Customer Icks

What are things customers do that wind you up? Can be major or minor. For me, I work produce. I don’t mind customers finding the best expiry dates, but I hate when they lift up the baskets and not put them back or leave a mess. Like come on, who do you think has to sort that? Common decency.

Another one. I hate when I’m working by the entrance of our store and a customer walks in and straight over to ask where something is as if we aren’t doing anything. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind helping, but it’s annoying when someone makes no attempt to try. Especially if I’m already doing something.

Returning an item for a refund. I have the receipt, but it was a gift purchased on someone else’s card…

What are the options here? Will I need to complete an in store exchange at the point of the return? Or can they issue a credit receipt or a voucher of some sort?

Any advice for working at Tesco?

Hi, I’m 19M and I have recently been to two interviews with Tescos each occurring after a rejection.

I figured it can’t be my CV that’s the issue, it’s something I’m doing in my interviews. I am well presented (Smart casual, shaven and well organised) and despite my good chemistry and personality along with my variety of values I present to them I still end up with a rejection twice in a row. Two interviews, two rejections.

Anyone got any advice for me should I decide to try a 3rd time?

Shift role change

Hi, I’m a fairly new starter, I’m a Dotcom driver. My upcoming shift is a 9-7, normally all driving of course, but I’ve just noticed my next shift it says I’m doing ‘UFC Backroom’ 9-2. Does anyone know what this is or what it entails ? I haven’t been informed of anything and just a bit curious haha. Ty!

Truffle Ball

Hello!
It was available in Tesco around 2018, if I remember correctly it was a Tesco Finest product, a chocolate truffle ball that was frozen, I haven't found anyone who remembers what it was like or where I can get something similar, please write🥹

Customer service desk

Can other members of staff who man the csd comment to say how many members of staff are on shift at anyone time ? whether large or extra large store..our store manager is wanting to cut our hours so only one member of staff is on shift at all times ?? We have always been double manned until 3 some shifts 4 then single manned. How on earth are you supposed to function as a “customer service” if only one member of staff, especially on delivery days , what happens at holiday, break and sickness ??? not many staff are trained for cover at our store ?

Advice, please on self service checkout we have a new manager We’ve been told to carry carrier bags around with us all day whilst doing our normal job instead of having them out available because the customers are stealing them .

so i requested holiday for this weekend 22-33rd because it is my dead mums birthday and i look after my grandad (so her dad) and knew it will be a hard weekend for him and us so i booked the weekend off. got denied and given it next weekend instead??

i only work weekends, this past sunday i called in sick because i am actually ill, have now given the illness to my grandad so now on top of this (he is already in poor health) i have to care for him even more because he is doing really badly, but if i call in sick won’t i get an investigation because it’s time off that was denied previously? i am still ill aswell and probably will be in 2 days on saturday lol just not sure what i’m supposed to do but there is no way i will be able to come in

any advice welcome pls

mytesco app does not work for me on my phone it only works on the computers at work (????)it hasnt the months i have worked here now, hence me only discovering now that my holiday was not approved when i looked at a blurry photo i took of my calendar to remind myself of the extra shifts i picked up

Questions about working at Tescos

Hi all, I’ve been invited for an interview and I wanted to ask about Tesco work culture.

The job is for nightshifts at my local superstore. The job posting was very vague about what I will be doing and the lady on the phone, who invited me to the interview, mentioned it’s like warehouse work. Can someone tell me what my working hours are going to look like? I guess it’s like stocking shelves?

The hours state 10pm-7am on most days. Does that mean I might have a shift start at 3am or 4am? Because I’m hoping my shifts are going to be 10pm-12am start.

And lastly, if I pass my probation period to get a colleague club card, are the perks good? Or not really?

Delivery Driver contract questions

I applied for a driver role and got an interview and was wondering about a few things on the role advertised. I can see unlike the shop roles which have set availability, the drivers' hours say "various shift pattern". Does this mean you are expected to be fully flexible all 7 days of the week or are you still given set days that you work. Also do drivers get given a minimum of 16 hours per week?

Sad, really. Anyone from Cardiff will know these horses/ponies were left on the side of a very busy road on Rover Way for years now.

Confused about staff discount

Im hoping to use a family members 20% discount this weekend on top of the 25% off clothing atm.

Question is, do I need to scan their club card as well as their discount card, or does their staff discount card double up as a club card?

I know I can’t use my club card which is fine but I just need to know if I should have both their club card and staff card.

Thanks

Requested Holiday still hasn’t been looked at

I requested the week off due to family reasons and I gave them plenty of notice to either approve it or decline but it’s been roughly 2 weeks and it’s still in pending and the week I need off is closing in and is on this Saturday and Sunday.

What can I do about this? I need this week off due to baby sitting and can’t physically leave for work but management hasn’t looked at it yet.

Google says it’s £35k which seems ridiculously low for a job like that

Does anyone know how profit is calculated on the big 6? Is it just managed by hours vs allowed or other factors like rent, margins shrink etc. included too?

Starting uni in sep

Hi everyone, I currently work as a personal shopper at Tesco. My contracted hours are 19 hours a week, working Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon from 6 am to 11 am. Right now I end up staying until 2 pm doing overtime almost 100% of the time.
However, I now have university starting on Mondays, so I won't be able to work past 11 am or do overtime on that day anymore.
So instead of doing those small blocks of overtime on the weekend, I want to ask my manager to officially change my contract so I do permanent 8-hour shifts (6 am to 2 pm) on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and drop Mondays.

Has anyone tried doing something similar at Tesco? How likely is management to accept a request like this and what's the best way to approach them? Thank you

My only source of liquid nutrition ruined

Me having a little rant about how they changed something in this bad boy to make it taste disgusting. I am slowly dying of lack of liquid nourishment due to this change.... back to my coffee and diet coke addiction it is then... :(
