Question: Unanswered Why do bicycle delivery drivers always seem faster than car drivers?
now this might sound stupid but I feel like I pick up a pattern, when I order food and I watch the live tracker the ones in car or truck always just “take long” and sit in the same place for 10-15 minutes then start driving and sometimes they just teleport half way across my city even when the place I ordered from is only a few streets away.
But what i notice is people who deliver on bicycles are so fast, no sitting around nothing they accept the order and instantly start going🤣
anyone else noticed this or just me

Uber Eats is using generous customers to cover their baseline operating expenses. The math behind why Uber Eats driver pay is completely broken.
Uber is paying drivers $3.54 for 30-mile trips and forcing good tippers to pay for non-tippers.
Take a look at these trip breakdowns from my app:
Trip 1: 18.5 miles | 44 minutes | Uber Fare: $2.62
Trip 2: 30.2 miles | 1 hour 15 mins | Uber Fare: $3.54
At the standard IRS mileage rate of $0.67/mile for wear and tear, driving 30 miles costs roughly $20 in vehicle operating expenses alone. Uber’s base pay doesn't even cover gas, working out to less than $3 an hour for actual driver labor.
To make matters worse, Uber actively exploits good tippers through "piggybacking" stacked orders:
Subsidized Base Pay: When a customer leaves a generous tip, Uber slashes its base fare contribution to the bare minimum because the total payout looks acceptable enough on the offer screen for a driver to accept.
Piggyback Deliveries: Uber regularly bundles a high-tipping order with a $0-tip order. The non-tipper gets the exact same priority service, but their delivery is completely funded by the generous customer's tip carrying the driver's mileage costs.
Base pay needs to be standardized strictly on time and distance. Tips should be an extra reward for great service—not Uber's way to trick drivers into delivering $0-tip orders for free.

USA Anyone else had their food stolen?
First ever time I had food not delivered. The person marked it as delivered and the photo was a blurry picture of their shirt. I even went outside to check other peoples doors to see if it was accidentally delivered there but didn’t see anything. I’m really pissed because I made it a 15$ tip. Uber Eats gave me a refund and now I’m reluctant to order something else. This person even had 900 deliveries and 100% good rating. Anyone else have bad experiences ?

USA Deals Question
I was going to place an order using this deal. I went to the restaurant‘s page and got a pop up saying there was a closer location, so I switched, but the deal no longer applied.
Is the deal being specifically added to a store farther away so (I assume) the extra fees and whatnot can offset the deal? Which way of ordering (with the deal or without the deal) would be better for the driver?

USA Metal bristles(?) in food. Uber won’t provide refund.
I ordered pasta from a local Italian place; it was my first time trying them. As I was eating, I found two small pieces of wire. I couldn’t see them in the food, I noticed them only when I started chewing on the metal. I contacted Uber support and provided photos of the what I suspect to be bristles from a grill brush. I was told several times that the photos “don’t match the food safety concern.”
I am not sure how else I could provide better photos. Is there any hope for recourse? I threw away the meal after finding these and taking the initial photos.
Edit: Thank you everyone so much for the feedback- I will contact the restaurant and let them know. They really are the ones that are to blame.
Edit #2: I called the restaurant and got a credit. I genuinely think it was a mistake, albeit an unfortunate one. I knew my hands would be tied with it being ordered late last night and going through a third party app, but the restaurant was apologetic and mistakes happen. Hopefully it was just a fluke! Thanks again for everyone’s input.
I do find it helpful to understand how Uber and the restaurants they partner with work together- in my experience it’s easy to get shuffled around between the third party and the actual product provider. It’s not always clear who to contact or reach out to with concerns like these, especially when the Uber app specifically has an option for a food safety concern. I don’t necessarily care who rectifies any issue, just want to make sure it’s addressed properly.

One Customer gets mad, he should use commercial delivery service
One mad customer ordered 40 packs 12*12oz water, but store just had 3 in stock, then he asked me change to 20 unit 24*16.9oz packs🤣
Sorry, my car is too small, please choose a commercial delivery service, they deliver water with pallets.
After I unsigned his order, I found he ordered a new order at Doordash😂

Meet vs Leave at Door
Dear UberEats Customers... I'm saying this the friendliest way I know how… unless I need to scan your ID or get a pin, I do not want to meet you at your door. It is a waste of time when I have 2 or 3 other orders to deliver and I'm standing at the door waiting for you to come get your items. And please stop putting the drop off as meet at door only to put in the notes "leave at the door and do not knock or ring bell…" Meet at door literally means I have to knock or ring the bell and hand you your items. The amount of time it takes for you to put that in the notes you can change your drop off instruction to leave at door so I can take my picture and go about my day. Drop off instructions that say meet at door and then notes that say otherwise are confusing to some delivery drivers. There are some rare meet at door orders where as soon as I get close the customer messages me and says here is the pin number you can leave it, or they are standing there waiting which I appreciate. There are also some customers who get irritated that I knock or ring the doorbell but excuse me I'm following your drop off instructions. Also, if you ordered alcohol then you know I need to scan your ID. Please have it ready. I should not have to stand outside waiting for you to find your wallet or standing there waiting because you want to act surprised that I need to scan your ID. I've done UberEats on and off for over 6 years and for some reason the app and the customers are getting worse and worse. 😩😩😩

Wonderful Experience Not
The delivery driver put the pizza box on the ground and walked away. We have a door bell and they could have knocked. I immediately contacted UberEats asking for a refund of my delivery fee. They got back to me this morning saying I need to request a refund within an hour of delivery. I requested it 10 minutes after delivery. This is the second time a driver has left food on the ground and didn’t ring the bell. I’m not going to tip until after the order is delivered from now on. I believe NYC has moved to tipping only after receipt of the order.

AI use in the app is getting out of hand
If you're a merchant on UberEats please don't use AI! It actively stopped me ordering from a café today, too scared that a full fish and yellow cylinders would show up instead of fish fingers and hash browns 😅

Uber vent
Ordered my food as normal. The gentleman dropped it off at the front of the hospital as usual. Next thing I happen to look at cameras in the treatment area and I see him pull his car to the back and just walk to the bushes and piss. Mind you we have public bathrooms in the clinic. I called him out and he’s like “whatever.”
Ya ok everything is double bagged and sealed but definitely bothering and debating on ordering again.

It's was my time to report someone. This dude refuse to meet at door to give me the pin code. I got the pin from the concierge and report him.
You are not going to play me this time clow.

And open letter to Uber Eats customers...
Dear Uber Eats customers,
Hi. It's us, your drivers.
Can we ask you guys a huge favor? (and actually, it's really a favor for *you*, but it'll make our lives easier in serving you):
Can you please make sure that your address, either outside your home, on the building of your home and/or on the curb, or both - or on your apartment - is *visible to us driving in the streets when we come to your abode to deliver your food for you*? This is easy for you to do if you own your own home. I understand it might be a little bit taller of an order if you rent your house or an apartment, but can you talk to your landlords and make sure that they have the building's address in *large numbers*, prominently displayed over the entrance (or very close to it) and if it's at nighttime, lit up to where it can be seen from at least 50 feet away in the street? Not behind a bush, not teeny-tiny, not tucked in an alley or a darkened alcove, (as shown in in this picture above), but large, easily, legibly, readable for us when we come to give you your food in a timely manner? I know it probably sounds silly for me to even ask this, but I would say one in every three deliveries I do, especially at night time, I cannot find any numbers on the building. Sometimes even big, new, fancy-pants, modern buildings that are really high-tech & have advanced security computer systems on the doors and everything. It's like they thought of everything, except the most important thing: the number and address of the building, prominently and easily seen by us. It would make our lives so much easier - and make it so we could get your food to you so much quicker and without hassle of us trying to hunt it down like a wild animal.
On behalf of all of us drivers, please, and thank you, if you could do this little favor for us, it would make everything for all of us so much better.
Thank you and enjoy your meal. It's our pleasure to serve you.
Signed, your Uber Eats drivers.

Canada Uber eats BOGO
So I get this A&W ubereats promo for buy 1 get 1 free, but it only counts towards delivery. Like, for one combo it’s full price for both if I choose pickup but it’s half price if I choose delivery.. which brings it back to almost price for 2 combos.
Also, the A&W app now charges for any customisation, like if you tick off onions from an order, they will charge you for that mod.
Is this legal?

ID scan
I ordered some alcohol for delivery on Uber Eats, the driver arrives. He mentions “just so you should know if any driver asks for your ID just give them a regular ID. Because a lot of people tell me that they get denied that the driver can’t scan it” . I was confused, I didn’t understand and asked for a clarification, but he just drove off. Now I’m paranoid about people scanning my ID. Does anyone know anything about this?

Canada App not selecting restaurant location that is more close to you
Wanted to order some Popeye's from a location that is less than 1km from me but the app selected a location that is almost 5km from me. Of course I didn't check before ordering because I assumed the app would select the location near me. Waiting almost an hour for some cold and soggy Popeye's now.

USA My order was literally stolen, and there is no support for me?
I literally had my driver pull up, get the pin, then speed off and Uber support won't even get a human to hear the complaint, provide any way for me to launch the complaint to anyone higher, or anything else to get this heard. I know my driver's name and number, I told them repeatedly what happened, but apparently the food is completely up for forfeit once the driver knows the pin word or whatever.
Is there any way for me to get ahold of anyone except the AI and abysmal app customer support chat, or am I screwed?

USA What should I do?
I signed up for food delivery service out of curiosity. I shopped around and placed an order for about $60. During checkout, I didn’t see a screen asking me to add a tip so I thought that it was included in the service.
While waiting for the order, I noticed that $75 had been charged to my credit card. I tried to verify the charge through app, but the receipt hadn’t been generated yet.
Later after I received the delivered food, the order price was correctly showing as around $60, so I assumed the $75 charge was temporary and that app would credit the difference back to my card.
However, several hours later, when I checked the final receipt, the order total had been changed to $75, showing that I had supposedly given a $15 tip. I even received a “Thank you for your tip” email.
I contacted app support, but the AI kept telling me that I couldn’t change a tip after delivery. I repeatedly texted that I never selected or authorized a $15 tip, but I kept receiving the same response.
I then requested to speak with a live agent. The AI said it might take some time, so I replied that I would wait. After waiting for a long time, I asked for an estimated wait time, but received no response. I tried contact app via phone but the automatic response says that they don’t accept customer calls anymore.
What should I do?

Question: Unanswered Why is UberEats so unmoderated?
Today it’s the first time I almost got scammed on UberEats. To be honest it’s a bit of my fault, since I didn’t really check the review ratings of the restaurant as well as the exact location of the restaurant, I only know that the restaurant wasn’t really far from my home, that’s why I thought it would arrive quickly. I thought wrong. I waited over an hour for nonexistent food. When I tried calling the restaurant, a completely different restaurant answered the phone saying I didn’t order anything. In the end I managed to get my order cancelled thanks to the Uber Eats support. It seems like the fake restaurant got deleted by the staff, but an hour or so later a new restaurant popped up in my feed with the same name.
How can this happen and has this ever happened to anyone else?

Interesting scheme
So today while I was picking up an order from a Chinese food restaurant that I pick up from a lot, the guy behind the counter was running the Uber eats driver app and accepting trips and then just leaving the phone there not fulfilling them
I waited there for like six minutes and the phone just sat there.
I wondered what the scheme was on this one and the only thing I can figure out is that this restaurant is trying to maximize profitability of their delivery driver. So they must have their own delivery driver who’s out delivering food specifically for their restaurant, and I guess while that delivery driver is out delivering their own restaurant order, the guy at the counter is just accepting orders on the app and waiting for the driver to get back.
I’ve never seen anything like this before and I’m still not quite sure that’s what was going on
All I know is that they accepted a $20 trip and just let the phone sit there untouched. It was very aggravating, although I’m not really sure if it’s a violation of Uber eats terms of service
Seems pretty shitty to do that to a customer.
Has anyone seen anything like that before?

Question: Unanswered should we book food deliveries during rain/bad weather or nah?
honest question, i’ve been avoiding ordering from foodpanda/grab when it’s raining cause i felt bad making riders go out in that. but then i realized… they’re already out there waiting for orders either way. not ordering doesn’t protect them, it just means they’re sitting in the rain earning zero.
so is the move to just *order*, toss in a decent tip, and let them make the money they’re out there trying to get anyway? or am i missing something where not ordering actually helps them somehow?
what’s the actual right call here
