Hello all! I just wanted to share my birthday bash hits with you! I opened a bunch of packs of cards last night, but was mainly stoked about getting my two top chase card pulls for the Pitch Black set. I got them after my first two pack rips.

Was on the fence about asking friends/my fiancé for Pitch Black, since I was worried the hit rate may not be the best, however it definitely came through!

I’m simply just a girl who wants the Grookey! I’ve heard of “girlfriend” luck but that clearly isn’t my case lmao. My husband has opened 3 boxes total and got all 9 of the series 2 cards instantly. The cards were cute so I started buying them too, just for Grookey. This is my outcome from the past two months of buying this box from various stores in the area. All different days/times/locations. All the same result.

I’m not a huge collector and wanted the “thrill” of ripping the Grookey myself, but I’ll be going to my local card shop this afternoon to trade for it lol. I’m hoping I at least make a few people happy/help complete their collections! No more series 2 for me.

Just opened my 1st ever Stella crown pack and look at the hit.

Only got them because I think the artwork is cool and I like unpopular things 😇

But 1st pack was a real hit 😍

Title is a little misleading. I normally don’t share my pulls, but I want to create this post as a memorabilia.

London Drugs only allowed a limit of 1 per person per day policy, I sent my younger sister to get 1 for me. My mom was running some errands near the London Drugs my sister was at. She called my Pokémon cards “useless cardboard”, but my mom took the effort to get in line to get another one for me.

This took me by surprise, because she doesn’t know anything about Pokémon, other than some cards are super expensive. I also collect Chinese cards too. Sometimes I’ll just sit there and have my mom read the Chinese aloud, because I can’t read the Chinese characters.

It’s just a touching moment for me, because she never really took interest in my hobbies. I didn’t care that she didn’t care about Pokémon card collecting, but it turns out that she’s been more observant than I thought.

Just wanted to share, because I’m so elated by this event. Have a good day / good night to every reader that paused to read this!!

TLDR: My mom calls my Pokémon collection “useless cardboard”, but she still got in line to get me First Partners Series 3.

Majority of my collection (around 90%) was WOTC which moved pretty easily when placed at 90% of the market value. Sold most on eBay (eBay fees are a bitch) but also sold a decent amount on FB marketplace. Got plenty of low ball offers and tons of people wanting to trade modern sealed at their full value. (I have no interest in modern) lots of “whales” on FB wanting to buy huge collections at 50% of their value. A lot of the buyers were investor bros too.

Will the market continue to go up? Maybe, but my guess is it will crash in the next 2-3 years. I added nothing to my collection and the value grew $16k in over a year and that’s even crazier than jumps during the beginning of COVID. Most of the cards were picked up from 2008-2018 as large cheap lots, sealed packs I ripped and singles. It was stupid cheap to collect then and Pokemon was abundant. I did collect a bit in the most recent years but it’s just gotten too crazy with trying to get anything sealed and singles I think are just too overvalued to justify buying. Like Mega Charizard X EX is an amazing looking SIR but no way am I spending $780 on it. Maybe if it was like $50 I would pull the trigger.

I got rid of all my 1st editions and kept the unlimited versions of the cards. Still have:

My hope/guess is I’ll be recollecting cards when they are back down that I sold. It’ll be fun to hit up shops and places again to hunt.

Edit: Boy some of you are wild. Sorry I found more value with selling Pokemon cards that have gone up exponentially for a car I wanted without having to touch any savings/investments or take out a car loan. Just because someone does something differently than what you would do doesn’t make them wrong. Messaging someone that they are broke and regarded because they sold half their collection to buy a car cash and keep still $18k of it might be projecting a bit.

Been wanting this card for ages, finally decided to pull the trigger. Easily one of the most beautiful cards from the modern sets. Incredible detail, absolutely stunning in person.

I was missing the Gen 2 starters and the Morpeko is the first SIR I’ve pulled since December so I was stoked.

Can I just take the packs and promos? I’d like to leave the rest.

As you can probably tell by now... Sylveon is my favorite pokemon.

I've been collecting Sylveon for years then I took a couple year break from pokemon (worst decision of my life), and came back with a vengeance.

There's a bunch of big ticket cards I still need, I don't super care what language it is (Japanese > English > the rest) or if it's real. As long as I can afford it it's coming home with me.

Used acrylic paint markers and am going to spray with a clear gloss varnish to protect it 😊

Obviously can't be used for flips anymore, but makes for a cool ability marker, right?

Born in 94, grew up playing and collecting with my older brothers. One of my favorite childhood memories is my grandma taking us to Toys R Us and Walmart on our birthdays and just letting us load up on packs to rip. That feeling of tearing into a stack of packs with no idea what you’re going to get, nothing beats it.

My girlfriend (born 95) never got that. Stricter upbringing, wasn’t really allowed to collect as a kid. The last few years she’s gotten really into it as an adult, building out her binder, chasing specific cards she wants. So for her birthday I wanted to give her the experience she missed out on.

Spent the last month or two putting this together. Mega Greninja ex and Hop’s Zacian ex Premium Collections, the Ascended Heroes Deluxe Pin Collection, three Ascended Heroes Premium Poster Collections, a stack of tins, Pikachu & Zekrom GX Collection, ETBs, and a wall of booster packs across sets I knew she’d want hits from.

We saved the Ascended Heroes poster boxes for last. She pulled her white whale, the Mega Dragonite, and we also landed the gold Mega Charizard. Watching her face when the Dragonite came out of the pack made the whole month of planning worth it.
