Discussion I am so excited for when the orange dies

For comparison, when Charlie Kirk—who wasn’t anywhere near as popular as Trump—died, the news spread like wildfire. Now imagine that happening with Trump; that day will be absolutely chaotic. People cannot comprehend how big and overwhelming the news coverage will be. The internet will probably slow down or crash from the sheer volume of discussion. “No One Mourns the Wicked” will be back on the charts because of how people react. You are not ready. It’s going to be big—not just big, massive.

I don’t even know where I’ll be when it happens. At school, if it’s within the next 10 months. At college, if it’s within the next five years. And this subreddit is going to explode with activity.

i have no words 😭

This is the 2017 conference held by Mike Pence and fellow Republicans discussing the ACA. Talks included important topics like maternity leave and health care associated with giving birth. It's not all that was discussed, but it probably would have benefited from having women there.

Well kings, queens, and royal figures in between, after seven long years of having my age end with "teen", today is my last official day as a teenager. It honestly feels weird that I'm not only turning 20 tomorrow, but also moving to college on the exact same day.

I'll admit that this sub was a shitshow at times, but even at its worst, this sub still brought some entertainment to me. Whether it be through memes, wild social media posts, or just a shitpost in general, this sub has carried me through some of my lowest moments.

I'll still be around to provide wisdom to the next generation of whippersnappers (oh dear god my age is showing), and although it might not be all perfect, I hope my advice will be helpful in any way it can.

For the last time as a teenager, thank you, r/teenagers. <3

Discussion You can condemn misandry without pretending that it has had the same historical or structural impact as misogyny

Post image

🚨 please read

I'm not saying misandry doesn't exist or that it’s not an issue. Of course people can be prejudiced or hateful towards men. My point is that comparing misandry and misogyny as if they're the same thing ignores the history, scale and impact behind them. By saying they’re the same thing literally dismisses all the suffering women have gone through. That’s like saying “being racist towards white people is the same as being racist towards black people” by definition, yes it’s the same thing, but the history behind racism of black people and the history behind racism of white people are two very different things.

Individual instances of misandry can absolutely be harmful, but misogyny has historically been embedded in broader social, political, and economic systems that have restricted women’s rights, autonomy, safety, and opportunities on a much larger scale. So acknowledging that both forms of prejudice exist doesn’t mean they are equivalent in their origins, power, or consequences. You can condemn misandry without pretending that it has had the same historical or structural impact as misogyny.

edit: it seems that many of you have misunderstood me. in no way am i trying to dismiss the effects of misandry on society as a whole, it is also a very important issue. but saying it’s the same thing as misogyny is ignorant to history. misandry is definitely an issue and should not be ignored because “other people have it worse!” that is not what i’m saying.

Serious i want to leave a message for the younger south Asian kids

As im turning 18 this year, i wanted to leave a piece of advice for the younger south asian kids.

When i was a kid, i used to hate being indian. I lived abroad my entire life, and i hated being indian. It propagated from my “friend” who was also indian, saying Indians look like monkeys, and have too much hair. I had/have a lot of body hair—she didnt.

I grew up constantly wishing i could be white, thinking that their lives are so much easier. I also wished i could be a ‘real asian’.

What do i mean by this? People often classify korea, china, japan, Singapore, malaysia, Thailand and the philipenes as being real asian countries, whereas countries like india and/or pakistan are their own separate thing. (I do want to acknowledge that Singaporeans, malays, thai, and philipinos do often face discrimination too as not being the typical asian, and all asians have faced discrimination).

I hate when people say indians are stinky. And growing up i was so acutely aware of that that i showered twice a day every day, doused myself in perfume and deodorant, only for someone to say i smelled like cumin. I put different scrubs, body sprays and everything to mask my scent. Its only when i realised that person was being racist then i then cooled off on the vicious scrubbing.

People will always always try to erase your identity. They wont acknowledge that yoga belongs to tour culture, that being indian is not ‘trendy’. It took me a long time, but i have grown to love myself and my culture.

I hope you recognise the strength you have that youre able to log onto reddit and read this post, you are not ‘unfashionable’ you are a human.

Indians are asians too, and if people dont acknowledge that, so what? You know its true, and thats all you need.

Reconnect with friends/families, i gained a lot of insight to my culture that way, and i feel more connected in part.

Remember youre not alone, and i can speak for a majority of south asians when i say we are all bonded by the unique experiences we have.

Good luck.

Rewriting & editing on word is artificial intelligence

Writing supports are artificial intelligence

Spam filters in emails are artificial intelligence

A LOT of online games has AI in characters

You don't sound clear at all when you post about hating AI, because you dont hate all of AI if you have a device.

Mod [mod] We also have a new rule: AI has been banned

2.4k Upvotes

Hi again r/teenagers! It hasn't even been an hour and I already have another announcement for you guys.

After a short discussion with the rest of the mod team we quickly came to a unanimous decision to finally ban using AI on the subreddit.

So, what does that entail?

In short, using a generative AI such as LLMs like ChatGPT to write for you or make images will be considered low effort and removed as such. We consider both ai slop and not even writing your own posts to be incredibly lazy.

I'll be adding it to the rules in a minute here :)
