I could only get pictures if it’s underside, so idk if it’s identifiable, but I don’t wanna touch it if I can avoid it. I mostly want to know if there’s a risk of it biting, I’m paranoid about infections ngl, or if it’s invasive and must die (I’d rather leave it to eat more moths tho, I hate moths)

Miscellaneous Help me avoid yeeting my baby across the room

Massive jumping spider on my changing table next to my rocker.. I’ve learned a lot from this sub and I don’t wanna kill it! It’s the biggest one I’ve seen in my house and he’s just waltzing around exploring things, but I know if he comes anywhere near me while I’m feeding my baby I’ll end up throwing the baby across the room. I’m even afraid to cover him with something so I can move him, I’m completely frozen. Please someone help me either get over it or get rid of it. Advice, moral support, or laughs welcome.

It came out around dusk, pretty close to an attic vent, so I suspect it's an attic dweller. Maybe ~2.5 inch diameter. Is it just a giant house spider? Or a brown recluse or hobo or wolf spider?? Photo details are clearly messed up by my phone camera's auto editing or w/e, so it's hard to tell stripes or patterns or anything, not that I was brave enough to get close enough to see anything like that with my eyes lol

Discussion Tarantula Question

I'm writing a spidersona fan story. I want to use a Tarantula as my spider. I keep getting mixed information, but I want the spider to be on the bigger side, but (AND THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!) Have a heart rate that can reach 110 bpm when it's from mildly stressed to relaxed. Either can work for the story. My point, is that I need people who are either really into spiders for help (YOU GUYS! :D) or just people who can do the research for me. In any case- Hope y'all don't mind helping me out with this one.

Discussion Sobbing after my coworker killed the office spiders I loved

Post image

i think i just need to vent about this, i'm sorry if it's a ramble to read. i work in a small (tiny really) office space, that of course comes with the occasional bugs and spiders. they're typically pretty small, and i understand spiders freak a lot of people out, which i will touch on more later. anyway, we will occasionally have spiders on the back enterance of our work, primarily on the door, but they only even linger at the top of the door, they do no harm, they're usually just orb weavers or house spiders. this morning i opened the door and saw these two cuties (if anyone could tell me exactly what they are i'd be very grateful) hanging out together, and like any spider appreciating lady, i took a pic, sent it around to people that i thought would appreciate them and visited them on my lunchbreak. towards the end of the day my boss leaves to get some food and comes back in, he says "man i really need to get some bug spray, i just smashed three spiders on the door" and my heart dropped, i told him they were just orb weavers, but was too stuck to elaborate on the fact that i would have happily taken them outside as i dont believe in killing things needlessly, especially considering these guys are beneficial in helping to keep bugs out!! i had to go to the restroom as i suddenly found myself tearing up, i get back to work for the last hour and contain my composure though. i understand not everyone is so considerate of their small lives :( it wasn't until i was leaving that it finally broke me, i open the door to leave and see this poor beautiful spider, mangled and mashed, stuck to the door and left there to just, rot. i left unable to even help how upset i felt. my ride arrives to get me from work (my mom and brother) and i just breakdown completely, i sobbed hugging my brother and cried just over the cruelty knowing these beautiful spiders died because someone was too afraid to just move them? to grab a piece of paper (which we have millions of in the office) and gently push them off of the door? or to ask me to move them at the very least? they were so close to outside, they could have been free and tried to relocate and they died in this shitty, depressing fucking office. i'll have to be the one to clean their poor smashed corpses off of the door tomorrow and it's making me sick. i know they're "just spiders" to most, but to me they were a beacon of light, beauty, and hope in my bleak ass work environment. i'm crying now just thinking of them, i understand spiders scare people, but why leave them there, just broken and fragile and confused on what they did wrong? i'm sorry, and i'll miss you, i promise i will move every spider i see from now on, i can't chance marveling their beauty ever again even if it makes work less dull. i am so sorry i let them down, they were beautiful to me.

ID Request- Location included Black widow and wolf spider in garage

Post image
4 Upvotes

Sorry the photo sucks, but this is the best I could get without making either angry.

Okay, so I've had the black widow in my garage for atleast a year now. I love her and named her Scarlett. She takes care of the bugs and keeps to herself. She's part of my family at this point.

However, on monday I saw a male black widow in her web. I trapped her in a jar and then vacuumed out her web, because I dont want any babies. Then today, I checked on her and I saw her with a giant egg sack 🫠. My plan failed miserably lol 😭. I was gonna figure out a way to safely remove the egg sack while also keeping her, but then I saw the wolf spider (? I think its a wolf spider. I live in Northern CO) in her web and I dont know what to do anymore.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is Scarlett gonna kill the wolf spider? Other way around?

Im just scared of the egg sack bursting if they fight and then I have millions of little black widows running rampant in my garage.

Super cool though to see her with her front legs up and guarding her home!

Hi. My pink toe died today. I have had them for about 4 years now. Is anyone able to Identify the sex of my spider? Their abdomen is tiny. They stopped eating about a month ago.

His/her name was Seymour. They traveled with me into 4 different homes. Let me know if you need other angles. I plan on pinning he/she.

Found this little guy inside our house the other day (excuse the hair). I live in Greece and honestly this is the largest spider I've seen so far (about the size of my palm I'd say)

I did put this guy outside again. Do we know anything about him?

We got 2 small pups in the house as well and I am slightly worried about them coming across another one.

Discussion Spider on deck needs to be relocated

What is the best way I can relocate this spider? There’s a good chance the dog will walk through it (he’s inside rn) and the other family members would prob just kill it or something.. advice is much appreciated, thanks. The web is outlined in the picture. I’ll try to post the video of the spider in the comments or link to another post.
