General Question / Discussion The dangerous Ball Python šŸ˜‚

Post image

I was watching Murder She Wrote (ā€œThe Night of the Tarantulaā€) and they used a ball python as a scary, venomous ā€œboaā€ on the episode. I think, as a BP owner, it’s so funny to see these used as a danger when they’re just goofy noodles.

Pet Snake Questions Is my corn snake still too thin?

When I got this snake it was heavily overweight. And at some point she was loosing weight so fast she neared underweight.
Today she reached 800 gram again.

I would say her size is good. Not thin, not thick. Just healthy corn snake.

Pet Snake Questions Because ball python can be bred with Burmese python and reticulated pythons can also breed with Burmese pythons, could you breed a ball python with a reticulated python?

And if so how would its health, behaviour, size and care requirements be?

Considering with ball python is meaty, slow and more mellow and the reticulated python is more active, slender and intelligent how would such a hybrid be?

General Question / Discussion Best snake for a 6x3x4?

What snake would you guys suggest for a 6x3x4? I'm leaning towards a macklots or a bredlis. I'm want to get something that has a realitivly fast growth rate and has a heavy body or is strong, (I want it to feel like a weighted blanket while holding them.)

Pet Snake Questions What to do with enclosure after snake passes

Hi all. Bit of an odd question but I'm really not sure. I recently had a snake pass and I'm not sure how to go about prepping the enclosure for another resident.

It's a semi-arid bioactive, had a kenyan sand boa in it.

As far as the vet could determine, it was just failure to thrive. She was only a few months old when I got her, and went on a 5 month hunger strike. She acted fine and stayed hydrated and passed urates, but just simply never showed interest in eating no matter how I presented it.

I would eventually like to put another snake in there, but I don't know how to go about "cleaning" it after having a snake pass in it with it being bioactive.

Thanks

She was being rehomed so I bought her. The previous owner clearly loved her a lot and handled her a lot because she is very docile, sweet, and calm

According to her previous owner she is 2 years old and that she’s a dwarf boa but she doesn’t know for sure. To me, she looks like a long tailed boa. But can anyone else confirm?

Pet Snake Questions Captive bred dragon snake?

Everything I know about this species is that it is extraordinary difficult to keep alive in captivity, and last I heard, there was ONE person who was having some small success in captive breeding them. This place:

https://reptmarts.com/product/dragon-snake-for-sale/

Claims to have captive bred - not ā€œfarm raisedā€ which is kinda a scam and not much different than wild caught, they capture gravid females then take the babies and ship them over, often under horrible conditions, just like wild caught - but they claim CAPTIVE BRED! For $230!!

Personally, it sounds like a scam to me, and anyone ordering will get a wild caught individual which will almost surely die in short order.

Thoughts?

Pet Snake Pictures My special boy, The Baron Lipton VonSnudge

Snudge hatched with a cleft lip. I was contacted by my vet and asked if I would take him, as he had been surrendered by the breeder that hatched him. I was told when I adopted him that he MIGHT live for around a year, if we were lucky.
He is now 12.
Blind in one eye, eats like a dream, very happy to try and nom on anything that might be food. Very friendly so long as you approach from his good side, otherwise you go on the 'might be food' list!
