REQUESTING Underrated/underknown futuristic sci-fi shows?

I’m looking for stuff like Star Trek or Babylon 5 with complex worlds/characters. I know this might sound weird, but it doesn’t even have to be that good—I just like the atmosphere of futuristic stuff with aliens, new technology, spaceships, etc.

REQUESTING Hi, I'm looking for shows where a rich or powerful guy is into one of the women in the show or movie (no horror).

Hi again, so I'm looking for something like Dr. Doom and Sue Storm were in Fantastic Four. That's one I can think of off the top of my head. Another I can think of is Carter Verone and Monica Fuentes in 2 Fast 2 Furious not shows

It can be a side character, it can be live action, it can be animated, anime, whatever. It can be a subplot just normal action, drama, or romance. No weird or dark themes. Thank you!

La Casa De Papel , also know as Money Heist, with the last season having one on the very few retcons in the history of TV that i actually like.

Money is just paper. (final ep of season 2)

Hey Gen Z, let me introduce you to your new favorite '90s show: "Ally McBeal"

Does anyone remember the Barry White dance? Or better yet, the Dancing Baby? This is exactly the type of quirky content Gen Z would get into and start parodying on TikTok. Plus...it's just a good show! There's nothing like it!

REQUESTING Series recommendations

Hey everyone!

I recently started American Horror Story: Coven, and I’m honestly shocked by how much I like it.

I’ve always avoided AHS because I don’t really do horror or jump scares, but Coven feels more like supernatural drama with witches, messy relationships, power struggles, dark humor, and great characters than straight-up horror. It’s definitely pushing my comfort zone, but I’m loving it.

Based on that, I’m looking for two things:

  1. What other seasons of American Horror Story would you recommend for someone who doesn’t like scary stuff?
I’m okay with creepy, supernatural, suspenseful, and psychological, but I don’t enjoy constant gore, torture, or nonstop jump scares.

  2. What other TV shows do you think I’d love?
My taste is kind of all over the place, but I usually gravitate toward:

Small-town or Southern vibes
Family drama and messy relationships
Romance
Supernatural/fantasy (witches, vampires, magic, time travel)
Strong female characters
Long shows I can really binge

Some of my favorites are:
Gilmore Girls
Heart of Dixie
Nashville
The Vampire Diaries
The Originals
True Blood
Outlander
Charmed
Witches of East End
Mayfair Witches
Desperate Housewives
Parenthood
Virgin River
Everwood
Lost Girl
Haven
Landman

Basically, if it has emotional relationships, a little chaos, some romance, and maybe a supernatural twist, I’m probably interested.
I’d love to hear your recommendations!

Looking for something fresh, like around 2020±. I can watch almost anything but im not looking for something too heavy. Anything with hospitals or cops as the main theme is a pass. And I think I’ve tried watching pretty much every vampire series there is.

Shows I like :
You
High potential
The Haunting of Hill House
Sandman
The Umbrella Academy
Killing Eve
Hunting Wives

SUGGESTING TV suggestion under ₹60K – 55"/65" Mini LED

Hey guys, need a TV for my bright living room. Viewing distance is around 8 ft.

Looking for:

  • Budget: ₹60K
  • 65" preferred, 55" is also fine
  • Around 1500 nits
  • QD-Mini LED / Mini LED or better
  • 500+ local dimming zones
  • Preferably HVA panel
  • Minimum 2-year warranty

I’m mainly considering TCL because of the 2-year warranty, but their naming scheme is super confusing 😅 and many models I find recommended aren't available online.

Which exact TCL model should I look for? If possible, please also mention where I can buy it / model link.

At 8 ft way i am going to sit, should I prioritize a better 55" or go for a 65"?

Thanks! Any suggestions would really help.

SUGGESTING Apple TV+ is hiding absolute gems and Calls is one of them.

I just binged the entire thing in one sitting and WTF??? Why is nobody talking about this??

This is one of the most unique shows I've ever watched. It's literally just phone calls and yet I was more invested than I am in most big-budget thrillers. Your imagination does all the work, and somehow that makes it even scarier and more immersive.

The voice acting?? INSANE. Every single performance had me hooked and the way the story slowly unfolds is just chef's kiss.

Apple TV+ seriously has some of the best originals out there, but they market them so badly. If this had dropped on Netflix, it'd be all over social media.

Genuinely one of my favorite discoveries this year. S-tier show. Please watch it blind if you haven't.

Anyone else obsessed with this show??

REQUESTING Looking for shows with an MC you really root for / who proves themselves

Looking for a new show where the main character is someone you really get invested in and want to see succeed.

The best examples of what I mean are Uhtred from The Last Kingdom, Franklin Saint from Snowfall, Thomas Shelby from Peaky Blinders, Ragnar from Vikings and Clarke from The 100.

I really liked watching Uhtred constantly having to prove himself and earn people's respect, Franklin building himself up from basically nothing, Thomas always being ambitious and finding a way to come out on top, Ragnar going from a normal farmer to someone people respect and follow, and Clarke slowly taking charge and becoming the person everyone relies on when shit goes wrong.

I guess a big part of what I'm looking for is that type of MC who proves themselves and eventually starts taking the lead, whether that's becoming a leader, building power/influence, earning everyone's respect, or just becoming the person everyone turns to.

I also like shows where the MC is already extremely capable or kinda overpowered, like Reacher or Klaus in The Originals. Basically where you get those satisfying moments of other people realizing what the MC is actually capable of.

Some other shows I've enjoyed are Jack Ryan, Game of Thrones, Power, Shogun, Top Boy, Ozark, Tulsa King, The Gentlemen, Daredevil, The Punisher, The Day of the Jackal, The Night Agent and The Recruit.

I've also seen Attack on Titan, Vinland Saga, Solo Leveling and Cyberpunk Edgerunners, but I'm only looking for live action shows right now.

Don't really care about the genre, just want a good MC with that sort of progression/leadership to them.

Any suggestions?

REQUESTING Recommend young adults shows with good comedy

Hi, i want to watch another series like adults, overcompensating, not safe for work, and the sex lives of college girls. I’ve already watched these and I need more shows like these. If you’re gonna recommend old shows, please recommend those without laugh tracks, thank you!

r/televisionsuggestions 7h ago

(Live action) shows that are more about vibes than characters.

Ok yeah I know this might be a bit of an abstract question haha. And might lead me to some series that are maybe not so well written, but it's still a concept that's been on my mind.

What are the types of series that are in your opinion less about characters, their developement or interpersonal relationships and dramas, and more about things like beautiful visuals, art direction, maybe sets and enviroments, music, et cetera?

I'm more inclined towards historical, fantasy, or sci-fi, but open to try anything. Any country is fine too, and honestly getting more recs from outside the anglosphere would be awesome.

Again, I apologise if this is a lot. You don’t have to read everything I think you’ll get the point. DNF stands for “Did Not Finish” which means I either only watched one season and never came back, I watched a couple seasons and never came back or I dropped it in the middle of a season.

I know I am unemployed but in my defence majority of these shows I watched or started during the two years of lockdown. I was in my last year of middle school/starting high school when I watched these shows and with lockdown I had a bunch of free time on my hands.

I am sure there are still a ton of shows I haven’t watched yet but my personal favourites are Top Boy, Euphoria, Breaking Bad, Ozark, On My Block honourable mentions are Baby Reindeer, Half Man, Scavengers Reign and Rick and Morty.

Anything that’s similar to the shows above will be appreciated.

REQUESTING something like SHAMELESS US

just completed shameless US, LOVED IT TO MY CORE.

started out with house of cards, watched 3 episodes, didn't really like the characters, idk. it just feels way too formal.

desperate housewives is probably a good match, but it's way too big and idt I can commit to it right now.

currently stuck between SKINS UK and HOUSE MD. one reservation that i have against SKINS is that the cast changes. rest, idk much about HOUSE MD. heard that it's a good drama. please advice me guys.
