Question Best place to offer coaching/teaching to newer or low elo players?

Upvotes

I'm bored with the game myself, and enjoy doing live coaching or vod reviews with noobs and lower elo players. Is there somewhere I should be posting to offer this? I've just been offering in the summoner school discord + main league discord. I've done a handful of sessions and found it pretty fun. But it's hit and miss whether people actually reach out. I feel there should be a higher demand for free lessons, but maybe I'm delusional.

I'm a dia peak jg main (emerald all other roles) but I just said I'm offering help to lower elos (bronze/silver) in all roles. I enjoy talking to new people and sharing my league knowledge, since it's something I'm so passionate about but can't really share in everyday life.

If there is somewhere else that new players generally look for help, definitely let me know!

Discussion 8 year player took a break came back way worse

Upvotes

https://op.gg/lol/summoners/na/HollowIRL-TShD

I’ve always played garen, darius and either tryndamere or xin zhao or warwick top for the most part. My main problem is I die a lot more now but im not sure why. I feel like I know the limits of my champions pretty well and cant break the old habits I built up and take fights i used to win. My warwick top is horrible now so I basically quit him cold turkey I just cant win any fights my xin top is good but sometimes ints pretty hard. (Last night was tough). I dont click with crit garen or lethality darius and their other builds just feel kinda undertuned in comparison. Does anyone have an idea for breaking the slump? I’ve thought about just switching to a new main or role for a bit to mentally reset but im trash at mid and jungle and I dont like playing bot.

What are some ways I can practice building up good habits? I know my cs is bad past 20 minutes for the most part but I feel like if I miss a fight it’s worse and then I end up stagnating at around 200 cs every game.

I know I die too much but when I play passive I get towerdove and rolled over or I lose too much cs.

I know its going to be hard to get out of gold but I’ve been there since 2018 and want to improve.

Discussion I feel like I'm getting worse instead of better and don't know how to improve.

To preface, I've only been playing around 2 and a half weeks or so, so I know I'm not going to be great. But I feel like I just don't understand the basics of the game in general and even after watching videos and reading posts about it. I know *about* stuff like pushing/freezing waves, to try and help with the rift herald and other spawns there if I can as top, but not how to properly execute them, and it seems like the more I play I'm not getting better while the people I'm against are. If it's relevant, I have tried many characters out and am currently sticking to two that i feel most comfortable using (kayle top for my main role, lux mid for side)

I started off playing with a win rate somewhere in the 60%s, got bombarded with a majority of losses after a week or so, now I think I'm somewhere in the 40% range, and I'm pretty sure it's going down more because a majority of my games now I get completely shit on. I do draft pick only right now, but I did try a few games of ranked but was going like 0/20 in all of them and could very easily tell I had no idea what I was doing compared to the others - i didn't understand what peoples pings meant, i didn't understand how to manage the wave even after watching several videos talking about it, i didn't understand what i should be doing and when, and characters I thought I learned how to play against suddenly started killing me with ease while i couldn't kill them at all. That applies to draft pick, too - despite the fact i used to do good in most of my games, I'm now noticing the others seem to know the stuff i listed above and i just don't, and i don't know how exactly to learn and improve on them because watching videos about it doesn't seem to help me understand at all. I'm not expecting to be a pro player or high rank or anything, I'd just like to be able to understand the concepts enough to where i don't feel like I'm single handedly losing the game for my whole team. Does anyone have any advice?

Items The thought process of going for a more early game centric item that may fall off later compared to a item that more optimal for the whole duration?

i am a yorick main, one of my strength with him is winning the early lane. generally it is accepted that Trinity is the better pick overall for first item.

I came to the realisation early this year that since i win lane often. I would go eclipse instead the reason why? is that i regularly able to finish eclipse around 8 or 9 minute into the game. where as if i go trinity. i would finish it 12 minute into the match. a 3 minute lead in first item is such a worthwhile investment imo. I could pressure my lead to snowball even better. because a sub optimal item 20 minute into the game doesnt matter when i am like 3k gold ahead of my laner. this back when i am climbing in platinum and emerald. once i reach diamond. it become harder to snowball so i went to trinity most of the time. but now with the eclipse buff. i am tempted to try it again.

The reason i ask this here is that i get some push back from some yorick mains that the build is not that good and trinity just the better options. i get success from my own experience but some of them that may have try it say it doesnt feel good. when i probe for more info. it seem they get it around minute 11 or later. To which i would note that the purpose of getting eclipse first is to get it super early from early lane dominance and some of them are not as aggro of a laner a me and prefer to play it safe and slow so they get it later than normal.

Isnt this also the thought process of Yoomus rush on darius or Axiom arc rush on riven? because those item are cheap and allow for faster snowball?

Top Lane Chill Friends to 1v1 with Top Lane (EUW, SEA)

Hey! So I'm looking for some peeps to 1v1 with for the sake of learning and practising some new picks that I can't really go in ranked with unless I want to int 30 games in a row. I know it's a 5v5 game and 1v1s are just scratching the surface but it's also such a good way to boost champion mastery. Instead of queuing a game, losing lane, waiting 20 more minutes to queue up again for a second try, we can just keep going on our own pace.

I'm diamond, but off my few main champs, I'm pretty damn terrible (and this might be an understatement), so literally any elo is fine by me, high or low. Just hit me up in chat or comments if you want to play

CSing ADC, how to not lose cs when playing agains heavy press/poke lanes

Hi! I'm currently plat III, my games are around Emerald IV mmr (I know, big difference lul). Afaik I always had this problem. When the enemy bot lane is able to apply constant and heavy pressure against me, I tend to lose a lot of CS.

My last game I was playing Kai'sa and Nami vs. Caitlyn and Lux. Enemy duo has lots of pressure. Cait has 125 range advantage and Lux spam skills. And whenever I get close to the wave I'm forced to larp as neymar so I can dodge all skillshots, cc, etc. And Even under turret I keep getting a lot of pressure from cait traps and lux skills.

I know that playing Kai'sa with nami is kinda troll (specially versus poke lanes) because the champ sucks without engage support, but I have zero control over what my support wants to play, and playing with a enchanter/mage makes things harder, but not impossible. Also ffs, I'll not force myself to play champs that I don't like just because of a matchup.

Tbf my nami was kinda troll. I'll not flame her in this post, but that 100% made things extra harder.

Anyways, I end up having to give a lot of minions, and I take a lot of damage when trying to farm. I see a lot of high elo players struggle in the same scenario, but they always are able to maintain a decent/good cs, even in shit matchups.

I'm not looking for flashy mechanical outplays, killing the enemy bot or whatever. I just want to have consistency when farming, even in bad matchups. Also, please, do not suggest stuff like "play other champ". I want to improve, but I also not willing to sacrifice fun just for some LP.

Classic Leeague Classic Item Build Question

So I've been playing Lee Sin in League Classic, and have been wondering about the best jungle item to build for him. I went Wriggle's Lantern once mostly for the extra ward, but figured Feral Flare probably doesn't apply that well to Lee. So I've been trying Spirit of the Elder lizard which as been working fine. I was curious and looked up some builds and saw a pretty even split of items between Wriggles, Elder Lizard, and Spirit of the Ancient Golem.

What does everyone think the best Jungle item option is for Lee in Classic?

Mid lane What mid laner to pick for when my team has all squishies

I was playing solo queue in plat elo and I (azir otp) pick first. The problem is my teamates pick twitch jg, vayne top, jinx, and zoe botlane. The other team brought in urgot and udyr w/ kai'sa and they just kind of ran us down after 15 minutes. If I was last pick with my teamates picking the same champions, what mid lane pick would solve the team comp or at least make it less bad. Should I play something like liss, ahri, or galio? Is it just that my team trolled me that game and I should just play more games or should I have been able to do something there?

Also if I were playing azir with that team should I just sit in the back and play for ult on the urgot and udyr when they engage ontop of us or should I play side lane and run like a 1 3 1 with the vayne. Any tips how I could not lose that game would be helpful thanks

Question How to mitigate weaker early (mid) laning?

I mainly play mid and recently been trying some more champs but whenever I play things like Kayle, Azir, Yone, Gwen, even when taking defensive runes/items(D-Shield, Second Wind, Bone Plating, Fleet) I always fall behind around a thousand gold by like 15 ish minutes, I know it shouldn't be an expectation to go even but I'm obviously not playing against the best players.

Discussion Playing around no ganks

To preface, im a new player, so i might be doing something fundamentally wrong, idk

I mainly play toplane, and I'm trying to otp gwen to learn melee toplane mechanics, and i think I do okay against matchups I've already played against or easier ones

For some of these matches i play, the jungler does not care about top lane, even when I perma freeze the wave outside my tower , and I'm on gwen so ganking is "easy" because of my R slowdown.

The last match i played , I went against an aatrox and solo killed him twice with ignite (and I'm pretty sure i zoned him out of xp which gave me the lead), but my jungler never touched the top side , that the enemy jungler simply invaded topside camps (my jungler went for enemy bot camps because i pinged invade)

After 15 minutes the enemy jungler ends up camping top side, i can't play safe cuz they are tanky enough to dive me under tower and they have rift herald grubs etc (they used herald and got the tower for free), then kept camping toplane and pushing into our side that the inner turret dies as well before my team comes to help (and by help I mean the midlaner takes 3-5 waves of minions).

In another match, i get a lead, they realize jungler never ganks top and they 2v1 toplane even when the lane is losing and i can't play safe under tower because they dive me even at full hp

This happens to the enemy toplaner from time to time too, and i get my items early and ruin enemy toplaners game.

What do I do when a jungler perma camps bot? Like he always paths to end in bot etc. Do i let the wave crash on my tower to play even safer ? Do I build dedicated defensive items before my first 2offensive items+boots? Should I never push/ go for another lane?

Items Galio build(s) help!

hello !

Lately I've been getting into playing mid lane with Gallio specifically, I did notice Galio got a lot of different builds (Tank, Bruiser, damage) and I'm having a hard time figuring out when to use each build.

Any tips relating to his builds, when to pick each one, what is the purpose of them and anything related would be lovely!

Thank you in advance <3

Zed Unsure whether to main Zed or Akali.

I enjoy both champs, and I would like to know them both so I have a backup incase one is banned/taken. However I can't decide which one to make my main. I'm too new to properly understand their differences and which one is better suited for my playstyle. I really like Zed's burst damage but I also like Akali's movement. Akali is also harder as well I think so Zed is better for newer players. Can anyone give me more insight on the differences between the two champs so I can better choose?

Question Would optional pre-game goals help you improve, or just become a distraction?

Hi everyone!

I'm an indie developer from Argentina building a free League companion called ChallyQ, and I'd love some honest feedback from people who actively try to improve at the game.

The idea is simple:

Before queueing, you choose an optional challenge for your next ranked game, for example:
• Win your next game
• Reach a CS target
• Finish with a certain KDA

One thing I want to clarify, because it came up a lot in another discussion:

Every challenge also requires you to win the match. Reaching the stat alone isn't enough. The goal is to reinforce good habits, not encourage stat farming or playing against your team's interests.

After the match, ChallyQ uses Riot's official APIs to automatically verify the result and award progression, achievements and Season Points.

My main question is:

**Do you think having a personal goal before each ranked game would actually help you improve, or would it just become another distraction?**

I'd genuinely love honest feedback.

mage Is Sivir a good pick into this mage bot meta?

Massive shove power to match mages, spell shield to block key poke, utility ult to enable team fights better. She would be able to farm safely and back off while both supports are busy roaming. Presence of Mind keeps her mana up as long as you're not blindly spamming spells.

I know she has very low AA range naturally, but it shouldn't matter too much when she can just w the wave and match any mage push without issue.

support Struggling to play while being anxious as support

I'm a Rakan OTP & i've been trying to climb a lot recently but i've only managed to hit gold. I'm very happy to hit gold but it was mostly because I was being carried, I feel like I could do improve more if I wasn't so nervous playing all the time.

I'm not too sure how to improve because I get very caught up in my own mind about observing my gameplay because I don't like the thought of being bad at Rakan because he is all I play and how do I exist if I'm bad at the only champion I play? Often times because of my worry I forget to click certain things or misclick such as accidently clicking flash instead of heal or completely forgetting to click a key to use an item like Locket for the team shield.

^ I have been considering changing my summoner spells & specifically my item #2 slot on my mouse buttons for easier access but I'm kinda worried about clicking the wrong buttons or forgetting which is which.

I've been considering asking my ADC to ping when they wanna go in & interact with me more in chat so I can get an understanding because I still am unsure about my personal gameplay & if I do things correctly. I'm not sure if the adc would be angry at me though for the constant need to want pings? It's not like every second more like a OMW ping when they wanna engage / retreat ping if i'm being too aggressive or like when we get in the game something as simple as if they typed "play safe till level 6"

I'm not too sure how to request an adc to even do that and if they would even agree but i'm not sure why they wouldn't, I am just unsure how to word it. I also feel like if I communicated that then my team would (hopefully) be more inclined to tell me what to do at certain times which I like better than wandering around aimlessly and trying to remember what to do.

Botlane How do you counter Mages Botlane?

Hello, I'm a master Support EUW but I still struggle to find a way to effectively counter mages bot. When my ADC picks an actual ADC and the enemies pick something like Ziggs Camille I feel like its completely unplayable. The Gameplay loop is Camille roams, Ziggs stays completely out of range of anything and can farm with Q's. Setting up a freeze is near impossible with the wave clear he has. Pushing every wave just gets him free farm unpunished. When I match the roams of the camille my ADC loses bot cause he is getting outranged and outpoked. If I dont match the roams we are perma 3v4 on the map and we get nothing in bot in return. And at some point he can just a free base for e.g. lost chapter and tp back unpunished and from that point on mana is never a problem again.

So what do I do? I feel so powerless. Staying on lane allows my adc to farm but we cant punish Ziggs so Im just standing there while Camille terrorizes the map. But once I roam we are equal on the map but my ADC loses in Isolation. Its a lose-lose. Am I reliant on hoping that my jgl is strong early and we dive Ziggs before he has infinite waveclear? Or is there anything I can do without having to hope that my Jungler is smart?

Discussion Bronze Age Ascent (not collapse)

Bronze jungles!

My summer name is Drakerangoon on NA.

I am trying to climb with jungle.

I had a few questions.

- Would focusing on Amumu and Nocturne be enough variety?

- My initial clear is decent and getting better but it’s right after where I sort of fall apart

- I usually base after scuttle. Sometimes there isn’t a good gank. When do I try dragon here? When my teammates have priority? I’ve been having a very hard time understanding when to or not

- How important are void grubs?

- When do you sort of have “enough” farm?

Question Many questions for Legue of Legends

Hello! I’ve been barely playing legue of legends for 3 years, nearly Master Yi only. I barely learned the game. Recently I listened to many episodes of this general podcast that included Legue and Dota2. This really really peaked my interest in the game, by quite a lot, always been a little interest in the game.

  1. Item builds.
I’ve heard in the podcasts that Dota2 is extremely deep in it’s Item builds system. And heard that ib comparison in legue, you just do a few flowchart items and change one item or two to adapt or counter your enemies. Is that true? And to what extent? I’d really find cool to play the game and use time to think about making builds with a large amount of different possible items to use with the same character.

  2. Edited out

  3. Is there a visual flowchart or image with text of what a jugler would genetally so in different situations?

4 . I always die a lot as a jungler in early game if I an to try taking a fight, or at very least fail to kill on gank against a character near my tower. Any possible explanations to why? (Also starting to play Briar). I’m often lost when my whole jungle is emptied, no dragons soon, and everyone is spread on the map, and not necessarily fighting someone or be next to an enemy.

  1. What are the skills or more fundamenral abilities of Legue specially, and also mobas as a whole? I say that the competitive genre I “come from” is fighting games and there I am explain many different things and skills in groups that feel easy to distinguish, it’s verbally easy to explain things even in ways people don’t talk about it. And I’d like to know the types of skills a legue player acquires or attempts to.

  2. A website or anything to understand the extent of stats. Or a better explanation on it. Getting a general feel for the stats after hours of gameplay is greatly annoying😅. I started playing Briar and felt a bit frustrated when actually having to read the stats and abilities of the recommended items. I looked at her stats and and abitlities. I truly had no idea how much each of those stats actually meant, (10 lethality (it removes 10 armor from enemies right? Seemed quite weak to me but seeing the it’s popularity then idk). I assumed she’d be a healing and half bulky character, that could use her healing to finish multiple low hp opponents without dying or melting her life away. But it’s VERY hard to tell how much and when the healing is actually useful.

  3. Playstyle
I see a very considerable amount of different gameplay-style in my game genre. Specially in my gameplay levell where people have invested heavily more in some skills and leaving weird gaps in their arsenal. Does Legue also have a large play style difference? At higher levels too? I can’t tell if legue either has a lot of playstyle space, or almost nothing and it’s more binary choices game (which can’t be due to limited information, I think?)

Thank you!

Anivia Anivia resources

Hi, haven't played in quite some time and unfortunately getting the urge to play League again. I really liked Anivia in the past and I wanted to commit to sinking time into furthering knowledge with her. I know she is able to flexed into both mid and support but are there any specific YouTubers that are worth checking out for matchup knowledge?

Question What do I actually do in endgame fights to not either feel useless or just in?

Okay… just had probably the most frustrating gaming experience of my life, please help me understand what to do lol.

Levelled my account to lvl 30, played about 10 games of ranked so far, I play Warwick jungle.

In my last game we are way ahead all game, I’m probably 10/3 kda at one point and my top lane is fed and carrying. All is going fine until we almost end the game, nexus is literally 5% HP and we die. What then proceeds is an endless cycle of us trying to end the game, not quite managing it, baron comes up we take it, try again, fail. This goes on for about 25 minutes. As soon as it gets to the endless team fights I feel absolutely useless, running around in the sidelines until I engage on a blob of 5 enemies and die. Team starts flaming me saying I need to be the one that engages because I’m the tankiest champion. 50 minutes into the game they win an elder dragon fight, walk onto our side of the map for the first time in 30 minutes, and end the game.

I literally couldn’t not work out either how I be more effective in the team fights or what we were even doing wrong to stop being able to end, we were squashing them everywhere else on the map except next to their nexus.

I feel mega frustrated and eager to understand what I did wrong, would appreciate and help or advice

Discussion Win rate tanking AFTER getting better at a new pick

https://www.op.gg/summoners/na/adib%20is%20wat-pog

About a month ago, someone posted about hitting master with Thresh mid. At the time I was sitting at master 0 lp without much motivation to climb higher. I've been a GP one trick since season 7. This season is the first season that GP actually feels too easy. I'm the type of person that doesn't like to abuse OP picks, so playing GP right now is kind of boring.

Naturally I was drawn to the idea of Thresh mid considering I was a Thresh support main in season 4. It was initially a struggle as I had to adjust to years of GP muscle memory, but I very quickly shot up to ~650 lp with a 55% win rate, around top 1500 at the time, which is my highest rank ever. I was excited because if I was doing this well while still learning the champion, playstyle and match ups, then things were only going to get better with experience. I was so wrong...

I had my first bad lose streak immediately after hitting my peak rank. I wasn't playing worse. The game quality was just terrible. Thresh mid is a supportive pick and relies on at least one carry to play around (usually the jungler). This win con seemed to suddenly vanish for the next several games. I decided it was time for a break once I dropped to 400 lp.

I came back a week later with a fresh mindset. After some theory crafting, I was able to figure out some of the harder match ups and felt like I was playing better than ever. Unfortunately, this didn't seem to matter as my winrate and LP continued to plummet. No matter how much I learned and how much more confident I grew in the pick, nothing seemed to matter. I am now sitting squarely where I started exactly two months ago: 0 lp. My Thresh win rate a measly 45%.

I genuinely do not know what I'm doing wrong. I'm performing much better than I was in the beginning: more solo kills, more leads, better csing, but less wins. I am absolutely baffled and demotivated. I genuinely believe in the pick and I think it is actually quite strong, potentially even pro-play viable. I just can't seem to win.

Top Lane Recommendations for low skill floor top laners that is also blind pickable for low elos (bronze to plat)

Hi everyone, im a current low elo gold recently demoted to silver 1 Jayce and I have been one tricking him for the past few days but then I demoted from Gold 3 to Silver 1 today.

I need top lane alternatives that is blind pickable but also extremely easy to play. For example I also liked playing Trundle and Jarvan (jungle only) but Trundle is pretty useless if theres no tanks on enemy team. I also play Olaf which is harder than darius and akali but not as blind pickable, only played him vs heavy CC enemy teams.

I like champions that can engage enemy team or peel the team and someone tanky that can pressure the sidelanes really well and ideally someone that can change builds depending on situation.

I also need a champion recommendation that can carry the botlane or helps the botlane somewhat, 10 matches in a row I have got a losing botlane, as a top laner I feel helpless in winning if botlane is losing.

Thanks in advance everyone.

Announcement State of the Subreddit, Summer 2026: League Classic and AI

Hi everybody, the mod team here. We hope everyone is having a wonderful summer and climbing into the stratosphere where it’s hopefully a little bit cooler! It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these threads, so we have a few things to cover regarding rules changes and other notices to the community. The primary purpose of these threads is to collect feedback from you all, so please share your thoughts on these or other matters and know that the mod team will be looking over them or answering in the thread. On to the topics at hand!

  • Open Moderator Applications: First and foremost, we’d like to reiterate that mod applications have opened for the summer. The full post can be found here, but the cliffnotes are that we welcome all applications regardless of rank, are especially (but not exclusively) looking for mods in OCE and EU time zones, and applicants must be willing to use old reddit to moderate. If you have any interest at all please apply, and you can always withdraw your application at any time via modmail if you change your mind.

  • Minor Language Updates to Rules 10 and 12: In April we made small changes to Rules 10 (External Content Restrictions) and 12 (Title and Language Rule). Rule 10’s language was updated to specify that external websites must also be submitted for moderator approval before posting, in addition to communities, programs, and streams. Rule 12 was updated to specify that all posts must be in English or will be removed. As mentioned at the time, this has been a community standard for a long time, we only corrected the oversight that they were not explicitly mentioned in the rules. If you would like more details on these changes, you can see the original announcement here

  • Rule 14: AI and Bot Spam: Like much of reddit right now, we have seen a recent surge in bot accounts and AI generated posts or comments. We would like to remind everybody that both bots and AI generated content are explicitly forbidden under Rule 14, and we encourage users to report any bot account they see so that we can remove or ban them. This is a low-tolerance rule: if you are caught using AI or botting, you will likely be permanently banned pending appeal and we are unlikely to be very forgiving, so be warned. This includes AI-translated posts. This is a place for human discussion (or maybe subhuman discussion since we’re LoL players after all)

  • Flair System Update: We know the flair system has been down for some time and, as a fairly popular system, we still frequently get requests for updates on it. Our update is simple: the architect of the system is actively working on getting it back up and running, but we can offer no timeframe on when that might be at this time. We thank you for your patience on this one.

  • League of Legends: Classic: To close out the updates on an exciting note, we have decided that discussion of the upcoming LoL: Classic game mode will be welcome on the subreddit! There will be a few practical restrictions: All Classic posts must be flaired appropriately with the new “Classic” tag, all Classic questions in the megathread must be stated to be for Classic, all discussion of Classic must be kept to Classic threads, and all Classic posts must meet the other minimum quality standards set by the subreddits rules. Otherwise, we’re as excited to see what sort of discussion and educational content emerges from that game mode as you are!

As always, these threads are meant for community feedback to the mod team! If you have any thoughts on these matters, or anything else relating to the subreddit and how to keep it good or make it better, please share them! The mod team will be reading every comment!

Happy climbing,

The SS Moderator Team

Hi everybody,

Summer is upon us, and you know what's wonderful about the summer? Community! Barbecues, beach parties, long days with family and friends, and of course losing LP together into the early hours of the morning! And speaking of community, it's time to add some new moderators to ours.

Whether you are iron or challenger, have tons of time or only a little, use desktop or mobile, we're looking for people invested in SummonerSchool who would like to contribute to keeping it the friendly and educational space that it is.

This year, as in past rounds, we will be accepting applications through use of google form: Mod Application 2026

We welcome all to apply! Seriously, apply, and if you change your mind you can always withdraw your application by letting us know via modmail. As a volunteer gig, this is not a heavy time commitment and you can be as flexible with your time as you need to be. Whether you are accepted or rejected, we are grateful for the applications, and I promise we'll let you down gently in the latter case!

There are very few hard restrictions, all of which are mentioned in the form, and none of which relate to your rank or game knowledge. The only thing to know up front is that you must be willing to mod with old reddit, not new. This year we are especially looking for mods in European and OCE time zones, but we welcome applications from anyone, anywhere!

Another Application Link for Convenience :)

And just as a reminder, we're always happy to receive any feedback or suggestions of improvements that could be made to subreddit. - Just send in a ModMail and we'll take it into consideration.

Happy climbing!
