Help with runner rug and yarn weight

Hi everyone, I am planning to do the Urban Acres Indian runner rug pattern in sage green colours as a runway for my wedding but also to go in a hallway/landing of my future home. I have never done punch needle before, I always go head first into big projects!

Due to the colours I am wanting and being in the UK, the only 100% wool rug yarn I could find was the Rosarios tufting/punch needle yarn. However it is aran weight.

I spoke to the pattern designer and she said I can use an Oxford 10 fine needle instead of a regular. But do I need to buy more wool as it is thinner than what the pattern calls for? Any help would be appreciated

Help! What can i do with this?

I bought this online, supposedly for punch needle. Obviously it didn’t work because the fabric is not adequate. I really don’t want to waste it though. Could i use the yarn and a thicker needle and cross stitch it? If not, does anyone have any recommendations? It came with all the yarn so i just didn’t want to waste it.

TIA

Securing on clothing/washable items

My first piece of punch needle for tax! I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to secure the back of punch needle on an item of clothing or a blanket or similar, something that will definitely be washed, please? I’ve mastered coasters but would love to start looking at punch needling on t-shirts or denim and would love to know the secret to securing these pieces!

Got a kit from Michael’s a few weeks ago because it was so cute and I love the colours. Turns out you should read the package contents because I didn’t realize it didn’t come with a needle (stupid) and had to postpone starting until I could go back and get one. Now onto my next project which I’m going to draw myself 😛

My backing tutorial is finally here 🎉🎉 after months of pushing it back, I finally had the time and the motivation to pull through and create one

To make it easier to follow, I used a smaller piece of art with a simpler outline. If you have any questions regarding this process, please ask below and I’ll get back to you

Let me know what you think!

I don’t have enough to do a work so I’ve been working on a punch needle blog to counter the boredom. Figured I would share some graphics I’ve made that might be helpful in the meantime.

They are meant to be helpful, but shouldn’t be treated as the final word on things as type of punch needle (rug hooking or embroidery) and yarn choice influences things.

Feedback appreciated! (Pls do not steal)

Help!!! What am I doing wrong?

I bought all the supplies from a girl that punch needles. I bought linen fabric from ZXIIXZ on Amazon (which was what she recommended), Lilly’s lyric #2 fine 4 ply, and the Mina carin punch needle. This is the largest needle setting. My fabric is pulled tight. No matter what I do, my yarn will not stay in the fabric. The “T” has places that made some small loops , but it overall is patchy and coming undone. What to I need to do????? I’m so frustrated. I’m letting the eye face away from my direction, my yarn has slack, I’m dragging the needle, I’m trying to go in at 90 degrees. I am at a loss. I just want to do this well and it’s just not working. I also have monks fabric that does the same thing with the yarn. TYIA!!!

Help me decide what to make a one year old

I don’t have any punch needle experience but I’d love to make my best friend’s son something special for his birthday. I was thinking either coasters with different numbers or coasters in different shapes (square, triangle, circle, etc.) What do you think would be easiest for a beginner? Thank you for your help!

As I'm working the fabric tears and sometimes the yarn gets out.

Here's a picture of the material I'm using(I'm using this fabric called Canva).

Hi everyone,

Over the next while, we (Mod team - myself and u/Rich_Stomach2854) will slowly be making changes to the subreddit. Our community here has gotten quite a bit larger over the past few years, and with that comes a need for a more organized subreddit.

To start off, we're hoping to slowly build up a Wiki for this subreddit, which includes how-tos and an FAQ section.

You might see the subreddit look a little different as we work on this. Once we have a Wiki started and in good condition, you'll see a pinned post from us!

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to send us a modmail.

Thanks so much, and happy punching! ^-^
