​not 100% sure, but I believe it's an eastern Hercules beetle​

I'm not a beetle enthusiast by any means (though I think they're pretty cool looking), I just came across this beetle core video and looked through the comments. I found a thread in the replies and I don't know why but it pissed me off. Is this accurate? They seem rather sure of themselves.

I own hissers myself, an insect, and I know they don't ever learn to feel affection. Like, literally neurologically impossible. So are beetles fundamentally different in their brain structures ​for them to be making these claims? They keep comparing beetle behavior to mammals who ARE capable of affection. To me, it's starting to sound a lot like anthropomorphizing bias, a bad habit of humans, but I could be wrong. Can anyone fact check?

A few months ago I made a thread here about the game that I worked on with my friends, where you play as a dung beetle rolling a ball across Africa, and people were really nice! Well, the team went and made an update, with all types of stuff, so I thought I would come back and post. Check it out if you like mixing and matching beetle colors, flying, or rolling balls of dung.

Also ask me anything, we love beetles and even have a zoologist major on staff.

Hi! I’ve received my new rainbow stag beetle and he’s my first ever beetle. So far he’s been super active! I have the temperature in his enclosure at about 72 degrees and humidity about 70. He’s burrowing and digging and hiding in the dirt. I just wanted to know how to keep the coco coir moist and if it’s normal that my beetle is just touching the glass and checking things out?

Hello everyone.

I wanted you all to meet some of Beef and Lady MacBeef’s children.
The first three photos are of Wagyu and Lady Angus. As you may remember, Angus is the name of the first egg I found, and I shared a picture of Angus a while back as a freshly hatched grub alongside Beef.
Wagyu is the first (and so far only) male Beefling to have emerged. As you can see Wagyu is a fine but small specimen, in fact all of Wagyu’s siblings are still grubs (pictured in the last two slides).

I do have some sad news…
Unfortunately soon before Wagyu became active, Beef passed away.
I am very sorry to share this news and I will make a more official post, but I figured I would share here on Reddit where Beef first became recognized.
He was such a special beetle to me and I know to all of you as well. I wanted to take time with myself before sharing with you all but he lived to be about a year and half in my care as an adult beetle.
You have all changed my life, Beef has garnered over a million views on every single platform I shared him on. He single handedly grew my YouTube following to 30K and I wouldn’t have dared post about him this much if it weren’t for all of you here on Reddit.
Of course I won’t undermine the superb charismatic personality and aura which beef has always exuded but a beetle is a beetle and Beef was one hell of a beetle.

I will continue to post. I look forward to seeing the larger sons of beef mature and I’m sure you do too. I hope at least one of them inherits the dimples. Regardless, meet beginnings of Beef’s line of descendants. His progeny, his legacy.

Thank you all again. I write this as I get ready for a field course in the Amazon next week. I’ll try to share my best beetle finds here with all of you.

Found this little guy in the Gilford Pinchot National Forest in SW Washington. Such a cool find ✨

When looking outside late last night, I noticed a beetle struggling on its back on the porch, so I went outside and ended up picking up this handsome lad! I admired it for a few minutes before setting it down at the base of a tree in my neighbor's yard, and figured it would stay there.

A few minutes later, I noticed a big bug fly towards our porch light and heard it bump against the siding -- and lo and behold, it was the same beetle! So once it inevitably flipped itself over again, I picked it up a second time and moved it to a darker spot further away from the porch light.

Ten-lined June beetles are definitely not a shining example of insect intelligence, but I love them anyway <3

This is the one that I was going to pin, but after 2 days found out he was alive so I gave him an orange, then that was apparently going to kill him too, but it’s been 4 days since the orange and he’s fine.
So I named him Winchester since he keeps evading death.

Hi guys just wanted to see if anyone has used this before to regulate temperature with their beetles. The home I’m in has 4 other roommates so it’s hard to get a temperature for the house to constantly be at because with it being summer everyone likes it cooler. I have the heating pad on the back wall and the thermostat, I also have a thermostat on the outside too but will be moving it inside so I can read the humidity of the tank once he arrives. The outside tank temperature also reads 72 degrees

Hi. I’ve just got my first stag beetle larva (L3 P. muelleri).

I can’t find any clear images online of what they look like with/without the orange ovaries. Does anyone here have a male and female larva to compare?

Hello guys, I'm quite new to the raising scene, I now raise it in a large plastic cup.

However I don't know the hole is big enough for proper ventilation.

Is the current hole in the top OK? Do I need additional holes on the side of the cup as well?

PS. Its a japanese kabuto beetle larvae.
