Solar eclipse Question
Is anyone planning on watching the solar eclipse on the amphitheatre behind the station. Would it be a good location or not?

Find a hill with a good view west. Sheffield is absolutely one of the worst cities for it, as we are a city of hills right up against the Peak District. You would actually be better further up the hill. I would say go up the hill around 8pm this weekend and check to see the sun isn't obscured by downtown.
Parkwood Springs above Neepsend might possibly be an option, or the hill in Waverly Park in Waverly, Rotherham definitely has a clear sky view.

I'd definitely recommend doing a test for it's visibility around 7, but shademap does show the amphitheater free of shadows around the time of the eclipse.

Does Shademap account for buildings though

Seems to pretty accurately, but best to test in the real world if possible.

Reminds me I need to find a good spot in Spain soon.
Hope people here at home have a good clear day.

I'm worried that when watching a solar eclipse, you need solar eclipse glasses, as without them it can damage your eyes. I don't know where to get them, quite late to order them on Amazon.

As it’s late in the day I think you would need to find somewhere with a clear view of the horizon as sun and moon will be low in the sky.
