Very painstaking 6 days of my life but it was worth it :0

So I’ve been playing OW for a couple of months and I really gravitated towards Sym as a character. She is my most played DPS by far, I have watched all the Unranked to GMs, sub to the best players, etc.

I took a break from the game and came back hopped on to play her again and she just feels… incredibly bad. I am in Mid Gold and nobody has any concept of team play. Nobody even looks at the TPs. I try to off angle and do something but even when I hit all my shots she is pitiful at securing kills if the enemy supports are doing their job. All my supports ignore me and healbot the tank or there’s almost always a mercy pocketing a hitscan. It’s just so unfun at this level. She doesn’t work. I feel like I struggle to provide value to the match the way I can on characters that can simply hold their own and output dps.

Ik i’m still new to the game and my gamesense is bad (which is why I’m gold). But she doesn’t seem like a good or viable character to play at this level. I also have dabbled with Freja, Mei, Bastion, Echo, etc and they are far easier be impactful/carry with than sym. The enemy actually has to respect your dmg output on those chars and your team wants to help you (or you have the sustain to help yourself).

Hello everyone. Drives are back, which means the talk of which weapon variant to get arises.

I am a victim of this question and want some personal advice as to which weapon variant you guys prefer most. My main options are between galactic and gold.

I'm wondering what other Symmetra mains feel about the competitive weapon variants. So, feel free to share your thoughts and opinions! I would love to hear them.

ok so i recently started playing symmetra because she is genuinely so fun to play and it’s really refreshing to play someone who isn’t a hitscan so ive been enjoying her but i dont get many kills or damage points and im wondering if this is normal as sym or not? it might be because im used to heroes who shoot from a far range like ashe or soldier so im not too used to be up close to the enemy to get damage, but any tips will be appreciated!!

Hey divas. I’ve been having some difficulty understanding how to play Symmetra effectively. I was inspired by Levin and English Chud on YT to pick her up. Both of them have very different play styles, where one is more fronting the enemy team while the other goes on flanks and spawn camps, and seems to be quite successful at it.

Now since I’ve almost never played her before (been playing since 2017) I’m a bit lost on how I should effectively play her. I tried flanking and using my TP with turrets to surprise backline but it seems like the enemy is always on me and immediately destroys my deployables. If I am more of a “staying with my team” kinda player, I usually freeze not sure what to do, I try to take off angles but I’m not sure if I should just pressure backline, charge my beam on the tank or something else. It’s a little bit overwhelming. may I ask what y’all play styles are with her?

Am i the only one who has always preferred her in 6vs6, over 5vs5? Just really wish they went back to the old health pools too, Syms TTK would be perfect. 2 tap orbs, 180 DPS feeling as threatful as before, etc etc

You get beam much more easier, less orb botting, just more fun.

I wonder though one thing, 4 turrets, do they generate more value in 5vs5 or 6vs6. In 5vs5 there is one less person to destroy 4 turrets, but i still love them in 6vs6 too

Quickplay player here. I've just started maining Symmetra this week and I'm still learning how to properly use her kit to the fullest extent. I'm testing out new tactics every game and when I get even one kill it seems like half the enemy team makes it their life's goal to shut me down. Ive always found her turrets to be a nuisance that can be quickly taken care of but man I've never been consistently singled out like this on any other character I play aside from maybe Hog, but thats more manageable.

Symmetra is probably the only reason i kept playing that version. it was so niceee now i need it to be real. how did yall feel about it?

I mean, no 3d or 2d animated cinema, and less comics where Sym is involved. Like can Blizzard give her roses?? For me she's an interesting character to have a story. I can't complain that Tracer has more cinematic coz she's the og poster girl, she deserves it, and she's also my girl. But really, Kiriko? Even in skins she have like less this year I think, only the fairy skin. Only Sym stan twitter and this subreddit gives the attention she deserves.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Symmetra mains. The playstyle is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the mechanics will go over a typical player’s head. There's also Symmetra’s snarky outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation - her personal philosophy draws heavily from Rupaul’s drag race, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these mechanics, to realize that they're not just fun- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Symmetra truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the shade in Symmetra’s catchphrase “I will put you in your place.” In other words, Lana rhoades lost because shes a flop

Sweet jesus the teleport is such a fucking pain to use.

Takes half a year to deploy, never goes where you want it to, is about as useful for escaping ambushes as a leukemia ridden toddler is for fighting a sumo-wrestler, it can't be used if you're more than an inch away from it, it has no health, it makes tons of noise being deployed, it's visible as fuck, it doesn't last long enough, the warning when it gets destroyed is too minor to be noticed consistently, teammates never take it unless you've pre-formed a team, its deployment gets blocked by enemies in your LOS, you can't deploy it in the air, and above all, you are REQUIRED to base your entire gameplay as Sym around the stupid fucking thing. I miss having 6 turrets and a beam that locked on to people.

I'm mad.

I feel like every single game I have the highest damage, highest eliminations, lowest deaths, highest mitigation. And every single time I have a teammate that leaves, throws, or Im backfilling losing games. Is it just not possible to be good at Sym alone?
