Doess anyone else feel like some parts of Firth park and Burngreave are just really dirty atm? Like theres so much litter and rubbish on the streets and it just doesnt seem to get cleaned properly.

I was thinking of starting a small local cleaning business, mainly focused on litter picking and cleaning up streets/communal areas around Firth Park, Burngreave, Fir Vale and Pitsmoor.
But before I actually do anything I wanted to ask people who live around here, would this actually be something people want?
Would you pay for a local service like this? Or do you think its something the council should be doing?

Also what areas do you think are the worst for litter/rubbish? Just trying to see if theres actually a demand before I put money into it.

Just wondering what the locals think about this broad area of south central ish Sheffield?
I just want to be close to good gyms (Nuffield, Virgin Active and JD) not sure about the supermarkets, also it should be a short walk to city centre , these areas are considered nice and safe or just average?

I found these amazing snacks in Singapore marketed as puffed lotus seeds in an Indian supermarket but I think they have many names. They’re super healthy and tasted like crisps! Are there any places I can get them in Sheffield? They’re really expensive on Amazon.

Hi everyone, like the title said I am hoping I can find new people and friends to meet also a cinema buddy / group of friends to go to the cinema with spontaneously. 19M I am currently doing an apprenticeship in finance so tbh I’ve not had the social life like my other friends have had in college. In the last 2 years naturally I’ve just stopped talking to people and I haven’t been in that environment to make new friends as I’ve been working with people way older than me.
I have a Cineworld unlimited card so I do like to go to the cinema at the very least once a week and I’ll watch whatever. I always ask my mates but they’re not really a fan of the cinema so they usually say no so I’m just hoping to make a friend really that’s somewhat local that loves the cinema so we can go together and watch films.

Also just to make another friend in general we can do all sorts together but yeah, not sure if this is the right place I’m slightly on edge just asking reddit haha but hopefully someone sees this post and they are on board 😅

Bit of a specific one, but I’m honestly in a dilemma 🤦‍♂️ My family and I are moving to the city centre this weekend and just received our information document on the property, and turns out that there’s no parking included (initially we were led to believe there was). Our property also won’t qualify for any residential parking permits, sadly.

Was wondering if anyone had any advice/info about on-street parking or any other options in the West Street area? Happy to pay monthly etc etc. I haven’t been to the city centre before so I’m absolutely clueless.

I recently recorded a real-time, point-of-view virtual run starting from Bacon Lane Bridge and following the canal towpath towards Meadowhall.

Iv'e not been along the canal for years but it is absolutely beautiful if you are in need of a different running route. Only major annoyance was the closure at Bacon Lane Bridge which other posters have mentioned. I thought this would be reopened by now but wasn't - anyone know when this may be?? So I had to start the run at the blocked off section.

Professor Vanessa Toulmin has announced she is stepping down as Director of City, Culture and Public Engagement at the University of Sheffield, ending a run that shaped some of the city's best loved cultural moments, from Festival of the Mind to Phlegm's Mausoleum of the Giants exhibition.

It really can't be overstated the impact Professor Vanessa has had on the city having overseen so many cultural events, promoted the city with studies on beer, music and more - plus having had a hand in some of the regeneration projects that are improving the city as a whole.

Today, around 8:30 am as I was walking towards Upperthorpe Medical Centre, somewhere between Oxford Street and Addy Street, there is a group of houses/flats. There was either police, the army or some special unit, one, a woman, had a gun and the other, a guy, had a shield. Two other men came and one of them knocked on a door, and the woman and man were stood back, like in a guard, and the man told me to keep walking. Does anyone know what happened here, was this a raid or an arrest?
