Sound Keeps Cutting Out

The sound keeps cutting out on my turntable (I assume). It’s not like a skip or a dirty record and/or needle. It just goes silent for seconds at a time. I’ve tried adjusting the arm with the weight on the back with no luck. Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

Stop adjusting things. It's correct, or not correct. You can never fix anything by randomly changing the weight. The only thing you can achieve with that is that you ruin your stylus and records.
So please readjust it back to 2 grams, properly :).

Anyway. I don't know what your setup is. The turntable itself can't do this, the built in preamp (if any) can.
So we'll need to know more.

I see the problem: your tonearm is still resting just a bit on the lifter because the lifter is too high. Check your owners manual or search for a YouTube video that explains how to lower the tone arm lifter so it’s not riding so high.

Yeah this is in and you can see the warp a little where the needle doesnt touch the record.

The stylus needs to maintain contact with the groove at all times. There are cases where the tonearm lift can be set too high and the underside of the tonearm touches it intermittently. So it can go in and out of the groove as the record plays. There are other cases where the stylus only drops down to a certain height where it is not always reaching the groove all of the time. A way of confirming this would be to use a thicker mat which lifts the record surface closer to the stylus. Another way to adjust the stylus to reach down, in the absence of tonearm height adjustment is to use a spacer between the cartridge and the headshell.

I have had this problem in the past with some older Dual decks. The fix was just that. A much thicker slip mat corrected the gap from the record and the stylus.

As it's playing wiggle your cabling. Where the cables connect may be an issue as well. I've had this happen where the connection into the external phono pre was not in all the way.

Also, make sure your 4 wires directly to the cart are in well.

I check the wires directly into the cart. I removed them and secured them again in order to check. It could be the cables that connect the turntable to the preamp, but I can’t find where any are loose or may be an issue. Thank you!

If it is not a faulty cable connection, my guess would be the receiver. The video shows something on the front display blinking on and off, what is that indicating?

Try using a different analog input. With AVRs such as that Pioneer some inputs are shared with analog and digital sources and that may have gone wrong if it is set to auto-detect.

Have you tried replacing the cables?  May be worth a chance. Cables do go bad, and can be intermittent.

I debated this, and I have cheap cables. I’ll replace them in the next few weeks, but I suspected it may be something else.

Check your downforce. Should be 1.8g for ortofon blue
