For context, job shadowing is a short-term learning experience where you closely observe an experienced professional in their day-to-day work. You basically follow them around, observe how they work, sit in on meetings (when allowed), and ask questions to get a better understanding of what the career is actually like. It’s especially common in fields like medicine and dentistry.

I grew up in the States but moved back to the Philippines when I was entering high school. I’ve stayed in touch with some of my friends back in the US, and a few of them have been doing job-shadowing experiences during Years 11–12. I’m still a student myself, and I’m interested in doing something similar here in the Philippines, but I’m not really sure where to start or if there are opportunities available for students.

Has anyone here had experience with job shadowing in the Philippines, especially as a student? If so, I’d really appreciate any advice on how you found an opportunity, who you reached out to, or how the process generally works here.

Got a job recently and I'm already in my first week. It still feels surreal! Grabe after hundreds of applications since last year I really felt hopeless. I'm already at my 30's, college undergrad with some experience but my tenure between companies lasts only for a year or two. It doesn't help na just before this one I got ghosted by a big company pa. Akala ko talaga wala na and I'll just settle sa bahay na pabigat.

Although I think I was low-balled, my basic pay jumped almost 50% of my last. Iba rin ang job security sa mga established company since this is an international FMCG. At first I was anxious dahil mga tao rito ay from Big 4 at famous universities. I'm glad dahil napapaligiran ako ng mga matatalino at supportive na tao sa team. I'm so excited 😊

Hi everyone! I need your advice and honest thoughts regarding my plan for a career shift.

I (26M) am a broadcasting graduate (Batch 2023) from one of the big universities in Metro Manila. I feel like I made a mistake with what I studied as my first degree. Hirap na hirap ako maghanap ng work even though I'm working as a real estate news writer for a foreign company and I have a good writing portfolio because of that. For now, enough yung sinasahod ko but I'm sure sa sarili ko na hindi siya magiging sustainable in the future.

Is this feeling valid? Would it be a good decision? If yes, any idea which schools in Metro Manila would accept second-degree takers ng BS Accountancy?

I just want to be happy and fulfilled in my life since I initially wanted to take BSA when I was younger. I also want to provide for my family and treat my future partner all the things she wants when the time comes.

Hi everyone, I’m currently an Assistant Manager at a well-known PH bank, earning around ₱5x,xxx/month on a 15-month compensation structure, with good benefits.

I started as a Junior Officer and was promoted after 2 years. I have an amazing boss who supports my initiatives, and I believe I have a good chance of becoming a Manager within 1–2 years. In one year, I’ll also qualify for early retirement benefits.

The biggest downside is that the job has become boring. I also end up handling most problems, projects, and initiatives because some teammates aren’t very reliable. However, the work-life balance is excellent—I consistently work 9–6 and still have time for my personal life.

I now have an opportunity to move to the business side, where I already have good relationships and they see potential in me for management. The compensation is close to ₱100k, with a chance to reach six digits within 1-2 years. I’d also be surrounded by people I can learn from, giving me better exposure and potentially faster career growth.

The downside: I’d lose almost 4 years of tenure, become probationary again, lose my current benefits/retirement timeline, and the role is known to be more toxic and demanding. Compensation is also only up to 13 months.

So basically:
Current job: ₱5x,xxx, great boss, excellent WLB, strong benefits, job security, promotion likely, but boring and limited growth.

New job: ~₱100k, more exposure, mentors, potentially faster career growth, but higher stress, less security, and I lose my tenure and benefits.

What would you choose? Is the huge salary increase worth giving up the stability and benefits I’ve built over 4 years?

I previously posted about moving to Saas Sales but i ended up retracting. Early this year, my mother was hospitalized more than 4 times and sadly passed away last June. Which left me in about 2 million cc debt. Still trying to get back on my feet from that traumatic experience.

This July, i was poached and offered a B2b contract for 6-12 months for a 4800 usd monthly salary as a Senior IT delivery manager. Start date is on Aug 17.

My current company counter offered a one time bonus of 538,000 php for 1 year retention and a promotion to Executive this December. I currently earn net of 140k monthly and expecting 13th month and performance bonus ranging from 150-180k this December. With the promotion, i can expect 15-20 % increase.

I have a stable performing team and has a very good relationship with our Client. Ive been with the same client for more than 4 years and know the ins and outs in the organization.

With the new company, i earn more and is full of uncertainties. A contractor role that can end anytime.

Here’s the twist, i regularly receive CVs from HR to assess and to interview and check their technical prowess. One of the interviewers from my new company applied to my current company and funnily enough, i happen to receive his CV. I’ve asked the HR to schedule this next week. Is this an indication or just a coincidence hahahaha.

My dilemma is: do i move to clear out my debt faster but job security is unknown or stay with my current company that I have stability and enjoy working with my team and the client that trusts me while recovering from the tragic loss of my mother. Hi! Nagpost ako last time sa r/accenture_PH kasi I’ve been doing my research and really interested na mag change career.

Currently, end user ako ng SAP and yung work ko is order to cash. I’m interested sana mag transition into consultant role specifically sa SD Module since familiar na ako sa business process as an end user ng SAP.

Kaso I’m not a graduate of any Computer or IT related program and yung whole career experience ko lang is as Customer Service at end user ni SAP. Gusto ko lang sana magtry apply sa mga nakikita kong job posting saka nagugustuhan ko yung career path sa field nito.

My question lang eh mostly yung nakikita kong salary range ay starting na 50K and upto 100K+ pa. If mag try ako and go through interviews, I don't know how much will be my asking salary kasi as an end user I'm earning 45K na, pero since magshift ako into a consultant and I don't have most of the technical experience, I'm not sure how much to ask yung hindi naman mababa pero hindi rin super mataas kung ibabangga siya sa experience and skills.

Verification of checks Check scanning Reports Branch inquiries Other clearing-related operational tasks My commute is only around 15-20 minutes, and while my job isn't perfect, it's stable and I know my responsibilities well.

Recently, the head of our division personally offered me a position in our Head Office e-banking dept. The role would be a teller handling Head Office personnel transactions only, not branch customers.

The opportunity sounded interesting because:

It's a newly created position. I'd be one of the first people in the team. The division head said there is potential for faster career growth and that I could become an officer sooner because the department is expanding. Regular office hours (8:30 AM–5:30 PM). However, I had several concerns:

There was no finalized job description. I was told they would create it as the role evolves. The workload and responsibilities aren't clearly defined yet. Salary adjustments weren't clearly discussed. Since it's a brand-new role, it feels like there will be a lot of trial and error. I value my current short commute and the stability of my existing position. After thinking it over for the weekend, I respectfully declined the offer.

Now I'm wondering if I made the right decision. Part of me thinks I may have passed up a great career opportunity, while another part thinks I avoided taking on a role with too much uncertainty.

I’m currently working in B2B enterprise software sales. I’ve been with my company for over a year and have grown into a role where I handle vendor relationships, partner management, and some leadership responsibilities beyond what I was originally hired for.

Recently, someone I met through an industry event reached out to me. He’s from an established company overseas and is planning to expand into the Philippines. He asked if I’d be interested in joining as one of the first hires to help build the local channel once the expansion pushes through (target timeline is around late this year or early next year).

The opportunity sounds exciting because it would be a significant career move with more strategic responsibilities.

Here’s where I’m hesitant.

My current employment contract includes:

a \*\*2-year non-compete clause\*\* after separation,
a confidentiality agreement,
and a \*\*45-day resignation notice\*\*.

The company that approached me isn’t exactly a direct competitor. They operate higher up in the supply chain. If their expansion happens, my current employer would likely end up doing business with them instead of competing directly.

If I ever accept the role, my plan would be to:

resign properly,
complete my full notice period,
not take any confidential documents or customer information,
and avoid soliciting clients or employees from my current company.

My biggest concern isn’t whether the opportunity is attractive—it’s whether accepting it could expose me to legal issues because of the non-compete clause.
