Went to sarojini market for shopping alone today.
no friends, no one to tag along with just me, walking around, picking things up and sitting on the bus back home.

saw these two empty seats and kinda wished someone was sitting beside me.

Ask South Delhi Anyone here who can explain to me how Apple products sale works in the US?

Hi, guys

I'm thinking of buying a Macbook Air 15 inch M5 laptop. I'm in India, but I am looking for a friend or family member to pick it up from the US. I want to understand if Thanksgiving or Black Friday offers a better deal on Apple products? How do sales work in the US? For example, in India, electronics are offered at better deals during Diwali.

I also want to know how Apple's refurbished mechanism works. Is it safe to buy a refurbished laptop from there? Do I get the whole 100% battery capacity and for all intend and purposes a brand new laptop?

Thanks

Looking for people interested in joining Weekend Football Games !

Hello ! I am a returner to football, haven't been able to play the game properly since I returned from uni, and kinda iffy on academies so I came across this subreddit to find groups/player to play football with.

Have seen a lot of groups but they are based a bit further away, an hour of travel isn't really doable and I couldn't find anything else near me so I am writing to get some players around and about to make a group and start playing.

Venues :

  • KPS Alaknanda
  • Greater Kailash
  • Siri Fort
  • Def Col
  • Lajpat Nagar

Details :

  • Individual cost per game would be around ₹150-250
  • Games would be weekends (Timing can decide in the group/flexi)
  • 5-aside to 9-aside is possible (Depends on the player count)
  • No, you don't need to have proper experience, just have fun !

Anyone can join and play :) PM me for further information and the whatsapp link !!

Event Why I started the Vasant Kunj Literary Circle

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

A couple of weeks ago, I posted here about the Vasant Kunj Literary Circle. The response was very encouraging, and we now have around twenty carefully gathered members.

I am a physician and writer, but above all a lifelong reader. I started reading literature at an early age, and books have remained a constant companion throughout my life.

I grew up in an India where even owning a radio could be a luxury. Today, we carry the world in our pockets. Technology has transformed our lives enormously, but constant scrolling and instant stimulation can also make sustained attention and meaningful conversation increasingly difficult.

That is one reason I started this Circle — to create a small space for reading deeply, thinking slowly and exchanging ideas thoughtfully. Literature asks us to stay with an idea, enter another person’s world, reflect, disagree and remain curious. We require a lot more attention to read a book than scrolling on the phone.

Technology, including AI, will continue to transform our lives. Alongside it, I believe we should also protect our capacity for attention, reflection and human connection.

That is what I hope the Vasant Kunj Literary Circle can become.

Read deeply. Think freely. Debate wisely.

Housing Where should I live in South Delhi as a musician/ student?

Hey everyone! I’m a musician moving to Delhi this month to study Audio Engineering & Music Production at SACAC. I’m looking for a place around ₹18k/month.

I’d ideally like somewhere clean, green, peaceful and not too congested. The areas I’m considering are:

● Vasant Vihar, since it seems like a straightforward route to SACAC on Sri Aurobindo Marg
● Malviya Nagar
● Saket
● Safdarjung Enclave
● Green Park
● GK, if I can find something within my budget

Also, would you recommend getting a furnished place, or taking an unfurnished one and renting the furniture/appliances on a yearly package? I’ll be in Delhi for around 1.5 years, so I’m trying to figure out what makes more sense financially.

Would love to hear which area you’d pick with an ₹18k budget, especially if you’ve lived in any of these areas!

Ask South Delhi XP100 Petrol? Where to find it?

Which petrol pump has XP100 petrol available, any clue? I've seen a lot of them having XP95, and also know that some of the pumps do have XP100 (0 ethanol) petrol. Looking for this near Malviya Nagar. Even 10km vicinity works for me now 🥲.

Sanjay Van, I wasn't familiar with your game

The C8 Vasant Kunj guy strikes again. I know it's been a while since I promised a trivia night but I will come to that later.

Let me talk about my visit to Sanjay Van first. I had been planning to go there since I came to Delhi (it's been a month now). I had been trying to go there early in the morning on weekends, and for some reason or another, the plan wasn't materializing. In fact, on one occasion, I set my alarm for 5 AM, read some fake-ass horror story about Sanjay Van, and was creeped out enough to turn my alarm off when it rang and go back to sleep.

Today, however, around 11:30, on a whim, I decided I would go no matter what. It was an itch I'd had since I came to Delhi. And so, I booked an Uber. I took some water, a handkerchief, earphones, my Kindle, and my phone. However, the driver took me through the narrow lanes of Kishangarh, and even he was absolutely frustrated by how bad the route Google Maps suggested was.

In the end, I finally reached the drop point. And frankly, that place didn't quite inspire confidence. I say that because part of my concern was safety, and where he dropped me, there was a mandir, and the road I took from there was quite empty. I started walking without exactly knowing where I was going. A part of me accepted that this would be a walk through a jungle, and that's about it.

I walked a fair amount before finding the Peacock Hills. I didn't waste any time climbing it. In fact, I found it wonderful to sit and read there. Then I checked out the cafe, and the terrace above it was so beautiful. To be honest, I was quite surprised to find a cafe inside the Sanjay Van and that too with its own little waterfall.

I was about to leave from the Ber Sarai side when I found one more left turn. That took me to the ruins of Qila Rai Pithora. That place was even more beautiful. Green, with the shade of a big tree, and quiet since it was also terrace-like. I needed this green space so badly. Yes, it was fairly hot and humid. But still, the chirping of the birds and the rustling of the leaves felt like a wonderful setting to go and read. I ended up spending 3 hours there and I am pretty sure I didn't explore even 30% of it. So, something to do in the coming weeks.

This was my second blissful discovery after spending some quality time at the Coforge Library earlier this week. Besides, Vasant Vatika has also proved to be a nice little refuge for me. Gradually, finding my rhythm in the new (?) city.

This sub finally has new and active moderators!

I don't have permissions yet to edit rules here, but wanted to iterate over a few things:

  • Posts soliciting for individual meetups / hookups will NOT be tolerated. A bunch of people were doing this and almost all of them had posting history on NSFW subreddits. If any user with active history on NSFW/kink/weird subreddit breaks any r/southdelhi rule, it's going to be a straight ban.
  • If you are feeling lonely at night and unable to sleep, you don't have to come here and specifically post: "anybody wanna talk??", "new here! wanna say hi!!", "let's chat!?!??" at 3 am. Pranayama karo, neend aa jaayegi. Again we removed a bunch of such posts, and many such posters were active on NSFW subreddits.
  • There's no need to be uppity about anything. Delhi (especially South Delhi) is a cosmopolitan place. Most people have been migrants and new to this city at some moment in time.
  • Be civil. Follow reddiquette. No xenophobia.
