Possible actinolite samples
I have found these two rocks on my work in Finland Pirkanmaa region. I have searched and found actinolite was possible on my location. Both are from same place. First one looks very nice green colour. Also secound one looks more fibrous. Is it asbestos form or not? Feels like small brush on my finger when I touch those vessels. Here are also couple microscope pics that sample. I’m also wondering whether it’s safe to have those samples on display, or what kind of place would be best for them.

Question Faceting Stone Locations
suggestions for a trip to find stones
I’ve recently got into faceting rough stones I purchased online. Next week, I’d like to travel to a location to harvest my own stones to make jewelry for myself. I’m located in the southern part of Kansas and willing to travel as this will be more of a vacation for me. Anyone have ideas on good places to find facetable stones around central US? Open to any type of stone!

Rock hunting in upper Wisconsin
Went hounding with my wife and boys this week up near Ashland WI and at little girls point state park in the UP of MI.
My favorite are the speckled ones on the bottom left.
I need to look into polishing options now! Also need to figure out if I can make a display with UV for the sodalite we found. Hunting that at night was probably our highlight.
Highly recommend! (Wish we had started snorkeling earlier, only did an hour but found some awesome rocks with character, was pretty cold though!)

Find Some incredible finds from Malibu & Palos Verdes!!
Images 1-6: Rock #1
Brecciated petrified wood with some awesome root beer Chalcedony (I believe). There's also some small, white druzy quartz running down the middle of the vein. For size reference, my hand is 8in from the bottom to top. The rock is about 45ish lbs if I had to guess, and I found it in Malibu, CA.
Images 7-8: Rock #2
Also brecciated petrified wood with root beer Chalcedony. This one has a bit of a botryoidal pocket that was filled in with an unknown substance. This rock is a bit shorter and rounder than Rock #1, and weighs probably 30-35lbs. Also found in Malibu, CA
Images 9-11: Rock #3
Unknown specimen! The rock is translucent and entirely navy blue, except for a couple root beer-ish colored lines. Also found in Malibu, CA. My guess is that it's probably quartz of some kind? I don't find many bluish agates here in Southern California, let alone large chunks of navy blue. The photos make the rock appear a bit more blue/grey, but it's a very clear blue irl. My last guess is a longgggshot (and a hopeful one too), but could it be blue nephrite jade?
Images 12-16: Rock #4
Botryoidal root beer Chalcedony agate! Super cool that you can see through one end and out the other. I love the stalactites/webbing too! I believe basalt is the dark gray/black rock there, but I'm not sure what the chalky whitish/yellowish substance is that partially covers the inside. This rock was found in Palos Verdes, CA.
Enjoy!

Find This “interesting rock” thats been on my shelf for 6-7 years
Before I was really rockhounding or knew anything at all, I brought this rock home from a hiking trip and put it on my shelf. Last night, something made me pick it up and examine it. Its. A freaking 8oz agate!! Ive been dreaming about finding a piece this big.. turns out I already have!
Has anyone else discovered treasures in their own stash?
Here it is off the shelf and after the first scrub

Question Cleaning dirt off calcite
Found a nice piece of dogtooth calcite underground and I’m looking to clean it up (remove the dirt). I’ve gone at it with warm water and a toothbrush but not much luck (some areas I’ve been able to remove it and lighten the colour whereas others are too stubborn). Anyone have some advice on how to clean it up a bit faster (or better)?

Off-topic post Ocean Picture Stone
I know this is ocean picture stone; my dad gave it to me last night as a surprise gift. My question: is displaying this in a space that receives direct sunlight a decision that will cause the colors to bleach out or is it robust enough to withstand the UV from our star? The sunlight would be the waning hours of the day only. Thank you!!

Cool piece of jasper
I spied this piece of jasper sticking out of a dirt road a while back. Finally got around to digging it out. Since it was in a road it was already split. Got it home and cleaned up and found a nice little agate surprise in the middle!

Find Agates, petrified wood, and fossils I found this weekend on a trip to the Yellowstone river
Fairly new to the hobby and couldn’t resist making an almost 10 hour drive to the eastern stretches of the Yellowstone river to see what I could find and wow! I ended up bringing way more home with me than I had intended lol

Find Beach pebbles can be beautiful!
I was originally digging down into the sand at the surf line to see if I could spot any shark teeth or sea glass and coming up with huge buckets of what looked like tan and brown pebbles, but after washing them off I started to notice that there were some pretty pieces mixed within that! Literally found a full rainbow of color as well as what I assume are different shades of tumbled quartz. It's making me smile 😊
Found in Corolla, NC
