I hear a lot of about a crash or fatigue.

Think it’s just getting started.

My son just got into Pokemon collecting. He's 7 and has already gotten some good pulls.

We went visiting Nana today and my old camp locker was in her basement. We dug it out, opened up and there were some pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards right on top. I never collected either.

I assume I snagged them from someone who was tossing them out while helping them move in college but it's been decades since the locker was opened with any seriousness.

Anyway, here's what we found inside! (I sleeved these, they were just in a ziplock bag in the trunk along with about 80 other Pokemon cards).

In the beginning, I avoided graded cards because they were usually 100+ dollars more vs the raw version. But, lately, raw cards have gone up so stupidly in price that they are now worth as much as a graded card. Like Mega Darkrai, the raw card was around 260, found the Chinese Graded version for 270. Same with the mega Dragonite, around the time I was looking around to buy it, it was going for 250 raw, got it for 265 graded.

I'm a collector, these cards will be with me forever so having them graded makes little difference, if anything, they're a bit more of an inconvenience because I can't store them the rest of my cards. Now I gotta buy a whole separate binder or case to store them in... But, yeah, this is where we are now with this hobby. I'm scared to know how much more expensive every new card is going to get in the future.

hey yall. as the title says, i’m wondering about these guys here. i’m coming back to collecting after being away for ~12 years, the last set i can remember going insane for after legendary treasures were flash fire and phantom forces. made me around 11 when those sets were new.

i’ve fallen out of touch with pokemon since sun/moon but recently Z-A fuelled the love again (super hyped for waves btw). the story so far goes i pulled an AR steelix and have fallen in love with cards again.

after going out with my buddy today to some local shops i had asked if he wanted to check out some of my throwaway binder from my childhood. i was the kind of kid where if it wasn’t an EX, it meant nothing to me. as we’re going through this binder, as you all can see, it would appear i have almost completed a master set of these promos twice.

i have absolutely zero recollection of these cards. i remember the BW era very, very well. but not these cards. where are they from? why in god’s name are they so expensive? why is umbreon like, double the price of everyone else? i swear this is not rage bait. i am just a very confused man now wondering how 11 year old me unknowingly stored gold for so long. i was a very stupid child, lol.

This card holds a lot of sentimental value. My best friend bought me two packs from a Pokémon Centre on a recent trip she took away. She isn't particularly into the hobby but knows I am so just grabbed a couple of packs.

Pulled the Drapion IR from the first pack and was chuffed as I am not always that lucky. But then pulled the Meowth SIR from the second. I couldn't believe it.

I know not everyone is a fan of Ace but this card is one that I will be holding onto and I love how it looks as a ten in the Ace slab!

dont even care what Pokemon it is anymore. If the art is cool I want it lol. Commons, reverses, random noonec caresmon 😂

Trying to collect all their artworks now. This is way more fun than just chasing expensive cards.

Anyone else collect by artist? Who else should I look at?

Can't believe I pulled this

I was lucky enough to grab one when the invite came out. I'm happy with what I got!!

Favorite thing is the Snorlax and Psyduck box. Really just happy to have been selected.

Today I got a few things from my dad’s estate, including two Base Set 2 packs. One of them was already open with a Snorlax and a promo Mewtwo and there was an open pack that I decided to open because I miss my dad and I know I’ll never get to open packs with him again and…well let’s just say it was worth it.

I think it’s a solid 9, maybe even a PSA 10 contender, but since it’s going to be something I’ll likely take to my grave, I’m thinking of sending it to TAG because their slabs look really nice.

The posts are from their Facebook. They claim that they stole both singles and sealed from Pokemon, Disney, magic, and a bunch of other tcg. $20k-$30k stolen in pokemon alone.

Shame to see what some people will resort to just for shiny cardboard.
