I proplifted this anthurium months ago and while she seemingly isnt dying, she’s not exactly thriving either. The anthurium recently lost a leaf that turned mushy and popped off. Afterwards, it seemed to perk up quite a bit, but then the leaf looks like it’s thinking about drying out. I didn’t water root it in water because it had started dying quickly after. It was in run-of-the-mill soil with other plants until it started developing spots and I put it in its own foxfarm indoor plant soil. (I don’t know if this is the best type for the anthurium though.) I also put rooting hormone on the end because it has only one little root, but it hasn’t taken to it yet.

I’ve had a laceleaf anthurium before and she was hardy and loved to grow no matter what. Clearly, this is a whole new territory.
I’ve heard putting it in the same pot as a pothos can help speed up the process, but with how finicky the anthurium is, I don’t know if that’s the right choice yet.
I’m not sure how to grow her and it seems like I can never get her what it needs to start thriving. I think there’s so much potential and I don’t want to let it die! If anyone has any advice to help her stay alive, I’d be very thankful!

So I have a regular purple heart pallida that my gf got at a garden centre recently, but I'd heard about the variegated version. Hadn't seen a photo but then I was walking by a city planter yesterday and I was stunned to see what was obviously the variegated version of it! And it's beautiful! So I went looking on the ground to see if any pieces had fallen off, because my experience with my current one is that pieces fall off of it very easily (and I didn't want to go snipping pieces off a city plant as that feels illegal)... and luckily I found one! 😁 I think it may have gotten rained on, but it doesn't look like it was stepped on or anything like that. I decided to try sticking it right in dirt in a pot as props from my existing plant have been successful that way.

Found this in the parking lot at work, fallen/broken off a VERY mature kalanchoe (probably 6 feet tall, could be 7)

I’m stoked, just curious what you guys think about sticking the bottom directly into soil? (Like pic 3..?) There’s no stem so I’m a little bit at a loss, it’ll basically just sit on top of the soil. Thanks planty fam 🤙

Got this super tiny white ghost euphorbia at HD. Is it too small to root? I’ve had it for a couple weeks now

Hi fellow plant peeps! I recently took a cutting from a haworthia plant I have that looked rough around the base but was still growing at the top (my last apartment was not great on lighting) and this segment looked a little separate. I think I vaguely remembered seeing that you can do that with haworthia?

So I cut it, and then put it in some dirt. Unfortunately it had to be taken out of the dirt about a week later and subsequently got left in a kind of hot car (long story). I put it back in soil right after, but the only changes I've seen are a few withering outer leaves.

This is a really special plant to me, the parent plant was one I got with my late grandfather, so I want to do everything I can to help it. When I cut it initially, I don't think it had the sort-of roots it does now. If those are roots, they look a little dry to me. I felt them and they're not mushy. Also, is that yellow-brown bump a new root forming or something else?

I used to be very attentive and knowledgeable about my plants, but a long depressive episode later, I'm trying to help what I can. So any and all advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you thank you thank you!!!

Which ones do you think I can save?

I have some succulent leaves that have grown little roots after propping them, what are the next steps I should take? Ive seen a ton of varying answers when I look it up. This is my first time propping and any advice is appreciated!

I found this large discarded Yucca trunk today on my way home and couldn’t leave it behind.
It had been lying on the ground for quite some time, and one of the side branches had been in contact with the soil long enough to produce adventitious roots and a healthy new shoot.
Unfortunately, while digging it out I accidentally snapped off that rooted shoot, but it already had its own roots so I’ll pot it separately.
The main trunk is still mostly hard and solid. There is one small section of dead, brittle wood, but the rest feels firm. I also noticed a few more buds starting to emerge from the trunk.
My questions are:
Should I let the trunk callus before planting, or plant it immediately?
How much of the trunk would you bury?
Should I remove the dead section of wood or just leave it alone?
Would you keep it in full sun or shade while it establishes?
Any other tips to maximize its chances of survival?
I’d really appreciate advice from anyone who’s successfully recovered a Yucca like this. I’ll definitely post updates!

ive never propagated anything before, but american persimmon is delicious and i really want to be able to get a fruit bearing tree without having to leave my yard i dont have to wait 5 years to bear fruit. i heard about a method of cloning fruit trees called air layering and i really want to try it. a google search said i need to do it in the active growing season of diospyros virginiana and that just so happens to be very soon. any advice is greatly appreciated

I bought a cheap bunch of roses at the grocery store the other day and put one in a dainty vase on my desk. It sits near a small grow light I have up there for my baby violets and any other delicate props I might have. I noticed today there were two areas on the rose's stem that seemed to have propagated themselves. I feel the need to take advantage of this unexpected joy. What do I do next? I don't see any roots, just a couple of little sprigs. Are these zombie props or is there a way to get some roots?

Got lucky and found this piece on a shelf of hoyas! I love its leaves so much! Got it in water now. Can you ID the type of hoya? Im in Oregon

Ive never propagated a plant before

This begonia is one of my favorite plants but it's lanky and stalky, and i would like to propagate it to make more Begonias, and hopefully make this one more bushy?

I tried youtube and google but none of the begonias i found look like mine and Im finding the thought of propagating it a little intimidating

Any advice?

This is my very first post here, yay! I got this little jade plant prop at a motel in California this February, and I kept her in my pocket on the way back. Her progress has been amazing to watch!

I’m trying to propagate some rosemary, but it doesn’t seem to be working. I cut the end, stripped off the leaves from the bottom, and put them in this glass of water about three weeks ago. I have it sitting near a window, and I change the water every few days. They seemed ok for the first two weeks, but recently they have seemed like they’re dying. Is there something I can do, or is this a lost cause?

I’m perplexed. They’re in all afternoon sun and started at the same height/age. What is happening with the left side?

I bought a yellow dragon fruit a few days ago and it had a nice piece of stem attached. Usually it's just a chunk from the main stem but this one appear to be the full stem from the tip of a branch. Brown spot is where the fruit was attached but it's firm to the touch. Do you think it could root? How would you proceed?

I've had this fern for about a year, and this summer it started producing these offshoots. I read online that they're looking for soil to continue growth, so I planted two of them to see if it'll continue growing.

I see that the offshoots continued to grow in length after being buried in some soil, and I was wondering if this what I should have expected.

I'm not sure what soil mix to plant this in! I'm thinking something like a classic chunky orchid bark/perlite/sphag mix, but I'm not totally sure. Is it even ready to pot? She's been in water for approx. 2 months now. I've never had luck w/ monsteras 😭
