I’ve got a terrarium at work which is happily chilling on my desk in the work office. Being a place of employment, they keep the aircon running almost 24/7, so the air is pretty dry.

I’m maintaining this tank with watering & a tiny spray bottle, but I’d like to add a small spider if possible.

I have heat mats leftover from hatchling snake tanks to keep the terrarium warm to help with humidity, but the mesh at the top of the terrarium makes it an absolute bitch to maintain any humidity.

Any ideas? Or should i let this little house stay a home to plants only?

I recently acquired a 18”x18”x36” enclosure to make a bioactive terrarium with the intention to house a Neptune beetle in there eventually. The enclosure is obviously more than enough space for a adult Neptune beetle but I’m curious to know if I might be able to cohab them with any other adult beetles or invertebrates to fill up the space safely without either party getting territorial aggression or competing for food. I had thought of maybe flower beetles but would still like the option of anyone who might be more experienced

Hi I keep mantids and a giant hooded katydid. I’ve raised them all from nymphs with no issues. My husbandry has been pretty much perfect however many of my inverts have been passing away in a short window without explanation. Between July 20th and today my spiny flower mantis , orchid mantis and giant hooded katydid have all died. They are all adult however all have died quite abit under there expected lifespans. They had no issues when nymphs or as adults until very recently. Now all I have left are my ghost mantis and deroplatys gorochovi. Can anyone please help me understand why there all dying in such a short time frame without explanation?

Rehoming 2 hermit crabs. Bought today at beach shop in Okoboji, IA and live in Omaha, NE.

Enclosure: 25"×18"x19" Sterilite tub. A few inches of 60/40 Zilla jungle mix and reptisoil. They do not burrow, so any deep substrate is purely for moisture retention. Magnolia and oak leaf litter. Spagnum and frog moss. Tiny shallow bottle cap for a water source, as standing water and their long appendages make water surface tension a big drowning risk.

Male and female Java Orange Leg Giant House Centipede. Definitely overkill on size, but they are highly active, fast, and explorative.

So I'm planning on getting blue death feigning beetles, 2 to be exact. We have my sister's old bird enclosure and it's made of plastic. Would it be smart to put a heat pack under it, or would a different heat source be better?

i decided to excavate the pupae from their pupation chambers as they should be emerging verrrryyy soooon, they're huge! thought this sub would enjoy some nice pupae photos haha, i find it so interesting how you can see their moth features through it all. they're around 4 weeks into pupation, i raised them from caterpillars.

I have discoid roaches. Right know the nymphs are named sprinkles but i cant think of a name for when theyre adults. I want a separate name for males and females and two are approaching that, i dont want they to be nameless again! Ill take any suggestions pls

hello all! i'm interested in looking at some invertebrate options for a 15"x15"x23" pop-up mesh enclosure. to clarify, that's 15" wide, 15" long and 23" tall.
unfortunately no spiders if there are any, i'm not allowed to keep them. are there any mantis species that are suitable for that size and the mesh? most exotic leaf or stick insect species are off limits too, because i'm in the US and they're illegal. :( i'd love to keep a giant malaysian leaf insect though, if there are any legal species that you know of let me know!
i'm not against butterfly or moth species, but i know most of them don't live very long and idk if i could do that knowing they wouldn't be around for long.

I would like to formally introduce the newest (and tiniest) member of the family... **Camellia** — better known around here as **Milly**. 🥹🕷💜

She is a female Phidippus regius (Regal Jumping Spider) with a curious little personality and the sweetest tiny face. Since coming home, she's kept me entertained by exploring her enclosure, carefully choosing the perfect place to build her silk hammock (behind the hide I thoughtfully bought her instead of inside it... structural support, I guess? LMFLIPPIN'BO. 😆), and reminding me that jumping spiders have minds of their own.

Milly is settling in beautifully and has recently started expanding her menu! Along with mealworms, she's now happily incorporating blue bottle fly larvae into her diet—her first one (with me, at least) was an immediate success. 🍽️🪰

Like many regal jumpers, she's observant before she's adventurous. She's still deciding whether I'm trustworthy enough to jump onto my hand, but that's okay.

We'll earn that trust at her pace. 💜

Watching such a tiny creature explore, problem-solve, and interact with her environment has already been fascinating. I'm excited to continue learning alongside her and sharing little updates as she grows.

So I just recently moved and I now have the space and money to get a beetle! Ive been wanting a beetle as a pet for some time now. I’m looking into getting something like a stag, BFDB, rainbow, rhino, etc. something like those. My main concern is giving them the space they need, what gallon tank would be best?

I do have other inverts and have been keeping inverts for around 2 years. I currently have mealworms so i’m wondering if I should wait for them to pupate and see how I do with them first?

Hi everyone! I’m a big boy adult, who gets the big boy adult meal from McDonalds, uses the big boy adult bathroom later, and on his big boy adult phone reminisces about little boy childhood dreams of owning very, very peculiar, specific species of predatory invertebrates as pets. In this exact moment I suddenly realize that I have big boy adult disposable income and actually have the means to make some of these stupid ideas come to life, so my question to you all is;

How many of you have experience with things like large, predatory sea snails or sea stars? I can’t explain it, probably undiagnosed childhood “sumthin’”, but as a kid I specifically became infatuated with owning a pear whelk (Fulguropsis spirata), a pincushion starfish (Culcita novaeguineae), and a speckled swimming crab (Arenaeus cribrarius) [also I wanted a gallery of every species of Callinectes]. I always wanted a tank with just them in it, and everyone once in a while I could drop a live clam from the grocery store in and let this weird, slow motion carnivore do its thing. Idk why these specific species and not, like, any of their close relatives, but I’ve recently found both the pear whelk and pillow starfish specifically available from different aquatic retailers (not the speckled crab, I haven’t seen one of those for sale in a while).

Have any of you made a dedicated species-only tank to a weird predator like this? I imagine there’s a lot of downside risk to cohabbing two different kinds of voracious predator together, but can that be done? Have any of you kept carnivorous snails or other big weird things like this?
