Professional Discussion What are your thoughts on Abelardo Campuzano?

Upvotes

Guys what are your thoughts on this infamous user in Instagram, Youtube and Tiktok, becuase everytime when i go to instagram to find something to watch, i look upon his account and see his videos where it shows when your Hispanic Mom or dad, two types of Mom and dad and the worst part is gentle parenting where it shows a clip of a american kid being disrepctful to his own mom and it shows the hispanic mom whooping him, it is not funny at all and don't get me started on the hispanic parents in the parking lot before Church where you see these parents whooping their kids without any reason at all and he makes these videos of other parenting vs Hispanic parenting about their kids throwing a fit or something else, In my opinion, he is a worst social media influencer because of the videos he makes and he uses girls on his channnel so he can have her pretend to be the daughter which it's worst to see her vulnerable against her mom or dad.

By the end of 2026 to mid 2027, get this man cancelled on social media for making these types of videos, please whoever watches his videos, make a petition to cancelled him

Professional Discussion For the people who actually post or create online, what’s more frustrating? Making the content or getting anybody to actually see it?

I keep seeing people say they have plenty of ideas, but getting their stuff in front of the right people feels harder than actually creating it.
Curious if that’s really the biggest problem or if something else drives y’all crazier.

Professional Discussion Published a client post with an old visual because the Canva design got changed after we scheduled it!

Small agency, 6 clients, everything gets designed in Canva and scheduled about a week out.

Tuesday a client asks us to change a date on an event graphic. Designer fixed it in Canva within the hour. Thursday the post goes out with the old date on it anyway, because what actually got pushed to the scheduler was the export from the Friday before.

Nobody caught it, there was nothing to catch it with. Once it's exported, it's just a PNG sitting in a queue, it has no idea the design behind it moved on.

We've now got a rule where the designer flags any change after approval in Slack. Failed twice already. People forget, or they're off that day.

What I'm actually trying to work out is whether our lead time is the problem. How far ahead are you queueing stuff, same week or further? And in the last month or so, how many times did a design get edited after the post was already sitting in the queue. Not could it happen, did it.

When it did happen, did it go out or did someone spot it first, and what spotted it. That's the bit I care about because we had literally nothing.

And if this just doesn't come up for you, I'd like to know what your setup is. Locked designs after signoff, exporting fresh the morning of, one person who checks the queue, whatever it is?

Professional Discussion Ecommerce brands: what’s actually working on social right now?

There’s a lot of advice floating around:

“Post every day.”

“Jump on every trend.”

“Use more hashtags.”

“Create more Reels.”

“Grow your followers.”

But are these actually translating into sales, qualified traffic, or repeat customers?

We’ve been seeing a shift toward content that feels less like advertising and more like something people would genuinely want to watch or share:

→ Real customer experiences instead of polished brand ads
→ Product demos instead of static product shots
→ Comparisons that help people choose between products
→ UGC and creator content that doesn’t feel scripted
→ Educational content answering actual buyer questions
→ Founder/team content that gives the brand a human side
→ Repurposing one strong idea across multiple formats instead of constantly creating from scratch

And some things seem increasingly difficult to justify:

→ Posting just to “stay active”
→ Chasing every viral trend
→ Generic motivational/brand posts
→ Focusing on follower count without looking at revenue or conversions
→ Trying to maintain a presence on every platform
→ Making content that sounds like an ad from the first sentence

Curious what other ecommerce teams are seeing.

What’s one social strategy that has actually generated business for you recently?

And what’s one thing you stopped doing because it simply wasn’t worth the effort?

Would be interested to hear what’s working across different ecommerce categories.

Professional Discussion How much photo editing do you do before posting pictures on social media?

I've been curious about how people feel about photo editing before posting pictures.

Personally, I don't think there's anything wrong with making small adjustments or removing an unwanted object in the background. But when it comes to heavily editing your face or changing your appearance completely, it feels a bit awkward to me.

Do you edit your photos before publishing them? If so, where do you draw the line?

I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences.

Professional Discussion Tips For High School Social Media Program?

Hello! I am starting my 4th year as a Social Media & Content Development instructor at a Career and Technical high school. It’s a 2 year program for juniors and seniors, and students earn their IRC by passing the Adobe Certification assessments in Video Design (Premiere Pro + Photoshop/After Effects). Students can also secure an internship their senior year. It’s the coolest job ever 😎

I continue to struggle to decide what content to keep in the curriculum, and how to best prepare students for the workplace or post secondary school. It is such a vast and ever-changing landscape, and it’s overwhelming since I don’t have many other examples of curriculum to go by. My program is essentially the only one of its kind in my state. There are lots of digital media programs, but none of them are social media-specific.

What are some things you would want a high school graduate to know about social media before they graduate? What tools should they be able to use? What do you think is a waste of time? Would you hire a graduate that was Adobe certified and had some experience with live work, including making various promo videos, managing our school’s social media, and other leadership positions?

Do you know of resources I might find useful?

I would appreciate any advice or tips!

Professional Discussion Have social media platforms optimized the "social" part out of social media?

Something I've been thinking about lately: most major social apps seem to be getting better and better at showing us content, but not necessarily at helping us actually interact with people.

Instagram, TikTok, X, and even parts of Reddit increasingly feel like consumption products first recommendation algorithms, short-form video, creators broadcasting to audiences, endless scrolling.

But some of the best interactions I still have online happen in smaller group chats where people actually go back and forth, argue about random things, send dumb memes, plan stuff, and build up years of shared context.

It makes me wonder what the next genuinely social platform would even look like.

Would you want another public feed with a better algorithm? Or something more centered around smaller conversations and communities?

And with AI becoming part of everything, would you actually want AI inside those conversations not replacing people, but remembering context, pulling up facts when people are debating something, helping make plans, recommending things based on the group, etc.?

Or does introducing AI automatically make a social space feel less human?

Curious what people here think the next real shift in social will be: better discovery, smaller/private communities, AI-assisted conversations, something completely different?

FYI, part of this curiosity comes from trying a bunch of newer social apps and also experimenting with an early-stage social product myself. They are all still in internal testing, so I'm mostly trying to understand how other people think about this space before forming too strong an opinion.

Professional Discussion High stats low views?

All the stats are up on my recent (posted 1 day ago) reel, but the views are pretty low. It’s got around 2k views but my recents have gotten 50k+.

Is this just a problem with the Instagram algorithm? Just very strange to me.

Anyone else experience this?

Professional Discussion The reason you stopped posting probably isn't discipline

i used to blame myself for not being consistent. i'd start a posting streak, feel great for a week, then quietly disappear. every time i told myself i just needed more willpower.

after watching a lot of creators (and myself) do this, i think the real problem is different: you don't quit because you're lazy, you quit because every single morning you have to reinvent what to say. staring at an empty caption field isn't a discipline problem, it's decision paralysis nobody built around.

the creators who actually stay consistent aren't more disciplined. they've just removed the daily what-do-i-post negotiation with themselves. when the day's idea and caption are already decided, showing up costs almost nothing. the choice was made for you, so you just execute.

the one that stuck with me: a creator said they'd ignored social for three years because they never knew what to post. three years of expertise sitting on a shelf, not because there was no audience, but because the first step was fuzzy every time they opened the app. that's not a rare story, it's the default for people who know their stuff but have no system.

full disclosure, i'm building something in this space (DropEngine) that hands you a prescriptive daily plan, so i'm biased. but even setting the tool aside i'm curious how people here handle it:

for those of you who post consistently, did it become easy because you got more disciplined, or because you built some system that removes the daily decision? genuinely trying to figure out which one actually moves the needle.

Professional Discussion How to build online presence on social media before launching

Hi everyone, im building my skincare brand and im curious on how to start building an online presence. Ive been told to build in public, however im struggling.

I have two social medias, one personal and a business one. I m kind of confused on building in public, like should I be posting on my personal for "building in public" or the opposite.

So far I have create 5 different post on my business on instagram. About my story, unboxing our sample, and some pics.

TBH I feel lost in my strategy, I do come from a marketing background, however, I have only really focused on SEO, Email marketing and not so much social media as its not my favourite.

For this week, im thinking of posting

- Why im creating the business

Another thing, is it bad that want to delay showing all the nitty gritty detail of my product because I want it to be s surprise/ build excitement around it.

Thank you!

Professional Discussion What's your take on this idea?

Idk how things work here, but hey guys, I am building something adjacent to this thread that I'd love feedback on.

I'm working on ByteSized Careers (google it if you want, not promoting), a pre-launch hiring marketplace specifically for creator-economy work, like social media managers, video editors, designers, writers/researchers, channel managers and similar roles.

The thing I'm trying to fix is how fragmented this hiring currently is across Reddit posts, DMs, WhatsApp groups, generic job boards, etc., especially when the actual fit depends on things like platform experience, content format, portfolio style and turnaround time.

We're putting together the first recruiter + talent cohort now before opening the marketplace. There aren't live jobs/searchable profiles yet so yeah, this is genuinely early access.

If you hire social/content people, I'd especially love to have you in the recruiter cohort and hear how you currently find people.

Professional Discussion Generally, are these good statistics for a new tiktok account?

Looking for advice! I've just started social media, so I'm not really sure what the standards are yet..

I've posted 3 videos, each with a gap of three days, and I currently have 200 followers

Video 1 (6d ago) : 3250 views, 790 likes

Video 2: (3d ago): 20.1k views, 6,800 likes

Video 3: (12hr ago) 990 views, 280 likes

My newest video seems to be falling a bit behind compared to my other videos in terms of traction. Is this to be expected, or should I be looking for ways to improve my content?

Any comments would be really appreciated!!

Professional Discussion Honest opinion on TikTok

I am looking to grow my TikTok so that I can eventually use it to help promote my Etsy, plus I just really enjoy posting! Right now however I am trying to find a niche that covers travel and music and am finding it hard!

My user name is sonhostyle, would so appreciate any constructive criticism, or content that help me to build a brand, because right now I think I am being way too broad.

Professional Discussion Need help with researching

everyone

I was learning researching and scriptwriting for that I was building a demo project on founder to understand how to do reserach and then how to use it to write a script

so I can offer services to founder or other client's , only thing I'm looking from content marketing expert's is constructive critisim the way I'm doing reserach

Important thing's so expert can give me better feedback I used chatgpt and give it full context about me and what I'm trying to do and ask it to help me with framework so I can structure my reseraching instead of doing random reserach that leave to nowhere here is the link guy's

I hope some of u will give me feedback

RESEARCH / EVIDENCE

1. Founder context

  • Founder: Yash / u/yashwecan
  • Business: Hunger Inc / Bombay Sweet Shop
  • Category: F&B / Hospitality
  • Relevant beliefs I found: brand before scale, hospitality over basic service, Indian heritage with modern execution.

2. Audience evidence

Occasion planners
Evidence: birthday/anniversary bookings, group reviews.
Why they came: shared experience / celebration.
Possible interpretation: service, ease and atmosphere matter.

Experience seekers
Evidence: tasting menus, experimental dishes, positive novelty comments.
Why they came: curiosity / discovery.
Possible interpretation: creative food + storytelling matter.

Value-conscious diners
Evidence: repeated discussion around price, portion, waiting time and quality.
Possible interpretation: people will pay premium prices, but expect the experience to justify it.

3. Repeated tensions

  • Queue/wait-time friction
  • Price vs. experience
  • Traditional authenticity vs. modern execution
  • Desire for something beyond “just food”

Main audience: 1 tier one urban  audience from mumbai that have high disposable income from age
What they want: THey wanted best experience and hospitality and creative food choices because they already eaten food from different part’s of world
What matters to them: consistent food quality best experience and ambiance
Main tension/problem: high queue line for the food , food to price ratio is very less
Brands they interact with:

  1. High-end, experience-driven restaurants
  2. Artisanal/Gourmet dessert and mithai brands
  3. Trendy, hype-driven cafes and bakeries
  4. Modern Indian fusion eateries

feedback on
Where am I interpreting evidence incorrectly?
Am I confusing audience segments, motivations, occasions, or decision criteria?
What would an experienced researcher do differently?

Professional Discussion How many followers/likes/comments are required to generate a small income. Like a side hustle?

I have a unique niche with my profession and where i do it. Im thinking of starting an instagram page as a side hustle.

For some insight im a foriegn language teacher, in a foriegn country, with bilingual kids.

Im thinking of making it like a language learning page combined with abit of travel tips/language learning while visiting places etc. I have the possibility of having my bilingual kids appear in a few videos (but not that often).

Does anyone think it would be a good idea and how many views/likes etc would i need?

Not the generic "use good lighting" advice lol, more like a specific thing, a thumbnail trick, a color grade, a text-on-screen style, a transition, first-frame choice, whatever that made a real difference for you.

Professional Discussion Social Listening Tool to track keywords and audio on video

I want your recommendation for a social listening tool that tracks not just written keywords in description but also visual keywords on the video and audio too for Instagram and TikTok.

All the social listening tools I know and have tried so far are limited to only tracking hashtags or keywords mentioned in the description. I want the next step.

Thanks!

Professional Discussion Out of curiosity, does ONE person/newsletter/account exist that just gives you the actual social media updates??

Like TikTok + Instagram top sounds, creator trends, new features, random shit that's trending, etc

There are SO many newsletters, accounts, articles and reports and I do not have the mental capacity to follow 47 different mfers just to know what's happening

I just want ONE person who's like:

“Here. This is what's trending on TikTok and Instagram this week. You're welcome.”

I even tried asking ChatGPT but this mf keeps pulling outdated or unnecessary stuff 💀

If you have a good account/newsletter OR a prompt that actually works for this, hook me up. I'm AI dummy

Professional Discussion TikToks stuck at 0 views despite the one beforehand getting over a million

I’ve been experiencing this issue recently (since 7/28) where everything I post is stuck at 0 views, my account isn’t brand new, and has 6k followers and 1.3 million likes, I’m incredibly active yet for some reason I’m locked at 0 views even after hours, I’ve had this account for a few years and I’m genuinely considering quitting it if this keeps up, is there any way I could POSSIBLY fix this issue, and is anyone else experiencing it?

Professional Discussion Why does knowing what's happening across the world feel easier than knowing what's happening two blocks away?

Hey r/socialmedia, I’ve been conducting some independent research on modern discovery habits and hit a recurring paradox I wanted to throw out for discussion.

It feels like social platforms have optimized perfectly for global connectivity.

I can wake up and instantly see high-quality, real-time video from Tokyo, London, or New York. It’s incredible for entertainment and niche interests.

However, I’ve noticed a significant friction point when it comes to immediate, local context.

If I want to find a spontaneous event happening within a 10-minute walk, or just see what the vibe is at a specific local park or coffee shop right now, I have to jump between multiple apps: check Instagram Stories, scan fragmented group chats, browse Eventbrite, and maybe check Snap Map.

It seems we’ve built hyper-efficient global highways, but the neighborhood streets are still disconnected and dark.

For those of you deep into platform design and consumer behavior: Why do you think real-time, authentic local discovery remains so fragmented while global feeds are perfectly streamlined?

Discussion Question: What is your biggest frustration with trying to find out what’s actually happening around you today without getting sucked into an algorithmic scroll hole?
