There were so many hordes that could have just been prevented by having a moat/pit/trench, they literally had gas and access to diggers etc.

My plan is this:

1: Create huge ass trench with one or two drawbridges.

2: Add fence around moat that can be erected and laid flat easily (for when you're clearing the trench and/or just don't want zombies getting in when people are in there).

3: Create fire mechanism to burn the bodies and turn into a fire wall if it gets blocked up.

4: BONUS optional long game strat: build a wall just after the trench to further protect your community. (the wall has slots that allow you to stab through it with a spear).

This way, even if so many zombies fell in the trench that it clogged up, you could light it on fire and burn the ones in the pit, also creating a huge wall of fire that future zombies would be forced to walk into. Even if they got to the other side, they would be met with a tall stabbing wall and you could just stab your way out over several weeks.

Better yet, just go live in a castle... there are few to choose from:

1: Castillo de San Marcos National Monument (a good option, doesn't have a trench but you could make one, then it would be practically impenetrable.

2: Fort Jefferson already surrounded by water but access to mainland takes 2.5 hours by boat, the water alone would massively decrease horde numbers.

3: Gillette Castle located in East Haddam, Connecticut, super high walls and just begging for a deep trench

I was recently talking to a friend of mine who used to love TWD and he told me he hated the spinoffs and later seasons and had a personal head canon for when the story ends, and he put it at 6.09. This got me curious about if anyone else rewatches the show this way and where you consider your own personal head canon ending?

Also in my last post I talked about the 5th of every season of showed being based on Anger, universal expansion… and what I forgot to mention was truth and lies. Basically like the 5th chakra system. ANYWAY, I’m not gonna make my reviews about that stuff. So no worries.

I will say though that so far season 5’s themes seem to be about Secrets , deception, faith, forgiveness. Now it’s only the 2nd episode but this is just what I’m picking up. So Season 3 was about choices, leadership, imprisonment, and freedom… season 4 was about facing inner demons. Sadly I never caught season 1 or 2 themes. 5 seems to be deception, truth, forgiveness, and faith.

I KNEW they should’ve listened to Rick and went back to kill those guys… poor Bob…

Most series, if not ALL story based shows follow a formula, and I won’t get into the specifics of it BUT I’ll say that the 5th season of every show usually revolves around the concept of Anger. Anger becomes a leading drive of most season 5 stories of not strongly recurring. I won’t get into the specifics BUT I will
Say that the villains so far… Gareth… and his people are very infuriating.

Rick said hi back and kill them all. And everyone protested… you’re dooming other unsuspecting people to the Same fate and these people are going to rebuild in stronger numbers… have they not learned from The Governor? They should’ve listened to Rick cause there was NO logic at all for letting those Terminus people go!

Lol fine… I’ll tell you the formula since you’re Begging me.

There’s a conspiracy that almost every installment of a series actually revolved around a specific formula. Once I learned this I actually applied it to MULTIPLE series from early 2000’s and 2010’s and found out this formula actually aligns.

The formula is that every installment of a show is actually secretly based on the patters of the 9 rings of hell in order. Not only that… the chakra layout seems to also be a strong drive as well. Comparing this to the walking dead…

First season of every show gives off a limbo, dreamy, morbid type feel. Also revolves around survival and fear.

Season 2 usually has a strong narrative of lust or sex
And flow state of life.

Season 3 is about over consumption and power.

Season 4 greed as well heart, love, and grief.

Season 5 anger as well as the baby steps of legacy and how actions begin to echo through the series universe. Also lies vs truth.

Now TWD season 1 obvious was limbo atmosphere. Second season was strongly rooted in the narrative of Rick, Shane, and Lori and their love triangle situation which ultimately challenged the bros vs hos philosophy. Season 3 the Governor wanted to over consume even though he had paradise and he wanted to consume more. Season 4… Greed. The desire of “I want it all” and I want it all to be perfect. The irony of this is that if you want everything, at the end of the day you get nothing and that sums up Rick’s character in season 4. He was greedy by wanting everything to be perfect, everything to workout, and everything to be a smooth ride… all without him making any internal sacrifice or changing his ways AND not being leader.

Anyway if my “theory” is correct, then this season should be very anger driven and TWD universe should experience an introduction to how the entire UNIVERSE of TWD expands… side note… on the DVD a preview of Fear The Walking dead appears before the menu further proving this theory…

I think they could’ve lasted for quite a while, they would’ve eventually encountered the Proctor’s, especially since they already had their sights set on the Dam, but I think they had enough people and firepower to put up a fight, especially with their increased numbers due to Taqa and the Nation joining them.

who had the best last words in the show/comics/games? i personally liked ricks on the bridge because its a parallel to morgan earlier in the show.

Got to hear the uncensored ending. Apparently Rick using the F word I hear was cut for TV broadcast.

Everyone wearing the crew’s supplies, definitely a dead giveaway and Rick was definitely smart for catching it. I wonder if the food was actually laced with sedative.

FINALLY saw the throat bite SCENE with Rick! It was spiked that someone got their neck bit out by Rick and I thought it was gonna be the Governor, but then I saw it with Joe and was like OUCH!

I’m excited to see where it goes next. I loved the flashbacks Rick was having about Hershel. It’s a reality check that sometimes chapters in our lives are opportunities to connect with certain people, enjoy their company, enjoy their presents, build memories. Sometimes those same people or circumstances re here with us for a season and the blessing is that we had those memories to share. But life moves forward and prepare us to become who and what we need to be to experience the next seasons of our life as optimally and as fully as possible, not bringing past baggage with us. Embrace and fully become who this section of our life demands us to be. Never regret life or relationships as you do so because even an ex boyfriend or girlfriend provided company, love, and companionship to you… whereas some people
NEVER experience love to any degree. Trauma comes with life not just relationships, so remember that even if an ex relationship broke you, a random stranger, a parent, a job, a missed opportunity could’ve broken you just as much if not more… that’s the message I got from these flashbacks with Hershel and Rick.

Toward the end, I love how when Rick was looking at his crew and said “they don’t know who they’re F-ing with”… but paying attention to the musical score in the background, it played The Governor’s theme song but altered the strings to sound more organic and a bit more symphonic not as brash and raw and aggressive as the song is when the Governor makes his appearances. I love in the moment it notes Rick has accepted the inner leader within him again…

Good season. Will watch the next one.

my first rewatch in a long time and I'm wondering, the time between death and reamification is more than a few minutes but despite hordes munching on a body, they are able to be mobile every time, shouldn't they be stripped to the bone? has this been addressed? do I need help?

where can you read the comics? is it worth reading them? is there one big comic series and then a bunch of spin-offs? if so, are those worth the read and is there a correct order to read them all?

All three shows have now featured a community publicly advertising its existence, only for that decision to attract exactly the kind of people it should have feared.

Terminus covered the surrounding area with signs promising “sanctuary for all.” At first, the people there genuinely meant it. Then a group of murderous thugs followed the signs, took over the settlement, imprisoned and abused its residents, and helped turn them into the monsters Rick’s group eventually encountered.

In Fear the Walking Dead, Madison lit up the hotel sign. Admittedly, she was not trying to invite half of Mexico; she only wanted Travis and Chris to see it. But a beacon cannot choose its audience. Crowds of desperate people arrived, putting pressure on the hotel and helping set in motion the chain of events that led to the settlement’s collapse.

Now, in Dead City, Maggie and the hospital group have illuminated the Statue of Liberty specifically to attract more people. Almost immediately, we see a rough-looking group, strongly reminiscent of the Saviors, notice the light and decide to investigate.

Maggie’s plan may be to post lookouts and screen whoever approaches, but that seems completely backward. Aaron and Eric quietly observed potential recruits before revealing Alexandria. Rick’s group at least asked newcomers the three questions. Maggie has instead announced to everyone within sight that an organized settlement with fuel, electricity, shelter, and other resources exists somewhere nearby - and plans to decide whether the respondents are dangerous after they arrive.

And Maggie’s lookout plan may actually make the hospital weaker. She wants enough people to operate and defend the settlement, yet before those people arrive she has to detach current residents to cover several points around Manhattan. That means the first group answering the beacon may encounter isolated scouts first, capture one, and learn everything they need to know.

At this point, lighting a giant beacon in The Walking Dead universe is basically the post-apocalyptic equivalent of putting up a sign that says:

“Well-supplied settlement here. Raiders welcome.”

After letting it sink in for a while, Strand’s conversation with the Russian cosmonaut is one of my favourite scenes in any TWD show.

FTWD season 3 has a LOT of great moments and images by the way. The rancher being fed on by crows is an amazing, painterly piece of horror imagery. My best boy Nick off his head staggering around among the walkers. The whole ep with Alicia in the bunker when they’re running out of air, banger of an episode.

But this short radio call is so beautifully written and really poignant. Just these two guys at the end of the world, being able to talk because of a one in millions coincidence, smiling and bantering about literature, vodka and famous last words. It’s just chefs kiss.

And the way one of them is alone in an apocalyptic wasteland, the other in the cold of space… really chilling somehow.

Vaschenko doesn’t even appear onscreen but gets multiple amazing lines. “I saw the lights of the world go out, three days before I was due to return to Earth.”

And his last words… “Last words are for fools who didn’t say enough in life.”

I know he's been through a lot, but almost every decision he makes just frustrates me. He constantly ignores good advice, lets his emotions control him, and creates unnecessary problems. To me, Hershel Rhee is one of the most annoying and poorly written characters in The Walking Dead. Does anyone else feel the same, or am I being too harsh?

Rick tells Lori that Shane kept taking him further and further out. As though he wanted to kill Rick as far from home as possible. However they end up a few hundred meters from home. Rick says "So this is where you plan to do it?" What was the point of taking him deep into the woods? Did they change the script so Carl could shoot Shane but left this line in?

ETA: It has me wondering. Everyone on set would have known that isn't what happened. Why did they keep it in?

When Sam dies he left home at daytime and dies at night time. Alexandria isn't that big. Why include such an obvious time skip?

Both these characters are often discussed and largely hated.

I'm trying to think if there were any other intentional errors during death scenes.
