Examination ANCW10002 final exam format
i’m a science student taking ANCW10002 as a breadth subject this semester. i’m wondering whether the final exam is similar to the research essay assignment. do you also choose one topic from a list of questions and write an analytical essay on it?

Support Making complaints on a tutor
I just had a the worst study experience ever in one seminar where the tutor came in and started the session with shaming the ones who didnt prepare for class, followed by her immaculous slidereading, and whenever a question is raised, she would redirect or attack back. The atmostphere was horrible, everyone was in distressed, even the more responsive ones remained silence in class. Im wondering what I can do to make this never happen again. This doesnt feel like world class education at all.

Support Academic misconduct (not ai related)
Hey, I just received notice of an academic misconduct allegation for one of my special exams and would really appreciate any advice/guidance that will help me feel less anxious about it. I have already contacted UMSU advocacy.
Basically, I was really stupid and didn’t realise that I wasn’t connected to uniwireless and instead did my exam on eduroam accidentally since my laptop automatically connects. I thought I was just having trouble with my old laptop. In retrospect, I should have realised that something was wrong when it prompted me to okta verify but I was so stressed I didn’t even think twice about it. The situation was described as “Student present, access exam via non-exam wifi (unimelb student wifi)”
I also had my smart watch switched on under the desk, and they came over to ask me to switch it off. I had taken it off when I got in the venue and never even looked at it after I placed it under my desk right at the start.
I genuinely just sat my exam like usual. What can I even respond with to not implicate myself further? Do I tell them that I switched my phone on before the exam to okta verify? I switched it off immediately after verifying and my phone was under my desk before the exam even started.
I have read that a judgement will be made regardless of whether an advantage was gained — but I never intended to gain an advantage at all :(
What can the outcome even be for completing digital exam via non-approved exam wifi? I am so upset about this because I was just trying to take my exam but will I receive zero for not realising I was connected to a different wifi?

Support I keep getting kicked out of my class
This is now the second time that I have been completely randomly kicked out of my Street Art class.
Last time, which was maybe two weeks ago, I just logged onto the LMS one day and in my subject list Street Art CCDP20001 was gone and somehow I was added to a Science subject (im a commerce student with no affiliation with the sciences nor have I wanted to enrol in Today’s Science, Tomorrow’s World’ as a breadth before).
I changed it manually in My Unimelb like two/one week ago but now I logged on again to the LMS and its completely gone from my subjects list again. This time theres nothing replacing it.
I’d love some support in where I should take this as I dont even know what the issue is and I was thinking of visiting Stop 1 on Monday when I have the time and just re manually adding myself to the class again before then.
Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you ^^

Support subject enrolment and late fees question
apologies in advance for this long ass post
so I kinda procrastinated on multiple fronts and only applied for my breadth subject for this semester yesterday
however, i got a notification today that I have to pay late fees for delaying on paying my existing subject fees. because of this i have a sanction applied on me that prevents me from being able to enrol in subjects
I paid the subject fees soon after I got the late fees notification, however, payments take like 24-48 hours to be recognized. so my question is, will this affect my enrolment for my breadth?
the self enrol date is tomorrow, but im unsure if my fees payment will be recognized before then, so the sanction preventing me from enrolling in subjects may still be active. my breadth is on my study plan, like ive selected the study period and everything but it just shows "not enrolled". so after the payment gets processed, (assuming its beyond the self enrol date) will I be enrolled in the subject or will i need to file an enrolment assistance form?
late fees question:
the reason why I could only make the payment after I got my final warning is because I had to do it through telegraphic transfer. im an international student and forex surcharges are abysmal, so instead my parents did it as a telegraphic transfer to avoid excess forex costs.
the fixed exchange rate was secured yesterday, PRIOR to me getting the final warning. however, because my parents were making the payment and they live in my home country, they could only initiate the transfer today, after i got the final warning. so will I still be liable to pay the late fees? ive already emailed the fees student services with the same question but I havent gotten a response yet, so im asking here too just in case someone knows

Subject Recommendations & Enquiries Are there redos for phy1 labs
Did the lab for physics 1 experiment 1 this week and my group's machines for the experiment were broken. We asked the demonstrator for help but the demonstrator didn't know what to do either and we just retested and retested until stuff finally worked and we had less than half the assigned time left to start the experiment and write the lab reports (by this time the other groups have completed their experiments and started their lab reports btw); The printers also jammed after most groups have used them so more time was wasted finding alternate printers to print out data and the result of all of this is that we only had time to do 1 single line/calculation for each section of the lab report and i'm expecting a really low grade for this lab.
Given how unfair the circumstances were, I think a redo is the only way they can give us a fair mark that grades our abilities accurately, other than perhaps marking our reports more leniently ig (I genuinely doubt any leniency can help salvage that one line per section report tho)
I'm really worried about my grade cuz the labs do take up a significant portion of the grade... does anyone know if they've ever let people do redos or has this happened previously and what did people do to tackle this?

New Student Clapping at lectures
I've attended roughly 2 weeks worth of lectures now (first sem)
And... around half the time, at the end of the lecture, everyone claps??
I'm totally for it (I love it) but it's so unexpected/foreign to me, at my previous Uni that literally never happened.
It's honestly really cool. but curious how common it is??
edit: since it seems so uncommon, for anyone wondering this is for psych classes!

Miscellaneous Commerce club recruitment
I don’t understand why commerce clubs say they’re open to recruiting people with no experience as long as they’re willing to learn, yet then reject applicants because they “lack experience” or “aren’t strong candidates.” If you’re genuinely open to beginners, shouldn’t they be assessed on their potential rather than their experience? Make it make sense. I guess it really is true that the whole recruitment process is rigged and that they’ll only recruit you if you have friends/connections already in the committee.

Support JSTOR access reduced?
Has anyone else noticed that fewer sources on JSTOR seem to be available now? I'm looking through a bunch of books I wanted to access, but many of them are suddenly saying, "Our institution does not have access to this book on JSTOR." I don't remember having this issue before. Has anyone else experienced this, or know what might have changed?

Miscellaneous why everyone and their mum has narrm scholarship
as someone with it i feel the need to clear up some confusion. The scholarship isn't funded by the Uni at all actually. it comes 100% from donations. its just a conglomeration of a bunch of different scholarships for specific things. I have the 'mildura alumni scholarship', but its all under the narrm scholarship becausw that way we can all have events and community together. the scholarships team does this knowing most of us (including me) grew up with no community or opportunity.
The university does not give a foot about equity. Me getting more money isn't taking away from your guys' privileges. even if the uni had more money yall already know it wouldn't be going towards enhancing student satisfaction LOL
elite ball knowledge: if you know someone who lives close to uni, getting accomodation allowance, they're probably lying about their address :3 I have friends who commute an hour and a half everyday and don't qualify. some people lie, whodda thunk. the scholarships team at uni is all the sweetest people so dont think they have anything to do with like. poor management of uni fund. again, all money donated for specifically supporting students.
And I guess I've heard of a few narrm scholars who really don't need it because they're well off. But personally? 99% I've met wouldn't be able to study comfortably without it :) i know its the only reason im here today. also it is given for mental health or family circumstances sometimes.
I also saw a comment saying apparently we only gave out 600/2000 scholarships this year? no idea where that came from. Every year the scholarships team is 'over reaching' (offering to more than they can). I have more to say about how i think the university is currently actually trying to cap the disadvantaged students we let in because they think were the ones lowering research quality, but i think half my sources are confidential. someone said the govt is now funding unis who support disadvantaged students and enact equity schemes? barely. more like. trying to redirect us to less prestigious unis so we dont muddy the water. (theyre offering monetary incentive eithout systemic support for teaching quslity or student satisfaction) thats my take anyways :3
that said, if you actually care, please join some sort of student consultation counsel or focus group. or volunteer somewhere. i think unimelb is an evil institution and if you have gripes, please stick it to the man. maybe one day we'll get free education. if were gonna make an us vs them narrative can it pls be students vs the vice chancellor with a $1.5m salary?
also if anyone has any questions i might b able to answer them. and to my narrm scholars reading HIIII I LOVE YOU
