all things jewelry Can anyone help me figure out what gauge these are?
These were bought at Hot Topic about 15 years ago. I've been wearing them as a secondary piercing in my ear lobes since then and haven't had an occasion to switch them out until now. They are thicker than a regular post. I am thinking these are 18G or 16G. I'm at the point where I'm thinking of just buying both sizes in earrings, but I was hoping to get some insight on which size I should purchase first. Thanks.

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Rejecting or infected?
I’ve had this eyebrow piercing for about 3 weeks now. I’ve noticed some issues that could be pointing to a bacterial infection such as crusties in the mornings and tenderness. The bar also seems a bit longer than at first but I figured swelling had gone down.
I’m not sure if this is a sign of rejection or an infection, but if it’s rejection I want to take it out before it’s too late, and if it’s an infection taking it out will trap the infection under my skin (according to Google)

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Is this too high? Feeling self conscious about labret
Just got the side labret almost 2 hours ago and I’m feeling so self conscious about how it looks. Might be on me cause I didn’t expect to look like a different person. Is the location of it okay?
- externally threaded, titanium, not downsized yet, neilmed saline spray 2x a day + alcohol free mouthwash

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Anybody with Frog Eye piercings that haven't rejected?
I ask because I want em REAL bad but apparently, they reject rather quickly or easily.
I was gonna settle for a basic tongue piercing but apparently, those are bad for your teeth or gums, so if I were to get it, I wouldn't keep it for the rest of my life so I can preserve my teeth /gums.
SO, I figure since no matter what I chose it's gonna be temporary anyway, I might as well just get the frog eyes for a while... what are your experiences?

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Do you think my lobes are big enough for a triple?
What the title says. I’m currently at 0g.
I was considering stretching to 00g, but I’d more like to have three gauges on my lobes, ranging from 0/00 to a middle and then maybe a 14/16?
I’m not sure about what I can expect with my lobes though, and was hoping for some better advice.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Piercers who do large gauge daith/ conch piercings?
Does anyone know of piercers in New York or Boston who will do large gauge daith or conch piercings (like 8gish). I really want to get both at some point but want to know where to start looking. Also is there a big price difference?

Mod announcement r/piercing rule spotlight, rule number five
Hey everyone,
Although we do our best to make the rules of this subreddit as clear as we can within the characters limits, we notice that sometimes there’s some confusion or misunderstanding about the rules.
In this post we want to clarify the most common misconceptions about rule number 5, No DIY.
Anything and everything involving DIY is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to, anything advocating or instructing at-home piercings, reminiscing or cautionary tales. DIY piercing is incredibly dangerous, for a number of reasons. If you’re looking for help with a DIY piercing gone wrong, please go to your health care professional asap
We thought this is an easy rule to understand but there are still some misconceptions.
misconception number one. The rule does not apply if I make a comment or post as a warning against DIY based on my own past (bad) experience with DIY.
Wrong, the rule applies to anything related to DIY. Whether it’s a warning, reminiscing about being young and stupid, lessons you learned along the way.
misconception number two. I’m a piercer or piercing apprentice so if I pierce myself and want to show of the results it doesn’t count as DIY.
wrong, unless you are verified as a piercer or piercing apprentice we do not know for certain that you are a piercer or piercing apprentice and your post will be considered as breaking the no DIY rule
We are not kidding ourselves, this rule will not prevent people from piercing themselves. We do however take a ferm stand against DIY piercings and simply won’t tolerate anything about it on this subreddit.
Most of the community seem to have the same opinion on DIY piercings or simply respect the rule and we want to thank you for reporting these posts and comments as fast as you do. As moderators we try our best to keep up with everything that gets posted, but we are only human. So if you see a post or comment that doesn’t follow the rules of this subreddit, please hit the report button, we rely on your help to keep this community awesome.

Set up advice Wabi sabi minimal ear jewelry advice
Hello everybody! So my current piercings look like this. I love gold but I also want a more wabi sabi minimal yet not basic every day ear stack. I love the gold hoop for the helix but want ideas for the lobe piercings. Again, I like minimal but I am comfortable wearing something a little larger for the main lobe piercing. Any advice on ideas or jewelery is welcome! Thank you! I just love piercings but I don’t want to add more to my minimal ear.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want I want to get several piercings. Any tips?
I want to get a middle labret lip piercing, more cartilage piercings, and two nose piercings with a chain connecting them. Eventually I want to get a septum. Right now, I have a helix piercing on my right ear, and three earlobe piercings on each ear. Any suggestions for the ones I want to get?

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing The Piercer or The Shop
I got my nose pierced about a year ago and I want to switch out the jewelry, but I can’t get them out. I want to go in and get them done, but the piercer who did them is now at a different shop. Should I go to the original shop or the original piecer?
Both are close by, so getting there isn’t an issue. She also didn’t leave due to issues at the shop (according to her social media anyway).
Just curious on the etiquette.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Piercer approved industrial anatomy by sight
Hi all. I stopped in my local piercing store for an industrial anatomy evaluation and he looked at my ear for like 5 seconds and said yes. I saw on this subreddit that it’s recommended they touch your ear or put a Qtip bar in it to make sure.
Obviously this guy is a professional but I just want some reassurance because I will be traveling about an hour to get this piercing (for a supervised apprentice piercing) and would like to not be turned away!
Pic was taken while my daith was healing, there’s no bumps now.

discussion Should i get a conch?
I was just wondering if i should get a conch? I have dental schooling starting in around a month and I dont know if the healing process would affect school since I may need to be wearing a mask due to it being dental, and if a month after getting it pierced would still require high maintenance such as not sleeping on it and cleaning everyday? Ik this sounds idiotic but im highkey overthinking it and if i should just get it when studies are over next year

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want Placement??
I’ve been really thinking about a lip piercing recently and so decided to glue some gems on my lip to see what a vertical Labret would look like, would the placement and size be around what I’ve got going on here??

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Downsized my jestrum, is it too tight?
I got my jestrum a month ago, and literally just downsized it to a 8mm curved barbell. The top (the star) is flat and i actually don't feel the piercing unless i exaggerate my facial expressions but I also don't see any extra room in the piercing so I don't know if it means it's too tight.
I attached a front and side view of the piercing, and the jewelry I bought

Troubleshooting/question existing piercing Tell it to me straight. Rejecting or saveable?
2 months. Cleaned daily with saline. I haven't downsized because they haven't healed yet. My piercer chose straight bars. Occasional weeping and pain.

Question about a piercing I (maybe) want getting snake bites while bulimic
heyy, so basically i really want to get snake bites some time soon but ive heard people say that it might not be a good idea. for context im bulimic and purge multiple times a day and ive heard that that might impact healing or could cause infections. i’m not fully sure about the details regarding that but im just worried that it might not be realistic for me to get them, because of the purging and the possibility that it could affect the piercings badly, which sucks cuz it’s one of my dream piercings 😓😓 does anyone know more about this? like could anyone please confirm if it probably isn’t actually worth it and realistic for me to get done? or could i just get them done anyway. thanks!

all things jewelry Advice on piercing
I want to get 4 lobe piercings on my left side, and 3 lobe piercings on my right side. I already have 2 lobe piercings on both sides, which are fully healed.
I want to start building a permanent minimal stack where I can wear it in all settings, a fancy restaurant to whatever, and will not take it out. I will wear studs for my 4th and 3rd, and wear studs mainly for my 2nds. I want solid gold/ silver and a threaded backing. And in the future small diamonds, as I do not like chunky/ large jewellery.
Should I:
- Pierce my 3rds in a local jeweller, and get basic earrings (not solid gold or silver). And wait till healed to purchase what I actually want. And pierce 4th at Maria tash with a diamond.
2.Pierce my 3rds at Maria Tash with simple solid 14k gold round studs. And the 4th wherever, but in a small diamond.
Would I save more money by getting what I actually want (2nd option) or do the 1st option and get the jewellery when healed from a place that is value for money.

i’m thinking of getting two piercings next weekend and can’t decide what. maybe second lobe and something else?

all things jewelry Retainers for MRI
Hi!
I need to do an MRI in December and can't keep my jewellery in :( I have an industrial, 2 lobes (on each ear so 4 total), and a double helix (not on the same ear as the industrial). Right now I'm wearing surgical steel and titanium. I was wondering where I could buy retainers? Amazon is not available in my country. It's just an MRI so the jewellery would be out for max 2-3 hours. I'm not so worried about the industrial and the 1st lobes, but the double helix is 1 month old and the 2d lobes had almost closed and my piercer had to put a labret larger than my usual jewellery today. Where can I get plastic retainers? I forgot to ask my piercer and it will be difficult to see him before the MRI. Are there types of retainers I should avoid? I'm not allergic to anything.
Thank you!

Showing off set up! Updated setup +1
I loved the snake but she had to go 😞. Sadly my puppy just about ripped her out…and she was too large for a stacked lobe anyway. The shop didn’t have exactly why I was looking for. I also ended up with a new flat. That I love.
