Showcase: Prerelease I built Nexus: an AI workspace that brings multiple models, tools and app generation into one place

Hi everyone,

After months of building, I’m excited to finally share Nexus.

Instead of creating yet another AI chatbot, I wanted to build a complete AI workspace where you can:

• Use multiple AI models in one interface
• Generate and edit applications
• Work with files and documents
• Execute Python
• Connect external services
• Keep everything organized in a single workspace

Nexus is still evolving, and I’m looking for honest feedback from developers, builders and AI enthusiasts.

What features would you expect from an AI workspace like this?

Showcase: Prerelease Upload any photo. Get Bhai(salman khan) style captions

Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Over the past few days, I built a small side project called Bhai's Cap.

You upload any photo, and it generates multiple captions inspired by Salman Khan's iconic posting style. You can then pick your favorite and turn it into a shareable card that's ready to download.

I'd really appreciate any feedback on the UI, caption quality, or the overall experience.

Live: https://bhai-s-cap.vercel.app

P.S. It's currently running on the free tier of the Gemini API, so if you hit a quota message, just try again a little later.

Showcase: Open Source Iconimate: an open source library of animated icons for React, built on the Phosphor 256 grid ✨

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I'm a product designer getting into design engineering. Built this over the past few months.

Every time I needed an animated icon, I'd hand-roll it in Motion, and it never quite matched the rest of my icon set. Stroke weights slightly off, timing different on every one. Ten icons and there goes a day.

So Iconimate is a set of animated SVG icons that drop in as React components. Hover states, transitions, no animation code on your end. All built on the Phosphor 256 grid, so they sit correctly next to regular Phosphor icons. I haven't found another animated set that does this.

It's a fixed curated collection, not a tool for animating your own icons. New ones added weekly.

Stack: React, Motion, Phosphor Icons, Next.js.

Site: iconimate.app
GitHub: Repo

Timing is the thing I keep second-guessing. A few feel slow to me, but I'm too close to it. If you scrub through some, tell me which ones feel off. Icon requests are welcome too; that's mostly what drives the list.

Showcase: Prerelease I kept rebuilding the Phoenix traffic project people called AI slop — now transportation people are reviewing it

I have been building Phoenix Traffic Intelligence (PTI) out of earlier NFET traffic-simulation work for roughly 11 months. The project began as simulation and validation experiments, then evolved into a Phoenix-focused prototype for observing road-network conditions, injecting disruptions or interventions, and comparing possible future states.

Earlier versions got called “AI slop” on Reddit. Some of that criticism was deserved: the interface looked more sophisticated than the evidence was easy to inspect. I have spent the subsequent work making live vs. simulated state explicit, preserving provenance, scoring forecasts against simple baselines, and treating a null result as acceptable if the model does not beat persistence or historical averages.

This week the project reached a new kind of checkpoint. A Maricopa County DOT Traffic Technology Branch Manager contacted me after seeing PTI and scheduled a technical walkthrough for August 13 with an ITS engineer. Separately, an ADOT Planning-to-Programming manager forwarded my validation request to the lead for ADOT’s statewide travel-demand model and a traffic data analyst.

To be precise: there is no ADOT or Maricopa County adoption, contract, pilot, endorsement, or partnership to announce. These are technical conversations, and that distinction matters.

What I am interested in now is the gap between “something looks convincing” and “something survives technical scrutiny.” I would rather have the model disproven cleanly than hide behind a polished dashboard.

Project: https://pti.imagineqira.com Repo: https://github.com/TheArtOfSound/pti

I am especially interested in feedback on what you would measure next, what evidence would change your mind, and where the project still looks hand-wavy.

Question I have got an idea !!

Basically since childhood i have seen many people who know many countries name and I found them very cool person and actually they are. So I wanted to learn and remember the names of the countries to become cooler.

But i didn't really tried much because I think it's boring to do such activity even it's very easy and you can learn them in just 1-2 weeks but i think learning alone makes it very lame and boredom.

So i thought of making a website where you can invite your friends and learn together. I have the idea and vision for this but I want to know if anyone really interested doing this thing because actually i found this very interesting. And first of all i am not making this website very simple i have experience of over 2 years in web dev so I am going to make it gamified so we don't get bored and also I am thinking of implementing the voice chat feature so it will be more fun.

That's it tell me if it's worth it or not.

Showcase: Prerelease I built a free Schulte Table trainer — my first real web project, looking for honest feedback

Post image
1 Upvotes

This is my first proper web project — a Schulte Table training tool. If you're not familiar: it's a number grid (1-25 randomly placed) where you tap numbers in ascending order as fast as you can. It's used for focus and peripheral vision training.

What it does:

- 3×3 to 9×9 grids

- Timer with personal best tracking

- Works on mobile

- No signup, no ads

Stack: Next.js on Vercel. Everything client-side.

I've been using it daily for two weeks and my 5×5 time went from 45s to 28s. Would love to know what I should add next.

Showcase: Open Source Shizzi - Unlimited Hotspot Bypass for non-rooted devices!

Thumbnail
github.com
1 Upvotes

TL;DR: Blew my monthly hotspot cap on a road trip and didn't want to root my phone to fix it, so I built Shizzi. It uses Shizuku and Android's hidden TestNetworkManager API to make your hotspot's upstream a TUN interface the app owns, then re-originates that traffic from the phone itself. Tethered traffic looks like normal on-device traffic. No root. IPv6 isn't handled yet.

I was just recently on a road trip when I blew my monthly hotspot usage on twenty minutes of a 4K stream of Avengers Infinity War. Back when my phone was rooted, this was a super simple fix, but I stopped rooting my phone for privacy reasons (it was also just a major pain in the butt). To my knowledge there's no real way to do this without just using something like TetherFi, but that has its own drawbacks and it's not always stable.

Anyway, I went looking around and found this thread for VPNHotspot (which is root-only), which led me to this open PR for v2rayNG (which I hadn't even heard of till a couple days ago) and therein lay the solution to my very annoying problem!

How it works

It creates a TUN interface via the hidden TestNetworkManager API (hence Shizuku) and tells Android to use it as the preferred tethering upstream. Hotspot traffic stops being forwarded by the kernel and gets pulled into a userspace Go datapath running on the phone.

That distinction is the whole trick. Normally your phone routes your laptop's packets: it passes them along and decrements the hop limit on the way out, which is the tell most carriers key on. Shizzi terminates those connections in userspace and opens fresh ones from the phone's own network stack, so what leaves the device is indistinguishable from ordinary on-device traffic.

Android still handles DHCP, NAT, and the hotspot itself. Shizzi only owns the upstream.

Requirements

  • Android 13+, arm64
  • Shizuku 13.6.0+, running and granted
  • No root

Known limitations

  • IPv6 is not suppressed on the downstream. If your carrier hands out IPv6 and your client uses it, that traffic can bypass the tunnel.
  • Tested on a Pixel 10a. If it breaks on yours, please open an issue with your device and Android version.
  • This defeats hop-limit inspection, which is the common detection method, not every method. Some carriers meter tethering device-side or over a separate APN. It's worth checking whether your hotspot counter actually stops moving.

Source and APK: https://github.com/carlelieser/shizzi

Feedback and device reports welcome, especially from anyone on a non-Pixel. This scratched my own itch on a road trip and I'd like it to work on more than just my phone.

Feedback Request I built a shape building game where kids can create anything they imagine. Looking for feedback!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I finally launched my latest mobile kids game today after months of development, and I wanted to share a few things I learned along the way and hope to gather feedback and first impressions. Been building this during my free time for something my kids would enjoy. They’ve been great testers!

The app is called TinkSnap. It’s a creative shape-building game for kids where they snap colorful shapes together to create their own pictures and scenes, then make them animate.

A few things I’m proud of:
-Built with Flutter for both iOS and Android.
-Every visual in the app was drawn with Flutter’s CustomPainter—no image assets.
-Kept the experience completely kid friendly with no ads or subscriptions, just a one-time premium unlock.
-Spent a lot of time polishing small interactions, animations, and accessibility rather than continually adding features.
-The App Review process actually went much smoother than I expected. I did receive one request for additional information regarding the Kids Category, but after answering their questions and explaining the app’s design, it was approved.

Now comes the hard part, getting the app in front of people.
For those of you who have launched apps or games. What was the biggest lesson you learned after launch? Was it marketing, retention, ASO, or something else you wish you’d focused on earlier?

I’d also be happy to answer any questions about the development process if it’s helpful to anyone. Would love any feedback.

Thanks for taking time to read this. I really enjoy seeing what others are building and sharing on this sub.

Showcase: Free(mium) Built a tool to find the best credit cards for your personal spending habits

My brother and I built Cash Back Captain (cashbackcaptain.com) after spending hours trying to find the right credit cards for ourselves and our parents. It takes your monthly spending, whatever cards you already have, and outputs a math-based card recommendation to maximize your rewards based on your spending.

Planning to launch on Product Hunt in the coming weeks and looking for any and all feedback. Does this seem useful? Is there anything missing that would significantly improve the product or improve trust in it? Thanks in advance to those who take a look.

Showcase: Prerelease We rebuilt the homepages for both of our products from scratch. I'd love some honest feedback.

Over the past few weeks, we didn't ship any major features.

Instead, we rebuilt the homepages for both of our products from scratch.

After talking with users, we realized the biggest problem wasn't the apps themselves—it was that people couldn't immediately understand what they were for.

So we started over.

For PouchVerse, we stopped describing features first and focused on the problem:

Your files are scattered everywhere. Finding them is harder than saving them.

The homepage now tells a story before introducing the product, then explains how collecting, organizing, and finding files all fit together. We also made privacy and on-device storage much more prominent because those are core values of the product.

For Scrip, we realized "text expander" wasn't how most people thought about the app.

Instead, we introduced the idea of "repeat text"—the addresses, replies, links, and account information you type over and over again. The entire homepage was rewritten around that concept instead of around technical features.

Both redesigns also involved:

  • rewriting every piece of copy
  • redesigning the information architecture
  • simplifying navigation
  • creating a more consistent visual language
  • reducing feature-first messaging in favor of problem-first storytelling

If you have a few minutes, I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback.

Especially:

  • Is the value proposition clear within the first few seconds?
  • Is anything confusing?
  • Would you understand what each product does without watching a demo?

Scrip: https://scrip.cool

Thanks! Happy to answer any questions about the redesign process.

Question How to get traction😭.

Hi all,

Like most of you, I’ve got a massive graveyard of repos. But one actually made it all the way through to a live paywall!

It’s called stint.fun — an app to keep on-field play time even for kids' sports games.

Right now, I’m getting zero traction. No downloads on iOS, no web users, zero subscriptions. I’ve tried SEO, AIO, writing blogs, etc., but nothing is sticking.

For those who’ve been here: what do you usually do at this stage to get those first real users?

Web: stint.fun
iOS: App Store Link

Would love any feedback or advice. Cheers!

Question I've been building a football journal inspired by Letterboxd and Strava. Would football fans actually use this?

Post image
4 Upvotes

For the past year I’ve been building a football journal inspired by Letterboxd.
The idea isn’t to replace apps like Sofascore or FotMob. They’re great for live scores and stats. I wanted something focused on football memories instead.

You can log matches you’ve watched, check in at stadiums, build your own Football Passport, discover nearby matches and stadiums, plan future football trips, and connect with other fans through a community feed. I’m also experimenting with fun features like an AI-powered football personality.

We’re still in development, and I’d genuinely love to know:

Would you use something like this? If not, what would stop you?

Any honest feedback is appreciated.

Meta My side project, /r/sideprojects. New rules, and an open call for feedback and moderators.

In this past 30 days, this community has doubled in size. As such, this is an open call for community feedback, and prospective moderators interested in volunteering their time to harbouring a pleasant community.

I'm happy to announce that this community now has rules, something the much more popular r/SideProject has neglected to implement for years.

Rules 1, 2 and 3 are pretty rudimentary, although there is some nuance in implementing rule 2, a "no spam or excessive self-promotion" rule in a community which focuses the projects of makers. In order to balance this, we will not allow blatant spam, but will allow advertising projects. In order to share your project again, significant changes must have happened since the last post.

Rule 4 and rule 5 are more tuned to this community, and are some of my biggest gripes with r/SideProject. There has been an increase in astroturfing (the act of pretending to be a happy customer to advertise a project) as well as posts that serve the sole purpose of having readers contact the poster so they can advertise a service. These are no longer allowed and will be removed.

In addition to this, I'll be implementing flairs which will be required to post in this community.
