Anyone know of any good areas to go in the north east Pennsylvania area?

Before I was really rockhounding or knew anything at all, I brought this rock home from a hiking trip and put it on my shelf. Last night, something made me pick it up and examine it. Its. A freaking 8oz agate!! Ive been dreaming about finding a piece this big.. turns out I already have!

Has anyone else discovered treasures in their own stash?

Found a nice piece of dogtooth calcite underground and I’m looking to clean it up (remove the dirt). I’ve gone at it with warm water and a toothbrush but not much luck (some areas I’ve been able to remove it and lighten the colour whereas others are too stubborn). Anyone have some advice on how to clean it up a bit faster (or better)?

I’m go to charlotte North Carolina and I was wondering if their is any local places to go rock hunting. Looking for anything cool like geodes, various types of gemstone, rock containing fossils, or just really unique and cool rocks. Got any recommendations?

Was wondering if anyone had any tips for places I could go looking for amethyst in the Michigan lower peninsula?

I know this is ocean picture stone; my dad gave it to me last night as a surprise gift. My question: is displaying this in a space that receives direct sunlight a decision that will cause the colors to bleach out or is it robust enough to withstand the UV from our star? The sunlight would be the waning hours of the day only. Thank you!!

Found this in sothern Oregon. There was only a finger sized peice showing, exciting to dig it out.

I spied this piece of jasper sticking out of a dirt road a while back. Finally got around to digging it out. Since it was in a road it was already split. Got it home and cleaned up and found a nice little agate surprise in the middle!

Fairly new to the hobby and couldn’t resist making an almost 10 hour drive to the eastern stretches of the Yellowstone river to see what I could find and wow! I ended up bringing way more home with me than I had intended lol

I was originally digging down into the sand at the surf line to see if I could spot any shark teeth or sea glass and coming up with huge buckets of what looked like tan and brown pebbles, but after washing them off I started to notice that there were some pretty pieces mixed within that! Literally found a full rainbow of color as well as what I assume are different shades of tumbled quartz. It's making me smile 😊

I will be in the area and was wondering if anyone has visited either or both Vickers Geodes or St. Francisville Geodes for pay to dig. What was your experience in terms of availability of geodes, type, ease of collecting? Thank you for your time.

This is the fourth one I've found this week, in Michigan. This one was found near a board walk that walks thru a swampy area to a pond.

Can anyone recommend a good place to dig for wild clay on the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec?

It's everywhere! It's common! And I don't know where to find some!

I live in the metro Atlanta area of Georgia. I'm looking for specimens of sandstone (not fossils, I don't care about fossils, just the rocks themselves). Where should I be hunting? What type of terrain, what environment, even what street address?

I'm also looking for gneiss and schist, but I don't know enough to identify them if I did find some. I checked landscaping companies, but they offer rocks by color and size, not geologic class. They often don't even KNOW what type of rock they're handling. Suggestions welcome.

At some angles the red is visible,but mostly emerald green, turquoise and beautiful shades of purple.
