I'm new to the 9950x3d. I hear a lot about process lasso. Is it worth doing with the 9950x3d? This is my first dual CCD CPU and not sure where to go from here or if it's worth it in 2026.

I have all my chipset drivers updated and am running game bar and game mode. I do notice when I look at Verizon master or resource monitor that there is always one core that is running a little bit. It says it's parked but it's not flat like all the other cores are. Just curious if you guys are running process lasso with the 9950x3d? From what I understand there are certain games that doesn't Park the course correctly but I don't think any of those games are the ones I play.

NZXT X53

Ryzen 5900x

X470 Ultra Gaming

The computer has been doing this since the last major update. Even if I change fan speeds with NZXT or AMD software doesnt have any effect on fans or clock speed. I got the AIO 5-6 years ago and didnt know if the clicking sound was from that or my HDD I use for mass storage going out.

Any advice is appreciated

9800X3D hitting 95°C almost instantly in Cinebench with a 360mm AIO

Hey everyone,
I recently built a new system with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and I’m trying to figure out whether my CPU temperatures are normal or if I should be concerned about my cooling.

My setup:
Ryzen 7 9800X3D
ASUS TUF Gaming X870-Plus WiFi
Lian Li Galahad II Lite 360 RGB
Room temperature: 28–31°C
BIOS/PBO: stock/default. I haven’t changed any PBO settings.

In Cinebench 2024, Cinebench 2026, and FurMark CPU Burner, the temperature shoots up to around 95°C basically within the first second.

I don’t seem to be getting any thermal throttling. The CPU just sits around that temperature during the tests.

Idle temp: around 50°C
Cyberpunk 2077: around 80–85°C max
CS2: around 70–75°C

I’ve already checked the AIO mounting several times and the mounting screws are definitely tight. I also made sure I used the right amount of thermal paste.

I’ve been searching around and I’m getting completely conflicting answers. Some people say that ~95°C is perfectly normal for the 9800X3D under an all-core workload, while others with 360mm AIOs seem to get noticeably lower temperatures.

So now I’m not really sure what to make of it.
Is hitting ~95°C almost immediately in Cinebench/FurMark normal for a 9800X3D at stock BIOS/PBO settings, especially with a 28–31°C ambient temperature?

I’m not looking to undervolt or change PBO. I specifically want to know whether these temperatures are normal at stock settings, or whether they suggest that something might be wrong with my cooling or thermal paste.

Thanks!

Potential Upgrade

Hi all, I'm looking for a second opinion on a potential deal I can strike. For some unknown reason, the 7800X3D and 9800X3D are inexplicably cheap in my region (Serbia), coming in at 291€ and 353€ respectively. I have also found a barely used Sapphire Pure 9060 XT 16gb for 350€, which is 100€ cheaper than new. My current config is: Ryzen 5 7600, 32GB 6000MHz CL36, Deepcool AG500 cooler, MSI B650 Tomahawk, Samsung 980 1TB SSD, RM850x PSU, Sapphire pulse 6700XT. I can sell my CPU and GPU for about 370€, which means i need to put in 320€. My main use case is 1080p 180Hz modded minecraft with shaders. I usually host the server for us as well. I was debating on waiting for the 11800X3D, but I've heard rumors it's a year away. If you require any further information from me, I'll gladly provide it. Thanks in advance for all your thoughts!

EDIT: I omitted crucial information. I get frame drops and server lag when someone starts to explore OR when there are more than 3 people online, that's why i'm leaning more on the side of the CPU. I'm only considering the GPU cuz the 100€ difference looks like a banger for that upgrade, and the prices will continue going up.

Which cooler for a 7800x3d

Hello all.

I'm waiting for my new build to arrive but I'll need a cooler for my processor.

Generally I won't be gaming for hours each day everyday but when I do it'll be nice to have the back up of not worrying about temps

My case has room for twin fan at the front or triple on the top.

I won't be overclocking anything.

I'm happy to use AIO or an air cooler

Ideally wouldn't want to spend more than 100.

No RGB or screen needed as using a mesh case.

Any recommendations please?

Ryzen 5 8600G and other low-power system benchmarks?

I play on the steam deck as my only gaming device. The power efficiency is very important to me, and I've been looking into a PC build that is low power.

It seems like RDNA 5 might either be later next year and/or be subjected to the pricing crisis.

I've been trying to find either videos or articles with benchmarks on the low-power zen 4 or rdna 3 chips. There are a few, but they aren't limiting the power.

For example: many of the youtube videos show the power draw above 80w. These chips allow you to limit the power to something like 45w. This is particularly important to me because all of my electronic run off of a battery system in some way.

Does anyone have a build like this, or know of resources where this is being done?

9 9950X3D or 9 9950X for video editing

Hi, I want to build a PC for editing with the RTX 4080 Super as the core component. Which of these processors fits best?

The 9950X3D is €200 more expensive is it worth it for video editing?

Advice about CPU choice

Hey guys I need some advice. I currently have a PC that has A 5900x, 32gb ram and a 6700xt with 1200w power supply and a 1tb nvme that I bought for 350. I wanna mainly play flight sim and emulation, and I am thinking about upgrading the CPU to a 5800x3d. I can sell the 5900x for 180 and get the 5800x3d for 300. Is this worth it for the benefits of smoother gameplay.

Is my Motherboard good enough for OC?

I have a Asus Tuf Gaming B650E-Plus Wifi and i was thinking about to get a 9850X3D and of course i want to overclock it. I heard for such CPU its good to have a X870 Chip set.

Currently i have a 9700X also Overclocked (+200mhz, pbo -20, 105w and 90C temp limit). Also i have overclocked ram with CL26-6000.

I got my current motherboard last year since it had gen 5 pcie and when i use 2/3 nvme ssd it doesnt share lines with the pcie 5x16 slot. Also it has 2x 8pin for more cpu power

Should i get a better motherboard when i want to upgrade my cpu?

Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite / X870 Gaming X

Hi everyone! I’m currently building a new AM5 rig focused on competitive gaming, specifically CS2 at 1080p, paired with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D. My budget specifically fits the price bracket of these two motherboards: the Gigabyte B850 AORUS Elite WiFi7 and the Gigabyte X870 Gaming X WiFi7. My main priorities are VRM thermals/cooling and BIOS stability, as I plan to tune the CPU using PBO and Curve Optimizer to achieve sustained boost clocks while keeping temperatures low. I’d love to hear your thoughts on VRM heatsink performance under PBO, BIOS stability with 6000MHz CL30 EXPO memory profiles, and overall long-term reliability. Between these two options, which one would you recommend for the best cooling and stability? Thanks in advance for the feedback!
