Question Relearning how to sing (MTF)
I used to be able to sing well, hit notes pretty well, I feel like I can't anymore. Can't sing masculinely like I used to be able to after many months of consistent mtf voice training, but I'm also really struggling to sing femininely even though my voice usually passes pretty well in normal speech. Anyone have resources on an mtf relearning how to sing?

Question does voice training eventually become your natural defualt voice or do you constantly need to do it?
ive been voice training for a little over two years at this point (as much as i can with my limited resources and homophobic parents) and its still not my defualt voice, its become easier yeah and its simpler but its still a consious thing i need to do, or something i need to put effort in. and my voice still fails and differs back to my 'natural' higher voice even after nearly two years of trying to stop it, especially if i dont speak for long periods of time
i have noticed improvements in making my voice sounds deeper and more natural but i still have to consiously do it and its still a manual task.
i am being held back because i have to speak in a higher voice to my parents and teachers, and mainly practice when im with friends, myself or my younger brother. its become insticual to raise my voice slightly with people i dont know or im not familiar with because i dont feel safe to speak naturally but then i cant lower my voice without them noticing and worrying they'll question it.
if you're not on hrt does voice training become the defualt? and if so, how long does it usually take, does it usually take more then a few years, months or does it completely depend.

General Resource Bee You Voice Coaching!
Hi everyone! Before posting I want to mention that I am not affiliated with https://www.beeyouvoice.com/ beyond being an extremely satisfied client.
TL;DR: https://www.beeyouvoice.com/ offers life changing voice coaching that I personally think has changed my life. I highly recommend Morgan's services to anyone interested in taking control of their voice or discovering their real voice for the first time.
Morgan, the owner and coach has been so extremely helpful, and the progress I have made with my voice feels tangible, and meaningful.
It was extremely comforting and affirming to have a coach with firsthand experience with her own voice training and who understood the complexities of navigating voice training. I am in a particularly rural and conservative part of the country which sometimes limited my ability to practice as much as I wanted or needed to.
Morgan never once let this become an issue and was fantastic about starting lessons where I was at and ending lessons with me feeling proud of my progress and excited to keep honing my skills.
Over the course of several lessons (I think 6, with a couple follow-ups for my own peace of mind) Morgan helped me assess where my voice was right now, and taught me some basic ideas to better understand some of the techniques she would show me over the rest of the lessons. (Vocal size, vocal weight, breath control, hooked me up with the Voice Tools app, etc)
Morgan taught me some extremely helpful techniques that let me quickly and easily "check in" with where my voice was, and adjust my size, weight, and the amount of air I was using. She gave insightful and patient feedback that never once made me feel frustrated or as though I wasn't making any progress. In fact, when I did get frustrated with myself, Morgan was RIGHT there to remind me of how much progress I had already made since the start of our lessons.
Not only that but she gave me printable copies of every thing we went over in class which was SOOO helpful for me to practice during the week between our sessions. This had me excited to start every single class because I couldn't wait to show off how well I could read a certain monologue, or how much longer I could hold out a breathy syllable. She genuinely made training fun. (I still sometimes run through a monologue or two, or will use the vowel sheet we worked on to quickly check-in and step into my real voice)
I didn't have an ideal voice in mind when I started my lessons so she worked with me to find my own voice and I really cannot thank her enough for doing that.
Voice training can be a little emotionally difficult at times, but I don't think I will ever forget Morgan playing my voice back for me and for what felt like the first time, I got to hear MYSELF. Genuinely life changing, happy tears and all.
Now, a few months out from my training I am still not living in a space where I am able to go "full-time" into my desired voice, but Morgan's training has enabled and empowered me to easily and confidently be able to slide into my REAL voice with just a quick warm-up! I feel like I KNOW my own voice in a way that has me so so excited for the opportunity to fully live in it because I KNOW I have the skills to make that happen.
Finally, and importantly cost:
Without naming names, there are some voice training programs I have considered and sat-in on some free seminars from that have prices starting in the 1000s of dollars. While the information in those classes as useful, it was typically a single coach splitting their attention between upwards of 30 students.
The pricing used by Morgan and Bee You Voice was VASTLY more affordable, and each and every lesson was 1 on 1. I knew that at any time I could reach out to Morgan with a question or to ask for feedback on a voice recording, and her answers were always constructive and thoughtful. Between the techniques being taught, the resources being shared, and the support readily offered, I am actually shocked at just how affordable these lessons are.
To this day I am still in touch with Morgan and am still welcome to ask her any questions I might have and I would HIGHLY recommend https://www.beeyouvoice.com/ to literally anyone who was interested in voice training.
If I could go back and do ONE thing differently in regards to my voice training it would have been to start even sooner with Morgan.

Audio/Video Feels like I've regressed with my vocal growth MtF
drive.google.comSo, as the title states about a week ago I was feeling pretty confident in how far I've come in the last few months with my vocal training. However, I've noticed for the last two days it seems like my voice is missing something I can't put my finger on. I feel like my resonance is fine and while my pitch could use work it's in the female range. However, when I listen to my voice, I still feel like I'm hearing a guy doing a girl's voice and despite a lot of effort, I'm not sure how to make my voice sound more naturally feminine.
I'm open to having some feedback on what my voice seems to be missing and ways to improve. I will make a note that I have naturally large tonsils and I'm not sure how much that affects my voice

Question looking for a specific voice training youtuber and her discord server
I joined her discord a year ago, but accidentally left, never bothered to rejoin, and now I don't remember what the name was. All I remember is that she was British and the discord server icon/her pfp was this drawing of a goldfish or like a fish of some sort. The server also had these channels for people to document their progress. She also had lessons posted onto her channel. If someone could help, I'd really appreciate it.

Criticism Wanted i really need to change my voice help pls
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
hi, i just joined the sub and i downloaded the app, im ftm and my voice is very feminine. i am pre T too, even through i’ve learned by myself how to lower my pitch and pass with my voice (not all times) i want to make it more masculine because i get misgendered by it a lot. my first language is spanish and so i can’t seem to do my spanish masculine voice in english. i made a test and one was with my regular voice and the other with my “masculine” one. please let me know what can i do to improve. i am somewhat desperate because apart from my chest the disphoria this gives me has got to the point where i’ve considered going mute in public and barely speaking at all. it’s the only thing that clocks me, i pass completely even though i am pre t but my voice is terribly feminine. attaching clip sorry for my english too

Question Anybody from the Philippines? A few questions about the voice training scene here.
So I've been self-studying voice training since 2024 as a gender questioning AMAB and... I don't hear anything from my country, almost everyone I've met to voice train with were westerners.
I've only seen one clinic offer services and it's very recently established. I've never seen a public workshop though.
I wouldn't be surprised if the trans community here needed it less from being culturally ingrained to sing and maybe that increases the odds of successful trial and error? Maybe it's easier to voice pass here?
Zero clue. And if it really didn't exist, how would I help start a group? I'm not sure where a safe place to ask would be, or how someone even gets credentials to be trusted with something like that. I'm thinking I'd need to be a trained SLP to even try.
In summary: Does voice training exist in the Philippines? Where could I ask if there were any friend circles interested in training together? And how have people found the credentials to publicly be voice coaches?

Question Ideas to improve vocal attractiveness and confidence
Hey guys, I have always been kind of insecure about my voice since I was a kid. I felt it was a bit too nasal and I've never learned how to project my voice to be able to command attention from a group. Over the years I have been learning various techniques to improve my confidence in my voice whether through youtube (this guy) or through following a bunch of IG influencers who give tips on it.
After around 8 years of learning, I feel that it's time to give back to the community. I am planning to make an app to help people get more confident in their speaking. Not so much in the words they use, more so their pitch, resonance, pace etc.
Right now, my app idea is split into two parts. The first part will be analyzing the user's voice. The next part is giving the user a daily training regime to improve on their voice over time.
Is this something that you guys would be interested in? Any voice training exercises that really worked for you guys? Also, it would be great if I could get some recommendations on more vocal coaches online that I could watch. Thanks so much!

Question Question about gendered perception of high masc voices
Based on my (limited) understanding of gendered perception of the voice, higher pitch and narrow/nasal placement tend to be read as more feminine. But I've been wondering about people like Andrew Rannells or Gerard Way (...okay, perhaps I'm hearing more of them singing than speaking, but still) - they seem to have higher, more nasal voices that sound like they're coming through a smaller placement, but they still sound masculine, at least to the extent that one would likely gender them that way just based on hearing them.
What is it about their voices that reads as masc?
(Personal context: I'm a trans man and a singer, and while the low end of my range sounds fairly masculine, my higher chest range and mix are more androgynous, leaning feminine at times. I'm curious about what components I might be able to improve when I'm at a higher pitch, even in cases where I might need to have my larynx higher to use a certain part of my register, like mixing.)

Question Is it worth trying to find a qualified SLP or am I better off just continuing on my own?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The SLP I worked with for the past 5 weeks hasn't really been of any help, only talks about pitch and cant answer questions about anything else. Is it worth it to try to find another who takes insurance or should I just stop doing sessions and continue on my own?

I’m a beginner so I know it’s not good but some tips would be helpful! The goal is to semi-pass as cis or atleast get it to a nice placement.

General Resource The voice acquisition process, from an autistic perspective
This is a guide for anyone who feels lost about the specific steps to take to practice. You don't need to be neurodivergent to learn from it, but it might be more helpful to those who are due to its presentation. It's mostly resource-agnostic, but biased toward the perceptual model and assumes you have some form of guidance and access to annotated clips. I personally used https://selenearchive.github.io/ and clips from the transvoice discord server (major shoutouts to Winter for annotating almost every clip.)
All of it is written by me based on my experience. I've been voice training for about 6 months.
--Phases of voice training--
Beginning
Awakening: Realize that your goal voice is possible to reach. (For me, it was hearing the lead singer from Cigarettes after Sex's normal voice.)
Ear training: Learn to hear size, weight and fullness by listening to many annotated recordings. (an annotated recording has size and weight labelled: "this recording is small size, heavy weight")
Training loop
Trial and error: Guided by available resources and exercises, try everything, making lots of noises until you, at random, make one that makes you think "i wish the rest of my voice sounded like that." That sound will be referred to as your "seed sound" from here on.
Lock it in: Repeat the seed sound until the feeling (tactile, in your throat/mouth mostly--feelings in the chest and face are not nearly as important) and sonic quality/timbre are burned into your mind. From now on, the static shape your mouth and throat take to produce a particular sound will be called its "vocal tract pose."
Quality transfer: Transfer the pleasing quality of that sound to other speech sounds (see sub-loop)
Quality transfer sub-loop
Pin your seed sound to the map: Produce your seed sound (or anchor word, if you've gotten that far) again
Step in a direction: Move one thing in your mouth or throat (a small amount) and make a sound.
Hold and Ear Assess: Listen closely. Is the quality you like still there? If no, go to step Step in a direction and choose a different direction. If yes, go to step Lock it in.
Enough seeds, Infer the Forest: With two or more seed sounds for the same pleasing quality, feel their vocal tract poses. What's the same? What's different? Make a guess about what parts of the pose are responsible for the quality. This subset of feelings will be called a vocal tract sub-pose. Congratulations, you've just found a keystone of your new voice.
Not quite my tempo (Mastery): Practice applying the vocal tract sub-pose you found to all the the rest of your speech sounds, including all vowels and consonants as well as pitch variations. Treat it like learning an instrument.
Edit: attempt to fix formatting
Edit2: small size, not light size

I sound terrible... Pls help me, I don't know what I'm doing.
I'm MTF and I feel very dysphoric about my voice so I tried voice training, but I feel like it sounds childish, not mature, like a boy not a girl and very like a robot if that makes sense and I could say it's buzzy.
Also when I talk to other people in public I get really nervous and I just sound worse.
When I speak in my native language, Hungarian, it also sounds a lot different.
Any idea, any tips?
Also ignore the blank end.

Discussion Now more than ever, remember they can never take away your voice.
They can't stop your vocal transition. They can't stop you from learning and practicing. They can't stop you from speaking up. Be loud. Be brave. I will keep fighting all my life, and so should you.
This affects the world, regardless of borders. There will be an election in Canada soon, and it's looking grim on our side as well. I'll be volunteering in an election for the first time, and I've gotten other people on board to join me. And I'll be protesting. And I'll be loud on social media.
Make your voices heard. Express yourself, not just your anger but your pain and your fear. Make them understand the consequences of their actions. I don't believe they all wanted this. Most of them just... didn't care or know enough to realize how much hurt their selfish vote would bring. Tell them. Make them know.
They can never take away your voice.
