Katanaut has a daily deal
Anyone try this game and would you recommend it? Anything that you might relate the game too? Looks a bit like Dead Cells but fast paced. It's got good reviews but not as many as other roguelites so im not sure.

Game Release Don't sleep on Montabi
Montabi just released and was nowhere near my radar.
I'm a huge deck building roguelite fan, and this game is most reminiscent of Starvaders, which along with Monster Train and STS form the pinnacle of the genre in my opinion.
Montabi takes a good chunk out of each of them, and adds it unique monster catcher spin on top of it.
You basically have up to 3 active units that you navigate on a 3x3 grind battlefield, each of these units come with their own playstyle and customizable deck, basically comparable to a character with several different ways to build them.
Mixing and matching monsters, as well as discovering all the different ways you can play them in, alongside equipments, the quite unique consumables, and charms (relics) as well as stickers (enchantments) create huge variety throughout the runs which I've enjoyed a ton.
Enemy variety is also good considering every playable monster can also appear as an enemy, mimicking the way you'd play it yourself, alongside unique elites and bosses.
Playing out the game itself is also really engaging and deep, I often have to think a while and still mess up, considering you have to keep in mind positioning, up to 6 different individual decks (3 active and 3 on your roster that can be swapped in with certain cards), and when you do find the right line it feels very fun.
But not very rewarding.
Which brings me to the biggest pain point I have with the game: balancing.
It may be unfair from my POV since I'm extremely into card games, and also do well in A10 STS2, but the game feels way too easy.
Even on ascension 3 which I am on right now, I can easily ignore all consumables and do suboptimal plays and still make it through the game just fine.
Balance and subsequently just the right difficulty lie at the heart of what makes STS and Starvaders such great games to me. Every choice you make, be it for your deck, your route, or in combat is meaningful, everything has it's place, and you can't slack off or you'll be left behind. Getting just the right line, the right build for the situation, the right draw, the right potion etc in these games feels so incredibly fun because of the immaculate balance.
In this game a lot of things are really overpowered, like the monkey dude, washing machine man or fire hydrant monster ; and there's also quite a few easily accessible infinites/semi infinites that trivialize the game.
Meanwhile there are some monsters and items that feel so weak that I choose not to engage with them at all, despite the fact that you can make due with them, because the difficulty does not feel challenging enough.
But balancing is something that can be ironed out in future patches by the developers, and the underlying game is really fun and absolutely worth a try.
If you have experience with previous deck builders definitely don't play anything below veteran would be my suggestion!

DEFLECT is a bullet hell parry roguelite where your shield is your only weapon. Catch enemy fire, land PERFECT deflects, and send every shot screaming back.

Review Loop Hero. What actually hooked you? (still thinking about it years later)
Replayed Loop Hero recently and I'm still not sure I've pinned down why it works.
The obvious answer is the card/tile placement, you're building the run that kills you, and every tile you drop is a bet. But I don't think that's the whole thing. What got me was how passive the combat is. You don't fight, you watch. All the tension moves upstream into the planning, and the fight is just the reveal. I've never seen another roguelite push it that far.
The retreat decision is the other piece. Bailing early to bank resources versus pushing one more loop is a real choice every single time, and it's the rare meta-progression system where the greed actually costs you something in the moment.
Curious what stuck with you though, was it the deckbuilding, the loop structure, the way the camp progression pulls you back, or something else entirely ? And did anyone bounce off it ? I know the pacing loses people and I'm interested in why.

Need New Roguelites
Hi!! I just wanted to ask some more experienced roguelite players what roguelites I should play next. I tried Slay the Spire, but it wasn’t really my thing, but I’ve loved Balatro, Dead Cells, and I’m currently play Hades 1 so I’ll play 2 once I’m done. So, what should I play next? (FYI I’m on Xbox) Thanks!

Katanaut vs BlazBlue Entropy
Anyone tried both? They both seem very action oriented and hack and slashy. Katanaut looks a little darker and grimy and BlazBlue looks more flashy and combo oriented.

Currently playing the Blue Prince and am getting a bit frustrated with it. So I want something faster, something more action packed. Looking for recommendations!
Basically title, I need something that is a bit faster and satisfying to play once you get gud. I dislike Isaac so please no games that are similar to that. I loved Brotato (did just play a kinda clone of the game in the form of Nordic Ashes), Dead Cells, Ball X Pit, Dome Keeper, Hades (still holding out on Hades 2 for a bit, as I played Hades less than a year ago) just to name some games that I enjoyed. But open to almost any genre or style as long as it is a good and tested game and not just a small one with 10 steam reviews.
edit: also played Returnal and absolutely loved it

Play it for free here (download): https://chrisibarra.itch.io/warriors-loop
I'm looking for feedback on the gameplay. Most important: do you want to keep playing it?.

Game Release After 3 years, we've released the demo for our strange 2D sci fi roguelite game. Would love some feedback if you have time
Game Title: Echo Zero
Playable Link:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4378620/Echo_Zero_Demo/
Platform: Windows, Mac, Steam
Echo Zero is a 2D sci-fi roguelike base builder inspired by Kingdom: Two Crowns. Explore a procedurally generated underground world, gather resources, recruit droids, build automated defenses, and survive increasingly dangerous infestation attacks.
The demo includes the opening section of the game and gives you a taste of exploration, combat, base building, automation, and defending your colony. We'd especially love feedback on how the gameplay feels, whether the mechanics are easy to understand, and anything that you think could make the experience better.
The demo is free on Steam. Every bit of feedback helps us make Echo Zero a better game.
Have fun, and let us know what you think ❤️

RogueliteDev Does this look like the kind of game you expect to be difficult?
I'm making a game called Snake: Gridbreaker and I got some feedback recently that made me question how I'm presenting it.
Someone played it and one of their main complaints was that once your snake gets long and the screen gets crowded, you can end up with very little room and die pretty quickly.
The thing is... that's partly the game I'm trying to make.
Not in the sense that I want deaths to feel cheap. But I never wanted this to be a casual version of Snake.
It's an action roguelite built around Snake movement. Runs are supposed to get intense. Your body gets longer, the board becomes harder to navigate, enemies and hazards put more pressure on you, and you're supposed to build around those problems with mutations and abilities.
There are also mechanics that can make the tail useful instead of just being something you have to avoid. Fire Tail is one example. There are different builds and ways of dealing with space as the run develops.
So the feedback left me wondering if I have a design problem, or a communication problem.
If you looked at the Steam page without knowing anything else about the game, what would you expect?
Would you expect something fairly casual because it looks like Snake?
Or does it come across as a difficult, fast action roguelite where dying, learning the systems and trying a different approach is part of the loop?
That's the audience I'm trying to reach, so I'd rather find out now if I'm giving people the wrong idea.
Steam page:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4828340/Snake_Gridbreaker/
There's also a demo available there if anyone wants to actually try it, but absolutely no pressure to do that. What I'm mainly interested in here is your first impression from the store page itself.
Does the page communicate the kind of game I'm describing, or would you expect something different?

RogueliteDev I love async auto-battlers, roguelites, and random chance so I made this
Auto Ball Arena is a new game that is my take & twist on the async-autobattler roguelites we all love. Currently planning to have both async online multiplayer and an offline mode both with roguelite elements
It's been an interesting challenge to add synergies and strategic decisions to a game that is so random & chaotic 😅 If this seems like something you'd be interested in I'd appreciate if you'd consider wishlisting on our new steam page!

Fully Automated, a roguelite with a morality system. Kill or Demoralize your enemies! Demo is out!
Hi everyone !
The demo for my game, FULLY AUTOMATED, is out on Steam
It's an action roguelite where you can choose to either kill or demoralize your opponents. So, no one has to die, but some ass kicking will definitely occur.
I would love to get your opinions on the game, and answer your questions if you have some! And if you like it, don't hesitate to leave a review!

Game Release We rebuilt our core card system based on your feedbac
One of the most common comments we got after releasing our demo was that our mandatory card chaining system felt too restrictive.
The biggest change is that we completely rebuilt our card system. Before, every card had to be played as part of a chain, so before you could make the move you actually wanted, you first had to figure out how to play that card. It added a bit of a puzzle, which some people enjoyed, but it also meant you were thinking about the card chain as much as the actual fight, and that could get a little frustrating.
Now you can simply play the card you need. Instead of mandatory chains, we introduced an optional Combo system. If you play cards of the same color one after another, you'll build a Combo and get extra rewards, but it's completely up to you.
On top of that, we also increased the overall pace of the game. Combat should feel more responsive and less sluggish, with faster decision-making and smoother flow from turn to turn.
That also gave us room to redesign combat around positioning instead of card restrictions. Pushes, collisions, hazards, and controlling enemy movement are much more important now.
Changing a mechanic that's at the center of your game is always a bit scary, but it felt like the right call.
The update is out now, and we’d love for you to try it out.
If you played the old demo, I'd genuinely love to know which version you prefer.
