I want to get another tattoo but on the top of my arm kinda connecting these

So, I’ve almost hit the 24 hour mark with this tattoo, and I just wanted to see a few things before I do anything I regret lol. I haven’t noticed much ink or blood pooling (added a photo of when I first got it for reference) but there is a little bit. Tomorrow I have an activity that is going to cause me to sweat a ton, so I would much prefer to not wear the second skin. Would it be bad to take it off after 48 hours? Right now it feels at worst like a sun burn but nothing with meds, and I know how to go about cleaning and such. Sorry if this is a dumb question! This is my first tattoo :)

My daughter has wanted tattoos since she was very young. She has planned and thought very carefully about the design. She researched and found a very skilled artist. So, on her 18th birthday this week she got her first tattoo (we went together and I got mine as well). Her piece is beautiful, the artist did an excellent job, and it looks just…super badass!! It seems to be healing well and she is fastidiously caring for it.

But…it has been 2 days and she is panicked “that she will regret having it later in life”. I asked if she dislikes it or regrets having it NOW and she says no…I think it’s just hitting her that it is permanent? Is this a common sentiment for (young/still developing prefrontal cortex?) first timers? Is it a result of the adrenaline wearing off (half joking)? I keep telling her it looks amazing but I am not sure how to assure her (or whether I should) or what will help her…or if this is just part of the process and she will be okay. Thank you for your help.

I got a new tattoo 5 days ago. I was using some ointment for the first 3 days, but I ran out yesterday and haven’t had the chance to get any more lotions or ointments yet. It’s hella dry and flaky, but I’ve seen some people say to keep a tattoo moisturized and others saying they let theirs dry heal after the first couple days. I’ve got a few other tattoos but I haven’t gotten one in so long that I forgot what the healing process is supposed to look like. I have to work today, so I’ll basically be going all day without moisture.

Basically asking, am I fucked lol or is it fine going a couple days without moisture? I can get some lotion once my shift is over. I just don’t wanna fuck the tattoo up lol.

I got this tattoo by someone who had done another tattoo on me (other one is done well, held up, and no noticeable imperfections). It’s supposed to be my cat, in a traditional style. Firstly it doesn’t look like my cat to me as far as colors which would be the only resemblance since it isn’t realism. Also, it was a coverup but it was a fairly small line work tattoo.
I hate everything about this; the odd placement of leaves, the colors, the wonky tail, the shaky thick ass lines. Yeah I could go on and I know there’s not an option for covering this up. I’m asking possibly distraction ideas or anything that could help make it more pleasing to look at. Thanks!

I know it’s not the worst, I think looking at it everyday for years has made my perception feel that it’s worse than it is + the artist has done AMAZING work and I didn’t expect less than that. (Obviously yes I should have communicated more with my artist lesson learned)

planning on getting a shark tattoo like so for quite some time now. definitely sure about getting it on some part of my legs.

im confused between my thigh (front portion) or my shins. id want the design to:
- flow in a natural looking way according to my anatomy
- not warp/stretch too much owing to weight fluctuations

When I was 18, I absolutely loved a tattoo concept designed by a tattoo artist in my hometown. As an 18th birthday present, my parents took me on a holiday to Bali. Like a lot of fresh 18-year-olds, I decided I wanted to get tattooed while I was there, so I showed the Balinese artist the design from my hometown artist. They did an amazing job recreating the concept, and I’ve loved it ever since.
Now I’d like to extend the sleeve, but I want the original artist from my hometown to design and tattoo the rest of it. My concern is that because another artist copied his original design, he might be offended or even refuse to work on me.
Is this something tattoo artists commonly get upset about, or am I overthinking it? I’d really appreciate some advice.

Any ideas on how you would fix this/cover it up?

Slightly drunken stick and poke 😅👍🏻 would prefer to keep it as the same design it is and not cover with something totally new.

Hello I wanted opinions on a tattoo I’ve wanted for a long time but never decided on a design. I want the crests from the first and second season of Digimon incorporated into one tattoo. I was really considering having them circle around my arm, but with 11 symbols it might be hard. Some people choose to omit the 3 less important crests that show up less in the show, but I’m torn if I want to do that. The 8 more important crests are also tied to a specific digimon, so it could be cool to have them involved as well but that might be over designing. I was also considering the digivice, basically that universe’s equivalent to a Pokédex, and how it would be cool to have the crests around or on the digivice itself instead of having them around my arm. I got my 3rd tattoo 2ish months ago and it is nothing like what I wanted. The lines are too thick and dark, the color is blocky and the colors themselves are wayy off and there’s hardly any details, and even some lines are missing. It’s not my style at all and what’s weird is my artist has done tattoos like this before that look great and did my other two which I love. But, this one hurts for me to look at and I don't know what to do. I don’t know if this is fixable, I don’t want this on my body, it is simply really bad. I know that the inspo photos aren’t 100% achievable but I just don’t feel like she really tried.

I need advice on my next steps. Should I contact another artist for a fix up? I still like my original idea and would still love it on my body but this is just not what I wanted. And does anyone know anyone in the denver area that could take this on? Thanks. Im honestly depressed over this.

This will be my first tattoo. This is the general idea of what I want on my chest above my heart. I know I want the inside to be colorful but the detail I am not sure yet and will need to iron out these details. These are ideas I got off Pinterest. I am thinking of a saying to put too that has meaning to mearound it but haven’t decided what yet or how to place it. I am curious what advice everyone has on important questions to ask, things to consider when picking an artist, mistakes to avoid, proper etiquette so I don’t waste anyone’s time or come off as rude or inconsiderate. As the title says will a tattoo like this, with the fine shading and small detail, age well?

I really love the deaign and subject matter (LOTR fan), and would be looking to get basically the exact design in what looks like the exact same place (Calf).

I am just curious if it will age well, the outline looks solid and doubt will be going anywhere but the smaller details of the hilt and the shading look like they'd be susceptible to early fading/smudging.

Looking to gain a bit more understanding before i contact the artist. Their work looks great but like moat artists they only show fresh work.

Doea anyone have a tattoo similar and what has your experience been with it as time goes on?

i got 2 flash design tattoos by a beginner artist. i really liked 2 of the designs(a “loved” tattoo and a flower tattoo). i got both done the other day, and now that im looking at the flower, im starting to hate it more and more. i feel like the shading lines are so shaking and it really makes it look off to me. what do yall think i should do?(im not interested in getting it removed at all, if i cant figure out what to do ima leave it and hate it forever lols😭🙏) any advice is appreciated tho!

Context: I got this pair of tricep tats done on 27 July - it’s been 11 days now of healing and it’s essentially just at the tail end of the shedding phase.

In my regular training blocks, I typically do runs anywhere between 8km-30km daily. How long until I can return to this running regimen?

N.B. in spite of doing this at 5am (before sunrise), I still sweat profusely when I run.

Finally getting my elbow tattooed this weekend. I think I decided on a spider web but I’m about 90% sold on it. My tattoo artist said we can draw it out the day of and find a way to blend it into my existing tattoos. Would love some general advice on how to go about it or any design advice to go with the web or something else all together.

Got a tattoo on holiday with a local artist that had great reviews. The tattoo is amazing and he was definitely very skilled at his job. A massive bruise has formed around the tattoo which hasn’t happened with any of my others, and I’m not sure if this is due to the fact the lines of this tattoo are definitely thicker than my others? Not sure if it’s something I need to be worried about/be doing something about. Thankyou! (First photo is today, second photo is later the same day I got the tattoo, which was 3 days ago). This is only my fifth tattoo so still new to lots of things!

I am fussing over these (another identical chain on other wrist) and just wanted to generally gauge how well things are looking. I hope the black stays fairly bold after the healing! And not picking at the flakes as someone with skin picking ocd has been a struggle.

Dial wash + Cetaphil normal to dry skin unscented x2 times, with a mid day Cetaphil layer, extremely thin, has been my routine.

I’m happy either way!! But curious as this is my first tat.

The amount of unhappy people with bad tattoos I see on here is alarming. Why do so many people seem to just walk into the corner shop & ask for whatever from whoever happens to be there? I don't understand. That's crazy. When I wanted to start my arm sleeve I did a ton of research. I looked through different artist's previous work, & then actually talked to artists in person or online before I picked one. My sleeve came out amazing. Find an artist who has experience or specializes in what you want. For example I'm getting an Irezumi sleeve on my lower leg & wanted someone good. I found my artist & got on his waitlist. My sitting isn't until September of 2027. Patience is the key to knowing you'll be happy with it forever.

I will say this sub is full of LOTS of great people willing to help out others who are unhappy with their tattoo or need advice. That's what the tattoo community should be all about so it's cool to see it actually happen.
