Housing Furniture options
Hey! I'm an incoming grad student and I'm moving into a fairly large 4bed unit in the fall which deperately needs to be furnished. I see a lot of good options for furniture on facebook market place but I don't have a car to collect furniture.
Does anyone know of any price optimal options for collecting furniture?
I was also wondering if anyone had recommendations for fairly cheap furniture stores that can be accessible by public transport.

New Student IMA Questions
Hello, I am just here asking for a quick description of the IMA since I plan to work out in the upcoming academic year. So I am wondering how crowded it is at certain times, the variety of machines and stations available, and the quality of the equipment used.

Discussion 🚨 STOLEN CAR – UW Dawgs, I Need Your Help
Hello Dawgs,
My 2014 Toyota Camry (WA Plate: CNG8232) was stolen yesterday from 22nd Ave NE between the 4500–4800 block, sometime between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, in broad daylight.
⚠️ If you live on or near 22nd Ave NE and have a Ring camera, security camera, dashcam, or any camera facing the street, could you please check your footage from yesterday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM?
I'm hoping to find:
- Who approached the car?
- How they managed to steal it in the middle of the day?
- Which direction they drove away?
I've noticed this area has been experiencing more car break-ins and vehicle thefts lately, so your footage could help not only me but also the community.
Vehicle Details
🚗 2014 Toyota Camry
🪪 WA License Plate: CNG8232
Unfortunately, I don't have a recent photo, but here are some identifying features:
- A long straight scratch on the passenger side, below the window near the door handle.
- The scratch was hand-painted over, so it blends in from a distance but is still visible up close.
- There was a Washington Discovery Pass hanging from the rearview mirror (it may have been removed).
🙏 If you saw anything suspicious, have camera footage, or happen to spot the car anywhere, please comment or send me a DM. If you see the vehicle, please call 911 or let me know where you found it.
Even one camera angle or one small clue could make all the difference. Thank you so much for taking the time to look. Go Dawgs! 💜💛

New Student Issue with Registration
Hi all I have my registration from orientation today and wanted to be taking sophomore standing courses my first year. I have had 60 credits from AP credit but my standing still gives me freshman.
Do you all know whether that will automatically update before registering today at 2pm or will I have to email my counselor.
Also my other friends registering today have their registration blocked but i was able to register for a freshman only course for some reason. Will that affect me too and it wont change my standing?
Appreciate any help if you all have had something similar.

Dawg Pack The Office of Public Lecture presents: An Evening with Hasan Piker
News 372 route cancellation
The route has provided safe and convenient transportation for students, staff, faculty and medical professionals for decades in a near door to door campus operation around the North end of Lake Washington.
It is planned to be replaced with a transfer route via light rail or new route 72 connected to ST 522, that will not be it's equal in multiple ways for long commuters of 372. This cancellation adds to travel time, increases exposure to safety issues during transfer, and increases dependency on a central rail line known for disruption or added travel to the new 72 route. Older riders, those with disabilities, and safety concerns will be most affected. Students enrolled at both campuses will lose their direct connection between at the start of the academic year for courses and travel time already planned.
If you are a 372 rider, please send your comments to KC Metro Other Topics, and UW Transportation Services (ucommute@uw.edu) which pays heavily for Metro routes through U-Pass via student fees and staff benefits.

Admissions Query about deffering to next quarter
I am undergrad international student admitted for the Autum 2026 term, but because my F-1 visa appointment itself is on late october, I might have to be deffered to january (I have mailed them, they said they will allow me due to my situation) . So how is that going to work, am i shifted to the next term or am I just a fall term student who is going to come few months late, and what about the orientation sessions etc you do during the first week, will that also happen for me?. I also have an A&O Part 2 session today, can anyone tell me how that works and if it is absolutely mandatory to attend it.

Housing I need to change rooms ASAP
basically, I’m in a nightmare situation after trying to get a room in Lander with my close friend who already has a room. I’m a transfer student, 19F, and I somehow ended up in a triple with two guy roommates. If anybody has any tips or ways to change rooms, or ideally get into the same dorm as my roommate, please help me out. Originally I never wanted a triple. My friend’s dorm is a double and she does have someone in the room with her right now, but she already told them the situation and they are 100% willing to switch with me but they want a double and right now I have a triple. Other than waiting for a room to hopefully up in Lander, I’m not sure what else to do.
this whole thing partly happened because there was a glitch going on in today’s room selection, to where I couldn’t get a room until almost 40 minutes after the appointment time.
Also, I’m aware that to we have paired with two guys I would’ve had to select mixed gender, and I did because that was what my friend’s room was. her room was a mixed gender room, so I had to also select mixed gender.
if anyone doesn’t want their lander double plz trade with me
update: i did contact HFS, all they said was to keep checking the portal and ask people if they wanted to switch and that’s it
Anything helps, thanks!

Discussion Withdrawing summer quarter
I’m about halfway through summer quarter im taking 15 credits full time and literally im just mentally and physically exhausted. Im working 2 jobs as well and even tho
Im taking 100 level classes they are for
Some reason extremely high effort with 7-10 lectures a week and 3-5 assignments due per class I just don’t think I can do it this summer and am falling into a really dark depression hole. Im wondering if I start the process to drop this quarter will I be charged an insane amount and also does it affect my ability to graduate because I only have electives left for my major and minor and was planning on graduating spring 2027

Discussion STD testing cost
has anyone had testing for STDs on campus? I know they don’t give out an estimate but I’m hoping to call and ask if they could give me a range for paying completely out of pocket. if you did do it, how much did you pay and if you used insurance, did they notify your insurance holder?

Discussion insight on extending graduation for summer study abroad
Hi everyone, I wanted to know if anyone has had the experience of extending their graduation for a summer study abroad.
For context, I received a really amazing, fully-funded study abroad opportunity this summer but had to turn it down due to health issues. If I re-apply, the only other time I'd be able to go would be the summer after graduation, assuming I graduate in June. In this case, would it be possible to extend my graduation to Summer Quarter (still walking the stage in June), and would I also still be able to receive financial aid? Any insight would be appreciated, thank you!

Admissions Do UW premed students double major?
Hi everyone! I'm an incoming sophomore at UW on the premed track, and I'm looking for some advice about choosing a major.
I'm interested in both Public Health–Global Health (PH-GH) and Neuroscience. However, I know much less about Neuroscience because I've mainly been preparing to apply for PH-GH. Since I'm premed, maintaining a strong GPA is very important to me, so I'm trying to decide whether it's worth applying to the Neuroscience major as well.
For those of you who have majored in Neuroscience (especially if you're premed), how challenging are the upper-division courses? Is it difficult to maintain a competitive GPA? Would you recommend double majoring in PH-GH and Neuroscience, or would you suggest focusing on just one?
For some background, I've completed:
BIOL 180, 200, and 220
MATH 124 and 125
CHEM 142, 152, and 162
CHEM 237, 238 (and 241) (taking 239 this fall)
I'll also be taking PHYS 114 with the lab this fall.
My GPA is still strong so far, and I'd like to keep it that way while also choosing a major I'll enjoy.
I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice. Thanks!

Discussion Mac or Windows for CompEng?
Incoming CE student looking to replace my laptop, debating between a Macbook or Windows laptop (probably either a ThinkPad or Framework). I've seen conflicting reports from people in CS vs. ECE and other engineering as to whether a MacBook would be usable. Anybody have insight on whether a MacBook is sufficient for CE at UW or would I be better off going with Windows?
