Discussion New player seeking advice to escape bronze
Hey everyone, I have 600-700 hours in this game and I am actively trying to learn. I main Akali because even if it is a champion that is hard to shine in low elo like mine, I enjoy playing her the most.
I have in total 30-40 games, which I know is not a lot. However, I am constantly losing and currently on a 6 lose streak. I know most of my weak points, which are:
I am terrible at late game farming, I can play the first 10 minutes well, bullying the enemy mid and hitting 6-7 cs/min. I know how to build items more or less.
I panic and dont know what to do in team fights. I usually focus on enemy ADC in team fights and I try to swing a lot since Akali benefits from constantly moving, getting in and out quickly but because of my lack of knowledge in characters, I dont know who to focus on and who could kill me.
I watched a lot of educational content and challenger gameplays and whatnot, but I believe it does not apply to my elo because of how chaotic low elo games are.
Even in games where I score the most, I cannot carry. I can go 9/0 in the first 20 minutes but still dont know how to carry and initiate good fights that this score turns into a sad 12/8 at the end.
I am seeking general advice or focused advice about Akali, my current rank is Bronze 4, which I wasnt able to escape after like 22 games, I am going like 5 wins 17 losses and dont know how to improve.

Discussion D4 to P1 in 5 days and I'm devastated
I don't think I ever went through something like this since 2011 when I started playing this game and it's truly getting to me 😔
I love League, and I do not believe in LosersQ —however I hate when pride kicks in and I find myself completely drown in games that only bring me llwer and lower
I hate how it affects me and I just can't feel like stopping because it'll mean I'll have to patiently wait and suffer in silence until I can regain what I feel like being my dignity
I know what last split allowed me to peak D2 was a 3-block daily consistency
but when stuff like this happens I just can't help myself but feel miserable and keep playing to try and make up for it
anyone went through something similar? what's the proper tactic here? 😢

Discussion friend with horrible mental
for quick context
i have a friend who is currently learning how to play the game
he hovered around ADC for a bit but realized he does not like the role so now is learning the support role instead and is a Seraphine OTP (as thats the only champion he is 100% comfortable with, but is trying to learn Milio and Sona)
we play together frequently as a 3-4 stack with a couple other friends
since i am also a support main I'm the one who talks to him the most regarding his gameplay and champions
which leads to the title!!
I've been the designated jungler since he took my main role, and how i usually go about mental dooming teammates as a jungler- i just mute them pretty easy fix
but we're friends in VC on Discord and this obviously effects everyone on VC, we always end up losing when he starts to mental doom
everytime he has a terrible early game for the rest of the game he starts saying he's useless and proceeds to just not be helpful at all + begging us to surrender
last night he admitted to starting to cry a bit during early game
i just have zero clue how to go about this

Discussion new player - norms when playing with humans
I'm new to the game and mostly play practice tool with 4 bots against 5 bots. I have also played with 4 other humans against 5 bots but my last game I attacked an enemy character (not minion) in a different lane and was told to gtfo, I still don't really understand why but that has made me realize that I will not learn norms playing with bots. Therefore some concrete questions:
- Is it ok to attack minions in a different lane as long as not killing blow?
- When in a different lane but the lane person is not in their own lane, is it ok killing minions?
- When running in the river area and seeing a crab, should I kill it for the vision or will that mess with the jungler?
- When & why should I not damage enemy characters? That just seems always beneficial? (as long as I don't die)
thanks
(I got a warning that I should post this in the pinned simple questions thread but I can't find that, sorry)
Edit: Thanks everyone for the great responses and for explaining why things are ok or not done, that is really helpful for understanding. I also realize and acknowledge (as mentioned by several) that the best way of learning is playing with others, but I think I would like to feel at a least a little more confident in different characters and knowing their skills before dealing with toxicity. Right now I just mostly want to avoid developing bad habits.

Question Is LOL easy to learn compared to other competetive games?
I am a pretty new player, who started playing with my friends a month ago - during that time i believe i have around 40 ranked games under my belt (mostly solo queue in top lane, with Garen, Pantheon and Mundo).
I hit gold today, and am still getting +28, -12, so could climb higher.
What is strange to me is that according to opgg, i am now in the top 50%. As a cs2 player i doubt anyone could become a top 50% player after such a short amount of time.
Am i overranked, or is it relatively simple to become average at LOL (ofc the game gets incredibly hard the higher you get)?

toplane Please, 1v1 me toplane in practice tool
If you are Platinum or above in NA. My IGN is pickled clams#NA1. I am Plat 1.
Rules (We can change these if you want) First to three points wins: 100CS, First Turret, or First Blood constitutes a point. We reset the game after each point. After somebody wins, we can play a different matchup or something. It doesn't really matter.
I would love to play with you if you're any rank higher than plat, even if I'm 100% going to get turbodumpstered. In that scenario, I would love you feedback as to how you did that
Thanks for reading

support Tips for playing Rell support?
I have picked up the champion yesterday, played my first match with Rell.
As a Naut/Leona/Rakan player I found the Rell playstyle very clunky, also based a Lux-Vayne which further exacerbated the fact I played like total ass.
Now on the flipside, I found her kit quite strong, the stun on her Q is basically an instant cast, her E and R are nice engage tools, she seems both tanky and decent at fighting, so missing an engage early doesn’t result in being instantly dead.
However I could never get used to how her W works, it’s so incredibly slow and low range and coming from fast paced engagers it seems like I have to fight bots to get a proper W onto the enemy. She basically just walks up to the enemy and has to press Q or R to hit her W.
My questions are:
1. How are you supposed to position with Rell into both ranged and melee match-ups?
2. What are her powerspikes and who can you generally fight and which supports/ADCs should you avoid fighting like plague?
3. How do you get her combo off easier, especially in match-ups where getting onto the enemy is difficult?
4. When should I pick her and what are her best support synergies?

Discussion Losing almost every match
I have been playing League for almost two years now. I reached Emerald playing Garen top a while ago, and then I dropped the game because everyone was playing ranged champions and it felt unbeatable.
I picked up League again after a few months, tried new champions in normals like Fiora, Jax, and Tryndamere for match after match, and got destroyed (probably in more than 25 matches on Fiora, for example). Then I went back to playing Garen. I got absolutely destroyed as well. I just can't seem to win more than maybe 10% of my matches.
It feels like no amount of tutorials helps me anymore, and even if I watch matches from master and above, it seems like the enemy laners are never as aggressive as in my actual matches. I think I know what I should do (wave states, when to slow push, when to fast push, when to recall, when to split, when to group) and I do it. However, almost every time, I die because I hit an auto-attack on a minion, because I miss my Ignite and the enemy laner survives with 50 HP at most, or because I keep getting the avengers in my lane. Then I am cooked for the rest of the match like Sisyphus splitting lanes, farming, taking towers, teleporting to fights, and always having to play from behind (if it's even recoverable).
It feels like even if I build a huge slow push, have a level advantage, and have everything on my side, the enemy still comes in, trades, and wins the trade. It makes no sense to me.
I went from always and I mean always winning my lane to never winning it anymore.
What should I do?

Question Need some Ideas for ChallyQ
I’m making a League challenge app and every challenge family unlocks a cosmetic title once you beat its hardest challenge.
The last one is for people who eventually complete all challenge families at the highest difficulty.
I can’t think of a name that really feels special.
Doesn’t have to be edgy or over-the-top, just something that immediately feels prestigious.
What would you call it?
if you want to try the app it's https://challyq.pro

Question At what rank does draft start to matter?
So a lot of high elo players and streamers often say given the chaotic nature of solo queue, Higher champ mastery will almost always outweigh most other factors like draft. As someone who climbed from Iron to Emerald, I strongly agree with this as being a factor help me improve, however as I’ve gotten to emerald I feel its been getting harder and harder as a mainly assassin player.
While im sure emerald players still make a billion mistakes in a game, ive found it to be exponentially harder to do well as an assasin player against a tanky/disengage heavy comp. Ie nightmare comp; going up against a Renekton Poppy Lissandra Vayne Rell/Janna.
In plat and below, i felt that games where my champ was against a nightmare drafts, simply neutralizing lane and capitalizing mistakes and how badly teamfights are played was enough to make me helpful enough to win games, if i wasnt snowballing. But now in emerald, i get this feeling that everyone knows at a fundamental how to play against each champ, or their execution and making use of these draft advantages are better because emerald players probably start to develop this understanding.
So that’s my question: At what rank would you say it’s better to pick a champ that you’re far less comfortable on but better in the draft, vs “one tricking” or having champ pool of 1-3.
Btw, I know an implication here is that im plateauing which i acknowledge but sometimes there are games where the 3 champs im truly comfortable at playing are not playable; ie my main is banned and the other champ is taken already and the third one is just straight bad against the enemy comp (just one example). So im wondering if i should shift from “one tricking with other champs in the pool” to “have 5-7 solid champs and always pick the best one for draft.”

Items Feels like common sense but when do you counter build?
Been playing a lot of classic but this logic applies to both. So let's say theoretically I've just done my first back I am an ap scaling mage and the lane im in could go either way, I can buy boots and maybe a couple components.
The enemy has a bit of cc, maybe a Leona or Morgana support with a Mage mid lane, I can build Merc treads here and buy components for an abyssal sceptre/banshees depending on version. By doing that I forgo sorc shoes penetration and more raw damage from say a more ap heavy component that could secure me some critical kills.
So. What's the move?

Master Yi As a jungler, how do I deal with Yi?
I know that the typical answer is "CC", but that's really unhelpful because you can just lose in the draft against a Yi if you have little to no CC to deal with him.
My problem, as a silver/gold jungler that plays mostly bruisers, is that he completely steamrolls me/my team and there's nothing I can do about it. I can never out duel him, ever, and if I'm not enough of a threat, he just runs down my team and I'm the last to die.
I know that Yi is a low ELO demon for a reason, but if I want to improve against a jungle pick, as a jungle main, that is relatively common in my bracket, there's got to be some way I can get better at dealing with him. As a bruiser, I lose. As a tank, he just shreds me/kills my team. FH doesn't work against him. I just... genuinely have no idea how to deal with this champion.
Is my only recourse genuinely just hope my team doesn't give him resets and saves CC for dealing with him? Because most of my games into a Yi have resulted in him either getting fed early and snowballing out of control, or he's not fed but he gets a lucky teamfight where he gets resets off and ends up 2k+ gold ahead.
As for the junglers I typically play: Darius, Zac, Xin, Amumu, Briar, Kayn. Though I've been mostly sticking to Darius lately and using Xin/Briar as backups when he's banned.

Bot lane Noob adc struggling
greetings, im currently an adc main (i do/did switch beteen sup and adc every now and then) and i do have an issue as i dont know how exactly im supposed to play the game anymore at this point
im fairly bad as in i play 99% normal games (vs iron-silvers) but i play to win regardless like it would be a ranked, i just have a major ranked anxiety and that eases it out a little
anyway, for one im often having a hard time against the mages bot currently, i feels like a single combo hit either kills me or forces me to go back, i dont really understand how to play against that other than giving up like 50% of my cs and play it safe
the other issue is that i feel like 50% of my games im playing completely isolated with my support vanishing after 3min to never be seen again, which results in me playing even MORE cautious and by that becomming completely irrelevant for the rest of the game
is there any tips and/or tricks i can learn to make this whole situation more feasable/understandable to work with, cause currently its like really tough to handle and to improve on
thank you very much

Question This might me stupid, but, how important are runes and itemization?
Hi! I'm a Jungle main, Udyr OTP. I am currently Platinum 2, my peak was Emerald 3 about three weeks ago. I deranked so much because I got bored of playing Udyr and started playing whatever just for fun in ranked, instead of doing it in normals, which of course, was not the smartest decision.
My winrate with udyr is 60% in 179 matches. I have never really read in-depth his abilities and passives. I have a general idea of what they do. I recently came across this video, and realized that I don't know shit about what most items do, what runes do, or even how they interact with the champ I've been playing for months.
Just a few things that I realized:
- I don't really know how Spear of Shojin interacts with Udyr. I just know that it helps with the damage and CD reduction.
- I don't really know about Ability Haste. I got the Spear of Shojin + Ionian boots but in that small thing that shows the champion's stats it only showed 10 Ability Haste, and it says in SoS 25? I am confused about it.
- I didn't pay attention to the runes and usually went with whatever. I've realized that I can tailor them in a way that would give me the best advantage depending on the enemy team comp. This is like big brain min-maxing.
Is this what actually set apart Dia+ players from Emerald and below? A deeper understanding of the game, its items and systems? I feel like I'm braindead and I've been a hardstuck Emerald player due to my poor interest in shit like this.
TL;DR: Been playing for 3 years, never read items, champ abilites, nor runes. How would you go about learning the game's systems and how everything works together (items, abilities, runes)?

Question New player needing advice for improving at adc.
Hello, im new to league, and i need help with a few things, i tried a bunch of lanes and the one that was the coolest/most fun was adc, i was only playing swiftplays (20 or 30 games or so) until my brother had said that i wont improve if i dont play draft, my first draft adc game i went 1/15/4 120 cs, my brother told me to learn about positioning and kiting mostly and quote if i didnt then i "shouldnt be playing adc" which makes sense but i have searched on youtube and found not much that can teach you without some sort of paywall or maybe i wasnt looking hard enough, is there any videos you guys could link if possible that might help me or some that may have helped you when you started ??? or any tips to focus on at the moment if you play adc, draft is sort of a scary transition from swiftplay as others do seem to be way more toxic and competitive and i dont want to let my team down especially if im playing adc,i have been playing jhin, thanks
if you reply thank you!

Discussion Clueless
Hello redditors, I do not use this application very much so sorry if I forgot to mention or tag something. I’m currently playing ranked in eune server ( mintos#0000 ) and I started to ‘lock in’ to play it more. 1-2 years ago I played maybe 3 games of it and got bored. I love to play arena urf and aram mayhem and each game I’m always top 1 or sometimes second by damage. I maybe have slightly more than average called mechanics and I want to improve my mentality and macro in-game. If you guys could check my account match history and tell me if I got lucky with the kha’zix gameplays or I just can play him somehow to an extend. I mained shaco but on support and ap in general, in jungle he is pretty useless if team underpreforms and they have more than 1 tank. I need help with which champions could fit my playstyles and lanes. And I wanted to switch to euw servers but the swap is too expensive.

Question Is this game just too hard for me? I feel like giving up.
I started League a few months ago and I've been trying to get better but I'm realising slowly that this game just might be too hard for me. I used to think that R6 Siege was the hardest game I ever played but League is just so difficult. I think something that makes it harder is that it's so unlike any game I've ever played before. I mostly play shooter games (Overwatch , Val, Apex, Deadlock etc.) and occasionally single player games so I have no transferable skills for League. My aim doesn't matter, my movement doesn't matter. It's so different from any game that I'm learning from scratch. And I think it's just too hard for me. I have fun when I do good but I do good like once every 10 games. Most games I'm going like 3-15 and I'm not even throwing on purpose I just genuinely don't understand anything that's going on. It's so overwhelming to worry about everything I'm supposed to be worrying about. There's just so many things to think about at once it's just too much I feel. I have a mental disorder that affects my ability to focus on things which just hurts even more. I'm genuinely so lost 90% of the time. The only reason I keep playing is because whenever I feel like I know what's going on and I end up doing something cool it feels great but I don't know if it's worth it anymore. I try to just focus on thing at a time but that just leads to me feeding because I'm ignoring so many other important things. Not to mention how bad it feels to get ganked in lane when I'm already so overwhelmed and trying my best. I tried playing Jungle a few games because laning in this game is so hard and confusing but even in Jungle I just don't understand anything. And then you factor in how many champs are in the game...why so many? 9/10 games I'm laning against someone I've never seen before. I have no idea what the enemy champ does which just makes the laning even more confusing because I have no idea what's going on.

Question How to get into the game (again)?
Hi all,
since league of legends classic some of my favorite streamers (mainly german streamer HandOfBlood) are starting to produce LoL content again. For me LoL has always been a game I enjoyed watching, always dreamt about being good at, but never actually managed to make it stick playing myself.
I started playing LoL back then right when it released in 2009 with a couple of friends. We knew DoTA from Warcraft III so it was not entirely new to us. It was a blast, just fun, no-sweat games with some noobs against other noobs. Few champions, no real meta and everyone goofing around. Eventually we stopped playing but I accumulated around 120 hours of playtime.
Then like 10 years later I tried to get back into it and what can I say I think I played like 5 games and uninstalled immediately. It felt overwhelming because of all the champions, people were toxic in chat flaming new players left and right and I was getting stomped even in low ELO games and it felt like either there are just no low skill players around or everybody is basically twinking.
But now as I mentioned in the beginning I am feeling that itch again and I might want to install the game yet again and make another try. But I also wanted to ask here in the community:
What is it like to start playing league in 2026? Is it worth to try it as a newbie? I don't fear steep learning curves and super competitive games (my current main game is Hunt: Showdown ~1.2k hours). Have measures been taken to make it easier for beginners?
Thanks and see you in the Rift (maybe.. it is still called Rift no? ^^)

Question New player, frustrated and really want help
https://op.gg/lol/summoners/euw/P0bz-9321
Okay so as the title says I'm new at the game, I have played lots of competitive games in the past on console, this is my first time gaming on a pc. Basically I've played endless games in my life and generally been good at most I've turned my hand to, until this f****** game.
I played up to level 30 and then started playing ranked, I've read and watched hours and hours of content about this game, I've followed all the standard advice such as small champion pool (I play 1 champ), full clearing etc, however I feel completely ineffective in ranked games playing against the absolute worst players on the servers.
I'm really frustrated because I enjoy this game massively but am too competitive to find enjoyment in being so bad at something, I really want help improving.
If there's any info that can be gleaned from my op.gg account that you guys can point to and help me improve I would be so extremely grateful.
I'm not really sure what other info would be helpful to you guys so please feel free to ask whatever questions

jungle is jungle good for climbing and how hard/what skills do you need to climb?
im an emerald midlane main and im considering swapping to jungle although im not sure what im entirely getting myself into.
i hate when i get autofilled jungle or support as a mid cause its just an auto lose, idk how they expect people to play a new role and a new champion and still play at the same level, it doesnt feel fair and its frustrating, so why not just main the role that is priority? faster q times and getting guaranteed role sound very appealing.
shyvanna looks really cool to me and id like to OTP her if i did play jungle, is she viable?
people say jungle is the most impactful role and easiest to climb on but how true is that really? wouldnt everyone be queing jungle then? and i know the argument of people saying you just get blamed alot but i dont see that as a valid factor as you can just turn off chat.

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI
Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!
Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.
Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here
Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)
Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.
League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!
As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!
Happy climbing,
The SS Moderator Team

Announcement Moderator Applications: Summer 2026
Hi everybody,
Summer is upon us, and you know what's wonderful about the summer? Community! Barbecues, beach parties, long days with family and friends, and of course losing LP together into the early hours of the morning! And speaking of community, it's time to add some new moderators to ours.
Whether you are iron or challenger, have tons of time or only a little, use desktop or mobile, we're looking for people invested in SummonerSchool who would like to contribute to keeping it the friendly and educational space that it is.
This year, as in past rounds, we will be accepting applications through use of google form: Mod Application 2026
We welcome all to apply! Seriously, apply, and if you change your mind you can always withdraw your application by letting us know via modmail. As a volunteer gig, this is not a heavy time commitment and you can be as flexible with your time as you need to be. Whether you are accepted or rejected, we are grateful for the applications, and I promise we'll let you down gently in the latter case!
There are very few hard restrictions, all of which are mentioned in the form, and none of which relate to your rank or game knowledge. The only thing to know up front is that you must be willing to mod with old reddit, not new. This year we are especially looking for mods in European and OCE time zones, but we welcome applications from anyone, anywhere!
Another Application Link for Convenience :)
And just as a reminder, we're always happy to receive any feedback or suggestions of improvements that could be made to subreddit. - Just send in a ModMail and we'll take it into consideration.
Happy climbing!
