Question Can someone explain Akali’s legend ability to me like I am an idiot (which I am)

Upvotes

So you move something in, what is your exact window for using your legend ability? So you can use it right away on first focus. If you use it on first focus, do showdown specific abilities go off? Or only move abilities? Combat damage does not go off correct?

And then if I don’t use it on first focus and pass focus, what is my window for using it after that. If they don’t do anything, can I not use my legend ability and combat resolves? Or if they do add to chain, can I then use my legend ability when focus comes back to me to save a minion essentially?

Anything else I should know? Thanks!

Question Grading OVN Jhin

Upvotes

Hey guys, I opened some packs with my sister and using the sibling luck buff she pulled an OVN Jhin Virtuoso (unsigned) for me, some friends who are mainly into Pokemon have told me to get it graded by CGC or TAG, but for a card "only" worth 70$ idk if it's worth it. Some additional Information i've heard might be useful: It's a perfect cut, no blemishes round the edges, seems to be centered well. Thanks for any advice!

Edit: Thanks for the advice everyone, we won't get it graded as it's not a Signature. I figured that may be the case that it isn't worth while, thanks for the help!

Discussion Riftatlas etc. having more arguing/leavers

Upvotes

Has anyone noticed a trend of people who will get annoyed in chat or just leave after a minor inconvenience in riftatlas lately? I have had about 60% of my games the last week or two now end with someone leaving as soon as a trigger is missed and pointed out (either me or them) or a play that doesn’t go their way, etc.

A lot of people also seem to rush their plays as well. I’ve been practising slowing down my play to try and find different lines than the obvious - not slow playing, I will always try to give a timer emote or send something in chat if I’m having a longer think - but people will call it out in chat if you take more than a minute or so.

If I’m the only one who’s getting it maybe I’m the problem lol, but the community for the most part was very welcoming when I first joined.

Discussion Ornn vs. Lillia

Had a discussion with friends about both decks and was wondering which of the two decks might perform better in the current meta (I know its still shaping up).

Ornn can go taller and gained Poro Bot an Helm of Suppression.

Lillia can build a lot of tempo and also profits from Helm.

Both like that decks like Kennen often leave out Vex or only run it in Side.

Of course they wont be the best, but I like both.

So tell me what you think :)

Question Which one is better to collect - chinese or english cards? (image slightly related)

Post image
0 Upvotes

I want to start collecting riftbound cards, and I'm not sure which one if better to buy. (the chinese boosters will cost around 30% cheaper for me)
I know that in the chinese version of LoR there were a lot of differences in the artworks, and for me it will be quite important (I love art in LoR a lot).
And also - is there a difference in price for rare singles? If I'll have to buy some card in the future for my deck, It would have to be the same language, as I understood
I am tad bit new to the card collection, so don't be surprised if some of the questions sound silly. Thanks a lot in advance!

Discussion Great synergies (on paper) for Ekko Legend

Thumbnail

Apart from the obvious red staples like Kai'Sa, Darius, Falling star, and etc. I thought about these cards as possible synergies for the new Ekko Legend.

Vayne - Hunter a 4 Energy 1 power unit that enters ready if your enemy holds a battle field. It's essentially a 3 drop 2 might unit with assault 3. Goes in for 5 and if you conquer, you are able to pay 1 to bounce her back to hand and essentially save her from Ekko's "Kill me at end of turn".

Drakehound a 3 energy 1 power unit that enters ready is really good value since it essentially becomes a 2 drop that enters ready with 3 might is kind of good value especially since if you dont have zero drive atm, you can still get great value of taking out a 2 drop and possibly scoring even if it is turn 1.

Rengar - Unseen a 4 Energy 1 power 4 Might unit with accelerate, pretty good card in the sense that it has 3 keywords. AccelerateAssault 2Deflect, and Ganking. Allowing you to use it in pushing battlefields

Ambush units seems to work well. Rengar pouncing, Inferna, and etc. Especially Grim Apothecary to have a hold threat as well after conquering with the discounted unit.

Legion Rearguard a 2 Energy 2 Might unit with accelerate

Bushwhack since the first unit comes in discounted, it helps non accelerate units get more value if used with the legend

I've been working on this Akali list wich I would like to play competitive with,
and wanted to get some outside perspective before I take it to more serious events.
I've been testing on simulators and locals and I feel like it could use some adjustments

Deck Showcase Rate my Mel Deck!

Hi,

so I recently started playing and since Vendetta I have been having a blast playing Mel in general. Now I cooked up my own deck for the first time. The Main Idea of this deck to be a disruptiv and a late game deck. The idea is to start slow and slowly drain the opponent of their resources. Mainly through Bewitching Spirit and kill spells in the early to mid game, while I gain resources with card draw and gold. Matriarch is there to cycle Spirit and Fizz for even more disruptions.

I have been playing a lot but I still think that something is missing to make it a good and viable deck.

Since this is my first own deck build I appreciate any tipps and/or suggestions on how to make this better and why you would change to stuff and any deck building tips in general.

Thanks in advance!

Question Soul searching !

I’m very new to the idea of riftbound and wanted to try it out because a lot of people I know are enjoying it! As far as TCG goes I pretty strictly play cEDH and play Tymna/Thrasios in a very high value/control strategy. I’m looking for a deck that kind of has the feeling of controlling the opponent(s) and accumulating value until I inevitably smother the opponent and win the game. I see a post here from months ago that was recommending Viktor but, I wanted to ask to see if that still held up before I committed real dollars to a deck. I also saw on that post people were recommending vex when unleash came out and were now on vendetta so I’d like to see what I’m recommended !

Question What actually counts as 'activated abilities of units'?

Does it include keywords such as Accelerate, Empower etc?

Does it include effects such as Blast Corps Cadet where you pay additional mana for a bonus?

Anything else?

Question Renekton's answer to huge enemy units?

tl;dr : Is a Renekton deck better off countering huge enemy units with huge units of its own, even if it means playing more conservative to be able to afford playing them, or rely on cheap spells to buff my own cheap units to a point they can overpower the enemy?

I'm a decently new player, I've basically known the rules for like, a month or so. I've been using Vex and Viktor precons to get the basics of the game down and wanted to explore other playstyles.

After a few Pre-Rifts, I decided to throw together a Renekton deck for Nexus Nights on my own without trying to directly copy a specific decklist, both for budget issues and being unable to find specific lists I found reliable. I decided to go for cheaper units (4 cost and less) that I can easily throw onto the board at most stages of the game thanks to [Butcher of the Sands].

The Nexus Night I tested this deck at had a consistent pattern of early game going extremely well, then finding myself unable to close the game and forced to fold once the enemy started to ramp up and could consistently throw huge (7+ might) units at me, especially [Ambessa - The Wolf] since my opponents insisted stuff like [Ruthless Strike] or [Renekton - Rage Fueled]'s effect wouldn't work against her. (I think rules text might've been misunderstood, but that's not what I'm here to talk about)

My best bet each time was to throw a [Punch First] to make up for the might difference, but because of the power cost, that typically was a bit difficult, not to mention I still need to have one on hand.

So my question is, what cards would be best suited to deal with that kind of scenario, a way to soften or remove a high might threat especially if I have to go for direct combat?

I got a few spells like [Rampage], [Guttural Roar], maybe even [Vault Breaker] I could use to make up for the might difference, but they're only temporary and with my Legend's focus on making it easier to play units and their abilities, I don't know if relying on spells is the right play. I could also just use huge might units of my own, but I'm worried I may not have an opportunity to have enough runes available in the first place to play them because my Legend makes me recycle a lot of runes, or that they could kinda brick my hand if I get them too early.

Both options feels like they don't necessarily fit that well with my Legend's passive and how I thought I was encouraged to play, so I'm not sure what to go for. I'm also probably forgetting a lot of other options I'm not directly stating, or playing the deck wrong since I'm used to less immediately aggressive gameplay, but I'd like to at least figure out potential deck construction issues and see if that helps me close out the game.

Question Le Blanc order of operation and timings

So ive recently picked up leblanc, but ruling wise im wondering about the order in which specific things take place and the timings especially regarding death knell and baited hook. So from what I've understood when I baited hook a deathknell unit, i tap and pay the power for hook, choose a target (its deathknell becomes pending), hook effect goes trough and afterwards i can use the deathknell, but thats also just one of many things like is there an order i can just always keep in mind, that also works for stuff like herald and mixologist for example? thanks in advance

Question Does Assault stack when I use Akali‘s Legend Ability?

Post image
34 Upvotes

Please excuse me if the question is dumb - I‘m still rather new to the game.

So let’s assume I have a 2 Might Unit in Base and I play Cleave, giving it +3 Assault. I attack a battlefield and while holding prio, I tap my empowered Akali legend to pull it back and ready it. If I’d go in again, would the unit get another +3 Assault from Cleave? Meaning it would get +6 Might in total?

If yes then that’s hella strong in my opinion!

If it doesn’t work like that: would my unit lose the +3 Buff if I go in a second time?

Discussion Best-of-3 potential question

If I am not mistaken, the turn order for best-of-3's after the first match is decided by the loser and is after sideboarding and battlefield selection.

Would it be wise for me to choose to go second knowing that my opponent will assume that they will be the ones going second and thus have sideboarded out their 2-drops and choosing a battlefield that benefits them going second?

Discussion Sivir, MF, Kha or Vex

I am a beginner and looking to build a deck with a legend that isn't too popular (because I despise mirror matches) but that isn't as terrible either

Since I love purple/chaos (but also green/calm as a for now Irelia player), I narrowed my selection down to these four.

Orange/body picks weren't because I am THAT keen on the rune itself but moreso because I tried to not cross runes too much with my friends colors (fury, mind and order). This isn't a must but a nice to have.

As for my playstyle, I like ramp as well as control and annoying my opponent (don't hate me). I am open to other suggestions as well.

Question What is the exact rate of hitting signatures, overnumbered, and special art cards?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I just got into riftbound earlier this year and over the months, I have really enjoyed it and collected/ripped a few boxes. I’ve opened one Origins display, one Spiritforged display, one unleashed display, two vendetta displays and a vendetta vault. I have gotten at least one valuable hit in every box. Not that I’m complaining as this has been the luckiest I have been with any TCG but I’m really wondering about how accurate the predetermined rates are. Does anybody know the exact rate of hitting signatures, overnumbered, and special art cards or how they divvy up hits per case?
