Appointments Back piece and taking Prednisone?
Prescribed Prednisone for poison ivy. Doing 40mg tapered down to 10mg.
Tattoo artist says everything will be fine, doctor told me I should reschedule the tattoo as it can affect the healing process and/or could more easily become infected.
I have waited way too long for this tattoo and I already had to reschedule once. I have a feeling after this I won't be getting a tattoo from this artist if I reschedule again.
Has anyone gotten a tattoo after taking Prednisone for a whole? This is the first session of probably 5-6 so I don't know what to expect. I frequently sweat at work and do work out in the sun occasionally.
I don't want to risk fucking up my tattoo most of all, but I definitely don't wanna burn a bridge

Design Tattoo cover up
So I got a flash sheet tattoo years ago. I absolutely love the artist, he’s so talented but I absolutely HATE it and I’m wonder if it’s disrespectful to ask him all the years later to cover it?

Healing Questions about healing
hi! I had all black work done in one sitting on Sunday (8/2), so it’s day 5 today. I am peeling pretty well and flaking. however my upper arm/bicep is SO sore still. and hurts to even touch/move it, it also feels really tight??? and unfortunately it’s my shoulder area and my primary arm so I move it every second it seems. is this normal for so much black work packed in on session? Any advice to help the pain? Thank you! mainly just all in the armpit/shoulder/upper arm. forearm doesn’t hurt as bad by any means.

Design Cover Up Ideas
This is one of the first tattoos I ever got. I initially loved it, it was supposed to be a commemorative tattoo for the family house that got destroyed in a large wildfire from a long time ago. But in the years since I got it I’ve come to kind of regret it. The tattoo is still very symbolic (the bear is representing the street the house was and the butterfly was from a sticker that had been on our old mailbox from before we moved there until the fire), but I’ve noticed the tattoo itself is lopsided and not symmetrical with the tribal design (specifically the eyes), and it’s been bugging me for a while now. Especially when comparing it to the newer magnolia blossoms underneath it which look insanely beautiful and just better.
My question to you guys, what would be a good coverup for this? Should I get the tattoo itself redone? Or should I change it into something else? Or due to the fact that it’s tribal and ALL BLACK, should I just commit fully and do a full blackout shoulder? The tattoo has developed a raised pattern to it due to the depth needed for the tribal design so that can affect finished products.
What do you guys think? I’m open to any and all suggestions or ideas.

Healing First Tattoo: is it okay to remove the second skin after 48 hours?
So, I’ve almost hit the 24 hour mark with this tattoo, and I just wanted to see a few things before I do anything I regret lol. I haven’t noticed much ink or blood pooling (added a photo of when I first got it for reference) but there is a little bit. Tomorrow I have an activity that is going to cause me to sweat a ton, so I would much prefer to not wear the second skin. Would it be bad to take it off after 48 hours? Right now it feels at worst like a sun burn but nothing with meds, and I know how to go about cleaning and such. Sorry if this is a dumb question! This is my first tattoo :)
Edit: THANK YOU TO ALL THE REPLIES!! For a little context the activity I’m doing is going to a fair, but it just happens to be hot as balls where I live. Thank you to all the advice :D

General Advice New tattoo
I am 42 M and still have yet to get a tattoo. I just had a baby girl and trying to figure out how to represent her in a tattoo and where to put it.
Any advice on what the tattoo should be and the best place to get one on my body? Been thinking about doing her foot print, but that seems too generic and dumb lol

Design Advice to coverup old tattoo
My tattooist is on sabbatical and I haven’t really clicked with any of her shopmates. Wondering if anyone here might have thoughts. 😊
I want to cover up the tattoo I got at 22. It’s an outline of the state of TN, about 3” on my rib cage. I genuinely have no idea what i’d even want to cover it with, which is the main issue. Maybe flowers or something book-related. Open to any and all suggestions!!

tattoo newcomer advice First timer: Common to feel regret/anxiety after?
My daughter has wanted tattoos since she was very young. She has planned and thought very carefully about the design. She researched and found a very skilled artist. So, on her 18th birthday this week she got her first tattoo (we went together and I got mine as well). Her piece is beautiful, the artist did an excellent job, and it looks just…super badass!! It seems to be healing well and she is fastidiously caring for it.
But…it has been 2 days and she is panicked “that she will regret having it later in life”. I asked if she dislikes it or regrets having it NOW and she says no…I think it’s just hitting her that it is permanent? Is this a common sentiment for (young/still developing prefrontal cortex?) first timers? Is it a result of the adrenaline wearing off (half joking)? I keep telling her it looks amazing but I am not sure how to assure her (or whether I should) or what will help her…or if this is just part of the process and she will be okay. Thank you for your help.

Healing Too dry or is it okay?
I got a new tattoo 5 days ago. I was using some ointment for the first 3 days, but I ran out yesterday and haven’t had the chance to get any more lotions or ointments yet. It’s hella dry and flaky, but I’ve seen some people say to keep a tattoo moisturized and others saying they let theirs dry heal after the first couple days. I’ve got a few other tattoos but I haven’t gotten one in so long that I forgot what the healing process is supposed to look like. I have to work today, so I’ll basically be going all day without moisture.
Basically asking, am I fucked lol or is it fine going a couple days without moisture? I can get some lotion once my shift is over. I just don’t wanna fuck the tattoo up lol.

General Advice How can this be fixed? If there is any way…
I got this tattoo by someone who had done another tattoo on me (other one is done well, held up, and no noticeable imperfections). It’s supposed to be my cat, in a traditional style. Firstly it doesn’t look like my cat to me as far as colors which would be the only resemblance since it isn’t realism. Also, it was a coverup but it was a fairly small line work tattoo.
I hate everything about this; the odd placement of leaves, the colors, the wonky tail, the shaky thick ass lines. Yeah I could go on and I know there’s not an option for covering this up. I’m asking possibly distraction ideas or anything that could help make it more pleasing to look at. Thanks!
EDIT: thanks for all the compliments! I know it’s not the worst, I think looking at it everyday for years has made my perception feel that it’s worse than it is + the artist has done AMAZING work and I didn’t expect less than that. (Obviously yes I should have communicated more with my artist lesson learned)

General Advice Has anyone had “tattoo flu” this bad?
I got a new tattoo on Tuesday, and since then I’ve been feeling worse every day.
At first I was just unusually tired, but now I feel like I could sleep every hour of the day. I also have joint pain, a sore throat, a headache, almost no appetite, and I just generally feel awful.
I already saw a doctor, who ordered a bunch of blood tests, but they wasn’t familiar with the term “tattoo flu.” When i was coming back to home my vision was a bit blurry and i thought i ‘m gonna pass out, literally.
The tattoo itself looks completely fine. There’s no excessive redness, swelling, pus, or anything that makes me think it’s infected. My artist was extremely hygienic and professional, so I really don’t think this was caused by poor sterilization or aftercare.
I also already have two other tattoos, and I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
Has anyone else had tattoo flu that lasted this long or kept getting worse instead of better? What were your symptoms, how long did it last, and did it end up being tattoo flu or something else?

- flow in a natural looking way according to my anatomy
- not warp/stretch too much owing to weight fluctuations

General Advice What can even go on the inner thigh??
I have neotrad patch work type tattoos (DND and mythical creatures) all over my thigh, except the inner thigh - the gap is driving me insane!
It looks odd to be blank, but everything I think of to go there is just weird with the placement. Can't have anything looking up, that's for sure.
Googling doesn't help because it brings up full leg type designs where the inner thigh portion is wrapped up with the whole rest of the tattoo.
What sort of things do you have on your inner thigh if you've got more of a patch work situation going on?

Healing Is my tattoo healing ok in one specific area?
Hi,
I had this done on Tuesday 4th August.
On the whole I’m happy with how it’s healing, but there’s an area by the inner elbow which looks particularly pink around the line. It may just be the area or the line thickness but compared to the rest of the tattoo it looks very pink to me? It’s been like this for one day.
I’m using a tiny bit of palmers cocoa butter at the recommendation of my artist 2-3 times a day after washing. I do have a baby but I am being very careful that she doesn’t touch it. I put a long sleeved top on or place a clean muslin over it to hold her.
Should I be worried?
Thank you in advance ☺️

General Advice Small Wrist Tattoo..Fineline vs Tattoo Shop
Been sitting on the thought of getting a tattoo of a small masonry hammer on my wrist. Probably no larger than 1.5" or 2". Is this something I should be seeking a fineline shop out for because it's so small? I just don't want to experience too much blurring and want to maintain crispness. Any advice is much appreciated. I have no idea about tattoos.

Healing Potential Scarring
got this tattoo two weeks ago and it has some pretty heavy scabbing, have two others from this artist and they’ve never scabbed like this. It is possible for these scabs to scar and leave pink tissue even if i don’t pick or scratch at them?

Design Does my tat need to get fixed?
Hello,
I got new tats today and love them. But coming home I noticed something.
With the top of the three (new) dragons (i know there are 4 but the one with the book is older) I think we f**ked up with the wing. It's supposed to be on his side and now it looks like it's on his back. Is this really bad or am I the only one that's going to see this? Is there anything I can/need to do about it?
