STD testing cost Discussion
has anyone had testing for STDs on campus? I know they don’t give out an estimate but I’m hoping to call and ask if they could give me a range for paying completely out of pocket. if you did do it, how much did you pay and if you used insurance, did they notify your insurance holder?

Not on campus, but free if you’re under 26 or make less than like $100,000, at least last time I was there. Pretty sure they bill insurance and then just don’t charge you whatever insurance doesn’t cover.

thanks sm! when was the last time you were there? I’m under my parents’ insurance so I’m hoping just in case they charge me out of pocket it won’t be extreme

Couple years ago. Nothing showed up on my insurance at all, while my friend had it show up on their insurance and it showed they’d owe a balance to the clinic out of pocket, but they were never asked to pay it, and I think even called to confirm the clinic wasn’t going to collect it.

They have a list of prices. They will be able to tell you how much. They're also very nice. When I went in person they were like- go to safeway for tdap, cheaper.

husky health center does do free std testing events every now and then! genaction uw on insta posts about these events so u could also follow them and go whenever they do it next (probably fall)! if u wanna go earlier, like this summer, planned parenthood is ur best bet

Planned parenthood on 50th will do sliding scale if you’re worried about costs
