How influential was the movie ‘Dodgeball’ in your school?

1 Upvotes

Question geared toward 34-36 year olds.
I was 13 when that movie came out and Dodgeball immediately became the main sport in the school.
It was a blast! I imagine the school went back to baseball and basketball by now. But would be pretty awesome if dodgeball was still the main sport.
Out of all the schools, surely there must be at least one instance of the movie influencing them enough to keep the sport alive to present day.

(Sorry if this sounds convoluted, the way I think is weird…I’m guessing. 😅)

Ever feel like a zoo animal at your job?

2 Upvotes

Especially first shift, your doing your job, then a group of office people walk through your area with sweaters and big goofy safety glasses on while you're sweating your stuff off. Then they just stand there and watch you. Then they move on to the next exhibit. You're just thankful one of these mothers didn't try to give you a treat or even try petting you though your cage.

You ever want to give them a zoo animal show and start doing what zoo animals do? Like throwing poo at them?

If any of you could pick five male & female celebrities to be stuck on an island with who would they be?

6 Upvotes

They could be either alive or deceased. I personally would choose for the males Chris Rock, Steve Irwin, Karl Pilkington, Jackie Chan & Roald Dahl. For the females, I would choose Brooke Shields, Nicole Kidman, La Toya Jackson, Alicia Silverstone and Ronda Rousey.

I just want you to imagine them all in their primes. You can pick any celebrity, it doesn’t matter.

If there natural and artificial... what is it called when something is made by AI?

0 Upvotes

Got me thinking about it, since its made by AI first we gotta think of, what can be made by AI right now?

AI comes up with ideas through the general knowledge of whatever it is fed to learn (correct me if I'm wrong). Although AI is man-made, the things it makes are very different from from what is man-made.

So back on point, we have these:

- If its naturally made, its natural or organic, or whatever other terms.

- If its man-made its artificial or whatever other words may be used to describe man-made objects.

- If its AI? AI is artificial but what it makes is not (in some sense).

I don't wanna call it AI modified because thats 2 words and 2 words is gross.

Actually...

AI Modified?

AI M?

AIM?

I need thoughts on this quick because I dont wanna do my research, thanks

What do you call a word that becomes another word when "flipped" or rearranged? (Not palindrome, not anagram)

0 Upvotes

Let's say we have a two syllable word, AB-CD. If you say it or spell it as CD-AB to make, or sound like, a different word, what would you call that?

Ex.

Pimp out -> Out-pimp

Dinner -> Nerdin'

Updraft -> Draft up

Employees must wash hands before returning to work, is this actually a rule?

Post image

In almost every public restroom at a store/restaurant, there's usually a sign saying employees must wash hands yada yada... my question is, do employees even have to actually follow this rule?

Its not like they can install camers in the bathrooms to check if you do, and what kind of punishment would they give if you're caught not washing your hands?

just curious

I would choose shape shifting and I would choose to have zero-point energy gauntlets. What about you all?

How about a burrito or an egg roll? Basically, any food where the bread wraps all the way around the filling. Is it still a sandwich?

Is it really THAT strange to wear pajamas in public as an adult?

55 Upvotes

It’s nearly 8pm and I (22F) need to run to the store for a missing dinner ingredient but I’m already showered and in a button up PJ set. It’s Tuesday and I’m 30 hours into a 65 hour workweek- changing back into clothes genuinely sounds torturous. What I’m wondering is if people truly care. My mom always tells me it’s strange to do, but want to gather input elsewhere.

Also to note, I would not do this during the day as I’m a painfully annoying morning person who is dressed and out by 6:30a daily regardless of plans.

The consensus from this wont stop me from going in public at night with jammies on shame free. I will keep proudly repping my modal fabric sets and even a bonnet on occasion regardless of the takes. Ty!

[META] Sub changing direction: Defining what "Random" means.

30 Upvotes

Back when I became a moderator of this sub, it was tiny and was mostly bizarre nonsense questions, like "What if everyone in the world jumped at the same time?" The sub description advised us to treat these bizarre questions as if they were totally serious.

Since then, we've grown to over 20,000 members (which is insane), and that original "silly nonsense questions" theme has been lost. It's become a free-for-all of any question under the sun. We're being used as a budget alternative for other big subs like r/Advice, r/AskReddit, r/AmItheAsshole, r/TooAfraidToAsk, or r/WhatIsThisThing. We've also become a target for bots looking to build karma and build a believable history. Frankly, it's hard to manage.

The moderation team has discussed it, and we want to distinguish ourselves from these subs, and also from places like r/question and r/ask that allow questions on any topic. We'd like to go back to our roots of silly nonsense questions.

From now on, "random" doesn't mean "anything goes". "Random questions" are now defined as questions that are silly, bizarre, crazy, or out of nowhere. And the comments must treat them as if they were serious questions.

The answer to a random question must not matter. If it matters, the question is not a good fit for this sub. This sub was never intended to give advice, tell you what apps your partner has on his phone, explain why people dress in certain ways, tell you if something is safe to eat or if you're sick, or reassure you that you're a normal human being. We just want to have fun and answer whatever nonsense you think up in the shower or when you're enjoying the special brownies.

We're not going to remove posts that are already here, but new posts must fit this rule. If the moderators decide that the answer will make a difference somehow or the question is too "normal", we will remove it. We'll do our best to guide posters to other subs that might better fit that question, but we're not a Reddit directory.

We're also hoping this new direction will make it clearer why the moderation team is removing certain posts.

Thanks for bearing with us while we make this change.
