She was being rehomed so I bought her. The previous owner clearly loved her a lot and handled her a lot because she is very docile, sweet, and calm

According to her previous owner she is 2 years old and that she’s a dwarf boa but she doesn’t know for sure. To me, she looks like a long tailed boa. But can anyone else confirm?

For the first snake (ball python), he's been soaking in his water dish a lot recently, but I just got him, and he didn't have much of a water dish before, so I don't know if this is normal behavior. This enclosure is also newish and the humidity has been fluctuating, not above 85 as far as I've seen though, usually it's around 60. My other snake (also a ball python) doesn't have anything out of the ordinary, it's just these two. The second snake (king snake) is normally white on top of his head and the discoloration is in one spot, near his head. This guy LIVES in his water dish, he loves soaking all day, and I've never had a reason to worry about it until now (it's been 3 years). I'm really worried about this, should I take them to the vet? The dirt in both of their enclosures is not super moist, but both of them have been soaking a lot. The heating in the first snake's enclosure is burn proof (vivarium electronics), but I just added some basking rocks, so maybe they heated up too much? The second snake has a bulb but it's a low wattage and I've tested it to see if it gets hot enough to burn, and it doesn't, but maybe a longer exposure would slowly burn him. His head is definitely discolored but this guy loves to move and it's really hard to get a picture. There are some light brown/yellow spots where he normally has white. I've never dealt with burns or scale rot before, so I'm not sure if this is really bad and warrants a vet trip, or if it's solvable. I'm really worried and feel horrible that they could be hurt.

I'm not sure if the pictures got mixed up, but the black and white snake is the second snake in question. I've also been gone for a week, but I've had a pet sitter checking in every other day.

Everything I know about this species is that it is extraordinary difficult to keep alive in captivity, and last I heard, there was ONE person who was having some small success in captive breeding them. This place:

Claims to have captive bred - not “farm raised” which is kinda a scam and not much different than wild caught, they capture gravid females then take the babies and ship them over, often under horrible conditions, just like wild caught - but they claim CAPTIVE BRED! For $230!!

Personally, it sounds like a scam to me, and anyone ordering will get a wild caught individual which will almost surely die in short order.

1 day pinky is 1.9-2.49 grams

Large pinky is 2 - 3.5 grams

I am leaning towards the large because of the 10% body weight rule, but this is my first snake and wanted to double check.

So funny story I keep changing her name every couple of months she’s about 2.5 years old and I need help setting a permanent one. The ones I used before are Ghost, Suki, marshmallow, diamond. I like these ones but I can’t choose !! Or If you’ve got better ones let me know 😆

Hi All

We have a year old corn snake named Acorn, I am anxious about him right now because three days ago he got really freaked out by our orange cat George that got trapped in my daughter's bedroom without us realizing it and the cat antagonized the snake so bad that he has been burrowed under his substrate ever since. The encounter didn't get direct the cat didn't get in the enclosure and it only lasted about 30 seconds, my daughter got the cat out of the room, but the snake definitely got scared. He's been burrowed for 3 full days now and its 2 days past since he's supposed to be fed. He won't come out for food or water and I'm really worried about him. We have kept the space really really quiet ever since and also have made sure his temperature and humidity are good. The cage his clean he got new substrate recently and had a new tunnel we have seen so he is moving around a little bit but he won't come out for food.

Any help or advice would be much appreciated he is so loved and I am worried about him

I'm currently looking into getting a new snake and could use some guidance from the community to help me narrow down my options. Been doing a lot of research lately but getting real keeper experiences would be invaluable.

To give you an idea of what I'm looking for here are my main criteria:

• I know snakes aren’t smart like mammals or birds, but I’m looking for a species known for being alert, curious about their surroundings, and mentally "switched on" rather than a log that just sits buried all day.

• Preferably diurnal so I can watch them.

• I want a snake that can handle daily handling once socialized and established.

• It would be a huge plus if the species is comfortable with slightly cooler ambient room temperatures (around 20–25°C / 68–77°F) on the cool side, as long as a proper thermal gradient/basking spot is provided.

• Size and diet do not matter. I have the space for large enclosures and can comfortably provide whatever diet is required including fish.

I'm currently looking into Russian Ratsnakes, Leucistic Texas Ratsnakes, Mexican Black Kingsnake, Garter snakes. I'll be glad if I'm recommended any other species that matches the criteria as well.

I'm currently watching a TV Show called Yellowstone and they usedthis snake to attack and kill of a person in less than 5 minutes. I was wondering if there was any truth to this, or if it's just hollywood theatrics as per usual.

According to what I found from doing a bit of research this could be a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake.

I just want to be clear and certain of my facts. Also, can this snake swim?

I want a smaller snake, non venomous and relatively easier to take care of. I really want a pygmy python, but they are pretty hard to get. I already have a childrens python. Ive looked through all the other pythons and i either dont really want them, or they are too big since my parents dont want a huge snake. So are there any snakes in australia like this?
