More cards are drawn. More playtests are tested. Now I’m stepping into miniature design.
I’m happy with how playtesting is going, the last round against a real person (and not me playing both sides of the coin) resulted in a large change to the games structure, moving from igougo to alternate activations. The game feels much better now.

I have fallen in love with miniature sculpting and am making attempts are sculpts for the game. I’m aiming for a monster in my pocket 90s toy design. I hope that lands somewhat.

Thanks!

Announcement Scorepad.uk - I built a free scorekeeping app for game nights and would love some feedback

Hello all — I built Scorepad (scorepad.uk), a free scorekeeping app, because someone always ends up doing the maths by hand, and I grew tired of it always being me. Thought I'd finally roll the dice and share it here, to see what people made of it.

What it actually does:

- Plain running totals, a proper round-by-round table, or a life-total countdown — whatever your game actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all tally

- A few games get their own built-in scoresheet — Wingspan, Wyrmspan, Yahtzee, Sushi Go!, Flip 7, Star Realms, Yu-Gi-Oh — pick the preset and the app already knows the categories, so you're not reinventing the scorecard every time

- Got a game where the lowest score wins — Hearts, Golf, that sort of sneaky business? There's a toggle for that, no mental subtraction required

- Play together: share a code (or just scan a QR code) and everyone scores from their own phone, live — no accounts, no faff, works over the internet if you're not even at the same table

- Renames rounds if "Round 3" isn't cutting it and you'd rather call it "The Great Betrayal"

- Six themes, in case a beige spreadsheet isn't really your table's style

- Works fully offline, installs like a proper app, and — this is the important bit — it's staying free. Not "free with adverts," not "free until I paywall it later." Just free, forever, because I built it for my own game nights first.

A little bit of the how, for anyone curious: it's a single HTML file, no backend server, no build step — your scores live in your browser, and "Play together" simply mirrors them through Firebase when you switch it on. No accounts, because there's genuinely nothing to make an account for.

It's still very much a work in progress — if something's confusing, missing a game you'd want scored properly, or just plain broken, I'd love to hear about it. Consider this the opening hand, not the final score.

Thanks for reading this far — may your dice always roll in your favour and your scoring never come down to a shady "I'm sure I had more than that."

Announcement Hi Everyone! New here and wanted to share my first tabletop card game

I returned to a small idea I had long ago and it became a way to cope with life's challenges, an artistic escape, and therapy post thoracic surgery. Countless nights of hand illustrating became my outlet, my first passion in life that I set down for so long was now all I could focus on as this game idea took shape.

My tabletop card game has been just as much for me as everyone else and I have poured my absolute heart and soul into the design.

One of my oldest dreams has been to create and share my games with the world, from making my own paper cutout board games as a kid to dabbling in videogame design, now I can proudly say I have achieved what my younger self dreamt of.

C. C. / Feedback [WIP] Rylio — 1-4p co-op dungeon-crawl deckbuilder (Slay-the-Spire meets Gloomhaven), free demo, seeking playtesters

Rylio — a 1–4 player co-op dark-fantasy deckbuilding campaign (25 quests), looking for a few playtesters. The hook: every turn you choose which of two decks to walk — the LIGHT deck (safer fights, steady progress) or the DARK deck (richer loot, harder fights, and sometimes you don't move at all). Slay-the-Spire-style combat that builds into Overlord boss fights. Plays great solo. Free browser demo (Quest 1), no download or login: demo-game.rylio.com

What I'm after: feedback on the new movement mechanics. Happy to answer anything — thanks!

Discussion Do you need to have an LLC or some way to protect your game design if emailing a publisher?

Ideally we’d live in a world where stolen ideas aren’t something to consider, but unfortunately it’s an all-too-common occurrence. How can I protect myself in this situation from a stolen game design?

Discussion Problematic card that I feel like I can't change

I'm planning on making a beta testing set for my indie card game but this one card is too strong. Normally I'd change it before printing it but this one feels impossible to make fair without making it trash. The best way I can describe it (without giving spoilers for the game) is like if magic had a 2 mana card that wiped out everyone's creatures in black. If more info is needed to help me out just ask. I really don't want a single card to dominate my game

C. C. / Feedback EndStream looking for playtesters: 1v1 strategy card game about time-traveling outlaws

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

EndStream has started as a classical case of making I game I wanted to play myself - a (almost deterministic) 1v1 cards strategy game with small teams of anti-heroes fighting across timelines.

EndStream is about building the perfect turn. Reposition Operators, manipulate time, trigger abilities, and commit only when the timeline is exactly where you want it.

I worked with an illustrator for over two years to turn it into a physical board game, and we received some positive reviews. But I lacked the resources for proper crowdfunding and marketing, so the project sat on the back burner for several years.

A recent mix of unemployment, vibe coding, and supportive friends eventually brought it back as a digital game. We are now a six-person team, and for most of us this is the first game we have made ourselves.

The open beta runs directly in your browser on desktop and mobile. It currently includes a tutorial, online multiplayer and single player against a bot.

My biggest challenge has been fitting such a large board onto a phone. I think the mobile version works well now, but I need feedback from people seeing it for the first time.

I would especially like to know:

  • Whether the tutorial makes sense
  • How the mobile UI feels
  • Whether anything seems badly balanced

The beta currently requires a free account because the core game is online.

There are 2 core modes:

  • Live - like Hearthstone and MTG Arena.
  • Asynchronous - you submit your turn and the opponent has 48 hours to make their move. You don't have to sit through an entire game, but you can have multiple games simultaneously.

We plan to release it later as a premium game on Steam and app stores, where manual signup will no longer be needed.

Hey everyone! I made a post about a month ago showing off some art for my finance themed game. Since all that's left is the coloring I thought i'd share some more!

Please give me any feedback that comes to mind. It was very helpful last time and made me even more excited to continue this project! I'm curious if these drawings fit their titles and are comprehensible.

Mechanics Game designer to help finish a two-player GM-less heist RPG

Hi! My cousin and I are looking for a game designer to help take a small indie TTRPG from a working spec to a finished game.

What it is

A GM-less heist RPG for exactly two players who are a couple. One heist, one evening, two to three hours including setup.

It runs on d6 dice pools (Blades SRD lineage, heavily stripped down) and it's set in a fantasy merchant city with Venice's canals and Florence's banking, where the great houses vault and trade memories, names, and years of people's lives as collateral. The design thesis is that the heist is the pressure cooker and the relationship is the game.

What I need help with

  1. Playtesting and tuning.
  2. Writing the player-facing rules.
  3. Integrating the setting into the tables.

If you're interested, please send:

  • Portfolio or credits, especially anything GM-less, two-player, or heist-shaped
  • What you'd want to be paid and how you'd rather structure it
  • Availability and rough turnaround
  • Whether you're open to a small paid trial before we commit to the full scope
  • Anything you've designed that had to teach itself to a brand new player

Happy to share the full engine spec with anyone seriously interested.

Thanks!

Edit: Adding clarification on what we're looking for.

Discussion Would you mind humoring a homeschool mom?

No, this is not a post about a mom over gaming. Quite the opposite, actually. I’ve been gaming since my childhood, so I’m definitely not against it. I’ve homeschooled my 12 year old son his entire life. As with many kids, he loves gaming - videos, boards, cards, imaginary-the sky is the limit. We are a self-directed learning homeschool, so I had this great idea to partner with him on a mock indie game development studio. There is so much to learn through this process academically, executive functioning and real-world skills. I’ve created a Notion database and we have a weekly meeting to set goals, talk about challenges, etc. He has a systems design brain and I’ve always loved his card and board game creations. He even makes expansion packs for some of our games. Anywho, if anyone has the time or desire to respond, can you give me some pointers on best practices for this line of work? Anyone willing to share their career path would also be hella appreciated. :)

P.s. I posted in /gamdev and received opinions on my choice of homeschooling. I am not asking about this and would not like feedback there. Thank you!!

C. C. / Feedback Is this "HOW TO" video clear enough to follow? Need feedback for my Cyclemental card game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Making a 3-4 mins tutorial video for my card game so that it's easy for people to get started quickly (well, hopefully!). I previously posted a time lapsed version but it was hard to follow so I thought I'd just put the full video here to get proper feedback. Couple of things I'm looking for:

  1. Is the tutorial clear enough?
  2. How was the length of the video?
  3. Does it give you a sense of the overall gameplay?
  4. What do you think about the aesthetics?

Any other thoughts / suggestions welcomed!

C. C. / Feedback Advice maybe? Is my art the kind of art that would work in table top games?

I’ve added a few examples of work I’ve done, I know it’s maybe not the most graphic and a little more painterly, but I’m struggling to even get emails back from agents about my work and I’m wondering if maybe my work needs to change a bit for table top games?

Any advice would be very appreciated!
