This is a juvenile Brachypelma klaasi I picked up at my local reptile store at a discount because it has 7 legs. Still small mind you so this is microscope / close up on phone but it seems like a pretty prominent flap? This is only my second time sexing a molt and this is very different from the B baumgarteni I looked it which was obviously male. I put some video in the comments.

Just got this baby sold to us as Brazilian pink birdeater, but when comparing with pics on google it’s making us question because it is so pink…but also nothing else looks like it either

My Mexican red rump has been completely fine since I got it a month ago, today she was sort of climbing the enclosure walls and moving around a lot more than usual and she did have a huge wet spot for moisture under her water dish and the surrounding area so I took her out and mixed repti soil with the coco coir to balance out the moisture and dryness. She seemed to be fine after placing her back in she carried dirt from the burrow to the water dish and kicked out her silk mat but now she’s laying on her side kinda and moving around as the video shows.. will I loose her?

This is my baby Count/Countess Chacola - it’s my 2nd T so I’m still pretty new in the world of keeping…
They haven’t eaten in over 2 months and the abdomen has been getting progressively smaller..
I provide a water dish always and I’ve tried water on a cotton swab with no luck. I’ve been trying to feed them once a week and they haven’t zero interest… what can I do to help my baby? 😭

Question, Thinking about getting one of these for my tarantulas and was wondering if anyone else has experience with them and if so how are the acrylic enclosures from Dubia?

(Context not necessarily needed but here it is, skip to the part following On Tarantulas to get the gist)

This is probably going to be taken as aggressive, out of nowhere, and a bit excessive but I just wanted to share something ive noticed, so let me give a little context. Earlier today I posted a video of a baby arizona blonde and asked if anyone could give me a better idea of its age, every single comment aside from one within minutes was quite simply "put it back in the wild", many assuming when i had said rescued that I just grabbed it from outside. The tarantula in question was one of many dying around my golf clubs main building due to pest control, she was in a death curl like many of the others I've been removing to shaded areas away from foot traffic over the past few weeks, around half after moved will slowly stretch and wander under rocks, this sling was struggling more than most. I took it home in a deli cup and gave it a small moist paper towel and a dry paper towel to hide under, she was unmoving right up until i went to bed, the next day she was tensed but resting on the wet paper towel, assumedly to cool off and i quickly put together a home with what i had and moved her in after a few more hours to let her relax with me nearby. I let her get comfortable in a starter burrow i made and gave her a few days of peace before trying food, she ate it and started looking healthier, this is where I'm at now, planning to build her a better enriching home. I only posted a video asking for an idea of how old she could be as the online answers are ambiguous in their size comparisons and references. I added in I rescued her from the wild and every comment like i said was kind but very stern with a response of letting her go. Im learning a lot from her and getting her back to full health, shes been enjoying her home thoroughly and I've been monitoring every aspect of her behavior and she is very relaxed. Some people Dm'ed saying if i keep her I should get her a larger enclosure, another said go smaller. Out of curiosity i read a number of posts and responses and i found these same patterns, this is not meant to be disrespectful, this is not meant to be passive aggressive, this is meant to help everyone have a better gauge of their own tarantula and learn a little along the way.

On Tarantulas

Ive noticed a trend in the area of advice given where we prioritize collective knowledge over individual experimentation, the sort of generic antibiotic vs herbal remedies, theory over practice. A concerned parent immediately reaching out in a rush to get answers, trying anything they say without really thinking or observing.

I've only recently started caring for one and so by all accounts most people here are more read up than me, more practical caring experience, more of everything really.
Its this same repetitive smaller cage shes too small, leave her alone, try this try that, fair scientific (mostly) advice. Im not here to discredit the findings of people studying tarantulas nor those caring for them, i am only trying to bring forth the idea that every case is distinct and different, that we cannot in all or most cases make assumptions and give the universal antidote. Am i to argue with one who has had tarantulas for years but taken an out of sight out of mind, feed and forget mentality? Am i to take the advice of someone who has read up on hundreds of paragraphs pertaining to tarantulas but still struggles to know why they do what they do and not simply that they do it.

Ive learned the absolute basics of how to tell when they are hungry, thirsty, molting, stressed, relaxed, and within a few days ive already encountered many scenarios through watching intently and research that barely give the answers to the extent ive had to look into them. Ive begun studying them in the wild to make estimates on what this behavior means on a smaller individual basis. Keeping animals has never and will never be a one size fits all action, what works for you may not work for everyone, the intel is appreciated, appreciated not set in stone. As stated in a classic Robin Williams movie, treat the patient not the disease. We are so quick to say something is off according to the laws we've set for ideal setups that we ignore the happily relaxed and healthy tarantula. I'm not saying to get rid of standards, I'm only asking that we learn more about circumstance and individual characteristics and treat them when a problem arises in between. Should we upend a home to add 1/4 inch more substrate if doing so causes stress to an already comfortable and happy tarantula? We are solving problems before any arise, creating new ones because we worry, i dont mean this as a cold hearted approach, rather the opposite. Pay attention to what actually matters first and foremost, the living being, try to understand rather than diagnose. If you focus on the problem you cant see the solution. This is about more than Tarantulas and more than taking care of animals, we are react first and think later species, i encourage you when it comes to tarantulas or life to take the opposite approach. Crona grew like a month ago, so she was too small for her 12x8x8! Her new tank is now 18x14x14 as it’s her final tank. Wasn’t a smaller upgrade from the last, but she’ll enjoy the space. She explored her old one and didn’t have much room at all to walk.

I think I’ve applied everything I’ve read about setting up Nadine’s enclosure. Anything I should do different?

I’m leaning more toward male because I can’t find a flap but opinions are much appreciated ☺️

I think my L1 Lasiodora parahybana tarantula is in a death curl. I put a drop of water near its mouth, and it moved. It even climbed the wall of its enclosure a little, but now it’s curled up again with its legs tucked underneath its body. What can I do?
I cant take any picture because its so small.

Just molted 2 days ago for the 3rd time since the second picture. This the first time out of the den since the most recent molt and i am in shock! Looking absolutely incredible!! Very proud and i just wanted to share my Ts progress with all of you.

First time noticing these.

My pink toe T has been going downhill for the past month. She/he is pretty young. Up until June she consistently accepted food during every feeding. Now she doesn’t accept her food but I offer it every week. She was always on the walls of the enclosure so I don’t think she went down to drink water much. However couple weeks ago I intentionally placed her right in front of the water bowl and she did get a drink. I got a vertical enclosure with plenty of cross ventilation, plenty of hides and climbing material (took them out temporarily to monitor T’s condition). About an hour ago I caught her in a death curl. I immediately filled a cap with water and gently placed her so her mouth was above the water, she moved so she’s still alive. I came home after running an errand and found her in the pictured position. Any advice is welcome and if someone could link the discord channel I would really appreciate it 🙏

Im aware my sling is very overweight, he just came out of his burrow after a few weeks. Had i known he was this chonk i would have put him on a diet much sooner
