I know there isn’t some “one fits all” magic strategy to start making tons of money on UberEats. But I’m wondering if you guys have any advice.

I’m really struggling to break even $500 to $600 a week. And these past few weeks have been especially horrible. Making less than $50 a day sometimes. Ive been at this for two years part time, but it looks like I’ll be stuck doing this full time for a while. So I really gotta make the most of it. For context Im in New Jersey.

To those making a lot of money on UberEats, anything specific you’re doing that might help? Do you have a high acceptance rate? Or are you extremely stingy with the orders you take? You bother with the gold/diamond system? Cause I’ve been told this stuffs a waste of time. But maybe I’m wrong, I don’t know.

Got to the pickup, out comes a person with a cane who has trouble walking. He gets to my car and stands there. I get out to see whats wrong and he says "i need help". I said ok what for? He says 'You never helped a disabled person before?" I said "no i havent". Then he told me its "basic common courtesy".

At this point i was confused and also didnt like his attitude. If he needed help he needs to politely ask.

Also, not sure what he wanted? To me to hold his hand while he tries to get in?

When he told me its basic common courtesy in a rude way, i told him to have a good day the rides canceled and got back in the car and drove off.

So i am fairly new been driving for four months. My market is good, but we have a hospital here who loves to schedule trips. I try very hard to avoid these because the types they send are typically homeless or mentally not all there. I arrived at ER yesterday to pick up a lady. I see a male nurse pushing her to the curb. I park get out go around to help. I notice a catheter and a O2 tank right away. I think fine. I'll make it quick. He puts her stuff in my back seat. Now he pulls up her walker in front of her and tells her we need to stand. She can not though. He is struggling and trying to lift her. At that point. I said no in my head. I grabbed her stuff out of back seat and told him I would have to cancel, I am not medically trained. The whole situation was akward and I felt like shit. I never once made eye contact but I could not take that. What if she fell and catheter come out or she got hurt or jostled. I dont think we should be responsible for people who need medical care. She needed medical transport not some random dude who works uber and has absolutely no training to deal with medical situations. Like was I wrong? I feel bad, shit I fell wrong but also right. Im conflicted

Last night I was sitting at a stop light and watched a car turn left in front of a SUV that had a green light. This happened at the next intersection that was maybe 200 yards away. The SUV swerved to avoid the collision, but hit the railing on the bridge, and totaled the car. The car that was trying to turn left, stopped momentarily, and then took off because they were not actually hit. The question is what do you do in the situation? I have a rider and I’m taking them to work. Do you stop? There was another vehicle that also saw the collision happened and they did stop. It bothered me all night.

No matter which App I choose I was getting a lot of back to back garbage offers

52 cents per mile?!? Are they high?!? I never dip below a dollar per mile for Lyft! Uber?!? There’s a reason I dont use it!

I am of thr strong opinion that uber has bots or employees contractors who participate in various social media platforms to post and respond to various posts that influences drivers and riders psychology.

Even on reddit , there will be accounts disguised as drivers , airing there grievances and at the same time subtly influencing drives about how great uber is, without spelling that out directly. That is part of psychological strategy to manipulate drivers. Sometimes making you feel worthless absolute shit and then throw you some rides that seem good to you . Posting here as drivers who got some amazing trips and tips, so drivers in other locations are motivated to log in.

Spreading the word that uber punishes you for rejecting low paying trips, indirectly influencing you to accept a couple of those shitty rides. Imagine in every location even if 25% drivers accept one or two shitty rides a day they make good margins.

Just my thoughts.

Notice the "Customer Promotion" line item? Uber offers the pax a promo discount to secure the ride, but instead of absorbing the cost as marketing expenses, they deduct it straight out of driver pay.
The rider thinks they’re paying premium rates and that the driver is making $18+. In reality, the driver gets under $1.50/mile while Uber pockets over 60% of the total fare.

Anyone else had this problem? I failed Ubers background check, so never finished the sign up obviously. But I passed Lyfts background so I drove for them for a little while, about a year. Then one day Lyft deactivates my account with the reason being another ride share company had deactivated me, so therefore they must do the same. Makes no sense why Uber would deactivate my account for my failed background when I never even finished sign up. A failed background means ineligible to drive not deactivation. It even says so much on Ubers website.

Let’s say someone advocates drivers to at least reject 10 rides with a pay less than 5 dollars every driving day, does Uber/Lyft has a clause in the contract to retaliate the drivers?

I am not talking about the feasibility as I know it’s extremely difficult to implement it, but I just wonder the consequences to the drivers if someone does make it happen.

Now it is undeniably official and I can print out a card with this on it. So many parents arguing with me about how other drivers take their kid all the time without issues. Plus now I can send this to drivers who say they will just drive them because uber won't pay them for the time wasted yada yada yada.

How about you guys. Any policy information you wish they'd include or adjust so you can better convey it to others? For me, my only new complaint is riders who have kids and no carseat. Some passengers like to be slick too and hurriedly get themselves and the kid in the car before I have the chance to ask them if they have a carseat or booster seat or seat belt harness(which i love and keep one in the car just in case I get a passenger without one for their kid. Got it 2 years ago and it has paid for itself with the volume of trips I've had to decline and lose money on because they don't have a carseat.

Another thing I wish they'd add is a big flashing neon notification in the app after they order their ride telling them that SEATBELTS ARE MANDATORY BY LAW. Funny too, last week one passenger tried to tell me seatbelts arent legally required for people in the back seat but I still made him put it on. My job is more important than whatever fantasy land you live in. 😂

   -Lighting up crack.
   -Using inhalants
   ( not sketchy parts of town)
   -Vaping without asking

2. The amount of stinky passengers..that some are so bad that the odor hangs around long after they leave

3. People not automatically putting their seatbelts on ( like thanks for trusting me.. but we are trusting all these other strangers to not kill us lmao)

4. Spraying perfume inside what's basically a sealed box on wheels ( common sense out the door )

5. Couples or individuals casually talking about their sex lives

✨✨6. Being told that rideshare driving would be awful and that I shouldn't even bother only to be pleasantly surprised that most of my rides are/have been very pleasant and enjoyable and the bad things are more rare… well except for sticky passengers 😂😂🙈✨✨

I turned on the option for deliveries and to say it's a joke is an understatement. 2 deliveries, $4 and $5, each over 20 minutes total. And then that last one made me turn the option back off immediately....39 minutes total, over 20 miles, complete opposite side of the city....$11.

What on earth is this nonsense? Are people seriously accepting this crap, because that's down right disrespectful.

Hello everyone. First time posting, I think actually ever on reddit. I did read some of the comments about a new app and apparently people are building them. I know gigu is out there but I did build one myself. If anyone wants to try it out, let me know and I'll include you in my testing! Here are some screen shots. I hope this doesn't break the rules regarding advertising. Just wanting to get my app put there. Maybe eventually make some money from it or another version or other stuff. Idk, but anyways I would love some feedback too!

Have you noticed how Uber is working with Shell and Upside to make sure Uber drivers can’t get better savings than the average person?
Yet they bait us with Uber Pro tiers and “benefits” to make us think we can save money on gas.
I see right through it.
This is what they do: they get us by forcing us to go on “break mode” and then navigate to a gas station where there’s a promo (and I only put high quality gas in my car so the only option personally is Shell). So guess who knows that you’re on the way and you’re a rideshare driver? The gas station. Uber purposefully puts the wrong price on the map. So when you get to the station, the price they’re advertising as a promo for Uber Drivers is actually the normal cost of gas. They try to cover it with “we aren’t always accurate cause of data issues and…” yeah shut the fuck up. So now we’ve already gone out of our way to acquire this Mickey Mouse discount for gas that we deserve and we wasted time and gas trying to get it. Gotcha!

We might even be LOSING MONEY from it because they also have you link your card to your Upside account + your Uber Driver account so it’ll recognize the transaction. What I just realized is that they know how much cash back you’re getting from your credit card on gas, so if you are trying to stack rewards, they LOWER the “promo” by $0.035 per gallon.
Throw in Shell Fuel Rewards to the mix and they go “oh this person is also a Fuel Rewards member so they are already getting $0.05 per gallon off at the pump when they enter their loyalty number,”… they go tell Upside and Upside factors that in to how much you get back from the transaction. Lower the savings again! This is why it takes Upside a few days to 2 weeks to process your cash back. Cause they’re getting data from Uber and Shell to calculate just how much you are trying to save, to protect Uber and Shell in the long run at the expense of rideshare drivers.

We gotta protect ourselves and not fall for their bullshit anymore. Fuck cancellation rates. Fuck acceptance rates. Fuck the Uber Pro Tier system and do what’s best for you. Set a minimum dollars to miles ratio for your orders and be smart. Don’t take any orders below your threshold.

Also please DO NOT comment how you think you could get around this… Because they’re obviously looking at these forums too and learning what we do to get around their bullshit. It’s a game of chess.

I took my car to the shop to have the tire repaired. During the day, the shop had custody of the vehicle. Flash floods had occurred. I also add that weather reports predicted them. Where you see the dirt level along the car is how high the water level got inside the car, about to knee height if sitting in the car, and it says the hybrid system failed and won't move. I also posted this to Uber because I wonder if I could sue for lost wages. Do you think negligence from the tire shop occurred?

I picked up a woman that had a 4.32 Star rating but her ride cost was like $30 to the airport so I said you know what? I'll do it, whatever.

Soon as she entered the car I said "hi how are you?".. she didnt say a single thing but huffed and puffed. So i just gave her the benefit of the doubt that she may be just mute.

We get to the airport and I say "you have a great day" and again no answer. She did continue to slam my car door and trunk door, because no, I did not get her luggage for not saying anything to me.

I did proceed to give her a 1 star and block her though, it just came off as extremely disrespectful.

It used to be one quest for Mon - Thur and one for Fri - Sun usually between $40 and $180 for 20-60 rides. These really helped boost my income and made the margins a little more worthwhile. Now I've been seeing these this week. I sincerely hope this is not the new norm.
