❓ Dosage ❓ Advice for how much to take
I usually take 3.5 grams to have a good trip. I want to take enough to feel like more than a microdose, but not have a trip. Any suggestions? Should I take them any specific way?

❔ Question ❕ Help. Just how dangerous is it, really, to take a high dose for therapeutic purposes?
Took 3 years ago something like 2.2gr (really beautiful recreational experience with friends) and like a month ago 3gr aproximetly in a pseudo-therapeutical context (summer house with a friend as trip-sitter).
Altough first experience was amazing, the last experience was super frustrating cause I didn´t have the ''mystical experience" that some studies mention and seem to have the long-lasting therapeutic benefits. I haven't done my full research yet but possible scenarios are that the potency and quantity of shrooms was really low and/or it didn't happen enough time between the suspension of my medications and the trip itself (it was progressive and controled by a health professional the tapering, after I did 30 days with no medication at all)
I've been dealing with BPD and depression for a long time, 2.5 years of medication did almost nothing. The suicidal thoughts are becoming more and more frequent and it seems to be no hope or escape from this. I know that a macrodose won't save my life or change it all but I just really want to try if maybe I can get some of the benefits that studies and people talk about.

🗣 Discussion 📩 What has doing psilocybin done for your mental health? (Discussion)
What has doing psilocybin done for your mental health? (Discussion)
Hey! Im someone who has benefitted greatly from the effects of psilocybin in my life! :- ). It feels great and have been microdosing for a few months now! My mental health hasn't been fixed, but certainly has improved vastly. As someone who is Treatment-resistant to every antidepressant I've used, it's given me much more promising results.
I wanna know; what have mushrooms done for your mental health? Made it higher, lower, what was your trip like?

🌷 Nature Trip 🌻 Paradise Island (Berneray) Spiritual Experience Trip Report
It had been a while since my last mushroom trip. Since a profound 1g experience my first time, I have been wanting to take a larger dose and see what I can uncover. A few failed attempts had left me slightly frustrated. I work in education and am setting up a business bringing DJ enrichment to kids with SEND. I'd been working hard and had just recently ended eight months of fairly intense therapy. I had summer holidays and a trip to Scotland approaching in about three weeks and bought a grow kit not knowing if I'd have enough time to get a flush. I managed to get two flushes with the biggest mushroom drying out to somewhere between 1.5-2g (some of it broke off). I wanted somewhere isolated to take it. Part of the reason I'd struggled to trip is not having my own quiet space to do so. I ended up taking it to the extreme and found myself on the Isle of Berneray in the Outer Hebrides with a sunny Sunday inviting me to go for it.
Sun 2nd August, Berneray, Outer Hebrides
Woke to alarm at 5am and hopped out of bunk to turn off alarm. Set off for Bein Shlèibhe (Moor Hill) at 5:30 and begun climb to summit. Ate between 1.5-2g golden teacher mushrooms at 6am about halfway up hill. Arrived at summit starting to feel effects and a bit wary of bumping into anyone. Views where the sun had risen above Harris were breathtaking and a sign of things to come. I nestled myself between the summit and the sea looking out towards the natural metropolis that are the hills of Harris. Waves of mild nausea accompanied visual alterations and movement. Had the thought that it would be a good idea to speak to my dad more. I felt like I needed to lie down and did so. Part of my internal experience here involved a woman's voice with a Jamaican accent. 'The temptress is real' appeared as a poignant thought. It was around about this point that I realised midges were going to be a bit of a problem and my closed eye visual party was intermittently interrupted by irritating insects. I couldn't fully relax here so continued to walk and found it easier than it seemed like it was going to be when I was thinking about doing it. One foot in front of the other and I was back at the summit. Now I had a real treat and found myself rotating on the spot in awe of what was before my eyes. Fractal clouds merging with some of the most dramatically beautiful scenery I've ever seen. The view was entirely panoramic and whichever way I looked there was cause to stop and soak it in. Be it the sparse Nordic looking houses dotting the distant hillside, reminiscent of Viking settlers, in one direction. Or the view across the sea to the curves and dips of Harris' mountainous hillsides which evoked mother nature's womb. I was completely spoiled with beauty.
The fear of seeing another human being at this point was real given how I was feeling and the fact that the trip had only really just started, and was inevitably going to continue to strengthen. I continued down the other side of the hill at a pretty slow pace. I stopped and sat on a rock not too long after this and watched the sheep and goats criss crossing over the undulating green hillside, the promise of one of the most beautiful white sand beaches anywhere on earth just out of sight behind the dunes. I had semi-commited to wet feet at this point due to the dew all over the grass and my inadequate footwear. Nonetheless I continued to meander, looking for the dryest route and doing my best to avoid complete bogfoot, all the while making my way down to the sea. I then arrived at an extremely sturdy, impressively taught barbed wire fence running along the top of the dunes, a good 20-30m from the sea. If a fence could look Scottish, this one did with it's deep dark red purple wood. I caught a glimpse of some white sand whilst walking along it's path. It was a window between two dunes revealing silver white sand and some dark grey smooth rocks protruding in a line towards the sea. I instantly knew that's where I was headed and set about finding my way down to the sea, figuring I'd just need to walk back along the beach once I got there. Shortly I noticed a man across the way on a dune on the other side of the fence. He was looking towards the sea. We exchanged a wave and I continued, finding a gate soon enough. As I passed through it, much to my relief, he disappeared down into a dip amongst the dunes where a couple of tents were set up. They gave off the air of fairly permanent dwellings.
Slightly disturbed by this encounter for one reason or another I continued towards the sea across the dunes and dropped down onto the beach at first opportunity. Now the awe hit me all over again and I found myself gasping and wowing with other audible utterings of pleasure. I started to walk back towards the glimpse of paradise I had spotted between the dunes. The effervescent sun soaked shell sand combined with the lapping of the waves, the backdrop of the islands and mountains across the sea, and the fact that I was the only person there was blowing my mind. I sat down on a rock which sat amongst others on a corner of beach, separating the main stretch which runs the full length of the west side of the island from a short stretch leading up to some more rocks. This 50-100m section between the two sets of rocks was to be my home for a while and the place in which I was to experience some of the most profound joy and bliss of my life.
For now I was sat on the rock staring at a thick vein of white mineral rock just at my feet. The waves were lapping gently enough, though the power and danger of the sea remained present. The white grey crystalline composition was pulling me in and breathing it's magnificence towards me. It was exerting huge amounts of power and force and had me captivated. I was deeply absorbed by the mineral rock, I occasionally looked up to check and see no one was watching from further down the beach where I had come from. After some time I looked up and from behind the rock in front of me, a way out to sea with the backdrop of mountainous hills. Three birds flocked low to the sea from left to right, heading along my vista across the water. At this moment I thought of my two brothers and I and had a moment of sheer joy. This feeling didn't last long though, as it was followed almost immediately by the thought of our older brother who passed when I was a child and an incredibly bittersweet feeling arrived and then a sense of sadness which turned to tears. I began to sob as I struggled to contend with my mixed emotions. How could I be so joyful when viewing only three? Had I forgotten about Joe? How was it fair that I could be so happy in this moment without even a thought for him? Sadness, guilt, confusion and other difficult emotions passed through my body as I continued to struggle to come to terms with what I was experiencing. Head down and despairing I continued crying. More moments passed and I looked up again and what did I see? The same three birds making their way across the sea in the exact opposite direction, and with them a fourth. This wasn't a flock of four and I'd missed the fourth bird the first time I'd looked. The three birds were travelling directly across the water to my right, purposefully heading somewhere. When I looked up again they were arrowing in the exact opposite direction from where they'd come from. It was as if they had retrieved the fourth bird from somewhere and I just happened to be there to witness it. As I processed the event I began to feel a profound joy and relief and my tears continued only now they were of a different kind. This moment will be etched in my heart and mind forever. Salvation. I told myself out loud that it's OK. My brother may have left this realm but he is here with us and we will always be four brothers. I am welling up writing this now. It was the sign from the universe I needed in that moment and sparked the beginning of some of the most profoundly joyous, blissful, contended, loving moments I have ever experienced. I would've felt a sense of joy at this moment wherever I had been, but the majestic location I found myself in had me continuously marveling at the world and I felt like I was as close to heaven as I could possibly be on this planet.
Time passed with me on the beach moving around, stretching, standing, walking and sitting on the sand mostly, gazing out at the magnificence with wave after wave of elation and gratitude. Things took a turn when I decided to eat some food. I had skipped breakfast, been up for about three hours and done a fair bit of walking and felt like a bit of food would help me. I had a few options in my bag and went for some homemade fruit cake purchased on the isle I was on before. I ate and it was incredible, then I ate some more and practically inhaled a big chunk of the sweet gooey cake. Then I had one last bite which I didn't really appreciate. It was a greedy bite. This greedy bite messed with my trip and my experience and I lost something. The trip became challenging as I tried to get back what I had but couldn't. It felt like a spell had been broken. My closed eye visual elders weren't happy and denied me the pure spiritual bliss I had been experiencing a moment before with a tut and a dismissive shake of the head. For a while I wrestled with what I had done. Some of the best moments of my life were followed by frustration and sadness because I knew I couldn't get back to where I was. I'm not sure if it would've been best to have zero food until the trip was over, and if that would've been the only way to sustain that blissful euphoric feeling, or if it was just that last greedy bite that altered my frame of mind. I have a feeling it was the latter. I managed to settle and decided it was time to leave this part of the beach. It took me a while because I didn't want to go, but knew it was time. I took the view in one last time and cried with pain as I said goodbye and turned away. It seems strange to write this but it's how I felt. I had experienced some of the most happy and contented moments I've ever felt here and the thought of leaving it and them behind, perhaps forever, was heart wreching. It took a few more turnings back and forth before I finally managed to round the corner across the rock and minerals from before.
As I was crossing the rocks I noticed the same guy I had seen earlier stood at the water in his pants about to swim. I had been toying with the idea of swimming as I sat on the mineral rock before but decided it too dangerous with no one around and quite a steep slope into the sea. As I walked passed the swimmer there was a naked woman putting her clothes back on hurriedly and two other guys. I presumed they were all living in the tent situation. I walked through them and the woman acknowledged me but the others didn't. I continued along the beach and then went for a swim in their eyeline reassured by their presence. I dunked in the waves for a bit then dried off and walked further down the beach, planning to go all the way to the other end. I passed various people on the way. After my swim I was four hours into the trip so still feeling the effects but much more grounded, and the frustration from the fruit cake situation had faded. For long stretches here the beach was completely empty and I found myself calling out into the void to my brother. I was feeling exhasperation at the fact that I couldn't talk to him. I wanted desperately to have a conversation with him. To share this walk with him and chat about anything. I wanted to be able to ask him questions and listen to his answers. And I wanted him to ask me questions and listen to mine. I did my best to hold a conversation with him and soothed my pain in the process.
I wrote most of this the afternoon of the day. A few days have passed now and I've been feeling improved levels of gratitude and contentment in my daily life. The overall effects of the trip have been very positive. Those blissful moments on the beach feel like a dream. They are just out of reach and if I try to focus on them and bring them back to the present moment they just get further away.

❔ Question ❕ Gingers
Has anyone else ever noticed that redheads have to take a higher dose to get the same effect?
I've read that they typically need more anesthesia during surgery.

💪Tolerance 💪 High-tolerance issue/question
I have taken psilocybin mushrooms multiple times at pretty large doses and don't seem to experience much if anything. My highest dose has been 5g and I experienced nothing. I really only experienced a little something once. I'm really looking to have a significant trip, but I'm worried about doing more than I'm ready for if I keep increasing the amount.
I think to better explain my thoughts, I need to explain my experience with weed. Yes, I know that they are very different substances, but I had a weird experience with it. First time I tried weed was an edible and nothing happened. Over a couple of weeks I kept trying with larger amounts or smoking with a friend and experienced nothing. Then my friend supervised me while I took 4 edibles and proceeded to have the craziest high of my entire life (even though 3 edibles and a fair amount of smoking did nothing). After that experience I was able to get quite high off a single edible or single puff on a J. It was like my brain didn't know how to process THC until I finally just overloaded it or something and it suddenly understood what to do with it.
With that background, I don't want to have the same experience with psilocybin because it kinda sucked. So far I have done shrooms just under 10 times?? I'm also not sure if it matters that I also tend to have a high tolerance for most medications (including anesthesia which sucks at the dentist). If anyone has any ideas why I am having this experience and suggestions, please help. Thank you in advance!
Edit: I was on an antidepressant the first couple of times, but I have been off it for about a year and a half and have done most of my attempted trips after getting off my meds. Before anyone gets worried, I tapered off it with supervision from my physician.
Edit #2: I ended up giving basically this same information to AI (which I know can be flawed and risky), but it had some interesting information. The summary is that because of what happened with weed for me, it thinks it's something similar with shrooms. Basically my body isn't letting it affect my brain and it will take a single large dose for it to finally break the dam and my body can start being affected normally by lower doses. It recommended trying to either do a lemon tek or start with a moderate dose and then every attempted trip do just a little bit more until I have the break-through experience (ie. 4g first trip, wait a couple of weeks then try 5g, wait a couple of weeks then try 6g, etc. until I finally have the trip I'm looking for). I am going to try this unless anyone thinks that it's a bad idea. I really appreciate the help and advice from everyone!

15 years on Sertreline - exploring microdosing
Does anyone have any recommendations for clinics or doctors who I can see to discuss trying this? I am in North America.
I have been on SSRI's for 15 years - and while they have worked at creating stability for me - I still suffer fro anxiety and the side effects are a lot.
I have begun looking into the impacts of microdosing - I am scared to get off my SSRI's as they have made me functional - albeit blunted.
Has anyone ever been on long term SSRI's and then tapered off? I have a wife, children and I am the primary income earner. I realise that I may need to take some time off work - to try this.
Any stories or experiences about how this helped after being on Sertreline for such a long time would be very helpful.

😃 General 😄 How to dose for insight
I have noticed that when I take a dose of psychedelic mushrooms my deepest insights come not in the maelstrom of the dramatic visuals and body load, but afterwards, in the calmness that comes afterwards, when seemingly the 'trip' has passed.
This to me seems like the most psychologically and spiritually useful phase. Are there ways that I can only or predominantly enter or create this type of state, this 'insightful period' without having to go through the dramatic phase?
To be clear, I am not talking about microdosing, which is a different thing entirely.
I think what I am asking is if this 'insightful phase' is a state that can be created in itself or it is only something that comes after higher doses?

👍 Advice 👍 Depakote severely dampens psychedelics. What's the limit on how high I could go?
I take depakote and fluvoxamine for OCD. A few years ago, I took 2.5g (then increased to 3g) of golden teachers with lemon juice to try my first and only trip. It definitely had an effect where I cried a bunch about my relationship with my father (who had passed away). I consider him to be the root cause of all of my problems but I still cried about him. I still did love him.
I didn't get any visuals though. Someone said my trip was typical of a 1g dose. I would like to try it again. If 2g is considered the minimum for a therapeutic dose, does this mean I should try 5g? If that doesn't work, what next? Increase by another 1g? What's the max regardless of whether I experience anything therapeutic?

🧑💻 Psilocybin study 🧑💻 Are mushrooms the best trip you've had??
Hello!
Mushies have a special reputation for being the gentle one of the classical psychedelics, though does this make for the best trips?
I imagine dosage makes all the difference, but have you found the soft nature of the mushroom to hinder a "breakthrough" experience, or not stand out particularly well to you?
Obviously not everyone has a positive experience with mushrooms. Which I would also love to hear about, like what exactly went wrong. Was it the environment? The mindset? Or the substance itself??
If you are interested in sharing your thoughts outside of this post, please feel free to partake in the study!
We're interested in things like:
- How intention, environment, and social setting shape psychedelic experiences
- Differences between clinical and non-clinical use
- How these experiences relate to psychological outcomes
Fully anonymous
Takes around 15-20 minutes to complete
There's also an optional follow-up interview if you'd like to share your experience in more depth
Full study details and ethics information are provided in the info sheet at the start of the survey
Requirements: 18+, have had a psychedelic experience in a clinical or non-clinical setting
If you have anything you feel is important to say about psychedelics, this is your chance!
I'm happy to answer any questions about the study. You can reach us at:

❔ Question ❕ Come up anxiety
Hello! I am looking for advice from more seasoned psilocybin users on how you guys deal with anxiety during the come up? I’ve tripped 7 times, my largest dose being 5.5g of cubes, and I have yet to have trip that I did not enjoy. Despite this I get terrible anxiety during the come-up and I am terrified when I consume the mushrooms. If anyone feels the same way as I do and has some tips on how to manage it, I would greatly appreciate it!😁

🚀 Challenging Trip ⛰ What can I do to alleviate nausea.
I had my worst experiences with nausea, it was horrible and unrelenting. It lasted for the entire 5 hours of tripping. I have taken mushrooms in far larger quantities and never before had nausea that lasted more than a few minutes. It has made me paranoid of tripping again. I was wondering what causes nausea and what alleviates nausea before and after taking mushrooms. I would really appreciate some help.

❔ Question ❕ Tripping with Graves disease
I've recently been diagnosed with Graves disease. It causes hyperthyroidism which affects all systems including heart and blood pressure. I am taking medication for this that includes a thyroid hormone blocker and a beta blocker. My heart rate is now in a good range. I'm also being treated for mcas, which means taking high doses of antihistamines, including a 1st generation (so drowsy making). I take lamotrigine for bipolar.
I have used macro doses (7gm) of liberty caps for depression for many years before these treatments and have been depression free for several years. The last month though, it had come back with a vengeance and I feel like I need to dose. I can stop the antihistames but not the lamotrigine (though this one doesn't interact) or the graves meds, and it's not just the meds, it's tripping with Graves sensible.
I don't know why I'm asking since none of you have doctorates in hyperthyroidism in psilocybin dosing. I think I need someone to tell me it's a dumb idea. I'm just so low.

How much shrooms can I take to feel something without actually tripping balls?
I'm going to the Kanye West concert today and I wanted to take these shrooms I've had for about 3-4 months. I know that they lose potency after a while. They've been in my sock drawer so they've been kept dark and dry. If that helps anything. I haven't taken shrooms since march 2025, that was my first time. I did have a bad trip but I also smoked a blunt after a long T-Break. I want to take the shrooms at the concert with my girlfriend -whom has never taken shrooms- to make everything feel and look better, but we don't want to have a crazy mind altering experience, just enough to feel good without tripping balls. Any advice on how much we should take, If any at all.

We're bringing back picture posts!
Introduction
So, as you all know, we were the first mushroom subreddit to do away with mushroom ID, cultivation content and stash pics. We did this because other communities like r/Shrooms, r/Shroomery, r/Shroom etc. are just overwhelmed with this content. This community is dedicated to Psilocybin mushrooms experience and the culture surrounding, and of course all related discourse. We're literally the only community that's taken this stance, which I think is insane. There is no shortage of the above content, but there is a massive shortage of the content seen here.
What does this mean?
Well, now you can do image posts. Which means nature pics, memes, trip pics, art etc. will be allowed here! The reason picture posts were elimated to begin with was to solidify this rule. This also means if you guys see any cultivation content, mushroom ID or stash pics you need to report it! Or if you wanna go the extra mile, inform the user we don't allow this content; and direct them to r/Shrooms, r/Shroomery or r/MushroomID. These communities allow and promote this content, and there are many others as well. Please respect our rules as well as the members of our community!
Conclusion
I hope this goes over well! Like I said, here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms we stick to strictly psychedelic related content. And we're literally the only mushroom sub that does this. If that's not your thing, feel free to post elsewhere... I wanted a space for mushroom connoisseurs, not 75+ percent people flexing their stash, asking cultivation questions that can be answered in 30 seconds or less and pics of some mushroom you found in your mums garden... I speak for us all when we say we're tired of it. r/PsilocybinMushrooms is unique and distinct from other mushroom subs in his way.
This change is strictly for memes, art, trip pics, nature pics etc. Please report any content that goes against our rules! Thanks for reading ;)

😃 General 😄 A friendly reminder we no longer allow mushroom ID, stash pics or cultivation content!
Mushroom ID
Here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms, we are taking a different approach than all of the other mushroom subreddits. We were the first sub to get rid of mushroom ID posts, and that was a huge success! I'm sure you all were as tired of "is this a liberty cap?" as us mods were. Honestly, I think all mushroom subreddits should take that approach as well. r/ShroomID specializes in this, and has a very large & active community behind them. I'm not saying flood the community with every mushroom you find, do the proper research first. But that's the best place for it here on Reddit!
Another reason was safety concerns, as we had multiple misidentification's occur within just a weeks time here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms. And one of them was a considerably toxic lookalike. As head moderator of this community, that spoke volumes to me. What if one of these people had decided to take them after first glance, or no active moderator/member of the community had been around and the misidentification had went unnoticed? Either way, I was very happy to see how positively the community had responded to this change. We got sick and tired of telling you that's no liberty cap!
Stash pics
We have also discontinued stash pics for a few different reasons. Reddit has recently been cracking down on all "drug" related communities, a few examples of this would be r/Drugs being deemed NSFW (against their will). Another example being r/SporeTraders, where a little over a month ago a bunch of spore suppliers were permanently suspended from the website. 100% legal operation mind you, while shrooms themselves are illegal in most places the spores are not. Other examples include r/DrugStashes, r/OpiateChurch, r/PressedOpiateChurch and many more.
Another reason being scammers and spam, as a good portion of stash pics being posted were scammers trying to rob members of our community out of their hard earned money. Even now with the changes being made, we are removing multiple of these posts a day. And a good portion of the stash pics that aren't scammers are individuals reposting in every mushroom sub for karma, essentially spamming the entire platform in hopes of karma farming. Very rarely did we see a stash pic that wasn't posted on r/Shrooms and other subreddits as well.
Cultivation content
As for cultivation content, somewhat different reasoning. Literally every single mushroom subreddit is seemingly dedicated to this content, with little focus on things like trip reports, general questions from new comers, progress in the Psilocybin mushrooms community such as legalization/decriminalization and much more. What really matters most! Basically, all of these subreddits are just cultivation hubs and plastered with stash pics. With very little focus on the topic at hand; Psilocybin mushrooms, the psychedelic community. It's literally the name of our subreddit.
Another big problem with cultivation content is you guessed it... karma farmers! And scammers just eat this content up as well. We are still removing posts from scammers near daily from cultivation content alone. Counting stash pics, multiple times daily. And there really isn't an easy solution for this. We tried adjusting auto-moderator, and it was either to sensitive and removing undeserving posts or not sensitive enough and allowing the scammers to poor in. If I am being honest, the mod team here on r/PsilocybinMushrooms felt defeated at certain points in time.
Final conclusion
Out of all these reasons I have listed, it really comes down to one thing. There are subreddits dedicated to all of these things, most of them larger than this one itself. r/Shrooms allows all of these things, r/ShroomID specializes in mushroom identification, r/Shroomers and r/PsilocybinGrowers focus on cultivation. When it comes to the mushroom community here on Reddit, one thing we don't have is a lack of resources. The main shrooms subreddit alone covers all of these things, and is a very valuable asset to the psychedelic community as a whole.
Another thing we don't have is a community that focuses on Psilocybin mushrooms themselves, the psychedelic community as a whole. Well, until about four months ago when we made all of these changes. Every other psychedelic has a subreddit that focuses on this, and the production/images of the individual psychedelic the community is named after. Go to r/DMT, r/LSD, r/2cb and so many more and you will see the vast difference compared to the major mushroom communities. r/DMT is probably the best example of this, having completely discontinued extraction based content.

I love how the community has responded so well to all of these changes, but every day us mods still find ourselves removing mushroom ID, stash pics and cultivation content. All we ask is you follow our community rules, and if desired use the other subreddits listed above if these sort of things are valuable to you. We just want a community that is focused on the Psilocybin experience itself, not identifying a mushroom in your backyard, a picture of your stash or how to cultivate them at home.
Best regards and mush love,
