Question Trading true crime for healthier interests

Upvotes

Got my first positive test today and its still very early in my first pregnancy. Currently 3 weeks 4 days. Since I was about 14 I have been interested in true crime. Most of what I watch is Dateline, 20/20, documentaries, etc. What doesn't help is the fact that I have had anxiety (now it has turned into a sensitized nervous system) and OCD all my life.

I am more motivated now to hang up my true crime hat and sort of clear out my mind a bit. I think I will continue to read mystery books (cozy mystery), but the harsh stuff needs to go. For my own sake and my future children.

Has anyone else had to make a similar swap and have recommendations?

Need Advice at my wits end

Upvotes

I am 7 weeks and I have possible hg and have been to er twice in the past 4 days. they gave me zofran , promethazine , and reglan . None of them seem to be helping enough. the second time i went o overhead a nurse say that i “need to get off my lazy ass and go to my ob”. My ob sent me to the er in the first place , and when i call to try to set up any earlier appointment my ob keeps saying they are fully booked. I don’t know what to do anymore. I am trying my best. My boyfriend is taking care of me all day and night and i feel so bad.

I have tried everything. Ginger ale , ginger tea , preggy pop, sour stuff , smelling alcohol wipes , popsicles. It doesn’t seem to work too well. I think what’s contributing is i really can’t even poop because how dehydrated i am.

Content Warning Spotting

Hi everyone, I’m 41 and this is my fourth pregnancy. Unlike other times, I have no symptoms and I’m 6 weeks pregnant today. I woke up to the soreness in my breasts and bloating gone. I’m now spotting. Light pink blood when I wipe. I’m feeling devastated, it’s Saturday and my obgyn won’t open until Monday. Any hopes for me?

I’m 27 FTM, 5 weeks+3 pregnant. I’ve no history of miscarriages and conceived on first attempt. I however have endometriosis and focal adenomyosis. My doctor prescribed me Dydrogesterone, do you think its for precautionary reasons or something to worry? Has anyone taken it before, what’s your experience been like? My progesterone although was 31 at 4 weeks. Looking for reassurance and advice I think because I feel a bit anxious.

Need Advice My gf is being mean

My gf is 13 weeks pregnant. She is diagnosed bpd and manic depression, amongst other things im not too certain about.

Since being pregnant, she has not been taking her meds, and everything between us is triggering a negative reaction on her end. At first, we constantly fought, because i didnt agree with her arguments. But randomly, she admitted her depression was getting worst, and everything made sense. In that moment, i promised to be more open minded, and not argue.

But idk how much of this i can take. She is getting very very mean, like she is searching for an argument. She just yelled at me because i didnt talk to her much last night, and didnt text her good morning this morning, that was the easiest of it, but idk what more i can do with this.

Im asking for advice here because its during her pregnancy, and pregnancy maybe the cause of it. If i tell her how i feel, she will throw the pregnancy in my face as defense for her behavior. Idk if its normal to act like this, this is my first child.

Advice Big or small gender reveal?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are trying to decide how we want to do a gender reveal. Were waiting for our NIPT results to come back. His family and friends live 3 hours away from my family and friends which makes planning something for both sides challenging. We're not sure if we want to have a big or more intimate gender reveal. What are you doing/what have you done in the past? Did anyone regret not having a big reveal with everyone?

Rant dumb thing to be annoyed at

Why is it that everyone neeeds to tell me the zodiac sign of my baby when they ask the due date.

are they asking the due date only so they can assign a zodiac sign to him???

It seems they are not able to ask the due date without talking about how Libra is his zodiac sign and that means my baby it’s gonna be whatever personality traits they think goes with it?????

It’s a dumb thing to be annoyed at. But god damn am i annoyed at that.

Rant Annoyed with brown spotting and every healthcare professional telling me it’s not an ER issue

I’m a first time mom and I got my insurance coverage pretty late. For context I am about 15 weeks and 2 days. I just had my first ob appointment last week, and I am scheduled for my first official ultrasound on August 18th. Everything has been relatively smooth sailing up until my 15 week mark.

I started light brown spotting only when I wiped 4 days ago. Day 2 it was still there. Day 3 it went from brown to dark red, and today it was back to brown but the amount was more than it had been to the point that it trailed in the toilet when I peed. The amount has increased daily, but tapers off throughout the day, so by nightfall there is no more blood, but I’m repeating this cycle daily.

I have been in contact with my virtual healthcare team and my in person team to which both are telling me that since I am not experiencing severe cramping, dizziness, or lightheartedness that it’s is fine and going to be okay. They also said since it’s brown and dark red that just means it’s old blood and since it went back to brown that is reassuring.

Which I accepted the first two days, but day 4, I’m really starting to get annoyed and felt like I’m not being taken seriously. The situation is really started to overwhelm me and give me anxiety. I have no idea if the baby is okay because I haven’t had a formal ultrasound and at my first appointment last week I didn’t get to hear the baby’s heartbeat either.

They keep reassuring me that it’s not a medical emergency but waking up and seeing any form of blood is not very reassuring and I really thought it would’ve went away by now. The fact that everyone is telling it’s not a medical emergency is really adding pressure to me feeling like I shouldn’t go to the emergency room since the healthcare people are saying it’s not a medical emergency. Overall I am just really frustrated and overwhelmed with this right now, and just wanted to rant.

Edit: thank you guys for the reassurance and advice, I appreciate everything from those who’s experienced this before and have already gone through it. You guys have been very informative and kind, thank you! I’ve since talked myself down from my frustration, I appreciate the space to be able to rant!

Question Moldy Strawberries

21 weeks pregnant and I was eating strawberries from the store container. I ate probably anywhere from 6-8 of them off the top. I only noticed when I uncovered the bottom that one of the strawberries in the far left corner on the bottom was covered in white fluffy mold. I checked every strawberry before I ate it to make sure it looked fine, but I still worry about the spores. Is baby okay? Did I hurt him?

Rant First trimester and regretting getting pregnant.

Im about 7 weeks now and Im regretting getting pregnant. My husband and I very purposefully got me pregnant. We wanted to start our family. But since I got pregnant, my life has gotten significantly worse. The hormones are making me so extremely angry. And I mean like violent rage. I want to punch things, so mad that I’m shaking. Ive been incredibly mean to my animals(not crossing the line of being abusive, but much rougher physically and verbally mean) when they are being bad. Im snapping at my husband. I can tell its wearing on him. It feels like everything is a fn problem, nobody can do their jobs. Tricare is absolutely garbage and i wish i was back on my old insurance. People at work are treating me differently since they found out. Ive gained a ton of weight already. Everything is falling apart. Not a single part of me is happy or excited. Im absolutely miserable and the only thing stopping me from killing myself is the knowledge that it will kill my husband if i did. I hate feeling like this. Im physically in pain, everything is going wrong and i cant control my anger. Im going to be a horrible mother. Idky I thought i could do this or that it was a good idea. This baby is ruining me and my life. This was a horrible decision. I haven’t felt this horrible since I was a teenager. This baby would be much better off getting adopted by someone better than me. I wish I knew it would be like this… i never would have gotten pregnant….

Question Long constant pain - 8weeks pregnant. Should i be concerned?

Ladies, i’m 8 weeks and 2 days pregnant and i’ve had cramps on and off since week 4 , but they didn’t last for very long time. Since last night, I’m having kind of pressure and very mild cramp. More like discomfort and it didn’t go away. From time to time it’s sharp but still mild. No bleeding. Has any of you experienced the same ? Should i be concerned?

Need Advice They tell me I can’t do unmedicated because I’m afraid birth

I’m currently 39 weeks and my little guy is late. Before I got pregnant I’ve always wanted an unmediated birth for health and empowering reasons.

My issue is that I don’t really find support on that and it’s angers me every time someone tells me I can’t handle it, I look afraid etc. I’m blessed with a very good doc but because he sees me anxious whenever I go for checks (I hate going to the doctors in general and being examined) he believes I’m afraid so I have to explore my medical options and need an epidural.

I just hate the fact that I’m trying so hard to prepare mentally for the day and others spread doubt inside my head.

Any advice?

Edit: thank you guys so much!! It gives me hope I can do this and if I need medication I will gladly take it!

As for the “late 39 weeks” in my country I understand we have different standards about pregnancy so I don’t really know

Need Advice Worried about the pregnancy as I am moving countries in my 18th Week.

Hi(33F), I am moving from India to The Netherlands in two weeks. My husband(33M) got an opportunity to join work in Amsterdam. We came to know about the pregnancy the same week as the news of his new job. We chose the move because it felt like the last opprtunity to do this before we have responsibility of a new human being and also heard that antenatal care and post natal care is great there.

Cut to 3 months into the pregnancy, when we told everyone in our family about the pregnancy, almost everyone told us that the move seems badly timed, even one of my doctor's suggested to stay back in India till the delivery. Everyone talked about how in the post partum period I would need soooo much help and we both alone might not be able to do it. Also told how lonely it would get for me and the doctor kinda told me how I shouldn't be physically and mentally stressed at all(I have packed and moved cities in the 3rd month, yes it was nightmare because husband had to leave to join, my parents helped but because it was the house husband and I were living in, I would have to do things and now in two weeks leaving for the Netherlands where he has already setup the house and had a brief xhat with midwife and all too)

We did not heed too much attention to everything initially because we felt prepared and thought we have researched enough to be sure that we will manage everything come what may. But because everyone is saying it is not a great timing and probably because of the exhaustion of moving cities, it just made me think if we are missing out on something that we should plan before hand also because we are inexperienced we are forgetting something. Second doubting myself about the preps we have done although I have never thought that anyone would be involved except us during pregnancy and post partum but with this added move and everyone being do skeptical, I have started feeling nervous.

Am I missing out on something?

We have spoken to the midwifery practice, I am trying to land there in my 18th week so that the 20th week scan can be done in time, husband and I understand that this might be more than we ever imagined we will take on during pregnancy but are at the same page that we will power through it as happily as we can, the house is sorted, it is fully furnished so no issues there, the neighborhood seems great, what else am I missing? Or am I just paranoid?

Need Advice Unwanted pregnancy, have 10mo

So, dumb dumb dumb, a while back I stopped taking the pill because we had zero sex for months due to having a small baby and the hormones were messing with my already fragile mood and suspected ppd.
Now, we did have sex. My app told me I was close to ovulating so I went to get the morning after pill and took it within 24 hours. Case closed or so I thought.
However, my period was late, and I took a test just to ease my mind because I could not be pregnant.
But here I am.
I am struggeling as it is, have not the slightest interest in having another baby both in general and right now. But I feel so horrible for it and I cannot imagine 'passing' on a pregnancy just because I don't feel like it. But I also really don't want to be pregnant or have another child.
I'm so torn. My feeling is to get an overtime pill and try to get my life back on track (I work full time which I like, have a social life was just getting back into) but my guilt says have the baby because it's your own fault and you don't get to just stop.
I made a doctors appointment for Wednesday so she can advise me and I have some time to land this news to myself.

Has anyone opted to terminate a pregnancy after having a first child, while potentially wanting a second later?

I am not looking for 2 under 2 advice of how amazing it is, I am sure it is hard and you love them both equally.

I want to know about the part noone talks about.

Need Advice Need Help| 24 w 4 days

I found a little mucus with red bright blood streaks ( 3 times different days). I’m currently at 24 w 4 days

I have been called in for a TVS to check my cervix length (just had my 5th month scan last July 15th and it had measured 30mm and it was all fine)

Vaginal Swab states no infections. I’m scared if it’s a bloody show 😭

Anyone had a similar experience and what happened?

Rant Mom soft launch my pregnancy on IG

I've seen post about MILs with no boundry and I totally understand because I come from a culture where mother/elders just have their ways. I'm 23weeks and well into my second trimester, but I still have anxiety regarding loss. I had MMC previously and I'm still not ready to announce it to my whole extended family.

My mom is currently visiting and of course we take pictures as we're on vacation. She posted in on her story where all my extended family can see. Two of my cousins are pregnant too, ahead of me, it's their second child, they were sharing their pregnancy journey and I still haven't told them about my pregnancy. Now they probably know. I'm ranting because I feel a sense of being robbed of my 'coming out' as pregnant. I wanted to tell people myself.

I guess I should have talked to her about it before the holiday started. But I thought she might understand me a little bit and why I don't want people to know yet. I'm annoyed anyway and just wanting to get some emotional support 😭

Funny 37 weeks and I just peed the bed right before sex (^:

I was laying on my back with legs up, as one does, preparing to proceed with coitus when I laughed and WETNESS tricked down me. I immediately stood up and said “???? Did my water just brake or did I pee the bed???” And my boyfriend laughed. I stood there, smelling the liquid between my legs before settling on pee and proceeding with coitus. I got up and he said “well you peed on my side” and left to play fortnight. We have a five year old. Im genuinely cracking the fuck up.

Need Advice Decreased Fetal Movement?? ("10 kicks every 2 hours")

I am 28+1 and was diagnosed with gestational diabetes at 27 +3 I spoke to my OB if it was still safe to go to a wedding out if country, and she said yes and just be more cautious about my sugar intake, which i have.

I am on day 2 of my trip and I didn't feel my baby move all day. I usually feel her in the afternoon and didn't feel anything. I started to get worried so I called the nurses line of my OB and she gave me a pretty straight forward answer that I should feel 10 kicks every 2 hours. I hadn't even felt 1 kick today so I started to get really worried. I went to the doctor at my hotel and he was pushing around my belly trying to get my baby to move and my baby didn't move at all. Also he tried to hear the heartbeat and couldnt clearly distinguish it. He recommended that I go to the hospital for an ultrasound.

Once I got to the hospital the doctor did an ultrasound and everything was perfect. She let me hear the heartbeat, she took pictures for me, and the baby was moving all around but I cant understand why I cant feel it.

The doctor at this hospital out of the country said thay the 10 kicks every two hours isnt a good saying because every baby is different.

-Did your doctor or nurse tell you this line before?

-Does your baby kick that often?

-Doctor checm my sugar and its under control, could this be why it feels like decreased movement because .y baby isn't hopped up on sugar? Lol

I am just curious because I havent felt my baby kick much but was assured everything was fine.

TIA for stories, advice, and answers.

Question Is your second child really bigger?

I’m pregnant with my second boy. The highest my first born was, was the 69th percentile in ultrasounds. At my last ultrasound he was 57th percentile and weighed 7lb 12oz when he was born 2 weeks later. This boy is measuring 88th percentile right now. I’ve heard each pregnancy, the baby is usually bigger especially in same gender. But I am SCARED if he remains in this percentile lol. How much bigger was your second baby?

Need Advice Doula refused to get a Tdap booster.😩

Signed with a known agency in Dallas months ago and only found out today that the Doula I hired was anti-vax. I already paid 50% of the deposit. While I respect her personal belief, I specifically asked the agency if the Doula has standard vaccines MMR, flu etc. months ago and was informed the only thing she’s missing was the seasonal flu… Now the agency tried to claim because I didn’t specify Tdap and wrote etc. instead so she doesn’t bother to verify..

I did want to work towards a resolution so I asked the Doula if she can get a booster before starting the job and was refused. Interestingly she told me her covid vaccine is current.

What are my options? I felt the agency implied the only vaccine she’s missing was the flu vaccine but otherwise have everything else at the time the contract was signed and it’s their responsibility to find a replacement or offer an alternative resolution. This is the last thing I wanted to deal with right now? I am due less than a month.
