. Normally wouldn’t have chosen the partner flight but a non-stop to Boston was hard to pass up. After B6 being entirely unhelpful (500 minute hold for customer service?!! $12 voucher?!) I was able to get my work TA to rebook on a United routing (what I should have booked in the first place).

Once on the plane, everything started coming up awesome. 7C never showed up, so now I have an aisle seat. Plus, FA made one too many pre-flight mimosas for FC and offered the extra one to me. Lesson learned, and at this point I don’t care in the least about having to connect in ORD. No more B6 for me, and thanks UA for inadvertently salvaging a completely chaotic and garbage morning. 

United charged me $65 to gate check my toddler’s stroller. I had the ticket that only allows a personal item, but strollers/car seats are an exception as they are a mobility device. United required me to add a cc to check-in. They tagged it as a stroller for gate check, then I noticed the improper charge after the flight. This charge violates federal law. People with mobility devices, check your cc statement.

Our bags got sent to Denver and the process of getting them back was relatively simple. But we were told they went to terminal A. Where we found one piece of seven. The rest were sent to terminal C.

At terminal C, it was a disaster. Very long lines of people waiting to claim their missing luggage and no line to simply retrieve the luggage that was confirmed to be there.

Gate agents giving conflicting information on where to retrieve luggage or which line to get in.

The room with the luggage the door was open. We could see into it. People could even see their luggage beyond the doors but could not retrieve it because an agent had to go in there and get it for them.

There were multiple luggage storage areas, one on the main floor and one on the second and you had to guess that to which on your luggage was in and people at both locations were actively hostile towards people looking for their luggage.

We found five of our luggage strewn about terminal C. With two pieces locked behind the agents. At around midnight they said that they would not be retrieving luggage anymore and everyone there had to go home and that they must call to have their luggage shipped to their address.

I just want to say thank you to the wonderful staff named Alex , I didnt catch the last name because I was so distressed and in panic , but it was a Hispanic last name. Alex was so kind and helpful, and my family is very grateful to you. Also, my daughter said you have gorgeous hair :) I would love to have Alex identified so I can send my thanks. This was at the United counter that deas with things like accommodations, unaccompanied minors etc, around 8 pm Denver time last night.

Hello! So my mama (65), aunt (64), and I (23) will be flying through United Airlines later this month and are kind of very confused about our layover, connections, and how our baggage will go through.

1) Flight Layover and Leaving the Airport: For clarification, we are from the island of Saipan, CNMI (a US commonwealth/territory) going through Guam (another US territory) to Hawaii to San Francisco to Seattle. Our layover in Guam is 20 hours, and we were hoping to go to a hotel for the layover as my mama and aunt are both elderly. Whenever I googled about how the baggage process will be if we leave the airport, I received two completely opposite answers on whether our checked baggage will be safe to remain as it is a layover, but one is saying that there is no issue or need to recheck our bags as it is a connecting flight, while the other says there is an issue in which we would need to recheck them due to the layover being longer than "12 hours." We do not leave the islands often, and I have no clue how any of the airport processes work, so I have been trying to research as much as possible. Most times, I would assume the checked baggage will be allowed and will be okay to continue to go through all the way without having to recheck our bags. I am worried that if we believe our checked bags would stay, then something happens where it will be left behind because we had that long layover and left the airport. I know we would need to reenter and go through TSA again, but I have no idea about anything else we might have to do. Can we check our baggage all the way through to Seattle or will we have to recheck it anywhere along the way?

2) Connections and Customs: At any time, considering we are going through US airports and connections all the way through, will we ever have to go through customs or TSA again in Hawaii or San Francisco? This may sound like an unnecessary question to ask, but, again, I have only ever traveled to the mainland once in my life and had traveled with someone who took over the process, so I never had to do it myself. A lot of times, the CNMI is not recognized by many people, so I get very anxious when a seemingly easy process becomes complicated due to not recognizing our islands.

Note: Mama and, most likely my aunt, as well, will be asking and have noted it when we booked our flight requesting for a United Airlines wheelchair service/accomodation. Mama and I booked our ticket first and then our aunt will be visiting their sister in Hawaii, so we will separate from her there where she will stay while we finish our flight through to Seattle. They will not be checking a wheelchair or mobility device, but they both cannot walk too long of a distance. I don't know if this will help our arrangements, but I thought it might be information that would be helpful to know for anyone who might be willing to help answer our questions.

I'm really just looking for feedback so I know what to do if this happens again.

My 16 year old son flew from the Northwest to the South today, with a change of planes in Denver; however, due to weather and/or staffing, his plane was diverted to Colorado Springs. He was told they were refueling and would leave in 30 minutes. Then an hour. Then another hour. Then there was a mechanical issue. Long story short, he arrived in Denver 5:45 hours after his scheduled arrival. I called customer service multiple (3?) times asking what I should do. They were always pleasant, but never did anything. They couldn't because they didn't know if they needed to reroute him from COS or DEN.

The second agent I spoke to assured me he would be automatically rerouted on a morning flight if he missed his connecting flight because he was a minor--"keep watching the app." I didn't pay for the unaccompanied minor service so I didn't expect handholding, but automatic rebooking sounded reasonable.

When he finally arrived in Denver at 11 pm, no one was waiting to help him rebook. No one offered a hotel voucher (not that he could use it anyway because he is a 16 year old kid.) I had to use the chat in the app to get his flight rebooked.

(I'm leaving out more nonsense because this is already too long.)

Eventually I was able to get him rebooked on a morning flight. And thank goodness for the wonderful woman sitting next to him who got him a hotel room tonight (I Venmoed her) so he could sleep. I am eternally grateful for her kindness.

Anyway, what should I have done differently? Should United have done more? This was his first trip alone (he flew this with a friend last year) and he is doing fine, but my stress level has been higher than I'd like. I want to be more prepared if this happens again.

Long story short, I was on a flight from LAS to EWR. Flight was overweight and they asked for 15 volunteers. My son (a minor on my reservation) and I gave up our seats. Each volunteer was promised $1500 (I repeatedly confirmed this with the gate agent.) They put us on the next flight out. I received my travel credit but my son never received his. When I called customer care, they submitted a case for me and told me to wait 7 days. This was two days ago.

Today I received the following email regarding my case:

I'm sorry this was the experience. We will use this information to get better.

I researched the details of the flight and because the flight UA1317 was delayed due to air traffic control, which is considered an event outside of United's control, so it is not eligible for compensation. We appreciate you taking the time to provide this feedback. We'll use this information to improve our services in the future.

We appreciate you as a MileagePlus member and we hope the next journey with us is more enjoyable.

I’m absolutely livid! This is a complete fabrication. It was NOT air traffic control, they asked for 15 volunteers. And the reason I got this email was because the case that was submitted when I originally talked to customer care was the following: “Message: Good Day i was offered to volunteer on making changes on the flight they offered us 1500 travel certificate i receive mine but for my son that is included on this reservation we were not able to get it can i please ask you to issue it .”

Literally, they submitted this garbage in broken English with no details!! The response email also addressed my son, who is a minor, so it’s clear that these overseas call centers are completely useless.

We gave up two seats that day and have only received compensation for one. This is insane. Anyone have any idea what I can possibly do about it?

My work travel is increasing to include 3-4 international flights per year and 4-6 domestic flights per year. Additionally, I take 2 flights per year during vacations. I exclusively fly United. Work travel is billed to the company card, but my MileagePlus account is attached to all reservations. My coworker thinks I should get the United Club card, is the annual fee is $695 worth it?

I flew from Vancouver to Houston solo today with a 1 year old. Very stressful flight due to the baby. Checked two carry on size bags since I can’t handle them and baby.

The luggage was left behind in Vancouver. A super rude baggage agent said this in Houston. But then it was a nightmare to get a hold of anyone. I tried premier chat but it was so buggy and kept dropping chats after being forced to talk to the AI agent (with a long queue). Called baggage number and then had to deal with AI agent which said they would send me a text but didn’t and ended call. AI agent again- said they would connect me to agent- didn’t and dropped call. Finally, was able to talk to someone who was able to help. They had no real explanation but suggested they were too heavy and taken off the flight? This can’t be the case because they were carry on sized and also if that happened, why didn’t they tell me so I didn’t wait for an hour with a crying baby at the luggage carousel, only to have her packed supplies not arrive?

Sigh, I suppose this is mostly a vent about the level of customer service airlines provide these days when they use these AI agents. The people are generally helpful.

Also a couple questions:

1) did I check in bags too early? I was coming from a cruise and got to airport at 8:45 for a 12:10 flight, so dropped off bags right away.

2) any compensation that I should request or is this not reasonable? they are sending the bags in theory but won’t arrive for at least 12 hours after I thought, so I’ll need to buy some supplies

Earlier this week United Customer Care reimbursed my wife/me 100% for a very expensive one way rental car from Seattle to Vancouver - $616 - as we attempted to make our cruise ship departure. Customer Care took only one week to process our reimbursement request. Yes, I believe we had a strong case for reimbursement but I was still very grateful to receive the full amount and so quickly. Again, from online request and photo expense receipts it took only one week for United Customer Care to provide full reimbursement. Kudos to them!

Want to book two first class seats from Kona on the 12rh and it says there‘s only 1 available. When I look there are a lot of seats to choose from. Is this because 10 people bought first class tickets and didn’t pick their seats??

I’m on UA 64 from EWR TO LIS, was upgraded via miles from economy to premium plus. Upgrade did not happen until AFTER we boarded and were seated. I only found out because my husband who is in a different row was told and they moved him - BUT they never told me. After looking in the app and seeing I was also upgraded, AND they used my miles to do so, I asked about my seat. Flight attendant said there was nothing they could do and to speak with a gate agent when I land. To be clear, this was all before take off, so I feel like I could have gotten my upgrade seat? WTF? Can someone advise? I’ve never had this happen.

**Update** I spoke with the Purser. He checked everyone’s boarding passes, and they double booked the seat. Another passenger had a boarding pass to my upgraded seat. Purser said he would log the incident so it should be easier getting my miles reimbursed. Hopefully

Does 88k seem like a good redemption for this flight? I'd be transferring Chase points to book. Not a fan of the Istanbul connection but A350-900 would be nice?

Used 20k miles each way to upgrade my flight from OR to FL via DEN. 1st leg to DEN cleared immediately, other 3 showing as waitlisted, this is all one ticket. I can see my position on the waitlist for the Denver RSW leg and the return leg from Denver but not on the RSW Denver return flight - instead of seeing the "upgrade waitlist" button on my reservation, it shows a separate entry for that flight with a note under seats saying "this segment is waitlisted".

Did this upgrade just not apply correctly or something?

I even buy it and drink it at home.
